Ena features | H’muse Pop Up Store @ Parco

Hmuse Enabalista 2

Hello my dear readers!

It’s been a long time since I’ve last blogged, do you miss me ? ^^

I know it’s no excuse… but yours truly have indeed been busy with school assessments followed by my church youth camp. God’s been very gracious to my church youth group and I, we’re recharged for another great year with Him! (:

This is really a long overdue post, for H’muse the Pop Up store at Parco. The nice folks there have generously sponsored 3 vouchers for my readers. So watch out for the next post on how to take part! The vouchers giveaway will take place through the Christmas season and the winners will be revealed on Christmas day, so it’s like 1 more Christmas present for you, the potential winner! (:

Without any further ado, let me show you the photos I took when I went down to visit the store!

Hmuse Pop Up Store EnabalistaH’muse is located at Parco level 1. It occupies a small yet cosy corner. The colourful and quirky merchandise also stands out against the intentionally bare furnishing.

Hmuse Brands EnabalistaThe list of brands featured in store, with a majority of Indonesian brands.

Hmuse Shoes EnabalistaBeautiful handmade leather shoes from Indonesia. Chin, the PR and marketing guy at H’muse says that more stocks are coming in (which should be in store by the time you are reading this).

Hmuse Shoes 2 EnabalistaThese shoes are good-looking and double up for work and play. Guys, if you’re looking for a nice pair of shoes for Christmas and into the new year, go on down to H’muse!

HMuse Ask Dress Enabalista

I picked out a few items, the ones I like to feature in this post…. and I’m telling you, I’m in love with this Indonesian brand, Ask. It’s so spot on with the trends and it doesn’t harm that it has a Korean vibe and sense of aesthetics that I see in the Korean dramas I am watching currently… Just saying. >.< ย So this lovely Autumn/Winter scenery printed dress is apt for the current season and selling at SGD $96.

Hmuse Ask & Coat EnabalistaThis lovely grey faux fur coat also from Ask is selling at $119. Have I told you I secretly (ok fine, not so secretly) LOVE fur? And it’s only arguably in this time of the year in Winter where it’s arguably colder that I can wear fur, fur-lined and winter related thingamajings out in Singapore. Like my fur lined boots from Korea, furry dress, knitted beanie and scarves. But even then, when I wear them out I feel like I’m crazy. T-T I wish I could travel to somewhere cold this winter! Even if it’s 3-4 days it’d still make me very happy, and so I can wear layered attired and furry stuff, HEHE. (:

Hmuse Ask Dress 2 EnabalistaThis printed and Batik inspired dress is selling at $98. It also comes in other colours like green hues. I featured this cause it’s in pink/purple hues. Hee.

Hmuse Ask Pullover EnabalistaThis knitted sweater can double up as both a festive item and tribal too! Also by Ask, priced at $92.

Hmuse Lou Top 1 EnabalistaThis quirky yet laid back striped top by Louskii is priced at $37.

Hmuse Lou Top 2 EnabalistaAlso by Loushkii, this top is going at $55.

Hmuse ColorRiot Shirt EnabalistaThis beautiful floral top is bound to garner attention to the wearer, by ColorRiot, selling at $59.

Hmuse ColorRiot Floral Set EnabalistaIn a similar print, the shorts also by ColorRiot is selling at $59.

Hmuse Ensemble Black Dress EnabalistaBy Ensemble, this sheer dress is unique with its velvet collar and tassel detailing.

Hmuse Ensemble Dress Collar Details EnabalistaUp close photo of the collar, tassels and sheer fabric.

Hmuse Ensemble Golden Hands Black Top EnabalistaAnother Ensemble item, sheer black top with Golden Hand collar detailing.

Hmuse Ensemble Golden Hands Black Top Details Enabalista

Close up photo of the delicately poised Golden Hands.

Hmuse Ensemble Golden Hands White Top DetailsEnsemble Golden Hands Shirt also comes in white. The shirts are selling at $49.

Hmuse Jan Sober Shirt Enabalista

Hmuse Jan Sober Logo EnabalistaNext up we have a brand that specializes in Menwear, Jan/Sober (Jan pronounced in a french way as Yen). The fabric is great and the designs have unique and quirky details (check out the cute collar) which make it really worth the price. This top is selling at $85.

Hmuse Jan Sober Short Sleeve Shirt EnabalistaAnother Menswear brand, Soep Shop, this cute top is selling at $54.90. I particularly like how the collar and shoulders fabric (I forgot what this part of the shirt is called, lol) is different from the rest of the shirt.

Hmuse Men Shirt EnabalistaThis black t-shirt by Kazign has a different coloured pocket and is selling at $49.

Hmuse Bags EnabalistaNow moving on to the vibrant center counter of bags and accessories.

Hmuse Clementine Yellow Clutch EnabalistaIndonesian bags brand Clementine, faux leather clutch going at an affordable price of $49. It’s so lovely.

Hmuse Clementine EnabalistaThe same clutch also comes in blue.

Hmuse Clementine Back EnabalistaClementine has expanded beyond Indonesia, to America, Malaysia and now Singapore.

Hmuse Pink Black Clutch EnabalistaClementine clutch in my favorite combi (yes it still is, lol) Pink & Black, priced at $70.

Hmuse Red and Blue Clutch EnabalistaClementine Envelope clutches in Red and Blue, priced at $60 each.

Enabalista Clementine Clutch EnabalistaClementine velvet and leather combi clutches in Red, Black and Tan. Each priced at $78.

Hmuse 72Smalldive Clutches EnabalistaEuropean bohemian label 72Smalldive Bag to Differ in various colours, $220 each.

Hmuse Acc EnabalistaAustralian brand Vanessa Ward, an architect by profession turned accessories designer. With a nautical collection in H’muse. These necklaces are going for $95 each.

Hmuse Necklace EnabalistaThis unusual ball necklace was the first item to be sold when H’muse opened, bought by an SPH editor! Haha. Also by Vanessa Ward, selling at $130.

Hmuse Daniel Wellington Watches EnabalistaLast but not the least in this featured post, Daniel Wellington bracelets and watches.

Hmuse DW Watch Enabalista

Do visit H’muse’s Pop Up store which opens till January to check out these lovely brands and items!

Readers of Enabalista blog will also get a discount if you quote “Enabalista”.

Lots of Love,
Ena

Trend Highlights | Polished Attraction Featuring Victoria Beckham

Hi lovelies!

It’s time for some Fall Fashion updates! Today I’ll be finishing up with the 2nd part of Fall Winter Trend Highlights. If you haven’t check out the first part here. Titled Polished Attraction, this trend highlight features key looks from the ever chic Victoria Beckham.

Polished Attraction is sub-divided to three categories, Sharply Tailored, Modern Military and Belt Up.

Sharply Tailored – Embracing the cultivated, smart and stylish individual with versatility. Key labels featuring this look are Miu Miu, YSL and Balmain.

Modern Military – Designers brought a fresh appeal to traditional military garb with luxe fabrics and fitted silhouettes. Together with Victoria Beckham, these labels rule the runway this season: Salvatore Ferragamo, Max Mara, Burberry Prorsum & Kenzo.

Belt Up – For this season, accentuating the waist with a thin leather belt adds a touch of class, glamour and sophistication.

If you noticed the H&M at the top left corner of the moodboard, (SHARP EYES THERE fella!), it’s because my friends and I worked on Fall Winter trends back in Feb/March this year for a school project, proposing Fall Winter 2012 trends for a imaginary H&M store in Singapore. Teehee.

Victoria Beckham Fall Winter 2012 Runway Looks

These are soooo chic. It’s like Victoria Beckham decided to create uniforms for the Parisian girls.ย

The models exude effortless chic in these military style garb. *Swoons*If you haven’t seen Victoria Beckham’s Fall Winter 2012 looks but you’re wondering why it looks so familiar? It’s because you’ve seen a similar look on Kate Moss for Mango! I didn’t realize the similarity till I was blogging this! NO WONDER I liked the look on Kate Moss so much when I first saw it. (T-T)# *faints*

That’s all for now, leave me a comment telling me how much you love reading my blog, y’all! ๐Ÿ˜›

Cause Ena Loves Ya So~! *(^-^)*

Pop Up Store W.E. Workshop Element @ Wisma

Hi !

After a couple of non-fashion related posts, we’re back to fashion again! (;

I read about the news of W.E. Workshop Element back in August when it first launched but it’s not to late to announce it here on my blog because they’re still gonna be around for another 7 months! #Teehee.

According to their Facebook page:

W.E. – ‘workshop element’ is a retail platform gathering creative peoples’ work initiated by Singapore’s very own Alfie Leong.

More info. via RockTheTrend:

This new retail pop-up store officially launches today 17th of August, and will remain where it is for eight months. W.E. showcases an all-local ensemble of fashion designers and curators, a first of its kind space here, all 6,000 sq ft of it. The line-up of 19 brands and 16 designers/curators include young, emerging upstarts, veteran designers and fashionโ€™s most familiar names. Local top modelย Sheila Simโ€˜s new clothing line Sceneplicity will also be included.

Check out the list of designers:

Image from W.E. Facebook

Just a few designers I’d like to highlight from the store:

Ling Wu is for the wanderers and urban warriors who are effortlessly cool, restless with energy and keen to veer off the beaten path.

Mystic Vintage by Jason Tong & Alvin Tan.
Mystic Vintage is an eyewear brand which carries the finest lineage of iconic and vintage frames. In 2010, they launched โ€˜Lullabyโ€™, a modern frame which was inspired by the iconic vintage designs of the 70s.
I will definitely go down to check out the place within the next 7 months and will update my ย  experience when I do!

ESTEE LAUDER VIOLET UNDERGROUND FALL 2012 Q&A with Liu Wen

Hello!

As mentioned in my post earlier, here’s the Q&A with Chinese supermodel & Estรฉe Lauder Spokesmodel, Liu Wen. (:

Information credits to Estรฉe Lauder Press team.

ESTEE LAUDER FALL 2012

PURE COLOR VIOLET UNDERGROUND

Q&A with Liu Wen, Estรฉe Lauder Spokesmodel

ย

1)ย ย ย ย  Where is your favorite place to be in fall?

I think Paris, because when Iโ€™m there for fashion week every October, I always love seeing the beautiful colors of the trees along the Champs-Elysees. I always imagine myself and a good friend sitting there, drinking coffee outside.

2)ย ย ย ย  How does fall in New York differ from fall in Beijing?

I donโ€™t think there is too much difference. Maybe Beijingโ€™s weather is drier on my skin.

3)ย ย ย ย  Will you celebrate Halloween? If so, what costume will you wear?

I really like Halloween, but I never wore a costume because I always think about what I want to wear, but never make a decision! I do pass out candy to the kids who come by my apartment though!

ย (Ena: Yes I will, with my classmates again! See my 2011 celebration here. Not sure, but I will start thinking about it! :D)

4)ย ย ย ย  Whatโ€™s your favorite fall meal?

What I eat during fall is pretty similar to every other season, but because it might be drier, I make sure to eat meals with more vegetables, and of course more fruit during the day.

5)ย ย ย ย  What is your favorite fall activity?

Going on a short trip outside the city so I can have a picnic with my friends!

6)ย ย ย ย  What is your must-have fashion item for the fall season?

A big bag that can hold a lot of items! I feel like I have more and more to carry every season.

ย (Ena: I love furry vests & berets, so they would be my must-have fall items. I carry big bags everywhere too! My current Mango bag is tearing at the handles due to all the weight of the books I’ve been carrying. >.<)

7)ย ย ย ย  Whatโ€™s in your handbag?

Three phones (One French, one American, and one Chinese), my wallet, keys, iPod, Lumix Camera, eye drops, travel size jar of Estรฉe Lauder Nutritious Creme and a bottle of water!

ย (Ena:ย That’s a lot of phones she’s carrying! I always wondered how people manage with so many phones!)

8)ย ย ย ย  What were your favorite fashion shows for Fall 2012?

Jean Paul Gaultier, because the show itself is always a playful performance.

Balenciaga, because the outfit I wore was one of my favorites this season.

Oscar de la Renta, because I wore a gorgeous princess-style dress!

ย (Ena: Mine would be Balmain & Valentino for their intricate and lovely Shakespearean / Renaissance inspired embroidery & Victorian Beckham for ย her sleek and modern take on MIlitary style. Trรฉs chic. More about them in another post sometime soon!)

9)ย ย ย ย  How do you prepare for Fashion Week?

I make sure that Iโ€™m ready for it mentally, because it can be very stressful. But most of the time I just do it!

ย (Ena: Speaking hypothetically if I were to take part as a blogger/press, I would prepare for Fashion Week about 1 month in advance, making sure I have my array of classic items to be matched with trendy / covetable fashion items. I might link up with my favourite brands and work out my various attires in advance. I will definitely select which shows to attend and then plan my schedule around it. I will also prepare interesting / dying questions to ask celebrity designers, models and artistes when I meet them. Of course, I’d make sure to charge and be armed with my trusty gadgets like IPhone and camera to capture and record all the flurry of Fashion Week. (; )

10)ย  What is the best style advice youโ€™ve ever been given and by whom?

I donโ€™t think anyone has given me direct style advice, but I do check street style websites a lot to get ideas.

ย (Ena: It would be to be more adventurous in my style and given by my bestie, Bini. By far, Bini has the most unique and daring fashion sense amongst everyone I know irl.)

11)ย  Do you have any tips for taking a good photo?

Just smile!

12)ย  What is your fall skincare routine?

First I apply Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator because itโ€™s gentle and gives my skin an amazing glow. For moisturizer, I love Hydrationist because it absorbs quickly and keeps my skin hydrated all day long.

ย (Ena: You can check out mine here:ย My Skincare Routine with Estรฉe Lauder Refining Poreย Minimizing )

13)ย  What will be your go-to fall beauty look?

I absolutely love how modern and dramatic the colors are in the Estรฉe Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette from the Violet Underground Collection. Also, the new Double Wear Two Tone Zero-Smudge Eye-Opening Mascara is great because the brushes are designed specifically for Asian womenโ€™s lashes.

14)ย  What was your favorite part of the beauty look from the Derek Lam Fall 2012 show?

I really loved the undereye part where they painted fake eyelashes onto the skin-it was a really cool effect.

15)ย  What is the best makeup tip you received from Tom Pecheux?

Tom taught me that I should always have two colors of foundation ready, so I can mix them together to get the exact right color. Also, before you apply a dark eyeshadow, always put on mascara first because it helps prevent the eyeshadow from falling onto the bottom part of your eye!

16)ย  What is your favorite part of being an Estรฉe Lauder spokesmodel?

There are too many to name, but I love that I learn so many beauty tips and feel like a part of a family. Also, I met wonderful friends like my fellow spokesmodels, and I will cherish their friendship forever.

ย (Ena: Similarly, there’s too many to name. I’m not an Estรฉe Lauder spokesmodel per se, but as an Estรฉe Lauder Social Media Advocate, I love receiving new Estรฉe Lauder skincare and makeup products which have become an integral part of my lifestyle. It has acquainted me with other advocates like Jac, allowed me to bring my friends to makeovers, given me so much content to share with my readers and increased the interest I have for skincare and makeup. Thank you Estรฉe Lauder Singapore! )

17)ย  What are you listening to on your ipod?

Lana del Rey, Adele and Chinese artists like Fan Weiqi.

ย (Ena: Song of the moment most probably Good Time by Carly Rae Jepson & Owl Time. My most recent songs on repeat are Primmadonna, Wild One & Chasing the Sun. I also like songs by Fan Weiqi, especiallyย ไธ€ๆฏ”ไธ€ ใ€‚

18)ย  What is your new favorite restaurant and where is it?

ABC Kitchen! Itโ€™s here in New York.

19)ย  Did you have a nickname growing up?

I didnโ€™t really have one, but my mom always called me โ€œbao bei,โ€ which is โ€œhoneyโ€ or โ€œbabyโ€ in Chinese.

( Ena: My mum calls me “En-ah!” which is a short form of my mandarin name Jia En, and my friends also call me Ernie and En. )ย

L.o.L <3,
Ena

Ena’s August in Photos (:

Hello !

First off, a big WELCOME HUGGGG + KISSESSS to my new readers who found out about me through my FB page ad. campaign! Thanks to FB, who generously offered me $50 ad. campaign fund to reach out to more readers through FB! (:

Next up, I have a whole line up of posts from outings with my friends in August, most of them which are food related. All you foodies, get ready! I have posted some photos on Instagram, follow me @ena_teo if you’re on it. If not, check my pictures out here. My Instagram is pretty much a visual folder of all the things that make me happy; friends, food, coffee, colours & pretty pictures. (:

Now I’ll let the pictures do the talking!

If you haven’t seen it, here’s the Stella McCartney Brass Heart & Key necklace I won from a contest organized by Clozette.

The necklace retails online for ยฃ235ย on the UK websiteย here. Thank you Stella McCartney & Clozette! (: Been wanting to wear it but I find the chain a little too short and have not been able to match it for an appropriate occasion yet. >.< Also the folks at Clozette are real nice! Many thanks to Anna’s hospitality when I was at their office collecting the prize. She’s from the Philippines and we had a good chat about the beautiful beaches there, mainly me saying how much I’d like to go to Boracay, haha!

Next up a picture I took with the lovely Kat on the first day we were back in school for a combined lecture! It’s been 4 weeks / 1 month since we started school, how time flies! it’s the finale year of degree and I will definitely miss school when it’s over! TIME! Don’t go by so fast! Slow down! >.<

I took these pictures on the same night I attended the Hermes the Gift of Time exhibition and Underscore Flight Magazine launch, on the bus ride home. Photos were processed on IPhone app Camera360. ^^

My nail candy thanks to Estee Lauder. This is in Tempting Melon (which I thought turned out to a be a beautiful & trendy coral colour) plus ribbon stickers. I did the manicure on my own btw, nice right? ^^
I love coffee! (If you don’t already know >.<) This is Mac Cafe’s Caramel Macchiato (means steamed milk).

This was meant to be on Instagram but it never got uploaded cause of bad internet connection. Say hi to my 2 new puppies, Lulu & Lala!

JUST KIDDING! They don’t exist irl. They are merely printed on a pouch my Aunt gave which I am now using to keep my reading specs safe from scratches. Makes me happy just to see them everyday. ^^

Okie! That’s all folks!

Next post on Estee Lauder’s Violet Underground Fall makeup collection coming right up! (;

Trending | All Things Tribal Summer 2012

In continuation with my Summer Trends series, Tribal fashion is in right now.

Tribal Background from LayoutSparks.com

Whether it’s Tribal prints on dresses, bikinis, shoes, Tribal motifs on bags or Tribal-inspired accessories, All Things Tribal are trending this summer.

Tribal prints and Tribal inspired fashion is similar to Leopard prints, when worn appropriately; it adds character, individuality and a touch of exoticism to your wardrobe without ever going out of fashion.

We see it on celebrities Nina Dobrev and Heidi Klum…

Nina Dobrev in Tribal Skirt

I’ve only recently seen this young starlet in action in The Vampire Diaries after a friend’s (huge TVD fan) relentless persuasion and man, she is gorgeous on screen. She is seen rocking a Tribal Skirt here.

Harper’s Bazaar UK tracks the trend on the runway, with Burberry’s tribal trench and accessories leading the trend.

Style | Modern Classic

In the second installment of my Style series, I picked out a few Modern Classic pieces.

Classic styles are fashion pieces that you can look good in whether 5 years ago or 5 years later. Modern Classic styles are pieces that are updated with a touch of today’s urbanity, so you look classic but also relevant by infusing certain trends into the classic style.

Modern Classic style is ideal for women who work in corporate environments who cannot dress too outstandingly but still appreciated to dress in a trendy and relevant manner.

It is also a smart and easy way of dress, once you acquire the Modern Classic sense of aesthetics, you’ll be able to make wise purchases that you can wear repeatedly and ideally the individual pieces can mix and match well with the other items in your wardrobe.

Two key brands that represents the Modern Classic aesthetics are Paul Smith and DKNY. Season after season, they present runway pieces that are simple, classic and yet relevant.

Kate Middleton with Michelle Obama image from ibtimes.com

Quite understandably, women around the world look towards the wives of the men in Politics / Royalty like Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama for Modern Classic style tips. Indeed they are in the precise position of requiring to look powerful, regal yet modern and relevant.

Kate Moss is another example of the Modern Classic lady with, a few years back, she made famous the boyfriend blazer look and she has gone on to collaborate with high-street brands like Topshop.

#FollowFriday | Rosaleen Gallagher

Starting from this Friday, I will be sharing interesting followers of my blog, on my blog.

I love the WordPress community because it allows a lot of interaction between bloggers. I love discovering other bloggers with similar interests, and am very encouraged when I receive “like” and comments on my posts which further motivates me to produce more good quality posts.

Hence I came up with the idea of sharing these bloggers that share the same interests as I do and also inspire me with their posts. If you enjoy reading my blog, you’ll also highly likely enjoy reading theirs! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The first blogger I’d like to share with you is Rosaleen Gallagher. She blogs at http://rosaleengallagher.wordpress.com/ which she affectionately calls “Mixed Gems” with topics about Beauty, Fashion, Culture & Lifestyle.ย Unbelievable as it may seem (to me), she started following my blog 7 months ago and those were the times when each follower I gained was a milestone in my blogging journey. It still is now, except it’s more like every 10th follower is a new milestone. ๐Ÿ˜›

I’ll let Rose share about herself from her About page here.

My name is Rosaleen Gallagher and I am known to most as Rose. I am a 22-year-old English Literature student in Liverpool, originally from Birmingham.

Rosaleen Gallagher

In September 2010, I launchedย Mixed Gems.ย Initially I was exploring my love for writing, but now my blog has become an integral part of my everyday routine and my favourite hobby. It has been read by the likes ofย Pixie Lottย and attracts thousands of viewers every week.

As well as blogging, I love all areas of social media. In January 2012, myย twitter feedย was longlisted for the Marie Claire Best Beauty Twitter Feed Award.

During my spare time, I like to do lots of creative things.ย I was trained from scratch as a makeup artist at my favourite Liverpool salon,ย Peaches and Cream. Most recently I have joined Bethanie Lunnโ€™s team as a writer forย The Modern Girlโ€™s Guide, one of my favourite blogs.

I love that we’re both of similar age and she really inspires me that it’s possible to accomplish so much more by sharing about the passions in our life.

If you think this “Follow Friday” blog topic is a great idea, please like it, follow me and who knows, you might be the next featured #FollowFriday blogger here! ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s a girl’s shirt so I’m not too sure why it’s worn by a guy model but I guess it means it’s unisex so for my daring fashionable guy readers, this one’s for you too. And for my dear female readers, you can consider getting it as a couple T-shirt if you have a cool bf. HEHE. ๐Ÿ˜›

I have not decked out in florals yet this summer, but I will find a reason and time to do so before the sun runs away! Let me know if you’ve got Floral outfit posts, I wanna see! As usual, send your loves and comment! (;

While writing these Trending & Style posts, I’ve been scouring online sites for cool items and pieces that catches my eye… And whilst it’s tiring I love writing these posts knowing that readers enjoy reading them as well. And I am thinking, I could live as a personal shopper, if my client trusts my aesthetics for her, I could buy items and be paid on a commission basis… What a cool idea this is! But of course, I’d rather be shopping for myself. (;

Style | Rocker Chic June 2012

In addition to the series of Summer Trends posts, I will also be updating my blog with a series of Style posts, beginning with Rocker Chic.

While Trends come and go, Styles are here to stay. A fashionable woman ideally has a unique mix of trendy and stylish pieces in her wardrobe.ย

Celebrities Taylor Momsen and Kristen Stewart’s rocker chic ratings are over the tops this year.

Taylor Momsen Rock Chic 2012 image from knottycelebs.com

Taylor Momsen’s rise in fame came from her participation in Gossip Girl as Jenny but she has since left the show to pursue her music career with the rock band (I initially mis-spelt as rock bank, lol) which she fronts, “The Pretty Reckless”.

I was quite surprised when I heard her sing because it’s pretty good. ๐Ÿ˜› If you haven’t heard before, check out “Make Me Wanna Die” by The Pretty Reckless.

Kristen Stewart carries the rocker chic look well with her stoic expressions.

ย One of my all time favourite Rocker Chic runway collection is from Balmain’s Spring 2009.

Meanwhile, Isabel Marant and Gareth Pugh features Rocker Chic in their Fall 2012 collections.

Trending | Printed Blazers Summer 2012

In the thick of summer, I’m glad to present the first of a series of Summer 2012 Trends, Printed Blazers! Printed Blazer is a trend that started late 2011 and it hasn’t caught on fire yet. But it’s certainly a trend that is still growing and I expect high street fashion labels to be producing and selling affordable printed blazers very soon!

Printed Blazers as seen on celebrities Blake Lively & Rihanna.

Blake Lively Printed Blazer image from http://girlstalkinsmack.com/18-celebrities-rocking-blazers/

I love Lively’s sophisticated and carefree sense of style. Not sure where she got this blazer that seems like a digital print of paint daubs but I found a high fashion label blazer that resembles this piece, see below!

Rihanna in Printed Tuxedo Blazer image from http://www.celebstyle.com/Rihanna-Print-Tuxedo-Blazer-22440034

Rihanna’s Printed Tuxedo Blazer is also amazing, on one hand it looks like a digital print inspired by peacocks and it also resembles Van Gogh’s starry starry night painting albeit in vibrant saturated colours. Love.

Luxury labels Celine and Balmain have led the trend with their beautiful prints in their Resort 2012 collection. Check these out.

Celine Resort 2012 image from Style.com

Although it’s a far cry, but this blazer does slightly resemble the colourful blazer that Lively wore. While Lively’s blazer is artistic, Celine’s prints are more tribal inspired.

Balmain Resort 2012 Printed Blazer image from Style.com

Designed byย Olivier Rousteing, successor toย ย Christophe Decarnin, Rousteing carries on Balmain’s super-luxe rocker chic aesthetics which garners hearts from girls all around the world, including my own. <3

Blueprint Singapore 2012 | Asia’s Fashion Gateway

With thanks to my tutor Yvonne, V and I went down to visit Blueprint Tradeshow.

BLUEPRINT is a one-stop fashion trade gateway for East-West exchange, created to present up-and-coming International and Asian designers. It uniquely specializes in launching Pre-Spring collections and curates fresh and forward menswear, womenswear and accessories including jewelry, shoes and bags from emerging designers destined for international markets. – Blueprint.sg

Here are a few interesting brands that caught my eye when we were there for a little while.

In no particular order (maybe except for how I collected the namecards for reference, haha!) :

ATGAB

Stands for All Things Green and Beautiful and lives true to its name.

ATGAB’s Booth at Blueprint Tradeshow
Loving ATGAB’s colourful necklaces and headbands.

I love the idea of ATGAB and I am very glad to know that the owner and local (Singaporean) designer of this green label, Elaine has been able to sustain the label since 2009.

And she has a huge mission: To preserve the environment we live in by starting a serious green business.ย Elaine collects pre-loved handbags, cuts them up, re-thinks the materials, and hand-makes them into the most unexpected accessories.ย Every product is made up of at least 50% – 80% upcycled materials.ย Elaine is very proud of the workmanship of all designs, and take even more pride in the big hearts of their Bag Goddesses.ย A percentage of all profits would also go towards non-profit organisations as their way of giving back to society. –ย allthingsgreenandbeautiful.com/

The website has a count of number of bags collected and reused for their products. Which is really cute.

ATGAB is stocked atย Soon Leeย
73 Haji Lane
Singapore 189266

Urface

Is a very interesting brand that collaborates with artists / graphic designers to create one of a kind canvas tote / messenger bags, each limited to only 7 in the world.

Urface Canvas Bag
Urface Canvas Bag

I feel that there is a lot of potential to their brand. They remind me of the T-shirt brand Threadless, inviting designers to design T-shirts which are then voted online and produced for buyers. Most of theย information on their FB page is in Thai, hopefully they will translate to english for a wider audience in time to come.

kiki culte

Nicknamed KitKat by her friends, Penn, a Cancerian is into myths, legends and fairy tales of sorts. The nocturnally inspired artist devotes all her time to her passion for all kinds of handcrafted art, which include the recent handmade weave accessories. –ย http://www.kikiculte.com/

I was drawn to kiki culteโ€™s designs because of the rocker chic series. An example here:

The Le Roche series 1 is priced from $128-$188.

Prices for her various series are available here.

Holstad & Co.

I was first drawn to the booth because of the studded bags.

Holstad & Co. Pink Python Laptop Case

Available at $416 on their website here.

Holstad & Co. Black Python Laptop Case

Available at $416 on their websiteย here.

I love the colours, the studs and the texture of the bags.

They also feature a range of jewellery on their website.

Suecomma Bonnie

Is a shoe brand that has been likened to Louboutinโ€™s in Korea.

โ€จKorean shoe designer Bo-hyun Lee has taken the craft of shoe designing to the highest level, with each piece looking like a coveted work of art. Suecomma Bonnie’s handmade shoes are made of the most luxurious materials imported from Europe. Known for feminine and sexy styles, the brand has been worn by many Korean celebrities and featured in almost every top fashion glossies in Korea including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and W Magazine.โ€จ- http://www.futurefashionnow.com/index.php/main/designer/9

GlamRockChic

Helmed by a lovely lady Sarah Sheue whom V and I talked to at length, listening to her share about her brand’s history and design inspiration.

Here are two shoes that we were in love with from her booth!

GlamRockChic Pink and Black Wedges Summer 2013

This is a sample for her Summer 2013 collection, so it’s not produced or for sale yet! We love the colour combination and the spike details.

GlamRockChic

This shoe is striking because of the blend of tribal and rocker details which makes it unique.

Priced at US$120 – 200, free shipping to Malaysia, varying additional postage to international customers. Do check out the online store here.

Tip: If you refer 5 friends to the website, you get a 20% coupon for your next purchase! So it might cover your postage fees. (;

Timo Weiland

One last brand that is one of New York’s up and coming designer label by designer duo Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein. I met them last year when I was helping backstage for their show in Blueprint 2011 and it was a wonderful coincidence to meet them again at the airport when I flew to Hong Kong.

Timo Weiland is the brainchild of New Yorkโ€™s dynamic IT duo Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein. Known for quirky designs and colour palette, their collections are inspired by their mutual love of European history and travel. In July 2011, Timo Weiland was personally selected by Net-a-Porterโ€™s Director as an inductee to the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of Americaโ€™s Fashion Incubator Program. –ย http://www.futurefashionnow.com/index.php/main/designer/5

Two of my favourite pieces from their Pre-Spring 2013 collection available for sale until June 19 here:

Timo Weiland Fossil Print Shirt Dress & Cut Out Tank
Timo Weiland Fossil Print Cutout Tank (Grey) available atย USDย 185.00 here.
Timo Weiland Fossil Print Shirt Dress available at USDย USDย 442.00 here.
Timo Weiland Shirt Dress w/ Lace Trim
Timo Weiland Shirt Dress w/ Lace Trimย available at USDย 450.00 here.

I love their quirky yet formal design sensibility. These pieces reminds me of what Blaire in Gossip Girl would wear.

I was excited to meet Timo again and so I took a picture with him. (:

There were of course a lot other clothing labels but alas, I didn’t have the time to venture and collect details. Nonetheless I hope you enjoyed my recap of Blueprint 2012. Support local and Asian talents! (:

Transmission Lab | Kaleidoscope 2012

I am very happy to blog about Transmission Lab Kaleidoscope 2012. It’s been a year of meetings, ideas, discussion and hard work to bring together a successful art exhibition!

The journey wasn’t easy and it gave me lots of worry to say the least, but I’m glad to have been through this experience!

The opening was held on 11 May, 2012, Friday at our mentors’, Phunk new studio at Tanjong Pagar.

Here’s a short write up about the short fashion video I worked on with my collaborators, Gilda Su and Nicole Lee, as well as our profiles:

The video was filmed at Rochester Park, where colonial style buildings blend seamlessly with the greenery.
A lighthearted video that inspires Love & Daydream.
There will be time for dancingโ€ฆ
& there will be time for daydreamingโ€ฆ
Featuring fashion designs from Rรชvasseur by Gilda Su.
We canโ€™t wait to present the film! See you at the exhibition!

Teo Jia En + Gilda Su + Nicole Lee

Title: Love & Daydream Medium: Video

This video is inspired by the daydreamers and the artwork aims to bring โ€œfunโ€ back into fashion, to encourage its wearers to experiment and to make a statement with a personal style that is uniquely theirs. Keeping in line with the exhibitionโ€™s theme Kaleidoscope, we would like this work to encourage the viewers to be free to express themselves creatively through their dressing.

Apprentice: Teo Jia En (Creative Direction)
Teo Jia En is currently a Fashion Management student in Lasalle. Having cultivated an interest in the arts since young, she continued with art studies for โ€˜Oโ€™ & โ€˜Aโ€™ level and decided to pursue fashion studies. With a deep appreciation of the arts and cultures found in fashion, she aspires to be a leading trend maker in the fashion and luxury industry.

Collaborating artist: Gilda Su (Fashion Designer and Make Up Direction)
Gilda Su was born in Singapore and attended Bunka Fashion College. After graduating with a specialist degree in dress-making, she continued her studies at Parsons the New School of Design in New York City. Gilda is a full-time daydreamer and joyseeker. Her designs reflect her love for color and patternmanipulation, a playfulness that comes with self-confidence and an original personal style.

Collaborating artist: Nicole Lee (Videographer, Lighting, Editing)
A jack of many trades, Nicole Lee aspires to be a master in photography and videography. Nicoleโ€™s passion started with music, shooting at concerts and club events. While she has expanded into other aspects of photography, Nicole hopes to continue with this mantra of capturing the essence of moments on image. The journey hasnโ€™t been easy, but she is very grateful for everyone who has helped, inspired and taught her.

CNY 2012!

How was your CNY? I’ve been wanting to blog about mine… but kept neglecting to. :/

I felt this year’s CNY was less exciting. In terms of visiting family and friends. But I greatly enjoyed visitations with my church friends! (:

No pre-CNY reunion dinner is complete without steamboat! This one was particularly good, thanks to my mum!

Multi-coloured nails to usher in the new year… Against my desk while I was working on school’s CPJ – creative process journal.

First day of CNY, with friends in church. Here with Estella!

2nd day of CNY my family and I visited my grandma’s place, here seen with my aunt and her children and my sister.

Met up with friends Ian, Martin, Dafril and Joshua over at Shane’s place. We had loads of fun playing Xbox, till we had no time for movie! hahaha. ^^

At Amy’s place, her fairly newly adopted handsome son, Muffy!

That’s all for this year’s CNY…

Loads of pics to upload for Feb… went to Luge with churchies and random selcas with my girls in school. ๐Ÿ˜›

Korean Drama X Modern Fashion Feb SS 2012

If you don’t already know, I am a huge fan of korean drama and what better post is there than combining two of my life’s greatest interest, korean drama and fashion together?! ^^

I am an avid korean drama recap reader. LOL. I loyally follow Dramabeans, Koalasplayground and Soulsrebel websites for their Kdrama and TWdrama updates.ย But due to my busy schedule, I tend to only read recaps unless the drama is really good, or it’s my holidays than I will spend the time to watch the drama online.

There are currently two fantastic korean dramas showing, the first a sageuk (period drama) titled “The Moon Embracing the Sun” and the second “Shut Up Flower Boys Band”. I’d admit they are lousy titles, but I love what they wear! The first for their beautiful, elaborate, vibrant-coloured, silk royal garb and the second for their too cool for school rocker looks and preppy uniforms. <3

The Moon Embracing the Sun Poster.

I especially love the intricate details on the shoulders of the King and the Queen (left two). Cultural heritage makes great fashion.

I love the vibrant yellows, pinks, purple and blue colours.ย

The hanbok in lovely pink/purple and green/purple combination. Might be too much if paired in this combination today but totally possible to pull off for a daring, stylish fashionista.

As seen in contemporary fashion, here in Alexander McQueen’s FW 2010, the last collection designed by himself, presented post-humously. He was inspired by the western culture and details here, but I can totally imagine if a chinese/korean designer adapts the Oriental designs for modern wear! But of course, the designs would be more suitable for haute couture, or more formal attire.

Bright cheery emerald green dress by Victoria Beckham selling on Net-a-porter here. Definitely a great colour to herald the Spring… (:

Metallic encasing gem YSL rings are all the rage in the fashion world. Retailing at $390 in-stores in Singapore now. Gems come in many lovely colours and metal ring in gold or silver. The big, bold and royal is definitely in vogue!

MCQ Alexander McQueen Kingsland Vinyl Tote retailingย here.

Assad Mounser Shiprock gold plated multichain retailing here. I am loving the multi chain, summer coloured accessory. Tres chic.

For a similar look that is more accessible locally, check out Bimba & Lola at Orchard ION. Their necklaces have this very candy, seemingly DIY quality to it that is very attention grabbing.

Bimba & Lola necklace… I got this off the website, but the ones in store are different, just to ย illustrate the uniqueness of their necklaces.

Going on to Kdrama number 2… Shut Up Flower Boys Band.

Boys looking cute in their rocker band look. I dig this look… a lot. Haha. Style notes: silver multi chain necklace and rings, best in cross and skulls motifs, layered look with leather jackets and scarfs (unfortunately so not possible in all year summer Singapore, sobs), skinny jeans.

Just needed to post a picture of this rookie newbie in the show, Jo Bo-ah, age is not found online. She is so pretty.ย

The preppy school look is a classic look…

Burberry Pre-Fall 2012.

More boyish looks from Balenciaga’s Spring 2012 Menswear.

Rock the look with…

Alexander Wang bags

I hope I’ve inspired you to 1. Watch the korean dramas 2. Gain some fashion tips for your Spring Summer 2012. 3. Realize that you can pick up fashion tips from korean drama… or any well styled drama! ๐Ÿ˜‰

5. KORS MICHAEL KORS IRVING PLATFORM SHOE BOOT
http://www.my-wardrobe.com/kors-michael-kors/irving-platform-shoe-boot-751225

Floppy hats are a popular and lovely fall winter trend which I have noted from various brands such as Rosebullet, F21 and New Look. Although a little boring to chose black for a party dress, the D&G laced dress is hard to resist. I love the burgundy reds on the Mulberry oversize postmans locked clutch and Michael Kor boots. And the Antik Batik fur coat is a great style item to snuggle up to in, especially if going to a snowy place abroad. I have chosen a darker, muted and rich black, burgundy and dark chocolate brown colour palette which is in part inspired from the ICB styling event I attended.

Christmas is a time to dress up, party and eat in style! I hope you have party plans in store!

ICB Styling Event with Jerome Awasthi @ Wisma Isetan

Two Saturdays ago, I invited my friend Xue Li to attend ICB Styling event. I was invited by Heat Branding which I took up the offer just to see what it’ll be like. I’m certainly glad I attended as it was an enjoyable experience. More than a fashion show, it was a more personal experience hosted by acclaimed stylist Jerome Awasthi as he spoke about how he styled the girls and why and explained in greater detail about the products, about the materials and design. It definitely made fashion come alive and interesting even for Xue Li, a more science-inclined student who felt she learnt a lot more about fashion. ๐Ÿ™‚

The store at Wisma Isetan, level 2.

The hanger full of clothes before the event started.

The lookbook in-store.

There was a free-flow of tasty punch and finger food like tarts and chocs! I should have taken photos of them. Lol.

Jerome starts with the first model and shares how the first look can be casual but with a slight change, she can look different. So he sends her away to transform…

Out comes the second model and he dons on her a fur stole which is a beautiful winter item although totally not suitable for Singapore. I still love it. Haha.Model one is back in the same top but now in a girl pleated skirt and leather jacket which makes her appear formal yet feminine at the same time!

Model 2 appears again, in a trench coat which Jerome demonstrates different ways of tie-ing the belt.

Then she undresses the trench to reveal what she’s wearing within!

A casual knitted dress. Which was shapeless till Jerome skinny belted it! ๐Ÿ™‚

I like this oxford wedges!

Next up a series of transformation with the same versatile scarf. Wrapped around!

Or like a hanging top.

Or like a vest!

My favourite look is the one on the left! With matching burgundy/maroon red stockings, bag and top! It’s beautiful for this Christmas! And very Blair from gossip girl. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you enjoyed this post as I did for the styling event! ๐Ÿ™‚

Stay beautiful, inside and out!

xx

I actually have a few more photos to upload from the event but alas, wordpress uploading is quite a hassle and I’m already tired… I will blog soon! ๐Ÿ™‚ Please leave comments for me! ๐Ÿ™‚ <3
