Pop Up Store W.E. Workshop Element @ Wisma

Hi !

After a couple of non-fashion related posts, we’re back to fashion again! (;

I read about the news of W.E. Workshop Element back in August when it first launched but it’s not to late to announce it here on my blog because they’re still gonna be around for another 7 months! #Teehee.

According to their Facebook page:

W.E. – ‘workshop element’ is a retail platform gathering creative peoples’ work initiated by Singapore’s very own Alfie Leong.

More info. via RockTheTrend:

This new retail pop-up store officially launches today 17th of August, and will remain where it is for eight months. W.E. showcases an all-local ensemble of fashion designers and curators, a first of its kind space here, all 6,000 sq ft of it. The line-up of 19 brands and 16 designers/curators include young, emerging upstarts, veteran designers and fashion’s most familiar names. Local top model Sheila Sim‘s new clothing line Sceneplicity will also be included.

Check out the list of designers:

Image from W.E. Facebook

Just a few designers I’d like to highlight from the store:

Ling Wu is for the wanderers and urban warriors who are effortlessly cool, restless with energy and keen to veer off the beaten path.

Mystic Vintage by Jason Tong & Alvin Tan.
Mystic Vintage is an eyewear brand which carries the finest lineage of iconic and vintage frames. In 2010, they launched ‘Lullaby’, a modern frame which was inspired by the iconic vintage designs of the 70s.
I will definitely go down to check out the place within the next 7 months and will update my   experience when I do!

Clinton’s Farewell Gathering @ Two Fat Men

Hellooo!!!

I am finally updating after so long because I was sick the past week and been trying to recover by getting more rest and sleep! >.<

In this wonderful post I am going to share photos my friends and I took while we were at Two Fat Men Food and Bar place at Katong. I thought this place was pretty cool because they serve a mix of Thai and Western cuisine with lots of beer. Because you will find out that they are pretty fantastic from my review here, here’s their address and number to save you from googling! 😉

Two Fat Men

376 East Coast Road  Singapore 428984
6346 0046

As the title says, we were there for our dear friend Clinton’s farewell as he is going to UK to study Law. (At the time of post, he has left Singapore.) (:

I’ll now let the photos do most of the talking! Sorry I don’t have the prices but from my memory they range from $5 to $12 ish there abouts! (:

Basil Rice with Egg. We ordered this and shared so we each had a few spoonfuls. From the little I sample, I feel it is a little dry compared to the one I usually eat at Sunshine Plaza (Gold Thai). Which reminds me, I should review Gold Thai and other usual food haunts around my school! (: But Two Fat Men’s basil rice is definitely tasty so I would recommend it.

Chicken wing platter is awesome. They are in smaller servings (smaller chicken wings) but very tasty. MUST TRY!!! I am salivating as I type this, no kidding.

Prawn Tanghoon. I’m allergic to Prawns but I tried the tanghoon and I thought it had a bit of a sour pork smell which was quite weird, so I didn’t like it! But my friends thought it was ok though!Best Selling (According to their Blog) Grilled Pork Neck is GOOD. Also another must try dish!

Red Curry & Green Curry. I prefer their green curry because the Red curry was a little too spicy for my liking. Go for it if you like your food fiesty! (; Although over all I think both their curries are so-so. Jai-Thai (which is also at Katong) has better curries I feel! (: On hindsight I realize just how much Thai food my friends (different groups) and I savour and at different places! Hehe.

Nachos. This one. Can skip. I didn’t like it. Too much salsa for too little Nachos and the salsa was too sourish with too much garlic. I can’t remember the price, but I didn’t think it was value for money!

Basket of Fries (but in a bowl). This is great! Love the sauce, which we poured over the fries and even rice. Sauce is awesome. Fries are normal fries but cooked just nice! Another recommendation!

Check out the group savoring the food. ^^ From left to right: Ganda, Lorry, JJ & Siau.

JJ and Justin posing for the shot with Brothers Toffee Apple Cider which is mad awesome!!! Haven tried any cider like this. It’s a wonderful blend of Toffee & Apple. Must try!

The whole group at the dinner! Mao, Justin, Me, Lorry, Clinton, JJ and Ganda.

The boys!

We then walked along Katong, towards Teo Heng for a karaoke session and I had this idea of shooting a boy-band inspired shot. HEHE.

A bit blur I know.Still blur. 😛

Clearer!

With me in it and also blur! Haha! But it’s not bad huh! 🙂

Jump Shot! 😀

One more group shot at Teo Heng karaoke room! (:

I am always grateful for this group of friends whom I’ve grown up with since secondary school! We’re gonna be there for each other’s graduations, marriages, baby’s 1st month… Love you guys! (((:

ESTEE LAUDER VIOLET UNDERGROUND FALL 2012 Q&A with Liu Wen

Hello!

As mentioned in my post earlier, here’s the Q&A with Chinese supermodel & Estée Lauder Spokesmodel, Liu Wen. (:

Information credits to Estée Lauder Press team.

ESTEE LAUDER FALL 2012

PURE COLOR VIOLET UNDERGROUND

Q&A with Liu Wen, Estée Lauder Spokesmodel

1)     Where is your favorite place to be in fall?

I think Paris, because when I’m there for fashion week every October, I always love seeing the beautiful colors of the trees along the Champs-Elysees. I always imagine myself and a good friend sitting there, drinking coffee outside.

2)     How does fall in New York differ from fall in Beijing?

I don’t think there is too much difference. Maybe Beijing’s weather is drier on my skin.

3)     Will you celebrate Halloween? If so, what costume will you wear?

I really like Halloween, but I never wore a costume because I always think about what I want to wear, but never make a decision! I do pass out candy to the kids who come by my apartment though!

(Ena: Yes I will, with my classmates again! See my 2011 celebration here. Not sure, but I will start thinking about it! :D)

4)     What’s your favorite fall meal?

What I eat during fall is pretty similar to every other season, but because it might be drier, I make sure to eat meals with more vegetables, and of course more fruit during the day.

5)     What is your favorite fall activity?

Going on a short trip outside the city so I can have a picnic with my friends!

6)     What is your must-have fashion item for the fall season?

A big bag that can hold a lot of items! I feel like I have more and more to carry every season.

(Ena: I love furry vests & berets, so they would be my must-have fall items. I carry big bags everywhere too! My current Mango bag is tearing at the handles due to all the weight of the books I’ve been carrying. >.<)

7)     What’s in your handbag?

Three phones (One French, one American, and one Chinese), my wallet, keys, iPod, Lumix Camera, eye drops, travel size jar of Estée Lauder Nutritious Creme and a bottle of water!

(Ena: That’s a lot of phones she’s carrying! I always wondered how people manage with so many phones!)

8)     What were your favorite fashion shows for Fall 2012?

Jean Paul Gaultier, because the show itself is always a playful performance.

Balenciaga, because the outfit I wore was one of my favorites this season.

Oscar de la Renta, because I wore a gorgeous princess-style dress!

(Ena: Mine would be Balmain & Valentino for their intricate and lovely Shakespearean / Renaissance inspired embroidery & Victorian Beckham for  her sleek and modern take on MIlitary style. Trés chic. More about them in another post sometime soon!)

9)     How do you prepare for Fashion Week?

I make sure that I’m ready for it mentally, because it can be very stressful. But most of the time I just do it!

(Ena: Speaking hypothetically if I were to take part as a blogger/press, I would prepare for Fashion Week about 1 month in advance, making sure I have my array of classic items to be matched with trendy / covetable fashion items. I might link up with my favourite brands and work out my various attires in advance. I will definitely select which shows to attend and then plan my schedule around it. I will also prepare interesting / dying questions to ask celebrity designers, models and artistes when I meet them. Of course, I’d make sure to charge and be armed with my trusty gadgets like IPhone and camera to capture and record all the flurry of Fashion Week. (; )

10)  What is the best style advice you’ve ever been given and by whom?

I don’t think anyone has given me direct style advice, but I do check street style websites a lot to get ideas.

(Ena: It would be to be more adventurous in my style and given by my bestie, Bini. By far, Bini has the most unique and daring fashion sense amongst everyone I know irl.)

11)  Do you have any tips for taking a good photo?

Just smile!

12)  What is your fall skincare routine?

First I apply Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator because it’s gentle and gives my skin an amazing glow. For moisturizer, I love Hydrationist because it absorbs quickly and keeps my skin hydrated all day long.

(Ena: You can check out mine here: My Skincare Routine with Estée Lauder Refining Pore Minimizing )

13)  What will be your go-to fall beauty look?

I absolutely love how modern and dramatic the colors are in the Estée Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette from the Violet Underground Collection. Also, the new Double Wear Two Tone Zero-Smudge Eye-Opening Mascara is great because the brushes are designed specifically for Asian women’s lashes.

14)  What was your favorite part of the beauty look from the Derek Lam Fall 2012 show?

I really loved the undereye part where they painted fake eyelashes onto the skin-it was a really cool effect.

15)  What is the best makeup tip you received from Tom Pecheux?

Tom taught me that I should always have two colors of foundation ready, so I can mix them together to get the exact right color. Also, before you apply a dark eyeshadow, always put on mascara first because it helps prevent the eyeshadow from falling onto the bottom part of your eye!

16)  What is your favorite part of being an Estée Lauder spokesmodel?

There are too many to name, but I love that I learn so many beauty tips and feel like a part of a family. Also, I met wonderful friends like my fellow spokesmodels, and I will cherish their friendship forever.

(Ena: Similarly, there’s too many to name. I’m not an Estée Lauder spokesmodel per se, but as an Estée Lauder Social Media Advocate, I love receiving new Estée Lauder skincare and makeup products which have become an integral part of my lifestyle. It has acquainted me with other advocates like Jac, allowed me to bring my friends to makeovers, given me so much content to share with my readers and increased the interest I have for skincare and makeup. Thank you Estée Lauder Singapore! )

17)  What are you listening to on your ipod?

Lana del Rey, Adele and Chinese artists like Fan Weiqi.

(Ena: Song of the moment most probably Good Time by Carly Rae Jepson & Owl Time. My most recent songs on repeat are Primmadonna, Wild One & Chasing the Sun. I also like songs by Fan Weiqi, especially 一比一

18)  What is your new favorite restaurant and where is it?

ABC Kitchen! It’s here in New York.

19)  Did you have a nickname growing up?

I didn’t really have one, but my mom always called me “bao bei,” which is “honey” or “baby” in Chinese.

( Ena: My mum calls me “En-ah!” which is a short form of my mandarin name Jia En, and my friends also call me Ernie and En. )

Catch Brave the Movie (:

Hello! (:

I caught Brave with my friends in August and I loved it!

Here are the reasons why I love it:

1. Love the starring character, Merida in her Scottish accent and messy hair.

2. Love the cute storyline.

3. Love the cutest triplets ever in history!

4. Love the 3 ____ that the triplets turned into! You have to watch the movie to understand what I mean!

Lovely posters I found via google:

I told you the triplets are the cutest right?! >.<

Now watch the trailer! (;

Also check out a preview of Pixar short titled “La Luna”, that plays before the Brave movie! It’s a really sweet and cute short. (:

Ena Vlogs | Estée Lauder Violet Underground & China Doll Hair

Hello!

I hope your September is going well? I know mine sure is! (;

It’s yet another Ena Vlog! ARE YOU EXCITED?! On average, it takes about 10 times as long to product a vlog compared to a blog post, and I’m not exaggerating. I take about 30 min to write and publish a post (mostly, if I don’t need to edit the photos or prepare to take the photos) but I take about 5 hours to film, edit and publish a vlog. Even if it’s about 5 min long. @-@ Haha! But I’m enjoying making these vlogs. Well I do hope I get faster at it. And more humorous. And more entertaining. And more awesome. 😀

Ena’s August in Photos (:

Hello !

First off, a big WELCOME HUGGGG + KISSESSS to my new readers who found out about me through my FB page ad. campaign! Thanks to FB, who generously offered me $50 ad. campaign fund to reach out to more readers through FB! (:

Next up, I have a whole line up of posts from outings with my friends in August, most of them which are food related. All you foodies, get ready! I have posted some photos on Instagram, follow me @ena_teo if you’re on it. If not, check my pictures out here. My Instagram is pretty much a visual folder of all the things that make me happy; friends, food, coffee, colours & pretty pictures. (:

Now I’ll let the pictures do the talking!

If you haven’t seen it, here’s the Stella McCartney Brass Heart & Key necklace I won from a contest organized by Clozette.

The necklace retails online for £235 on the UK website here. Thank you Stella McCartney & Clozette! (: Been wanting to wear it but I find the chain a little too short and have not been able to match it for an appropriate occasion yet. >.< Also the folks at Clozette are real nice! Many thanks to Anna’s hospitality when I was at their office collecting the prize. She’s from the Philippines and we had a good chat about the beautiful beaches there, mainly me saying how much I’d like to go to Boracay, haha!

Next up a picture I took with the lovely Kat on the first day we were back in school for a combined lecture! It’s been 4 weeks / 1 month since we started school, how time flies! it’s the finale year of degree and I will definitely miss school when it’s over! TIME! Don’t go by so fast! Slow down! >.<

I took these pictures on the same night I attended the Hermes the Gift of Time exhibition and Underscore Flight Magazine launch, on the bus ride home. Photos were processed on IPhone app Camera360. ^^

My nail candy thanks to Estee Lauder. This is in Tempting Melon (which I thought turned out to a be a beautiful & trendy coral colour) plus ribbon stickers. I did the manicure on my own btw, nice right? ^^
I love coffee! (If you don’t already know >.<) This is Mac Cafe’s Caramel Macchiato (means steamed milk).

This was meant to be on Instagram but it never got uploaded cause of bad internet connection. Say hi to my 2 new puppies, Lulu & Lala!

JUST KIDDING! They don’t exist irl. They are merely printed on a pouch my Aunt gave which I am now using to keep my reading specs safe from scratches. Makes me happy just to see them everyday. ^^

Okie! That’s all folks!

Next post on Estee Lauder’s Violet Underground Fall makeup collection coming right up! (;

Hermes The Gift of Time Exhibition Photo & Video Review

As I mentioned in a post earlier, Hermes presented an exhibition titled “The Gift of Time” fashion / art exhibition and I managed to catch it with my friend Ace on the last day, just about an hour to go before it closed! (;

This is how the interior of Tanjong Pagar (defunct) Railway Station looks like. Pardon for the blurry images cause the lighting was quite dim and there was an all around red/orangey hue.

Upon entering the exhibition, we see this clock/sun-dial with a horse motif clock hand which reflects a horse shadow. It’s a lovely combination of fine artistry/design and science.

The first room is filled with videos and quotes about time. I spotted quotes in English, Mandarin and French.

Here are some of my favourites:
The second room is titled “Time Suspended” and it’s about the amazing history made by an equestrian that jumped a hurdle so high that has not been broken. The bar in the room reflects the exact height of the record. It’s been said that the jump was so high and spectacular that in that moment it felt like time was suspended. Therefore Hermes was inspired to create a watch with the essence of “Time Suspended” which encapsulates the spirit of Man pushing limits.

This video screen on the sand is position in front / below of the watch and I love how technology and video is artiscally integrated into the exhibition.

In the same room hangs a series of horse saddles over the centuries which is a testament to the evolution of Hermes horse saddles which represents their beginnings and their heritage.

There was a guide for each room and the exhibition would not have been complete if not for the stories and background they shared! I think Hermes Singapore / exhibition organizer did a great job in engaging and training the guides because I thought them pretty spectacular, they memorized the whole script and most if not all of them were impeccably dressed and smart looking.

In the fourth and my favourite room, titled “Time Balance”, there is a huge and revolving top which has a set of water filled but always balanced glasses in the middle. It illustrates the idea of how all of us have the same number hours of time in a day and balancing/managing life/time is not a mean feat but it’s possible. It’s a profound concept and I am most impressed with how it’s so beautifully conveyed.

The tablewares displayed are all designed by Hermes.

In the fifth room which I didn’t manage to catch the name of, it showcases Hermes’ expertise in leather in beautifully designed and interesting artworks. The first part is a pendulum of bags. The green bag acts as the gong and the two brown luggages vibrates.

Watch them in action in a video compilation of clips I took from the exhibition:

In the same room there are artworks designed and made with Hermes leather such as the parrot and the cat face. They are made up of beautifully coloured and various types of leather varying from rough to smooth. The guide encouraged us to touch the varying textures.

Yay for being able to touch the display in the exhibition! 😀In the fifth room titled “Imagination Room”, viewers are encouraged to relax on the cushion seating areas and gaze at the coloured reflection from a bowl of water.

In the sixth and last room there’s a see saw in front with huge tree in the middle, a tortoise at the bottom of the tree and a horse cuckoo clock on the tree and glass framed displays that light up at different and seemingly random order. I didn’t quite catch the meaning of this room but I think it was about chance and surprise.

The horse comes out to cuckoo every 3 minutes. Haha!

As I mentioned in the video above, I enjoyed the exhibition very much. And as I review the exhibition in this post, I ponder and realize that the exhibition was intentionally and well-designed to allow viewers to experience the exhibition through the various senses of touch, sight and hearing. It is also a beautiful reminder of how Hermes takes pride in her heritage, fine craft and artistry and educating the people about them.

Haven’t had enough of Hermes from this post? Check out their video related to the exhibition here:

Underscore Magazine Flight Launch

Last Sunday, Mel, Ace & I attended Underscore Magazine’s launch at Tanjong Pagar’s now defunct railway station. It was just perfect as it was next to Hermes Gift of Time exhibition which I wanted to catch before it closed. I will blog about it next. (:

Jerry (Creative Director of Underscore Mag), Mel, Serene, Myself & Ace.

Taken from Underscore Magazine website :

Underscore: An independent magazine with thematic content attuned to a simple rhythm; quality of life.

It was my first time checking out the magazine, check out their screencaps of the various chapters of Flight on the website and a very interesting effect takes place when you’ve viewed all of them! See here. The hardcopy magazine is available on Kinokuniya, a beautifully designed book with interesting articles and features from designers and artist contributors worldwide.

In conjunction with the Underscore Magazine Flight launch, pop up cafe The U Cafe opened from 1-12 August. Although I didn’t try their coffee, my friend Jon said it’s really good. Maybe they will open one permanently some time soon…

A lot of crew in the cafe preparation and cashier area. They were having a 1 for 1 sandwich offer during dinner time!

Love how the patriotic red and white flags decorated the cafe.

A whole wall of magazine were available for browsing for customers of the cafe! Just love how it’s styled.

Past Underscore Magazine Fight edition showcased in a bicycle case, cute!

Train inspired counters line the platforms which are free for visitors to use and dine the food available from stalls nearby. Wondered if they were in-line with Hermes’ Gift of Time exhibition because of the distinctive orange, have not found out if it was or not.

People fascinated with taking pictures of the railway… which I didn’t! Haha.

Another “Pop up” stall is an old school snack store, “Munch” which sells biscuits, sweets and toys that are usually found at neighbourhood Mom and Pop stores.

Haven’t had Mamee noodle snack in a long time! Anyone still eats them nowadays? I use to eat them daily in primary school. ^^

Love the cartoon quality of Munch store logo, very apt!

Their biscuits come in these old school tin cans. And this Tiramisu biscuit is yummy!

These styrofoam planes available for sale at counter. They also resemble the cut-out plane towards the end of the Underscore Magazine’s Flight edition!

I asked Munch staff where they would head to after the Railway and they said Fusionopolis which is far west! Check out their Facebook here https://www.facebook.com/got.craving for updates. (:

Hermès The Gift of Time Exhibition Singapore

Hello!

If you don’t already know, Hermès, the acclaimed french fashion power-house is  presenting the precious Gift of Time exhibition at Tanjong Pagar Railway Station.

Hermes Gift of Time Exhibition. Image take from RockTheTrend.com

The exhibition is curated and created by US-born artist and poet Hilton McConnico, and the series of installations will make use of its surrounds – the de-commissioned train station itself a contemplation on the passage of time – to invite viewers to explore the ways we make use of the most evanescent and valuable aspects of life: time itself.

The Gift of Time exhibition will run from August 1 to 12, 11am to 9pm daily. Admission is free. Find out more about the traveling exhibit by heading over to Hermès’ dedicated minisite. Also check out The U Cafe, a pop-up cafe in conjunction with the exhibition.

I have yet to go down for the exhibition but I plan to this weekend. This is the last weekend of the exhibition, so do go down to check it out before it’s too late!

If however you are unable to make it down for the exhibition personally, do check out Moonberry’s visually arresting blog post here.

Olympics Inspired Fashion 2012

It’s been a few days but…

Singapore won a bronze medal in Olympics! YAY!

Thanks to our star female table tennis player Feng Tian Wei for doing us proud!

Congrats to Feng Tian Wei for bagging a bronze for Singapore! Image credits to Redsport.sg

So while we are all still in the mood and heat of Olympics, here are a few fantastic Olympics inspired fashion items to ogle (maybe we call it google nowadays :P) over! 😀

1. Isabel Marant ‘Beckett’ trainers – mytheresa.com

These are the coolest kicks in fashion these days. Worn by lots of models off duty!

2. Miu Miu special edition bags – available exclusively at Miu Miu’s London boutiques.

How cute that they come in Olympic medal colours… guess most women will go for the gold? (;

3. Anya Hindmarch X Dunlop, selfridges.com

I don’t fancy green much, but if it’s hot pink or purple I’d love it more! Find this cute because of the 5 Olympic coloured rings! 😀

4. Limited edition Proenza Schouler PS11 bag, openingceremony.com

One of the IT bag of the moment, Proenza Schouler PS11 in a winning colour! I’m glad to report that this colour will continue to serve you well into Spring Summer 2013. Metallics is gonna be in trend then!

Win With Estée Lauder Every Woman Can Be Beautiful Photo Contest

Hi all!

Remember the Estée Lauder Makeover I attended 2 weeks ago? I’m glad to announce that there’s a photo contest from that event that’s beginning today and there are fantastic prizes to be won by the voters!

If you happen to be on of the ladies in the photo contest, be amongst the Top 10 with the most votes and stand a chance to win a SGD1,000 Estée Lauder Hamper!

If you still can wait, read on!

Designer Olympic Games Kit 2012

So Olympics have just started, have you caught the fever and seen any matches?

I haven’t seen any but I’ve seen the news, especially the fashion news for Olympics and as the title suggests, Designer Olympic Games Kit 2012 that’s worth the mention.

Seriously where and when else do you get publicity as huge as this? I know if I were a Singaporean label, I’d definitely be fighting to design a Games Kit for Singapore… #justsayin’

Stella McCartney for Britain

I personally expected something better in terms of design, the jacket is pretty nice, like it’s something wearable even after Olympics but the T-shirts could really do with better graphics.

Apparently Stella McCartney had to release a statement saying it wasn’t designed by her but i DO like how this attire is put together. I won’t be caught wearing a 3/4 pants (cause I’m petite and it just looks very auntie) so other than that, this gets a nod from me!

Ralph Lauren for USA

This games kit is IMO the best of the lot. Simple, classic and stylish. Im not a fan of the updated and huge pony logo but graphic like that is acceptable in light of how the outfits looks so good overall. And the little striped detailing of the belts? Cute.

I like the blazers but I don’t like the berets and the high ankle socks/shoes. Can I repeat myself that brands that sponsor Olympic teams are just #winning it. Get it? 😛 Anyway if I were an American Olympian I’d keep wishing Ralph Lauren keeps sponsoring and designing for USA’s Olympic team because they just stand for everything American.

Armani for Italy

Quite unfortunately and surprisingly only so-so. Really expected a lot more from Armani. But oh wells, the Italians look good in anything. Maybe even more so without. HA. 😛

Prada for Italian Sailing and Paralympic

This is much better than the above. At least the jackets seem to look more fitted. I tried looking for actual images, taken on real olympians but can’t find any on google images.

Hermes for French Equestrians

Is absolutely regal and formal which is really cute and fitting for the sport!

Salvatore Ferragamo for San Marino

I have no idea what country San Marino is but these are some stylish designer wear. Would totally be appropriate for Pre-fall collection please!

From Top Left to Bottom: Ferragamo for San Marino, Armani for Italy and Ralph Lauren for USA.

Want to get into the mood for Olympics without breaking the bank for the above designer brands? I’d suggest some:

Olympics worthy nail design ^^

Image taken from Fashionista.com.

I’ve tried googling for China and Singapore’s Olympic Kits but there wasn’t any news featured on them, sadly. Chinese and Singaporean designers please and hopefully will rise to the occasion come 2016! I wonder what I’ll be doing by then, gasp!

I’ll have another post coming up on Olympics-inspired fashion items. Also gonna be posting on Fashion IT bags 2012 for Women and Men respectively as my last post on IT bags was pretty popular amongst readers. So stay tuned!

Estée Lauder’s Pure Colour Vivid Shine Collection, Part II

Hi!

In my last post, I blogged & vlogged about the “Everyday Mermaid” look I created with products from Estée Lauder’s Pure Colour Vivid Shine Collection and I said I’ll update with another look from the same collection and here it is!

This look is created with Fire Sapphire (what a beautiful name!) eyeshadow and Pink Riot lipstick! I don’t have a name for this look… let me know if you can think of one! (; Check out the details and write up for the eyeshadow and lipstick here. What I really like about the lipstick is how it was formulated with “diamond-like pearls” that creates the shimmer. Sounds as pretty as it looks! <3

Don’t think I’ve posted a picture of the set I received (although its on my Instagram), here is it!:

From left to right: Electric Mauve, Pink Riot, Purple Velvet, Ultra Marine and Fire Sapphire from Estée Lauder’s Pure Colour Vivid Shine Collection.

Here’s how the nail lacquer looks on my nails. Mad love! <3 Gonna wear it loads!

There are 3 Nail Lacquer colours for this collection, all in Limited Edition and retails at S$26 each.
They are:

Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer in Purple Velvet (Featured)
Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer in Dressed to Kill
Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer in Black Turquoise

Check out beaut.ie’s blog here as to how the other two nail lacquer looks like, I’m glad I got Purple Velvet because amongst the three it’s my favourite!

The Pure Color Vivid Shine Collection will be available at all Estée Lauder counters except for limited edition shades which are only available at Tangs Orchard, Takashimaya and Isetan Scotts from August 2012. (So better head down to town to see the full range!)

Guess what, it’s 1st August tmr and this means Estée Lauder’s Pure Colour Vivid Shine Collection will be in-stores, no longer have to wait! (;

Ena Vlogs | Everyday Mermaid Look Featuring Estée Lauder’s Pure Colour Vivid Shine Collection

I filmed a very short vlog last night, about the make up look I had. It’s been a very long time since I last vlogged and it took me a long time, almost 2 hours to get it right, despite it being a 2.5 min long video. Vlogging makes me exceedingly self-conscious because I personally don’t think I look very good on screen, only at certain angles and filming really accentuates that fact. I really take my hat off to youtube stars (Michelle Phan, Xteener, Frmheadtotoe) who are so natural at what they do. They are not only attractive but exceedingly confident which adds to their appeal.  Maybe, hopefully I’ll get better/more comfortable, with more vlogs.

PURE COLOR VIVID SHINE
Launching in August 2012

This Fall Estée Lauder and Tom Pecheux dare you to play in a world of bold, luminous and impactful color with new Pure Color Vivid Shine – the latest wave of shades that dazzle eyes, lips and nails with sparkling shine and chromatic color. This modern spectrum of color features new finishes and textures. Pure Color Vivid Shine is a collection of bold shades for women and makeup artists who want to indulge their love of color.

As a makeup artist, I need vivid color. Vivid Shine is inspired by the models and women I work with in Fashion.  I created this collection so every woman could play with color that is vibrant and alive.” -Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director, Estée Lauder

PRISMATIC EYES

Accentuate eyes in a range of seductive, stylish shades that deliver maximum color impact and dimension with the newest Pure Color Gelee Powder Eyeshadows. Magnified, multi-faceted, magnificent, these future forward shadows define where innovation and high-style meet with a high-performance formula comprised of advanced technology and texture.

True Vision™ Technology — a crystalline (polymer) laminate that magnifies and amplifies color with a glowing metallic finish envelopes lids with high-intensity pigments in one velvety smooth application and a “tribrid” system of liquid, powder and gel all-in-one, creates exceptional, non-creasing, non-fading color and long-lasting wear that won’t fade. The formula also reaches new heights and dimensions with a bouncy malleable texture, for high-definition color impact that can go from matte to the highest chromatic shine. Accompanied by a specially designed sponge-mitt applicator, these versatile shadows can be worn dry for a sophisticated look, or wet for a bold, full color finish – making them every makeup artists’ dream!

Pure Color Gelee Powder Eyeshadows bring color to life in two weightless, incredibly smooth finishes:

Vivid Shine Finish: In this collection, there are 6 limited edition Vivid Shine shadows that feature a unique blend ofspecially treated glow and metallic pearl duo complex.  This luminous finish catches and reflects light, creating the purest levels of multi-dimensional color illumination for unforgettable eyes that glow!

Vivid Shine Finish (Limited Edition) Pure Color Gelée Powder EyeShadow in Ultra Marine is featured in the vlog above.

Cyber Metallic Finish:  These 10 shimmering Cyber Metallic shades transform eyes to a hyper-metallic, futuristic look.

AMPLIFIED LIPS

Saturated with color, sparkling shine and dimension, lips are the center of attention with new Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick. A breakthrough in lip color never experienced before, these gorgeous lipsticks range is a seductive spectrum of shades from vivid to sublime and are infused with powerful technologies and benefits.

True Vision™ Technology envelopes lips with decadent color, and a sheer, lustrous shine, while Amplified Dimensional Pearl Technology is a unique diamond-like pearl cluster consisting of up to eight different shaped and colored pearls. These pearls fuse together to reflect a multi-hued, multi-faceted spectrum of color for an amplified, sparkling finish on lips.  Each shade contains silver and gold sparkle pearls which neutralize lips, making them look beautiful on all skin tones for a faceted, sequined shine that sparkles.

Lips are further enhanced with Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick through exceptional benefits that include:

–        A new moisturizing texture saturates lips with sheer, creamy emollients that smooth and condition lips for hours – increasing lip moisturization by 23% in 4 weeks!
–        A natural polymer complex creates a pliable, glossy film network, providing lips with a sophisticated, dimensional shine that lasts for hours.
–        A high performance wax complex forms a matrix that entraps emollients and pigments in place on lips for lasting coverage and stay-true color in each and every shade.

Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Electric Mauve is featured in the vlog above.

For images of the full lipstick range and swatches, check out Gouldy’s reviews here.

I will be reviewing another set of eyeshadow, lipstick and nail lacquer with swatches from the same collection in another post. So stay tuned!

My Estée Lauder Makeover Experience

Estée Lauder’s Makeover preview night was a blast! And I’m not saying that simply because I’m an advocate for them but because it was really well organized; upon registration, hors d’oeurve, to the makeover, hair styling, photo shoot, collection of the complimentary photo and till the product purchase and redemption counter. My friends and I were remarking about how unexpectedly enjoyable the makeover was. Experiencing the makeover for the first time with my friends added a lot of excitement and joy to it. ^^

Intro was really long huh, I’ll now let the pictures do the talking. (;

Hair Styling @ Vive Salon

The evening started with hair styling at Vive Salon. The other 2 advocates and I had our hair washed/rinsed before our styling. Btw, that’s Jac‘s back view with her red Kate Spade bag.(: I was attended to by Gina, so if you like how my hair was styled, you can look for her to recreate the look or get her expertise to design a look for you. Vive Salon is on the 5th level of Paragon.

Pre Estée Lauder Makeover

After our hair was styled, we proceeded to the makeover area which takes up most of Paragon’s level one atrium, just in front of Coach boutique. That’s my au natural face and my fringe pinned up! I really love the Estée Lauder’s make up box with all the skincare and cosmetic goodies… It’s like a girl’s dream to own one and being skilled to create the magic on herself and on others. Speaking of which, one of my upcoming goals is to attend a course on professional/semi-pro make up so that I can learn how to better apply make up as well as teach others! (:

Estée Lauder Romantic Look

This was the look I chose for the makeover! Romantic look, with a darker purple eyeshadow. The lady featured on pamphlet is also one of Estée Lauder’s social media advocate, Eunice Leong.

With Estée Lauder MUA Tanny

Picture taken with the make up artist Tanny who created my look. (: She looks unbelievably young for her age (40) because she has been using Estée Lauder’s acclaimed Advance Night Repair (ANR) for almost 20 years, since her late teens. I was very impressed that she started using it since she was so young and she said it was because it’s due to her aunty’s influence who recommended it to her. I asked her how long a 100ml bottle can last her, and she says 3 months. Which is not bad considering how some product lasts only a month long.

A picture with Joan from Estée Lauder with a bevy of models behind us.

There were quotes from Estée Lauder models printed on the walls and this quote by Joan Smalls was on the wall near where I had my makeover and it’s also very close to my personal definition of beauty.

As advocates, we had video interview conducted individually, to be posted on to the event website (which I will upload the link when it’s out, I am both excited and apprehensive about how it turns out and how i look on screen! :P) and one of the question asked was “What is your definition of beauty.” And my answer is:

“Beauty to me is having a positive outlook in life and having a confident personality.”  – Ena Teo Jia En

I thought of this even before I saw Joan Small’s quote okay! ^^ Anyway I’m inspired to design my own “wall/ picture quote”. I shall and then upload on Pinterest, lol.

My lovely friend Belle, Pre Makeover Look

Meet my lovely friend Christabelle, in her pre-makeover look. I love how we are comfortable in our own skin without makeup! Girls, always remember to strive to have good radiant skin so that make up is only an added bonus to enhance your features, add (trendy/for vanity’s sake) colour to your face!

Belle having her hair styled
Hair Styling done by Vive Salon

After the make up, there are two rows of counters dedicated to hair styling by Vive Salon personnel.

Photo attack on V rejected

V here refused to be photographed by me. ): She looks good without make up btw! But alas, I think she is shy.

YL all calm and composed

YL’s all calm and composed as she is enjoying her makeover by Tanny as well.

After we all had our makeovers and hair styled, we had a group photo-taking! I was telling Belle and YL after the makeover that I was very happy to have them down for the event. Because truly, when Joy is shared, it is doubled and moreover I had 3 friends with me so my Joy was tripled! I am so blessed. :’)

Speaking of blessed, I am glad I got to meet Wee Tsu, one of the winner of the giveaway and her invite, Rachel. We took a picture for memory but she requested not to post the photo. It was really nice getting to meet and know them. I hope I get to interact more in the future with my blog/FB followers in real life!

Group Shot with Belle, YL & V
Estée Lauder Makeover Group Shot 2
Behind the scene photo of my individual photo shoot. Haha!

The photographer was amazingly fast, he was like “thunder-lighting” fast, as Belle would say. The group and individual shoot time was all of about 5 minutes respectively!

My Estée Lauder Makeover Photo

There were about 7 looks taken and I chose to develop a more offbeat look for my take home photo because it’s different from what most chose. This is a “Hey-I’m-peering-over-my-vanity-table-oh-you-caught-me-oops” look. I totally won’t have dared to pose like that but it was the photographer’s idea. Told you he was good. (;

Estée Lauder Preview Night Door Gift

The Estée Lauder preview night door gift included a Sensuous Nude perfume, Tempting Melon nail lacquer and pure color 18 Bois de Rose lipstick.

Scene of CBD from Singapore Flyer

Right after the makeover, YL and I cabbed down to the flyer where her family was waiting for us. She redeemed tickets from her company and invited me along! It was a truly eventful night for us. I will blog about my first experience on the flyer in another post, so this is only a teaser/preview photo! (:

Do follow Estée Lauder Sg FB page here for updates as well as be ready for giveaways when they are happening! (;

To end off, I want to thank Estée Lauder’s generosity in hosting my friends and FB giveaway winners. Many thanks also to the lovely team at Estée Lauder who worked hard and is still working hard all of this week to allow us and many more women to have their “best” look!  Having experienced it and had so much fun with my friends, I would strongly recommend you to register for the event with your best friend(s). Blessed 22nd Birthday

Hello! Firstly I would like to extend a warm welcome to all my new readers, as I have a substantial amount of new readers from my current giveaway. (See here.) Secondly I would  like to thank all my friends who have supported me in this giveaway by liking my Facebook page, liking the giveaway and sharing the giveaway with their friends on Facebook.

Also, I have activated my personal Facebook account’s Subscribers function so please subscribe here! There isn’t much public information at the moment, as I have not yet figured out the privacy settings on Facebook (taking a bit more time than I expected) but I will figure it out! (: When I’m done, I will also add a personal account Facebook badge on the side bar of my blog. There’s so many things I’d like to do, like adding a page on people who inspire me, I need to stop procrastinating!

So, you should probably know by now that I’m a 22 year old lady! Woohoo! *twirls around with confetti in the air* I would like to thank my Father God in heaven, my family and friends who have supported me through the last 21 years and made me who I am today. Also thank you all who have taken the special effort to wish me Happy Birthday in face, call, SMS, Twitter and Facebook! (Yes in that order, I am particular like that. :P)

My birthday week isn’t even over yet but I am already overflowing with blessings from the 5 weekdays and I am so grateful to God and everyone who has made all these happiness and joy of mine possible. :’) Thank you, thank you and thank you.

If you’ve been following me on Instagram and Twitter, you’d know that I was at Estée Lauder’s HQ office on Monday evening as I was shortlisted to be their Social Media Advocate. After an interview with the lovely Estée Lauder marketing ladies Amelia and Joan, I was confirmed to be selected as Estée Lauder’s Social Media Advocate. It’s an appointment which I will soon update across all my social media platform profiles. I am extremely elated and grateful. 🙂

On my birthday itself, I went out with bestie @Yinglingahh for dinner, shoe-shopping (her gift to me) plus desserts! She wrote a really sweet blog post for me, thanks dear! As she wish to be more low key, I won’t post the link to her blog, but it’s on my blog somewhere! 🙂

Shoe Shopping with YL

Our Cafe Bistro East Side Brownie.

I12’s Cafe Bistro East Side Brownie

It was too much for us, we only finished about half a brownie each! The serving size is great, the brownie is compact and not the fluffy kind. The vanilla ice-cream is awesome, the dessert was definitely too sweet, but I’ve got a sweet tooth anyway so I don’t mind. By the way, Cafe Bistro at I12 Katong has a 50% discount for their coffees, cakes and pastries after 9pm. They also have a one for one main course promotion on weekdays, great deals people!

Dinner with Jingwei on Wed at Bedok Point Bishamon. This dish, my friends is super tasty, I love it! Thanks Jingwei for the treat, I am so loved by my friends. ^^

Then when I returned home… guess what was waiting for me ?

Then I went to office to collect…

Then it was training time at Estée Lauder’s counter at Isetan Scotts. ^^

Before training at Isetan Scotts Estée Lauder
