Olivia Bee’s Fairytale Film [Il Est Pour Nous] Featuring Hermès

Hey’all lovelies!

Today I’d like to share with you the works of Olivia Bee, particularly images and a film that was commissioned by Hermès Paris.

Olivia Bee is a talented, young (only 18!) and beautiful american photographer based in Oregon. So the story goes that Hermès Paris saw her works, liked it and decided to send her 30 scarves (which she had to return after), an idea of a story about a Prince and Princess and voila~ These are the resulting creations of Olivia Bee.

Olivia Bee’s style is emotive, lush, ethereal, child-like and fairytale-ish. It’s fascinating that Hermès Paris has given her so much artistic license to create the elfs hat and ribbon hat out of Hermès scarves.

If you liked the images, you’ll love the film – check it out here:

It’s a film full of WIN isn’t it? From retro cars and attires, bejeweled shoes, refreshing pool swims, COLOURED BUNNIES (omg), elaborate sofa and cupcake set in the forest to full on kisses, Olivia Bee’s fairytale film takes the cake in her genre.

I am inspired by Olivia Bee. She’s a living example of a talented lady, pursuing her passion thus so inspiring that a renown brand like Hermès would extend a collaboration with her. Amazing! You go girl!

Have you come across anyone, works, images or films recently that you find very inspiring? If so, leave me your reply in the comment box below!

Trend Highlights | Luxurious Glamour Fall Winter 2012 Featuring Dolce & Gabbana

Hi lovelies!

Today I’ll be sharing the first of two major Fall Winter 2012 Trend Highlights on my blog. The first of which is Luxurious Glamour, mainly featuring runway looks from Dolce & Gabbana, one of the most outstanding label for this Fall Winter season!

Luxurious Glamour

Luxurious Glamour features two sub categories, Shakespeare in Love & Luxe Velvet.

Shakespeare in Love – From designs that mimic tapestries to ornate baroque flourishes, the fall runways exude a Renaissance spirit. Key labels leading the way are Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Balmain & Marchesa.

Luxe Velvet – The appearance of a luxurious textile, one would gush in pleasure at the velvet of her touch. Key labels featuring velvets are Gucci, Lanvin, Kenzo & Emporio Armani.

Dolce & Gabbanna Fall Winter 2012 Key Runway Looks

Every little detail comes together and creates a very precious and princess-y persona for the wearer/models.

The corset, as with the entire collection is so beautifully and intricately embroidered.

The gradual descent from light and airy colours to dark and opulent colours.
I AM IN LOVE.
I wish I could wear the entire collection for my whole Fall Winter 2012, seriously.

Nothing escapes the Dolce & Gabbana duo. These devils surely took note of every detail. Decorated hairband, earrings and necklace over laced top over laced brassiere. Perfection. *Dies*

Watch the royal Dolce & Gabbana army strut out in glamourous style.Remember. To. Breathe.

So, tell me, are you just as in love with Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall Winter Collection as I am? Or has another label captured your heart? Leave your reply in the comment box!

Her World Day Out with YL

Hi guys!

Hope ya’ll are having a great mid-week, yes? 😉

A few weeks ago, friend YL and I attended Her World’s Day Out event at Tangs Vivo. So we took some photos while we travelled to the event. Here’s one photo post-processed in Mei Ren Xiang Ji Poco Camera (read about my review/tutorial here.) and FotoRus frame! ^^

This is the crazy queue for complimentary (read free) manicure. LOL.

So the story goes that while we were queuing up for the free manicure, I uploaded the photo of YL and I above to Instagram and tagged #igsg. Frankly, at that point of time, I thought #igsg was a form of identifying photos from Singapore (that’s why I tagged it). I didn’t realize that it was actually an uber popular, “get popular” instagram account. AND SO the photo was featured on Igsg‘s account as well as sweetyoungthing‘s (cheesy I know) account!

@igsg had some 280,000 followers then (now it’s 301,000) on Instagram and after a few hours, the photo received almost 1000 likes! :O So just imagine YL and I spazzing when we realize we had our “15 minutes” of fame, hohoho! Basically @igsg reposts popular photos, about 1 every hour and only leaves 6 photos on its account at any one time.

The same photo reposted on to @sweetyoungthing‘s instagram account.

I’ll be meeting up with @igsg’s account owner, Ken for coffee this week and we might possibly work out partnership opportunities. How exciting! I’ll update you guys if and when we’ve worked out the details! (:

Photo of my nails, post manicure! ^^

Like how my photo looks like? I decorated the photo using Snapeee, the fairly new japanese decoration and sharing app, which I reviewed in the previous post here, check it out if you haven’t.

That’s all for now!

Shana Bugis+ Opening & Fashion Design Contest!

Hi lovelies! I’ve got exciting news to share! Shana, one of the fastest growing fashion concept in Spain with 200 stores opening every year (WOW!) and a grand international expansion plan, has now come upon our Singaporean shores! 😀 They are not only in Bugis+ shopping mall but also at JCube shopping mall. These are Shana’s store locations:

Shana Bugis + 201 Victoria Street #02-18 Bugis +

Shana JCube #01-24/25 Jcube, Singapore 60973

And… here are some photos from the event! Images are taken from Shana’s Facebook page. 🙂

Many eager shoppers in between the activities-filled opening event!

There was this whole table of wonderful and sweet treats. Mmm…

Shana’s white on pink polka dot wrappings are so pretty and apt for candy packages! They should consider opening a candy bar in their store! My friends and I loved the sour tapes… Makes me salivate just thinking about it… 😛 And the Pokka Sparkin’ Passionfruit flavour is seriously good. Go try it if you haven’t!

Uber energetic dancers on the floor! Think all the sugars from the treats table helped!

I was very fortunate to have won a 5 minute dress up contest for a “Party Look”. Thanks to my friend Clarabell for convincing me to take part in the contest! Hehe.

Here with friendly Siti, Shana’s store assistant who helped me with the look!

Thanks to Shana Singapore, I won a $150 voucher which I redeemed on the day itself too. (:

Pretty bags I brought home that day. ^^The 8 pieces of clothing I chose.

I am loving the tweed cardigan and the green cargo-style jacket!

Shana is a very affordable fashion label. Most of their basic tops are selling from $13.90 -$20 plus and there was even a promotion for selected tops at 2 for $13.90. After wearing their tops for a few times, I really like the material for the loose pink top as it’s lightweight, comfortable and definitely worth every buck. Their bandage skirts (the red one I wore in the photo above) are only $10.90 , and it’s made of comfy stretchy material.

Accessories! I love the gold and black combination. I exceeded the $150 voucher so I topped up about $20 plus for the accessories. 😀

Goodie bags upon entry and another one after winning the contest.

Want to win some prizes too? If you are based in Singapore, take part in Shana’s Fashion Design contest and you stand a chance to win $1000 if you are the 1st prize winner! Check out the details here:

Check out their Facebook page here for more details under their tab “Events”! “Like” them to receive their promotion updates too! (:

That’s all for now! Have an exciting season ya? (:

L.o.L <3, Ena

Note: This is not a sponsored review. I did win $150 voucher, as I mentioned but I didn’t have to blog about it. I blogged about it because I wanted to. (:

Fall Fashion IT Bags 2012 – Clutches Edition

Hi lovelies!

Recently I blogged about Fall (in Love) Fashion IT handbags and I’m following up with a Clutches Edition! I’m excited to be posting about them because I’ve selected a pretty long list of 42 clutches across 5 themes. I’m fairly certain that at least 1 of them will tickle your fancy. Haha!

1. Glamorous Renaissance

Fall Winter season is the season for lots of partying and gatherings, thus it’s natural for the bags to reflect the opulence of the season! These choices are great for formal gala dinners and events.

Kotur is a bag label that began in 2004 and I am absolutely in love with her abstract designs! Very architectural and avant garde.

Olympia Le-tan

If you haven’t heard, all of Olympia Le-tan bags are handmade, and limited to only 16 of each design, with the ‘first edition’ handmade by LeTan herself. Her bags range from 1000 pounds and above. Most of them resemble book covers, and have been touted the “intellectual” (maybe more aptly as pseudo intellectual, haha!) bags. Anyhoo, getting a Le-Tan bag is a quirky and unique addition to a consummate fashion bag collector’s collection! (;

Pierre Hardy

Pierre Hardy the designer is born and raised in Paris. He is currently the creative director of Hermes’ jewelry division. His label specializes in shoes and bags for men and women.

I am in love with the bag.

For the lovers of the chic & simple style, here are some selection that I love and I think you’ll love too! A chic & simple bag is also perfect if you’re wearing fancy and elaborate gown and shoes to achieve a balance attire. (;

Fall (in Love) Fashion IT Bags 2012

Hi ! *Waves excitedly*

The long awaited post is finally here! Here are my top picks for Fall Winter 2012 handbags! (:

Dolce & Gabbana Embroidered Bags

Dolce & Gabbana’s created a beautiful and intricate Fall Winter 2012 collection inspired by the Renaissance motifs. Carrying these bags would resemble carrying pieces of art on your arms. I will be posting up selected photos of Dolce & Gabbana’s runway looks in an upcoming Fall Winter key highlights post, so do watch out for that! (;

Chanel Le Boy Flap Bag in AlligatorThis, my dear friends, Chanel’s Le Boy is fashion’s next IT bag. From what I’ve heard, they are already sold out in Paris! If you can afford it, this is the bag to add to your collection as it’s a classic design that’s sure to stand the test of time.

3.1Phillip Satchel

Personally i think the 3.1Phillip Lim satchel is distinctive and beautifully laid-back. It’s been around for sometime and I know I’m gonna sound overly dramatic but I feel that most people aren’t aware of just how beautiful it is.

Alexander McQueen Heroine

I spotted the Heroine bag months back when images of the FW bags first came out but it wasn’t until in July when I saw the variations (Leopard, Leather and Suede) that it really drew my attention. LDN Fashion describes it this way, “The design is elegant and classic, but retains that distinctly McQueen edge attitude.” I think the Heroine bag stands a chance to replace Celine’s luggage tote. What do you think?

Jason Wu Kate Python Embossed Calfskin bag

Jason Wu’s Kate bag takes after The Row’s square shaped bag. I’m guessing it’s gonna be a fraction of what The Row’s bag asks for, since it’s faux python/calfskin leather. But what I love about this bag? It’s super sprightly lemon green colour. ^^

DVF Fall Winter Bags 2012

I chose to feature these DVF bags because the colours are so spot on and trendy. As you know, I love fuchsia (IKR, it’s all over my blogskin!) and haven’t you heard, oxblood is Fall Winter’s 2012 key colour!

Anya Hindmarch Fall Winter Bags 2012

Anya Hindmarch’s claim to fame was her “I’m not a plastic bag” bag back in 2007/08. Handbag designer Hindmarch is very conscientious about compartments in handbags and I like how this bag is very practically designed with trendy colours and glitter! Which reminds me of another design I’ve seen recently, the Tiny Tim Light Up , it’s really cute.

Anya Hindmarch Tiny Tim Light Up

It’s a LED lighted bag that’s sure to make you the center of attention if you carry it on the dance floor, LOL.

Tod’s Fall Winter 2012 Bags

I was flipping through the magazines and Tod’s plum bag caught my attention. But alas, I think it looks better on the model / magazine spread then it does on its own. Tod’s bags are great for more formal events and work, plus it looks comfortably roomy!

That’s all for now! Let me know if you decide to get one of the choices above for this coming Fall Winter so that I can bask in your joy as well! Or let me know if you have a Fall Winter bag favourite which is not mentioned in this post! (;

Pop Up Store W.E. Workshop Element @ Wisma

Hi !

After a couple of non-fashion related posts, we’re back to fashion again! (;

I read about the news of W.E. Workshop Element back in August when it first launched but it’s not to late to announce it here on my blog because they’re still gonna be around for another 7 months! #Teehee.

According to their Facebook page:

W.E. – ‘workshop element’ is a retail platform gathering creative peoples’ work initiated by Singapore’s very own Alfie Leong.

More info. via RockTheTrend:

This new retail pop-up store officially launches today 17th of August, and will remain where it is for eight months. W.E. showcases an all-local ensemble of fashion designers and curators, a first of its kind space here, all 6,000 sq ft of it. The line-up of 19 brands and 16 designers/curators include young, emerging upstarts, veteran designers and fashion’s most familiar names. Local top model Sheila Sim‘s new clothing line Sceneplicity will also be included.

Check out the list of designers:

Image from W.E. Facebook

Just a few designers I’d like to highlight from the store:

Ling Wu is for the wanderers and urban warriors who are effortlessly cool, restless with energy and keen to veer off the beaten path.

Mystic Vintage by Jason Tong & Alvin Tan.
Mystic Vintage is an eyewear brand which carries the finest lineage of iconic and vintage frames. In 2010, they launched ‘Lullaby’, a modern frame which was inspired by the iconic vintage designs of the 70s.
I will definitely go down to check out the place within the next 7 months and will update my   experience when I do!

ESTEE LAUDER VIOLET UNDERGROUND FALL 2012 Q&A with Liu Wen

Hello!

As mentioned in my post earlier, here’s the Q&A with Chinese supermodel & Estée Lauder Spokesmodel, Liu Wen. (:

Information credits to Estée Lauder Press team.

ESTEE LAUDER FALL 2012

PURE COLOR VIOLET UNDERGROUND

Q&A with Liu Wen, Estée Lauder Spokesmodel

1)     Where is your favorite place to be in fall?

I think Paris, because when I’m there for fashion week every October, I always love seeing the beautiful colors of the trees along the Champs-Elysees. I always imagine myself and a good friend sitting there, drinking coffee outside.

2)     How does fall in New York differ from fall in Beijing?

I don’t think there is too much difference. Maybe Beijing’s weather is drier on my skin.

3)     Will you celebrate Halloween? If so, what costume will you wear?

I really like Halloween, but I never wore a costume because I always think about what I want to wear, but never make a decision! I do pass out candy to the kids who come by my apartment though!

(Ena: Yes I will, with my classmates again! See my 2011 celebration here. Not sure, but I will start thinking about it! :D)

4)     What’s your favorite fall meal?

What I eat during fall is pretty similar to every other season, but because it might be drier, I make sure to eat meals with more vegetables, and of course more fruit during the day.

5)     What is your favorite fall activity?

Going on a short trip outside the city so I can have a picnic with my friends!

6)     What is your must-have fashion item for the fall season?

A big bag that can hold a lot of items! I feel like I have more and more to carry every season.

(Ena: I love furry vests & berets, so they would be my must-have fall items. I carry big bags everywhere too! My current Mango bag is tearing at the handles due to all the weight of the books I’ve been carrying. >.<)

7)     What’s in your handbag?

Three phones (One French, one American, and one Chinese), my wallet, keys, iPod, Lumix Camera, eye drops, travel size jar of Estée Lauder Nutritious Creme and a bottle of water!

(Ena: That’s a lot of phones she’s carrying! I always wondered how people manage with so many phones!)

8)     What were your favorite fashion shows for Fall 2012?

Jean Paul Gaultier, because the show itself is always a playful performance.

Balenciaga, because the outfit I wore was one of my favorites this season.

Oscar de la Renta, because I wore a gorgeous princess-style dress!

(Ena: Mine would be Balmain & Valentino for their intricate and lovely Shakespearean / Renaissance inspired embroidery & Victorian Beckham for  her sleek and modern take on MIlitary style. Trés chic. More about them in another post sometime soon!)

9)     How do you prepare for Fashion Week?

I make sure that I’m ready for it mentally, because it can be very stressful. But most of the time I just do it!

(Ena: Speaking hypothetically if I were to take part as a blogger/press, I would prepare for Fashion Week about 1 month in advance, making sure I have my array of classic items to be matched with trendy / covetable fashion items. I might link up with my favourite brands and work out my various attires in advance. I will definitely select which shows to attend and then plan my schedule around it. I will also prepare interesting / dying questions to ask celebrity designers, models and artistes when I meet them. Of course, I’d make sure to charge and be armed with my trusty gadgets like IPhone and camera to capture and record all the flurry of Fashion Week. (; )

10)  What is the best style advice you’ve ever been given and by whom?

I don’t think anyone has given me direct style advice, but I do check street style websites a lot to get ideas.

(Ena: It would be to be more adventurous in my style and given by my bestie, Bini. By far, Bini has the most unique and daring fashion sense amongst everyone I know irl.)

11)  Do you have any tips for taking a good photo?

Just smile!

12)  What is your fall skincare routine?

First I apply Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator because it’s gentle and gives my skin an amazing glow. For moisturizer, I love Hydrationist because it absorbs quickly and keeps my skin hydrated all day long.

(Ena: You can check out mine here: My Skincare Routine with Estée Lauder Refining Pore Minimizing )

13)  What will be your go-to fall beauty look?

I absolutely love how modern and dramatic the colors are in the Estée Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette from the Violet Underground Collection. Also, the new Double Wear Two Tone Zero-Smudge Eye-Opening Mascara is great because the brushes are designed specifically for Asian women’s lashes.

14)  What was your favorite part of the beauty look from the Derek Lam Fall 2012 show?

I really loved the undereye part where they painted fake eyelashes onto the skin-it was a really cool effect.

15)  What is the best makeup tip you received from Tom Pecheux?

Tom taught me that I should always have two colors of foundation ready, so I can mix them together to get the exact right color. Also, before you apply a dark eyeshadow, always put on mascara first because it helps prevent the eyeshadow from falling onto the bottom part of your eye!

16)  What is your favorite part of being an Estée Lauder spokesmodel?

There are too many to name, but I love that I learn so many beauty tips and feel like a part of a family. Also, I met wonderful friends like my fellow spokesmodels, and I will cherish their friendship forever.

(Ena: Similarly, there’s too many to name. I’m not an Estée Lauder spokesmodel per se, but as an Estée Lauder Social Media Advocate, I love receiving new Estée Lauder skincare and makeup products which have become an integral part of my lifestyle. It has acquainted me with other advocates like Jac, allowed me to bring my friends to makeovers, given me so much content to share with my readers and increased the interest I have for skincare and makeup. Thank you Estée Lauder Singapore! )

17)  What are you listening to on your ipod?

Lana del Rey, Adele and Chinese artists like Fan Weiqi.

(Ena: Song of the moment most probably Good Time by Carly Rae Jepson & Owl Time. My most recent songs on repeat are Primmadonna, Wild One & Chasing the Sun. I also like songs by Fan Weiqi, especially 一比一

18)  What is your new favorite restaurant and where is it?

ABC Kitchen! It’s here in New York.

19)  Did you have a nickname growing up?

I didn’t really have one, but my mom always called me “bao bei,” which is “honey” or “baby” in Chinese.

( Ena: My mum calls me “En-ah!” which is a short form of my mandarin name Jia En, and my friends also call me Ernie and En. )

Ena Vlogs | Estée Lauder Violet Underground & China Doll Hair

Hello!

I hope your September is going well? I know mine sure is! (;

It’s yet another Ena Vlog! ARE YOU EXCITED?! On average, it takes about 10 times as long to product a vlog compared to a blog post, and I’m not exaggerating. I take about 30 min to write and publish a post (mostly, if I don’t need to edit the photos or prepare to take the photos) but I take about 5 hours to film, edit and publish a vlog. Even if it’s about 5 min long. @-@ Haha! But I’m enjoying making these vlogs. Well I do hope I get faster at it. And more humorous. And more entertaining. And more awesome. 😀

Ena’s August in Photos (:

Hello !

First off, a big WELCOME HUGGGG + KISSESSS to my new readers who found out about me through my FB page ad. campaign! Thanks to FB, who generously offered me $50 ad. campaign fund to reach out to more readers through FB! (:

Next up, I have a whole line up of posts from outings with my friends in August, most of them which are food related. All you foodies, get ready! I have posted some photos on Instagram, follow me @ena_teo if you’re on it. If not, check my pictures out here. My Instagram is pretty much a visual folder of all the things that make me happy; friends, food, coffee, colours & pretty pictures. (:

Now I’ll let the pictures do the talking!

If you haven’t seen it, here’s the Stella McCartney Brass Heart & Key necklace I won from a contest organized by Clozette.

The necklace retails online for £235 on the UK website here. Thank you Stella McCartney & Clozette! (: Been wanting to wear it but I find the chain a little too short and have not been able to match it for an appropriate occasion yet. >.< Also the folks at Clozette are real nice! Many thanks to Anna’s hospitality when I was at their office collecting the prize. She’s from the Philippines and we had a good chat about the beautiful beaches there, mainly me saying how much I’d like to go to Boracay, haha!

Next up a picture I took with the lovely Kat on the first day we were back in school for a combined lecture! It’s been 4 weeks / 1 month since we started school, how time flies! it’s the finale year of degree and I will definitely miss school when it’s over! TIME! Don’t go by so fast! Slow down! >.<

I took these pictures on the same night I attended the Hermes the Gift of Time exhibition and Underscore Flight Magazine launch, on the bus ride home. Photos were processed on IPhone app Camera360. ^^

My nail candy thanks to Estee Lauder. This is in Tempting Melon (which I thought turned out to a be a beautiful & trendy coral colour) plus ribbon stickers. I did the manicure on my own btw, nice right? ^^
I love coffee! (If you don’t already know >.<) This is Mac Cafe’s Caramel Macchiato (means steamed milk).

This was meant to be on Instagram but it never got uploaded cause of bad internet connection. Say hi to my 2 new puppies, Lulu & Lala!

JUST KIDDING! They don’t exist irl. They are merely printed on a pouch my Aunt gave which I am now using to keep my reading specs safe from scratches. Makes me happy just to see them everyday. ^^

Okie! That’s all folks!

Next post on Estee Lauder’s Violet Underground Fall makeup collection coming right up! (;

Hermes The Gift of Time Exhibition Photo & Video Review

As I mentioned in a post earlier, Hermes presented an exhibition titled “The Gift of Time” fashion / art exhibition and I managed to catch it with my friend Ace on the last day, just about an hour to go before it closed! (;

This is how the interior of Tanjong Pagar (defunct) Railway Station looks like. Pardon for the blurry images cause the lighting was quite dim and there was an all around red/orangey hue.

Upon entering the exhibition, we see this clock/sun-dial with a horse motif clock hand which reflects a horse shadow. It’s a lovely combination of fine artistry/design and science.

The first room is filled with videos and quotes about time. I spotted quotes in English, Mandarin and French.

Here are some of my favourites:
The second room is titled “Time Suspended” and it’s about the amazing history made by an equestrian that jumped a hurdle so high that has not been broken. The bar in the room reflects the exact height of the record. It’s been said that the jump was so high and spectacular that in that moment it felt like time was suspended. Therefore Hermes was inspired to create a watch with the essence of “Time Suspended” which encapsulates the spirit of Man pushing limits.

This video screen on the sand is position in front / below of the watch and I love how technology and video is artiscally integrated into the exhibition.

In the same room hangs a series of horse saddles over the centuries which is a testament to the evolution of Hermes horse saddles which represents their beginnings and their heritage.

There was a guide for each room and the exhibition would not have been complete if not for the stories and background they shared! I think Hermes Singapore / exhibition organizer did a great job in engaging and training the guides because I thought them pretty spectacular, they memorized the whole script and most if not all of them were impeccably dressed and smart looking.

In the fourth and my favourite room, titled “Time Balance”, there is a huge and revolving top which has a set of water filled but always balanced glasses in the middle. It illustrates the idea of how all of us have the same number hours of time in a day and balancing/managing life/time is not a mean feat but it’s possible. It’s a profound concept and I am most impressed with how it’s so beautifully conveyed.

The tablewares displayed are all designed by Hermes.

In the fifth room which I didn’t manage to catch the name of, it showcases Hermes’ expertise in leather in beautifully designed and interesting artworks. The first part is a pendulum of bags. The green bag acts as the gong and the two brown luggages vibrates.

Watch them in action in a video compilation of clips I took from the exhibition:

In the same room there are artworks designed and made with Hermes leather such as the parrot and the cat face. They are made up of beautifully coloured and various types of leather varying from rough to smooth. The guide encouraged us to touch the varying textures.

Yay for being able to touch the display in the exhibition! 😀In the fifth room titled “Imagination Room”, viewers are encouraged to relax on the cushion seating areas and gaze at the coloured reflection from a bowl of water.

In the sixth and last room there’s a see saw in front with huge tree in the middle, a tortoise at the bottom of the tree and a horse cuckoo clock on the tree and glass framed displays that light up at different and seemingly random order. I didn’t quite catch the meaning of this room but I think it was about chance and surprise.

The horse comes out to cuckoo every 3 minutes. Haha!

As I mentioned in the video above, I enjoyed the exhibition very much. And as I review the exhibition in this post, I ponder and realize that the exhibition was intentionally and well-designed to allow viewers to experience the exhibition through the various senses of touch, sight and hearing. It is also a beautiful reminder of how Hermes takes pride in her heritage, fine craft and artistry and educating the people about them.

Haven’t had enough of Hermes from this post? Check out their video related to the exhibition here:

The exhibition is curated and created by US-born artist and poet Hilton McConnico, and the series of installations will make use of its surrounds – the de-commissioned train station itself a contemplation on the passage of time – to invite viewers to explore the ways we make use of the most evanescent and valuable aspects of life: time itself.

The Gift of Time exhibition will run from August 1 to 12, 11am to 9pm daily. Admission is free. Find out more about the traveling exhibit by heading over to Hermès’ dedicated minisite. Also check out The U Cafe, a pop-up cafe in conjunction with the exhibition.

I have yet to go down for the exhibition but I plan to this weekend. This is the last weekend of the exhibition, so do go down to check it out before it’s too late!

If however you are unable to make it down for the exhibition personally, do check out Moonberry’s visually arresting blog post here.

I fell in love with Versace Fall 2012 Collection when I saw it first released on Style.com. Jessica Alba puts it best: “sexy, strong, warrior.”

Here are my top 4 favourite looks from this collection which will definitely be etched in my mind. I love how the designs of this collection is very fluid, flowy yet daring and empowering. Very fitting for a modern lady that’s unafraid of her femininity, sexuality and ability.

Trending | All Things Tribal Summer 2012

In continuation with my Summer Trends series, Tribal fashion is in right now.

Tribal Background from LayoutSparks.com

Whether it’s Tribal prints on dresses, bikinis, shoes, Tribal motifs on bags or Tribal-inspired accessories, All Things Tribal are trending this summer.

Tribal prints and Tribal inspired fashion is similar to Leopard prints, when worn appropriately; it adds character, individuality and a touch of exoticism to your wardrobe without ever going out of fashion.

We see it on celebrities Nina Dobrev and Heidi Klum…

Nina Dobrev in Tribal Skirt

I’ve only recently seen this young starlet in action in The Vampire Diaries after a friend’s (huge TVD fan) relentless persuasion and man, she is gorgeous on screen. She is seen rocking a Tribal Skirt here.

Harper’s Bazaar UK tracks the trend on the runway, with Burberry’s tribal trench and accessories leading the trend.

Style | Modern Classic

In the second installment of my Style series, I picked out a few Modern Classic pieces.

Classic styles are fashion pieces that you can look good in whether 5 years ago or 5 years later. Modern Classic styles are pieces that are updated with a touch of today’s urbanity, so you look classic but also relevant by infusing certain trends into the classic style.

Modern Classic style is ideal for women who work in corporate environments who cannot dress too outstandingly but still appreciated to dress in a trendy and relevant manner.

It is also a smart and easy way of dress, once you acquire the Modern Classic sense of aesthetics, you’ll be able to make wise purchases that you can wear repeatedly and ideally the individual pieces can mix and match well with the other items in your wardrobe.

Two key brands that represents the Modern Classic aesthetics are Paul Smith and DKNY. Season after season, they present runway pieces that are simple, classic and yet relevant.

Quite understandably, women around the world look towards the wives of the men in Politics / Royalty like Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama for Modern Classic style tips. Indeed they are in the precise position of requiring to look powerful, regal yet modern and relevant.

Kate Moss is another example of the Modern Classic lady with, a few years back, she made famous the boyfriend blazer look and she has gone on to collaborate with high-street brands like Topshop.

#FollowFriday | Rosaleen Gallagher

Starting from this Friday, I will be sharing interesting followers of my blog, on my blog.

I love the WordPress community because it allows a lot of interaction between bloggers. I love discovering other bloggers with similar interests, and am very encouraged when I receive “like” and comments on my posts which further motivates me to produce more good quality posts.

Hence I came up with the idea of sharing these bloggers that share the same interests as I do and also inspire me with their posts. If you enjoy reading my blog, you’ll also highly likely enjoy reading theirs! 😉

The first blogger I’d like to share with you is Rosaleen Gallagher. She blogs at http://rosaleengallagher.wordpress.com/ which she affectionately calls “Mixed Gems” with topics about Beauty, Fashion, Culture & Lifestyle. Unbelievable as it may seem (to me), she started following my blog 7 months ago and those were the times when each follower I gained was a milestone in my blogging journey. It still is now, except it’s more like every 10th follower is a new milestone. 😛

I’ll let Rose share about herself from her About page here.

My name is Rosaleen Gallagher and I am known to most as Rose. I am a 22-year-old English Literature student in Liverpool, originally from Birmingham.

Rosaleen Gallagher

In September 2010, I launched Mixed Gems. Initially I was exploring my love for writing, but now my blog has become an integral part of my everyday routine and my favourite hobby. It has been read by the likes of Pixie Lott and attracts thousands of viewers every week.

As well as blogging, I love all areas of social media. In January 2012, my twitter feed was longlisted for the Marie Claire Best Beauty Twitter Feed Award.

During my spare time, I like to do lots of creative things. I was trained from scratch as a makeup artist at my favourite Liverpool salon, Peaches and Cream. Most recently I have joined Bethanie Lunn’s team as a writer for The Modern Girl’s Guide, one of my favourite blogs.

I love that we’re both of similar age and she really inspires me that it’s possible to accomplish so much more by sharing about the passions in our life.

If you think this “Follow Friday” blog topic is a great idea, please like it, follow me and who knows, you might be the next featured #FollowFriday blogger here! 😉

I have not decked out in florals yet this summer, but I will find a reason and time to do so before the sun runs away! Let me know if you’ve got Floral outfit posts, I wanna see! As usual, send your loves and comment! (;

While writing these Trending & Style posts, I’ve been scouring online sites for cool items and pieces that catches my eye… And whilst it’s tiring I love writing these posts knowing that readers enjoy reading them as well. And I am thinking, I could live as a personal shopper, if my client trusts my aesthetics for her, I could buy items and be paid on a commission basis… What a cool idea this is! But of course, I’d rather be shopping for myself. (;
