I turned 27 recently over the past July. And that got me thinking that I’m 3 years shy of hitting the big 30 . It seemed so far away, when I was in my early 20s, but all of sudden, I have friends who are past 30, more are getting married and even pregnant. No, I’m not thinking about marriage – it’s still a milestone that’s not even remotely near in sight because I’m still very much single. But my recent birthday did got me thinking, just what did I achieve in the last 3-4 years since I started working and how far am I from achieving what I’d like to achieve?
And while I am not doing exceedingly well in property as some top producers are, I am doing better with every year which I am thankful for. While I still don’t own a car or close to owning my own property, I believe that these goals will become a reality in time, if I continue to be conscientious in providing good service and strategic in my plans as a property agent. Hopefully these goals will be reached sooner than later, especially since the property market is picking up in Singapore.
And while my current love life is almost non-existent (yes I admit I am picky) I am very blessed with a wide circle of friends – not just hi-bye friends but really good and supportive friends who make my life better with laughter and valuable encouragement, advice and insights.
And it got me thinking – what do I make of my life when I am 30? Heck, what do I make of my life at the end of it? Am I just going to work hard, be successful in my career, own a car, a house, find a good husband, get married and have kids? Is that all there is to my life?
Don’t get me wrong – to work hard, be successful in one’s career, own a car, a house, find a good husband, get married and have kids – that’s a great life right there. I want a life that’s greater than just these, a life that goes beyond just me.
I starting thinking – if I die today, will I leave a legacy behind? And if I do, what will that be?
I may never be able to be the next Mark Zuckerburg of Facebook, Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google, Bill Gates of Microsoft or Warren Buffet of the stock market world – but I still want to be able to leave a legacy and impact on this world that will live on even when I die.
My ambition in addition, or maybe in continuation of being a producing real estate agent, is to own and manage businesses and be a real estate developer (or part of a committee) when I am older. I also want to make an impact on this world by inspiring others to live a positive life – something I try to achieve through my social media platforms.
Right now I may not be able to see clearly what kind of legacy I will be leaving behind, in both tangible and intangible ways – but I believe that if I live my life earnestly one day at a time, I will be able to slow piece together the picture of my life that I envision.
No matter how old you are right now – I want to encourage you that you’re never too old to dream dreams and to achieve them.

You’ll see a lot of pretty peranakan-style shophouses in Penang, similar to those along Katong in Singapore. I love the relief designs and the exterior of shophouses in general, so you’ll be seeing a lot of them in my post today! Lol!
Took a photo of this building exterior because it’s interesting. I’d admit it’s not pretty, but definitely unique!
Took a photo so I can figure out later where this kopitiam is located at, but I can’t find it online, except that it’s along Jalan Penang, rofl.

A relic looking building hoarded up possible for works. Reminds me of Malacca. After visiting Penang, I came to realize that Penang has a lot of similarities to Malacca, with the strong cafe culture, a heritage centric zone, Peranakan influence, relics and a lot of awesome local food. The main few differences at the top of my mind is that Penang is much further from Singapore and also famous for Penang beach. Malacca also has a seaside, but not as famous as Penang.
I love the industrial chic interior style, which is all the rage in interior design lately.

After crossing the courtyard, we made way into a cafe abounding with cat drawings. 
They provide paper and drawing materials on the table for customers to doodle, draw and colour! What a fun idea.
Basically The Canteen at Chinatown is a traditional compound of 3 heritage buildings, linked by an open air courtyard and converted into 14 spaces comprising shops, cafes, restaurants, galleries, live music and bakery. Visit their website 
We also popped by this coffee shop selling coffee beans.
And walked through another coffeeshop with quirky interiors, to say the least.
And a really pretty courtyard. Except it was really too hot to to be out.

The beauty of travel is finding the otherwise mundane lives of the locals, fascinating.
Buildings that might be otherwise overlooked by locals become outstanding. Look at those dragon statues on the rooftop! I didn’t edit the colours of of my photos (trust me when I say it will take forever to edit 222 photos, maybe you will only see it in 4 years if I do, lol) but if I did, this building will look even more remarkable. 🙂
When I’ve earned enough money from making a living, I’d love to travel the world, take photos for inspiration and design collections be it fashion, beauty or interior design from each travel! That’s my dream. 🙂

I had Aiyu jelly, which was yums. Gotta admit though, the street stall didn’t seem very hygienic.
We also passed by this Georgetown Wines, which seems like a really pretty and laidback evening spot.
And then we came to Kedai Kasut, where world famous shoe designer Jimmy Choo started his apprenticeship!

After dinner, we headed back to rest. And then mum, sis and I headed out for supper. HAHAHAHA. I know. I too, am surprised that we had the stomach for supper. XD We just walked down on the further left side of Red Rock Hotel where there’s a lot of hawker and coffeeshops and we opted for one that seemed cleaner and more spacious. 🙂
They have a lot of ingredients displayed, customers order and the chef cooks on the spot.

Tbh, supper was not spectacular. It was a tad too oily. I think the experience of having supper was more fun than the supper taste itself.

Gurney Plaza is just next doors. But Gurney Paragon is so big, we didn’t even have time to finish shopping the mall alone in 2 hours.

We bought a lot of snacks from Ban Heang which was just next doors to our hotel, haha.
We didn’t shop a lot, bought a few clothings and masks.

We came to Hard Rock Hotel for drinks. The live band was really pretty good! I really enjoyed the songs they sang. Again, another reminder I should do vlogs for my next trip. 🙂
After the rain stopped, we headed to Tree Monkey. 
We opted for this Asian Tapas set.
Unfortunately we missed the sunset, the owner recommends coming in the early evening for a beautiful sunset view.

For Day 3 breakfast, we decided we’re gonna try more local delights instead of hotel fare. So sis and I randomly chance upon this stall opposite the hotel.

We ordered kopi, teh and char kway teow.
I really wanted to try the famous salted egg yolk char kway teow but didn’t have a chance. This was a regular one.

After breakfast round 1 (yes, breakfast round 2 coming right up, LOL). We headed to walk about/around. We did so randomly and came by this pretty spot.

We started the dinner with Gu Ma Jia’s Vinegar Enzyme drink.
We had Gu Ma Jia’s Signature Beancurd, Crispy on the outside and soft inside, with a tasty dipping sauce.
Kyoto Pork Ribs – a feast for the eyes as well with the fire show!
Kyoto Pork Ribs is sooo delicious and tender – highly recommended!
Another top favourite, Kai Lan Yuan Yang – it is fried till it is crispy.
Prawn and Salted Egg Yoke. I’m allergic to prawns so I didn’t try the prawn but the egg yolk sauce/gravy is delicious! I love salted egg yolk dishes so much!
Claypot Wine Chicken with Ginger and Sesame Oil is another hot favourite dish. Frankly, I don’t know how we managed to eat so much that night, hahaha.
Gu Ma Jia’s Award Winning Assam Fish Head, is sweet and sour and hits all the right spots! I know my mum will love this.
Another special occasion top picks, White Pepper Crab. The white pepper has the kick!
Glutinous rice with vanilla ice cream, I really like this dessert! A blend of hot and cold, savoury and sweet.

Kate Tokyo’s Forming Edge eyeshadow palette in PK-1, my favourite of the 4 shades. The colour in the middle is actually more peach (pinkish orange) than pink, nonetheless the colours in the palette complements very well for a sweet and romantic look that’s wearable on a daily basis too. Super love!

Kate Tokyo’s Forming Edge eyeshadow palette in BR-3 is my second favourite colour of choice and I pick this colour on days when I want to go for a more understated glam look, like this:
Kate Tokyo’s Forming Edge eyeshadow palette in BU-1 is a colour I have yet to try but when I do, I’d likely match it with gold or orange to create a more friendly look rather than just full blue, which is a tricky look to wear on its own on a regular day.
Kate Tokyo’s Forming Edge eyeshadow palette in GD-1, unfortunately the powder came cracked when I received it, which goes to show how fragile it is, so do be careful when you handle them. Though the pigment and formula is great, and the fancy diamond packaging looks pretty, it does make it more fragile.
KATE Powdery Mousse BB. I have yet to try this out.
Rounding off my Kate Tokyo review with their Eyebrow Set, which comes with the brow palette, brush and comb, was retailing at $20.50, in December 2015. Not sure if you can still find the same promotion now. My Japanese friend commenting on IG (the same pic as above) that Kate is a very popular brand in Japan and that she has bought the same brow palette 10 times! Wow. However I am more of a eyebrow pencil kinda gal… I tried to apply and like this product but I am just not as efficient with this eyebrow palette as I am with the eyebrow pencil… oops.
That is why we need more than one brand in the market, such as Clio which caters to girls like me who prefers eyebrow pencil rather than eyebrow palette, although you an also spot their version above. They also have their Kill Brow All Day Tattoo (which sold out in Korean when they first launched), which is the K version of Benefit’s Gimme Brow, Gel Brow Pencil and waterproof eyeliners! Have actually yet to break into all of them yet, but do check them out in Watsons stores. As mentioned above, I highly recommend Clio’s Kill Black and Brown brush eyeliner and lately am also really loving their Gradation Dual Eyebrow pencil which is their new summer 2016 collection, which I will review in another post! 🙂
