Sephora Opens in Suntec City Mall

This is a pretty late entry (I will try to blog more promptly in future), but back in early Sep, 5th of September to be exact, I accompanied a friend with Sephora’s White Card (VIP member card) and went down for Sephora’s new store launch at Suntec City Mall. 🙂

I’ll let the photos do the talking and end off with a review of Sephora’s Suntec City Mall outlet launch event, also named “Beauty Night Out”. If you’ve read a post I wrote previously on “My Business Ideas“, in it I wrote that I’d love to have a beauty (makeup and skincare line) some day, so attending these events are not only great for my current job networking but also research for the future, heh. 🙂

Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening 1
Pardon the blurriness, not easy taking a clear shot with one hand. That was a goodie bag (box to be exact) tag for guests to claim at the end of the event. I forgot to take a snap of the box, but I will review a part of the box, to be explained later.
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening 2 Lancome
Several makeover booths by various brands stocked at Sephora. Each with obvious branding, this being Lancome. Surprisingly, there were not many queuing, I guess most came with made up faces!
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening 3 Lady Jayne
I have no idea what brand Lady Jayne is. I will google and share with you my findings. I am proud to say that I am proud of my google skills. Haha. #random

Ahh.. It is a hair accessories and styling brand from Australia. For more about them, check out their website http://www.ladyjayne.com.au/. They have a SG Facebook page here.

Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening Benefit Clinique
Makeup booths at a glance, Benefit, Makeupforever and Clinique. And ostensibly bigger crowd here, but what you can’t see from this angle are the Ciate nail booths before the makeup booths.
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening Ciate Bar
I think these were my favourite part of the entire pampering offers! Ciate is an exquisite nail polish brand with quirky nail ideas like Caviar manicure and chalkboard polishes, for example. As a beauty user, I tend to trust and buy a brand after testing, so this in my opinion is great for guests. However, I was not in the mood that day to actually test them, as I didn’t want to squeeze with the crowd. :/

Because I think you’d appreciate me sharing with you images of Ciate Caviar Manicure and chalkboard polishes, in case you have not seen them before!:

ciate_caviar_manicure_pink
Don’t ask me why they needed to put the tiny balls on the lips when it’s only meant for the nails.
caviar-manicure-11
So pretty isn’t it? 🙂

You can buy it on Amazon here at USD$25. (You’re most welcome.)

ciate-caviar-manicure-set

You can get the white one here and black one here, on Amazon.

Those cute little black ribbons just kills it doesn’t it? Makes these cute little bottles so charming!  I am a sucker for ribbons, totally.

Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening Ciate Nails
Nope, those obviously weren’t my hands. But proof that the booth though well equipped with sample / tester bottles, had too little space than demand required.
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening Fragrance Bar
A nifty frangrance bar offering engraving services for guests who purchase fragrances on that day. I think that’s a pretty neat service and will KIV this thoughtful service for a gift idea someday.
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening Ice Cream Bar
My second favourite part of the event, ICE CREAM. I die. The ice cream wasn’t perfect, I had mango flavour which was so-so, but any event that has free ice cream immediately scores high on my books. I won’t deny that I have a sweet tooth.
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening Nail Bar
Ok, I will admit, I did not quite get this. It says “Get Nailed” but it’s a legit alcohol serving bar! So I was expecting it to be a real nails pampering bar, but I think they meant more like get nailed/drunk. Sorry I am not fancy enough to get it the first time (if that’s what they meant). Haha! Wasn’t in the mood for wine that day (next day Friday still have to get to work) so too bad!
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening 11
Sephora invited several local TV and theatre celebs down as well as a what seems like tertiary cheerleading group down for a performance followed by rah-rah entry to the store’s grand launch.
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening 12
Sorry again for this being blur, as a result of me being highly amused and equally shy to be walking down the red carpet while flanked by cheerleaders cheering and smiling on like we were runners onwards the last lap towards the finishing line!
Sephora Suntec City Mall Opening 13
And a finally clear shot of the store front. The huge Sephora eye palette like wall/stand is where they stored all the goodie boxes for guest to redeem before leaving.

My thoughts:

The Good

It’s always nice to start off with what was good, or great. I thought the free makeovers and nail booths were very generous indeed. I liked that the venue was spacious while still feeling cosy and the handful of local celebs and another handful of famous/semi-famous (depends on how you look at it, if you know them they’re famous but if you don’t then they are not) bloggers like LadyIronChef and Melody Yap and many more makes one feel good to hobb nobb with an exclusive crowd. I also had my star moment, meeting Oon Shu Ann of Tried and Tested on Clicknetwork.tv and I wanted to take a picture with her but also shy and afraid I’d disturb her. (So unlike me, I know.) I liked the free flow of sweet bites and drinks. And the atmosphere of the event was very appropriate for an opening, understandably very enthusiastic with a host and video crew to engage the crowd’s interest throughout the night’s event. The goodie box, without a comparison, was not bad with several tester size products. I took an Urban Decay pouch and passed my colleagues the rest. I will try to review the tester products! 🙂 The photo-booth was really cute, if not for the fact that I wasn’t dressed for the occasion (I woke up that morning and forgot I had to attend the event) I would most certainly have posed gamely for it.

The Not so sure

I can’t say that I enjoyed the rousing cheer leading performance and the lead into the new store. It felt like it was a civilized version of a Lion Dance that got me very amused. I am not sure what stores usually do for openings, but I do think a local band performance with cute male and female models/talents flanking the grand opening entry will be more palatable for me.

For those of you who don’t know what a Lion Dance is, you may check and watch the above video to acquaint yourself with something quintessentially Asian, and perhaps soon to be dying traditional and cultural form of dance.

The Bad

As a VIP card holder’s invited guest, my friend (the card holder) and I were disappointed that we were given a goodie box, without a bag to bring home while we saw the media folks bring home what seemed like a very generous bag 4 times the size of what we had. As a marketer by day, it is a lesson I will learn for any brand/s I may manage now or in the future. I think VIP guests (and their friends who are likely to convert to VIP guests as well) are a big deal to any brand and they should not have to feel slighted at any event. Perhaps the organizer should take note to separate the guests and media event, so the former won’t have to feel slighted by the latter. Also, please, provide a bag for your guests so they won’t have to go to another store and be offered by the store with their bag. Which is what happened, my friend went to Royce to get chocolates and the nice store lady offered us their paper bags.

Additional Thoughts

I generally like Sephora’s clean and sleek image with a black and white colour theme so that all the pretty beauty and skincare products will stand out against their simple scheme. However at times, it can be intimidating when the space is empty (i.e. no one is around) and I will tend to want to exit as fast as I can as I don’t feel comfortable just browsing casually. I also understand that it’s Sephora’s branding policy to keep their brand element consistent, but I can’t help but feel, am I the only one that gets bored of brands that look the same every where? I much prefer H&M’s concept, to jazz things up a little with each venue, so no two shops look identical. What do you think? 🙂

Etude House Pink Play Party

Hello!

Venue & Pre-party

The venue was held at the spacious MBS convention hall and there was ample space to go around, so thankfully despite hundreds of fan girls, we didn’t have to feel overwhelmed. The idea was, the concert starts at 7pm proper, but at 5pm, the doors are opened for everyone to try out all the makeup and game stations before you collect all the stamps to enter the stage arena, to save your space for the concert. Needless to say, all the girls rushed to complete and be the earliest in order to get the front row spaces and hence closer to their idols. Station wise, I was quite impressed with the station decor and placement as it was very well done and had girly, theme park vibe to the entire place, much like entering an Etude House theme park. I also think the idea of making them complete the stations in a fun way was a pretty smart way of making them interact with the brand instead of just mindlessly waiting for the concert.

Not so good thing: To get a ticket, one needs to buy $100 worth of Etude House items, technically $20 for one item to get a ticket, collect 5 different tickets to get a chance to be the 1st 400 participants to score invite to the Pink Play Party. Yes, it’s that insane. And that’s how dedicated Kpop / SHINee fan girls are. In a way, you could say the girls paid at least $100 to watch the boy group perform, and Etude House threw in products to boot. But it’s a lot of effort on the girls part in order to get 5 different tickets to then exchange for 1 chance. What if they didn’t make it to the first 400?

Pre-concert & Concert

The doors opened at 5pm, my colleague & fellow Kpop lover Carissa and I reached at about 6. But since we had the Media invite, we didn’t have to go around to the stations to collect stamps before we could be admitted into the stage area to save our space for the concert. The event only started proper at 7.30 and the SHINee boys probably only came out at about 7.45pm. So that was approximately a total of 1 hr & 45 minutes of painful waiting which was necessary in order for us to get front row (technically we were standing behind one row of girls, but close enough!). I had to give it up for Kevin Lao Shi’s enthusiastic american accented English and his pretty and demure Kim Tae Hee lookalike model to make the 7 minutes make over pre-concert/obligatory Etude House marketing plug-in that much more bearable.

As for the concert, that was the real highlight! I highly doubt any girl bought tickets for the show to try on Etude House Make Up or check out Etude House theme park venue… It’s definitely for the boys!!! 😛 For me, I was definitely satisfied(x200%) to have seen the SHINee boys perform LIVE, about a mere 2metres away from me. 😀 Unfortunately my dearest Min Ho was not able to make it! 🙁 Nonetheless I was still extremely stoked to have met Tae Min & Key. Of the 4 present, Key was the only if not the most engaging member who took more effort to reach out to audience by like waving and smiling and acknowledging the fans. <3

I wasn’t very sure if they would be able to perform as they do on Music Bank, but they sure did, and 4 times over! I didn’t expect anything less than them decked out in pink pastels to suit the Etude House vibe, but if you had expected them to appear in their cool chic image, you’d definitely be disappointed. Over all, they are really good looking, personally I feel that Tae Min looks the prettiest, followed by Onew, who looked better in real life then Key then Joon Hyun. Maybe it’s personal preference because Jong Hyun had a lot of fans in the crowd too!

This event was definitely enjoyable for me, as I got to see Tae Min and Key whom I watch on We Got Married (WGM), in person. They were definitely every bit good looking as they are on screen, duh. They are also really really skinny. I wonder how they have so much energy with so little body mass.  >_< I also had a lot of fun experiencing the event and marvel at how Etude House, with their mission to make every girl a princess, integrate their user base’s passion for music and idols to be influencers for their brand across social media platforms (just like this article!). Pretty amazing and splendid job I must say! 🙂

My Business Ideas

It’s no secret that I aspire to be an entrepreneur some day, and hopefully soon.

Here are some ideas that I was telling, albeit jokingly with my tummy/PPG aka friend Sandy after dinner while shopping around Marine Parade, on Tuesday night.

1. We walked past this Chinese pastry shop at the basement of Parkway Parade right at the entrance of the Food Republic and I bought a red bean pastry which is relatively tiny at $1.60. So I said in future I also wanna open a pastry shop and asked Sandy, who is great at contemporary designs, to help me design the store.

Traditional Teochew bakery Thye Moh Chan
This one: Traditional Teochew bakery Thye Moh Chan

2. Then I also mentioned to her that I always wanted to open a cafe and a tuition center.

Cafe
People with Caffeine Addiction = Money Making Cafe
Tuition Centre
Kiasu Parents + Competitive Culture = Money Making Tuition Centres, seriously.

3. So maybe I will open a designer cafe that sells Chinese pastries for parents to eat and chill while their kids are studying or having tuition at the tuition center next door. Idea? 😀 Of course the kids themselves can use the place to study and chill.

Light-Bulb
Chinese Pastries + Cafe + Tuition Centre = Innovative IDEA

4. Then while waiting for Sandy when she was in the rest room I took a look around the Étude house shop which is a permanent stall near the atrium and I had SO MUCH FUN testing the lipsticks and pore eraser gels and blushers and what nots.

I want to buy them all!!! I want to be able to wear a new lip colour everyday, seriously.

Lip Colours
I tested more than these. TOO MANY COLOURS. A girl’s spoilt for choice!!!
Etude House Lip Colours
Grabbed this off somewhere else online, pretty sure they have like at least 3 different series of lip stick colours in store, 5 if you count in 2 lip gloss colour series. #Mindblowing #TooMuch #ConsumerismCulture

So I also wanna have my own cosmetics line! 😛

A girl's dream
A girl can dream, right? 😀

We also went shopping at Marks & Spencer and I discovered that they now have much nicer and younger stuff under the line “Per Una” and some of the perfumes smell really good!

This one is sweet but not sticky. Surprisingly affordable at S$25 for smaller bottles/vial, might also make sense to get a smaller bottle since perfumes take super long to finish.

5. The last business idea I have is one that I’ve thought about recently and wondered if I should really just give this a shot, which is to start giving small and casual talks on personal grooming and fashion tips since I graduated with a degree in Fashion Media & Industries (read marketing & management). It is definitely a topic that I am enthusiastic about and would love to share about it naturally and it also seems to be like a ready market where people would like to learn hands on and practically how they can improve on their personal style and pick up some fashion tips, right?

Fashion Styling & Grooming
Will you trust me to dish fashion styling advice & grooming tips?
MAC-by-Carine-Roitfeld-Collection-1
Can I be the next Carine Roitfeld?
anna-wintour-1
Or Asia’s Anna Wintour, maybe?

So with 5 good business ideas and the first three can be related…

Does anyone want to open a business with me? I do not have capital to offer but I have many wonderful ideas, an energetic youthful passion and a believe that with excellent products and stellar marketing, we can change the world (see Apple).

You may email me at enabalista@gmail.com, for serious offers only please. 🙂

New York Skincare Solutions Update

New York Skin Solutions

My previous review post on New York Skincare Solutions is really popular, and many readers have approached me either through the comments or email asking me about my treatments and experience with NYSS.

So I thought I’d compile my answers to the various questions which I’ve been asked and post them here.

If it’s the first time you’re here on my blog, you might want to check out my previous post here. Also as a background to this post, you might like to know that I signed up for NYSS package back in 2011. I have completed my treatment package of 20 sessions with NYSS since February 2013 and have not signed up with them since. The last time I had a facial was for my review for Glomax Aesthetics in June. At the moment I have not signed with any facial salons.

Also as with the previous post, I am not paid to provide this update on my blog. I also do not endorse NYSS. I do think they have helped to improve my skin condition, but I do not take responsibility for your experience with them, should you decide to sign with them. 🙂

Alright, enough with the introduction, let’s get the Q&A going! 🙂

1. How much is the price range for the 20 sessions?

I paid $2,200 for 20 sessions, 10 youth + eye treatment and 10 normal facial sessions. Back then I had face and back acne so I had the choice to use the “facial” for a “bac-ial” which was what I did for about 5 normal sessions.

I am fully aware that the package is very expensive for a student. And that is the reason why I am hesitant to state the price on my blog. But it is, in my humble opinion, a worthy investment because I am now so much more confident in person and on camera. It came to a point for me where I was sick of being troubled by problematic skin and I decided that facial was the best solution for me because it is a non invasive treatment and does not require me to take pills.

Additionally I want to repeat that facial did help but also with other factors like eating healthy avoid oily food, take Evening Primrose oil, and drinking more water.

2. Is the price inclusive of all the creams/facial products etc? If not inclusive, how much is the additional cost?

No, it is not inclusive. The creams and facial products differ from type to type. I have been sold their cleanser, toner but I only purchased their anti-bacterial powder which I applied on my face and back acne. It’s a small container about 30ml in size and cost $30. I think i paid $10 because I used $20 voucher to redeem it. Back then, I would get $10 voucher whenever I made an appointment before 5pm. Not sure if this is still applicable today.

3. Is the treatment addictive (meaning if you don’t go for treatments, will your skin problems return within say a few months)?

I wouldn’t say that the treatment is addictive. In fact the treatments did help me regain the balance required for my skin and my face and back is no longer as oily as before! In fact towards the end of the package, I only went back for treatments about 2-4 months interval.

4. Do they use many electrical treatments / chemicals?

I am not sure if they use electrical treatments, but from what I know, my facial did not include any electrical treatment. As for chemicals, I am sure they do, as do all the skin care products I purchase. But if you mean to ask if they are safe or not, I do think they are safe based on my personal experience.

5. I signed up for 20 sessions Youth treatment packages and 20 Ampules.. I tried to talk to my beautician on the possibility of selling this package to another customer, but she doesn’t respond well.. But from your blog, it seems that your beautician is nice.. I am wondering, do you think you will need more session of the treatment?

I am sorry to hear about experiences such as yours, but I do not need more sessions and hope you can find someone else who will.

6. When did you start to see the results, after how many sessions?

I can’t remember after how many sessions but I think it is 4 sessions and I didn’t apply foundation and now I also don’t so it helped as foundation tend to clog pores.

7. What is the procedure like when you go for facial at NYSS?

First I went for a free facial (as seen on Newspaper advertisement) and it included a skin analysis. I decided to go for $2200 for 20 sessions. You can try to negotiate the price lower, but the package might change according to your budget…

On normal days, I have to book at least 2 weeks before hand, then go down at the appointed time, go into the room, change and wait for my facial. Post facial, some paperwork then that’s about its. 1hour 30 min in total for each session.

That is all for my update on NYSS, hope it sheds some light or answers the queries you may have!

Be Beautiful, Inside & Out!

New Job, New Hair ;)

Hello!

So today I went to dye and trim my hair to prepare for my new job coming Friday!

20130717-172813.jpg

20130717-172843.jpg

I did it at a hair salon near my place!

And it is very affordable. The lady boss Ai Ling gave me a discount because it was raining and there weren’t many customers. I only paid $40 for this hair colour $20 for treatment totaling $60! Elsewhere it will cost me $120-200 depending where I go! So because Ai ling’s service is great, I asked her if she would like me to blog about it and give me readers a discount. She readily agreed!

For long hair like mine, hair dye is $60.
Treatment is $20.

So dear friends, you get a 20% discount when you quote “JIA EN” when you go down to Ai Ling’s salon! ^^ So for a $80 hair dye and treatment you only pay $74!

Call Ai Ling at 8218 0996 for appointment.

Address is: Blk 27A Chai Chee Road #01-379 Singapore 461027
opening hours: 9am-7.30pm daily.

Additionally, Ai Ling also offers facial at $28 but $25 for my readers !

I have not reviewed her facial before, but I will and let you all know. But if you are keen, her facial includes:
1. Cleansing
2. Pimple and black head extraction
3. Steaming
4. Mask
5. Massage
6. Eyebrow trimming

She has 22 years of experience in facial and hair beauty and it shows in her hair cut for me!

So I would recommended it to you:)

20130717-173946.jpg

This is how the shop front looks like! She’s very fast and can service up to 3 customers at once.. I saw how she services one customer in 10 min for a hair cut.

Alrighty, that’s all for now!

Be beautiful inside & out !

Glomax Aesthetics Facial Review

Hello! A while back I received an invitation from GLOMAX Aesthetics to try one of their facials for a non-obligatory blog review which I promptly agreed and I went down to the salon about 2 weeks ago, on the 14th of June. So though the facial I tried was complimentary, I am in no way paid to write a review for them, but I want to because I am glad to share my pleasant & positive experience with GLOMAX Aesthetics PR lady, manager and beautician as well as the overall ambience of the salon. Plus, there are also perks for YOU, my readers. 🙂 Read on to find out more! Now let’s let the photo do the talking, shall we? 🙂

Ena Glomax Review Before

Before I went down for the facial, I decided to dress up in my new floral printed dress which was perfect for a warm summer day!

GLOMAX Aesthetics – The Face Artistry

Fo location and contact details refer to the end of this post.

Ena Glomax Facial Review 2

The sixth floor walkway towards GLOMAX Aesthetics. As GLOMAX Aesthetics is located in Soho 2 adjacently above Clarke Quay MRT station, getting there is convenient by MRT. A little bit of a digression, but SoHo is a term that originally means South of Houston, shortened to SoHo where this area, in London was repurposed to the residential neighbourhood into small offices and shops. Credit wiki. Today, the term Soho in Singapore typically refers to buildings with home offices, offices that are small but fully equipped with toilets and kitchenette, where it can double up as both office and home! 🙂 So that’s why getting to GLOMAX Aesthetics is much like visiting a professional acquaintance that stays in a condo, both cosy and posh at the same time.

GLOMAX Aesthetics’s #06-168 homely entrance. Press the doorbell on the left to enter. 🙂

So after I was welcomed the staff of GLOMAX, I settled down at the counter for a consultation with beautician Sun.

After clearing the basic administrative work like filling in health forms, when was my last facial, where and what type, Sun took a look at my facial skin and recommended me to try GLOMAX Aesthetic’s Intensive Acne Medic Treatment.

Then I changed into their in house orange robe/dress. 🙂

Next, it’s time to take close up shots of my face, pre-facial for record purposes. 😀 Ena Glomax Facial Review 6

Ena Glomax Facial Review 7

Right profile. Ena Glomax Facial Review 8

Left profile.

This was shortly after my trip to Philippines abroad and I unfortunately didn’t take sufficient water and fibre and hence you can see a fair bit of pimples due to congested pores, especially on my right profile.

But otherwise, I am fairly happy with my skin condition as it is under control, not too oily. 🙂

I agreed with Sun’s recommendation to try their Acne Medic treatment which is described as such:

Suitable for problem skin with congested pores and acne, start with a sonic cleansing that gently lifts impurities and dirt off skin surface before the problem areas are healed with a mild antiseptic high frequency. Combined with acne IPL to rebalance the sebum level, problem skin will dramatically clear up after each session.

This description is from GLOMAX, and it is the exact treatment which I went through. After a gentle and thorough cleansing, Sun started with a sonic cleansing, removing the oil and dirt from the pore followed by normal extraction, before administrating IPL which stands for Intense Pulsed Light (wiki link). It is basically technology that utilises specific wavelengths of light to target various chromophores in the skin. What it does to my skin in this case, is to reduce my sebum level, but also has the effect of improving my skin tone and also reduce the rate at which my facial hair follicle grows. Extra information told to me by Sun but you can also refer to my researched link online from here.

It was my FIRST time undergoing IPL! So it was very interesting, to have strong lights shining down, much like take photos with very strong lights, but with eyes closed. It also certainly felt warm.

There are a few things to take note before undergoing IPL to achieve maximum effect from the treatment, that is to avoid strong sunlight pre and post the treatment, about 6 days, or risk undesirable effect/darkening of the skin. So I definitely didn’t go under the strong sun before the facial, as I’ve been avoiding the sun and applying sun block to prevent unnecessary pre-mature aging of the skin.

Also post treatment, I was instructed by Sun to take special care to moisturize my facial skin when it feels dry, which I sure did, as the haze in the air also had a drying effect. Even when I was hiding in the air-con from the haze as well!

Sun said it will take about 6 days to see the full effect taking place on my skin, that is for my skin to clear up and have smooth skin!

So what do I think of this treatment?

As assured by Sun, my skin did improve over the next 6-7 days after the facial. So I definitely think it was effective. I also enjoyed the facial under the trusted care of Sun who has more than 5 years of experience as a beautician with GLOMAX Aesthetics and before GLOMAX, she worked as an assistant to a dermotologist and before that, she studied in-depth about dermatology and thus has many years of knowledge as well as experience on facials and medical treatments on the face.

What’s my review for GLOMAX Aesthetics?

I would recommend them in under an heartbeat! The reasons are 1. They are polite and professional. When I was talking to them about some of how my readers (yes, some of you 🙂 ) have commented on the inconsistency of other facial salons and described it as “heng shuy”, meaning depends if you are lucky or unlucky, you will get good or bad beautician and corresponding services and treatments. However they, the PR lady and Sun assured me with smiles that with GLOMAX Aesthetics, service and quality is assured to be consistent. 2. Positive service approach. What I mean to say is, the feeling that I experienced and took away from GLOMAX was that my being and my judgement was placed first. That’s how confident GLOMAX is of their service and standard. Sun tells me that most of their customers are recurring customers from years back and even bloggers they previously invited for reviews and I am not surprised at all.

I am considering taking up a package with them when I begin work, which I hope it works out. Depending on where I work, if my work place is convenient, as I stay in the east and it might not be very convenient if I have to travel down during the weekends. I will update you all, when I do! 🙂

The results show, check out the photos I took in the following days after the facial. 🙂

Ena Glomax Facial Review 13

17 June, 3 days after the facial.

My usual Hada labo 3in1 sun block with very light coverage, blusher and eyeshadow. With the additional moisturizer, also Hada Labo, before that. No primer, foundation or BB cream at all. Ena Glomax Facial Review 14

18 June, 4 days after the facial.

Same as above, with Hada Labo moisturizer, sun block and blusher but without eye make up in this one.

Now for the best part!

You may wonder what exactly are the effects of the much touted Royal Jelly and ATP?

Bio essence Royal Jelly and ATP

ATP stands for Adenosine Triphosphate, which provides energy to skin cells, effectively improving micro circulation to renew and repair skin.

Royal Jelly is a thick and nutritious liquid secreted by the nurse bees and Queen bees feed exclusively on this which accounts for their incredible longevity. Thus it has superior youth restoring power.

Bio essence Royal JellyRoyal Jelly contains proteins and 17 types of amino acids (sources of protein which is the growth factor of skin cells), vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12), abundant minerals and trace amounts of carbohydrates and fats.

Royal Jelly deeply nourishes skin, improves skin’s radiance, leaving skin soft, smooth, fair and glowing with a feminine charm. It also has excellent anti-bacterial property which helps to disinfect pimples and acne skin.

Let me now introduce the 3 treasures and their efficacies before I review each of them.

1. Bio-essence Deep Exfoliating Gel with Royal Jelly + ATP

Bio essence Deep Exfoliating Gel with Royal Jelly + ATP

Ena Reviews:

The Bio-essence Deep Exfoliating Gel with Royal Jelly + ATP is a thick consistency, jelly like substance when dispensed from the tube. When I apply it on the face, it begins to disintegrate like liquid on the face and when I rub  it in circular motion on my face as recommended, small flakes, much like eraser flakes begin to form, gently and painlessly exfoliating a layer of my dead facial skin. After rinsing my face with water, my skin looks brighter and feels more ready for facial cleansing. I feel my skin is more ready for cleansing because the layer of dead skin is removed, which previously forms a layer preventing the cleansing foam to deeply cleanse my facial skin.

2. Bio essence Radiant Youth Essence with Royal Jelly + ATP

Bio essence Radiant Youth Essence with Royal Jelly + ATP2. Bio essence Radiant Youth Essence with Royal Jelly + ATP

Ena Reviews Bio Essence 2

Ena Reviews:

The Bio essence Radiant Youth Essence with Royal Jelly + ATP is a green and oil like liquid when shaken well and dispensed from the tube. This is because it contains 95% Green Tea extract. When applied on my face, it glides smoothly across and is rapidly absorbed into my skin. Even hours after application, my skin still feels smooth and supple, which proofs its effectiveness in hydrating the skin and locking the moisture. I will definitely recommend this to be used in cold weather where is air is very dry!

3. Bio-essence Face Lifting Cream with Royal Jelly and ATP

Ena Reviews:
The Bio-essence Face Lifting Cream with Royal Jelly and ATP is a white and fairly thick consistency cream. When applied on my face it feels nourishing and moisturizing and also has a tightening effect which is unlike other moisturizing cream I have used before and also explains its facial skin lifting effect! I would recommend this to women with busy schedules which reveals signs of fatigue on their skin and is looking for a product which will boost and tighten their skin to look fresh and young. It is most definitely useful for women in their 30s and above who is looking for a product that will maintain and lift their facial skin while keeping it moisturized and supple.

This image explains the Bio-essence Royal Jelly and ATP Skin Care Regime.
I am currently using the Bio-essence milk based make up remover, but the non Royal Jelly and ATP version, having bought 2 bottles on offer at a Robinsons sale last year. As I only use a little in removing my eye make up, 1 bottle has lasted me almost a year.  I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a milk based make up remover as it surprisingly cleanses well despite it’s milky consistency while additionally having a nourishing effect.
When I bought the Bio-essence milk based make up remover I was told by the lady promoter that it is a popular bio-essence product and she also gifted me a full size deep cleanser. The Bio-essence deep cleanser also includes ATP and is milky like, which feels nourishing even as it cleanses. I would recommend it to anyone who prefers and is looking for a cleanser that feels nourishing.

Laneige, Korean Actress Song Hye Kyo’s Beauty Secret

This is my entry for a Nuffnang & Laneige sponsored blogger’s challenge.

I am a K-drama fan, and I have loved watching Korean actress Song Hye Kyo in dramas especially since her Full House days. I also loved watching her in the drama, Worlds Within, where she had spectacular chemistry with her co-star Hyun Bin, whom she dated for a while after the show.

Full-House-jung-ji-hoon-rain-bi-3536304-800-600Song Hye Kyo and Rain in korean drama, Full House

Worlds Within Song Hye KyoThey had such good chemistry in Worlds Within, Song Hye Kyo and Hyun Bin.

Most recently, Song Hye Kyo starred in That Winter the Wind Blows, where she doesn’t seem to have aged and her skin is still flawless and fair…

Song Hye Kyo That Winter The Wind Blows

With her co star, Jo In Sung and Song Hye Kyo, looking fine as ever.

The secret to Song Hye Kyo’s fair and bouncy skin is Laneige, being their face and ambassador, Song Hye Kyo has no lack of access to their very hydrating products that keeps her skin smooth and supple!

Laneige is introducing their new BB cushion which is a compact that contains a patented cushion filled with cooling air and BB cream. It is a unique type of BB product with 5 benefits; soothing, skin tone correction, SPF 50+ PA+++, brightening and sweat proof.

Laneige BB Cushion

How the Laneige BB Cushion looks like!

Laneige is looking for 10 winner who will attend the make up session recreating K-beauty looks with the Laneigh BB cushion.

And thanks to Laneige and Nuffnang, the 10 K-Beauty looks will enter the Laneige Beautiful Blogger Challenge where a Grand Winner will be crowned through public voting. The lucky beautiful blogger will win a 1 year Laneige K Beauty Blogger contract & $2000 cash price from Laneige!

The question we are to blog about is:

Which is your favourite Laneige skincare & make-up product, and why?

And my answer would have to be Laneige’s Water Drop Sun Care!

Laneige Sun Block

And of the three above, I’d pick Sun Block Supreme!

Laneige Sun Block Supreme

That’s because I think the most important beauty routine is protection against the sun’s harmful rays to prevent pre mature aging (ugly spots!!!) and the Sun Block Supreme has powerful sunscreen and waterproof formula that resists water and sweat which would be the most suitable in Singapore’s sunny and humid weather! 🙂

If I am selected to be one of the top 10 winners, I would choose to re-create of my favourite looks from below:

1. Song Hye Kyo’s cute sexy looks in Full House

Song Hye Kyo Full HouseSong Hye Kyo

Cute floral inspired looks with pink and purple eye shadow and blush colours.

2. Son Ga In’s sultry sexy looks

I probably won’t go shirtless like she did… HA.

Edgy and rock chic brown and black eye colours.

Last but not the least I might also go for Yoon Eun Hye’s Pretty in Pink in her Missing You look:

Yoon Eun HyeDn57CB26

In the show she gives off a feminine fashionista look often carrying very light pink lip colours and au naturel looking skin, lightly brushed facial foundation coverage.

If I were to be selected, which look would you like me to recreate? Vote below and I’d go with the most popular /voted look!

Ending off with a photo of what I’d consider a typical Ena make up look, bare face and dark eye liner! 😉

Ena Reviews Mentholatum Deep Moist Lip Balm

Hello~~~

Do you want to know what’s Japan’s #1 Top Selling Lip Balm Brand in Japan?

Well… YES it’s Mentholatum! (Pretty obvious from my blog post’s title eh? :P)

Today I will be introducing Mentholatum Deep Moist Lip Balm in it’s *NEW PACKAGING*~~~ ^^v

Enabalista Mentholatum Deep Moist Lipbalm 2013 Review3

#1 in Japan!

Enabalista Mentholatum Deep Moist Lipbalm 2013 Review4

Deep Moist & its ingredients Deeply Moisturizes & Repairs!

Deep Moist Lip Balm was introduced in 2008 in Japan and it was received with tremendous success and popularity, quickly becoming the top selling lip balm in Japan’s lip care market.

The success of Deep Moist is due to 2 main factors:

  1. the premium hydrating ingredients at value pricing and
  2. its elegant, ergonomic packaging design.

The key moisturizing ingredients in Deep Moist lip balms are:

  1. Hyaluronic Acid, a premium ingredient that forms a smooth, moisture locking shield for softer, smoother lips. It can hold 1000x its weight in water, or 6 litres of water with just 1g. WOW. *(@^@)*
  2. Shea Butter heals the skin and gives a soft pleasant texture in the lip balm.
  3. Jojoba Oil gives pro-longed, whole day hydration to the lips.

Enabalista Mentholatum Deep Moist Lipbalm 2013 Review

Really unique oval shaped container…

Enabalista Mentholatum Deep Moist Lipbalm 2013 Review 2

And of course accompanying unique Oval Shaped lip balm stick!

The Deep Moist lip balm comes in an innovate OVAL SHAPED container design that fits the corner of the mouth well and make it easy to apply with a single swipe. Special~! No other lip balm like this one! *(^^)*

Now for my review~ *drums roll~~~*

Ena’s Review of Mentholatum Deep Moist Lip Balm

I am very excited to review Mentholatum Deep Moist Lip Balm because having tried many lip balms before and many of which are also under Mentholatum’s brand, I wanted to know and experience for myself if this little moisture rich stick was as good as it’s touted to be. I am glad to report back that it hasn’t disappointed, I applied only once in the day and it lasted well throughout the entire day, from morning to night.

The lip balm is made up of a pretty solid oil state and slight pressure has to be applied for the balm to come off to the lips. The texture feels rich, which comes from the Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil. It is however not overly sticky and feels rather lightweight on the lips.

Usually the skin on my lips will turn chap and start to peel towards the late afternoon / into the evening, ESPECIALLY if I apply lipstick on top of the lip balm. However Deep Moist lip balm proved effective in preventing my usual lips cracking which made me very impressed at how it effective it was when I was removing my lipstick in the evening and found my lips skin in tact~ !

I have not shared this on my blog yet but ever since I went to Japan I can FULLY UNDERSTAND why Japanese beauty products, especially those HYDRATING/MOISTURE LOCKING type are so raved and sworn by. That’s because Japan’s weather tend to be very dry especially in the winter wind. For a foreigner like me when I visited in March (end Winter, early Spring), my skin on my limbs and lips were turned chapped just hours out in the open, EVEN under protection, like under long sleeves and jeans. T^T So that’s why it’s the perfect place to test and produce these beauty products and if  the majority of the beautiful Japanese girls *(^^)* support Deep Moist Lip balm, I don’t see why I wouldn’t! Just too bad I only received this product for review after I came back from Japan~! 😛

Ena Japan Sneak Peek

Sneak Peek of about 1000+++ photos (no kidding) I’ve yet to edit and upload from Japan *smile cries* :’)

It was the end of winter cold and colder yet when we were near the coastal regions. But when we were in Tokyo, the earth and the skies began to warm up, we caught sight of the early Sakura blossoms near the traditional temple festivities, with a group of friendly and boisterous group mates, there’s no where else we’d rather be… Japan trip was quite magical, I hope I can update soon!

Now for some photos~

Enabalista Mentholatum Lipbalm 2013 Review

To achieve this bright fuschia pink lips, I applied lip balm, followed by a layer of bb cream and then the lip stick. This is because I have naturally fairly dark lips, so the bright fuschia colour is best brought out when I subdue my natural lip colour with the cream. I find that applying lip balm first nourishes the lips and keeps it from cracking under the cream. 🙂

Many thanks to Mentholatum Singapore and  The Sample Store for this moisture stick~! ^^
That is all~ for now at least!
Still many posts from my travels and events I’ve been attending! *sweats* I totally need to be more consistent in blogging. *grins*
Till my next post~

Hada Labo Whitening Lotion Review

Hi~!

Today I’ll be reviewing two sponsored products (edit* I’ll leave the 2nd product for another day~! ^^)  *update, check out my Deep Moist lip balm review here~* that I received a week back, starting with

Hada Labo’s Whitening Lotion with New Nano Formula

Hada Labo Whitening Lotion

The featured product of this post is the one on the right.

I’ve been using this product for a week now, twice daily in the morning and evening after showering.

What I like to do in my after shower beauty routine is to apply toner, moisturizing lotion, sun block before I apply my make up.

I usually use Hada Labo Moisturizing UV Milk which triples up as 1. Moisturizing lotion 2. Sunblock (SPF 50++ PA) and 3. Make up base after applying toner and before I apply my make up. You can read my review of the product which I wrote last year here.

The triple effect in one single product makes it convenient and time saving, I love the product.

But when I awake with more time on my hands, I will also use another series of products. In this case when reviewing the new Hada Labo Whitening Lotion, I follow up with a separate sunblock, the Estee Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Cells UV Protector which also doubles up as a make up base. 🙂

Read the official product information of the Hada Labo’s Whitening Lotion with New Nano Formula followed by my personal review! 🙂

Hada Labo Whitening Lotion with New Nano Formula

One Drop Reveals Natural Fairness

A Combination of 3 Types of Hyaluronic Acid for 3X the Hydration Power

Screen shot 2013-04-24 at PM 02.39.44

It is available at Watsons, Guardian and NTUC Fairprice outlets, $22.90.

My review of the Hada Labo’s Whitening Lotion with New Nano Formula:

The Hada Labo’s Whitening Lotion with New Nano Formula is a very hydrating lotion. I squeeze a little portion on my palms and apply over my face in the day and it keeps my skin hydrated all day long, so much so that there is no sign of dehydration, of my skin drying from the day, which usually does in Singapore’s hot weather. It’s a nice little touch as it keeps my face dewy even into the evening.

In the evening, a little portion on my face after showering also keeps my face fresh into the night and till I awake the next morning.

Perhaps the only concern is to not over apply the lotion on the face, especially for oily skin types. For such skin types, like myself, I would advise to apply a thin layer over the face, avoiding the T-zone where the skin tends to be more oily.

As for Whitening, the lotion is light on the skin does help to improve the complexion of my skin over the course of 5 days. The Arbutin and vitamin C does take effect and boosted with Hyaluronic acid’s hydrating effects reduced the dark pimple spots on my face, yay!  😉

Ena Hada Labo Whitening Lotion Review

For Singapore Only: Want to try the Hada Labo’s Whitening Lotion with New Nano Formula before deciding whether you want to commit to a full bottle? Here’s your chance! Simply click to their FB page, sign up with your details and await for the delivery of your FREE 20ml travel size bottle of Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion & Cleansing Oil samples! Let me know in the comments below how you find them! 😉

Btw, the Hada Labo’s Whitening Lotion with New Nano Formula is not to be confused with the Hada Labo’s SHA Hydrating Lotion. Personally, I would go for the Whitening lotion because of Singapore’s relentlessly sunny weather, the whitening effect comes in handy to keep my complexion fair. 😉

There you go~ Hope you enjoyed this review and keep a look out for my next one~ I’ll update the link when I’m done! ^^v

Liese New Jewel Pink Hair Dye Review

Hi!

I’m back! *SO FAST?* You may ask… That’s cause like what the title suggests, in between my travel posts, I’m reviewing Liese’s new Jewel Pink Hair Dye! Thanks to Liese Singapore and the folks at TheSampleStore /EK Media. ^^

I’ve been quite excited over it because I’ve never done hair dye at home by myself before so it’s an entirely new experience for me which I found to be quite fun especially after watching a few video demos on Youtube. *(^u^)*

So… I’ll let the photos do the talkin’!

Ena Liese Hamper

The Liese Jewel Pink Hair Dye arrived in a lovely basket with a hairband and pink rose… I love! ^^

Ena Before Liese Jewel Hair Dye

Now for a few photos of my dark brown almost black hair before the dye! 😉 Photo is without any filter.

Ena Before Liese Hair Dye 2

More pics… was in a fairly good hair and face day~ ^^,

Photos compiled on photo app Mei Tu Xiu Xiu. You can check out a review I did on the app a while back here.

Ena Before Liese Pink Jewel Hair Dye 3

This photo was “zhenged” (Singlish speak for blinged) using Japanese app DecoPic. Loving the Anna Sui vibe frame! ^^,

No filter was used for this but the photo got even grainer through this app. Lol.

Ena Liese Pink Jewel Demo Review 1

Getting ready for the dyeing process! Dressed in a shirt that I’m not afraid to be stained.

Ena Liese Pink Jewel Pack Items

In the box, you’ll find:
1 large hair dye mixture,
1 smaller dark bottle of hair dye for mixin’
1 satchet of hair rinse treatment,
1 foam dispenser cap, 1 pair of gloves,
1 large piece of instruction sheet and 1 additional small sheet of instructions.
Before you begin, it’s important to read through the instructions.
I also suggest watching demo videos found on Youtube, very helpful! 😀
So what’s recommended:
1. to wear an old shirt you won’t mind staining.
2. Dye your hair in an open space as the mixture gives off a hair dye smell which can be choking in an enclosed area.
3. Apply oil based moisturizer on the skin of your face and neck near the hair line, this is to prevent the dye from staining your skin. You can use Vaseline as well. This is not provided in the box.
4. Have tissue and cotton pad or ear buds (also not provided) ready to wipe the foam away from your skin. This is important! Haha, cause confirm will happen.
5. Comb through your hair so that it’s not tangled!

Here’s a gif of me grinning crazily while I comb my hair…
I have totally upped my game by creating gif files on my blog…. 😛

Yes, I did a gif for this too. Turn it up and down for 5 times and let the mixture work its

The container does warm up a little after you’re done. Don’t worry about it heatin’ up! 😉
Ena Liese Pink Jewel Demo Review 6
7. When the shaking’s done, change the cap to this foam dispenser head.
8. Now don your surgeon gloves! ^^
No photos for the consequent steps because I couldn’t snap photos with foam in my hands. 😛
9. Squeeze the foam out into your gloved hands before proceeding to apply and massage the foam into your hand beginning from the roots and then the end of the hair…
10. Then you twirl your hair if it’s long and place it into a pile on top of your head and allow it to settle for 20-30 minutes…
Ena Liese Pink Jewel Demo Review 2Here’s one shot with half the amount of foam from the bottle… ^u^
I took the gloves out in order to take this photo. 😛
Ena Liese Pink Jewel Demo Review 4Here’s when I’ve used up as much foam as my hair/head could take…
There was more than enough foam for my beyond shoulder length hair! ^^
Looks like an orange foam towel on my head. 😛
The foam application, massaging and leavin’ it on took me a total of 40 minutes (beyond the recommended 30min) because it took me some time to apply the whole (almost all of it) bottle of foam on my hair/head… I’m guessing if you have longer hair it will take you longer…
Then when you’re done, rinse it off with the sachet of rinse off treatment formula! It’s by Kao Essentials and it smells really really (I cannot emphasize more) ***lovely***
so much so that I think I am going to go get a bottle of Essentials shampoo soon just for the lovely scent they have.
Now for the after dye reveal~~~ *drum rolls*

In review:
I enjoyed the process because it is fairly simple and now that I’ve done it once, I am more confident of attempting it again next time. However, for the first try, I think my hair colour application was not as even as possible, with more dye concentrated at the top of my hair compared to the bottom of my hair, so I think on hindsight it would have been better if I segmented my hair into upper and lower tiers and dyed them from the lower tier up. As for the colour effect i think the before and after colour progression chart on the box is accurate, but the colour isn’t pink at all, I think it’s more accurate to call it orange brown or amber! haha. It is definitely more affordable and time saving compared to going to the hair salon, as it would cost me at least SGD$60 for my hair length and a bottle of Liese hair dye is only $17.90 at a promotional price at Watsons or Guardian. ^^
For more Liese Hair dye colours and information, check them out here.
Ena After Liese Pink Jewel Hair Dye

Ena’s Thanksgiving 2012

Ena Thanksgiving 2012

On the 2nd last day of the year, I’d like to recount a few things that I’m thankful to God for. 🙂

In chronological order followed by special people in my life.

Starting in January, I had a very enjoyable short stay at Avilion Cove hotel at Port Dickson, Malaysia with my sisters. You can read about the relaxing stay here.:)

In May, I went to Philippines (just realized my typo in the banner and image below) for mission trip with my church. It was my second trip there and a lot more fruitful. The growth in the two years is remarkable and there is a lot of work still to be done. Praise the Lord. Check out my post on the trip here.

In July, my birth month, I received two very big presents. The first is to be selected as Estee Lauder’s ambassador, to review and share updates on their latest products and events through the last 5 months in this year. It’s been an amazing journey thus far, one that I hope will continue through to the new year and beyond. I humbly believe that you my readers also enjoy reading the posts as much as I enjoyed the experiences and writing about them.  🙂

Enabalista 2nd Birthday Giveaway Winner Revealed!

Hello All!

A big THANK YOU for all who took part in the giveaway that I’ve been holding on my humble blog in the past week!

Now for the big reveal… Winner is also revealed on the actual “live” but now “ended” Giveaway tab… *Drumrolls please*

Congratulations to Ng H.!

The winner was randomly selected using the PunchTab app, and she also happens to be my friend! 🙂 Therefore I will meet her and hope (if she’s ok with it) to take a photo with her and then upload and updated on this post later!  For those who took part, and those who didn’t or missed this one, fret not because I’m having another giveaway really soon again! I’m really happy to have giveaways on my blog and many more to come. ^^

I want to specially thank the following readers & friends for taking extra time and effort to comment on the giveaway app and supporting Enabalista.

Christabelle Peh, Jenny Soo, Jane Lee, Eddy Khoo, Jessie Sng, Loh Poh Yong, Ying Lan & Tarandip Kaur.

Thank you all specially for your kind comments and retweets for this giveaway! I am very touched by your support. :’)

I am really quite behind, more like super behind my blogging because I’ve been overwhelmed with a powerful combination of school, ECA (stands for extra curriculumm activities, for the non-Singapore educated/un-initiated) such as JRunway participation, Sofie’s wedding and church commitments the past 1 month…

Follow me on my Twitter & Instagram, both @ena_teo for more daily updates! I tweet a lot of random stuff mostly revolving around Fashion, entertainment, social/Singaporean news and a lot of personal musings and angsty tweets you won’t find on my blog. (But you can read on the side bar, lah) I instagram mostly food, fashion, myself and interesting/random stuff around my life. I know it’s not much of a marketing pitch, but I’m sure you’ll be amused by what I share, cause I get amused by myself! HAHA, #notshyatall. So follow lah ah, and PLUS I am almost always looking for more tweet buddies on Twitter so join in the conversations/tweet-versations if you haven’t! 😀

xoxo you know i love you,
Ena <3

Honestly can’t wait for school to be out, then I will be giving my first church sermon this Sat, then I can by blog-happy and HOLIDAY LOR (machiam like ORD-LOH, it’s supposed to have the feel/vibe, #incaseyoudidn’tgetit.) – I don’t know why this needs to be italicized. Really, I don’t.

My Flawless with Estee Lauder Workshop Experience

Hello beautiful people!

How are you doing today? I do hope October’s been treating you well? October’s been a whizz for me, I’ve been attending talks – perhaps a little too much that even my friends are surprised at all the talk shots I take on my Instagram, haha!

Here’s an update on the event I shared previously, not just a talk mind you, it’s better! It’s a workshop by Estee Lauder where my friend, Ming Min and I put to action what we learn in class, on the spot by creating our own Flawless looks with Estee Lauder’s new and broader range of Double Wear foundation! 😉

Without further ado, I’ll let the photos do most of the talking~

Here our host is sharing with us the benefits of Estee Lauder skincare and makeup products before going into the steps of creating a Flawless look.

Check out the slides shown at the workshop here 😉 – Flawless with Estee Lauder Workshop Slides

Various make up brushes available for each individual participant at the workshop, here’s my set!

Adeline, the make up artist/instructor for my table sharing with us the 2 types of primer Estee Lauder provides. A matt one and another is illuminating one. I used the matt one, Ming used the illuminating one, so later you can see the difference in the photos we took. We were also taught we can combine both in our make up, use the matt one for our T-zones and illuminating one for the rest. 😉Here Adeline is sharing on eyeshadow palette. There was one different coloured palette for each of us, but I shared the same one with the lady next to me cause I liked her palette. 🙂

This my dears, is the really pretty eyeshadow palette I used that day. It’s Enchanted Berries Eyeshadow Palette! 😉

The beautiful array of Estee Lauder crystal lipsticks, eye shadow palettes, Double Wear and Double Wear Light foundations! 🙂

The stars of the workshop, the Double Wear Foundations. For the month of October, Estee Lauder supports the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign through the sales of the special edition Perfectionist Serum with the Pink Ribbon packaging.

The 2012 Campaign theme, “Courage. Believe in a world without breast cancer. Know we’re here until its true.”highlights the Company’s 20 year commitment to defeating breast cancer through education and medical research. This milestone year is dedicated to the tremendous courage of Evelyn Lauder and her unwavering commitment to eradicate breast cancer. – Yahoo News

For more information on Estee Lauder’s charitable work on raising Breast Cancer Awareness and supporting Breast Cancer research check out the article on Yahoo News. Also follow their news and updates on their Facebook page here.

Here’s my before and after looks from the workshop! My skin is visibly more even, eyebags less visible and features are more defined. ^^ I am wearing the Double Wear Light in the picture because I don’t like to have foundation that is too thick. And also thanks to Estee Lauder’s skincare products that I’ve been using, I don’t need the Double Wear with stronger coverage for my skin. ^^My lovely friend Ming min, in her before and after looks from the workshop. She remarks that the difference isn’t obvious in the photo, which is a good thing as it shows she has good skin and features that doesn’t change much with make up right? (x But in real life, u can see that her skin is more polished and illuminates with a glow from the illuminating primer! We would both recommend the illuminating primer for girls who want a natural glow in their make up. 😉

Us besties together since 2004/5 ! >.<

Funny faces never go out of style. 😉

Last but not the least, the door gift from the workshop! Ming and I attended as guests, so we didn’t claim a $100 (price of the workshop ticket) worth of Estee Lauder product but we did go back very blessed with 3 Estee Lauder products, 2 of which are their top sellers!

Check out these beauties: 1. Advance Night Repair Eye Serum 2. Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara and 3. Advance Night Repair 4. Pretty blue pouch

I know, so awesome right? I’ve been wanting an ANR travel vial just like this one so that I can bring it with me when I travel, but I decided, especially after using the ANR for a month and finding it so awesome, that I will GIFT this whole set in my blog – Enabalista’s 2nd Birthday Giveaway instead. So that one of my followers can share in my joy too! Watch out for my next post which will contain details of the Giveaway! 😉

Our sexy night didn’t end there… we went for a very romantic stroll and seating by the harbour… x) Anyway, just enjoy these photos as I enjoyed the views that night! 😉

This looks like a Salmon sushi, doesn’t it? x)
That’s all for now folks!

Trend Highlights | Luxurious Glamour Fall Winter 2012 Featuring Dolce & Gabbana

Hi lovelies!

Today I’ll be sharing the first of two major Fall Winter 2012 Trend Highlights on my blog. The first of which is Luxurious Glamour, mainly featuring runway looks from Dolce & Gabbana, one of the most outstanding label for this Fall Winter season!

Luxurious Glamour

Luxurious Glamour features two sub categories, Shakespeare in Love & Luxe Velvet.

Shakespeare in Love – From designs that mimic tapestries to ornate baroque flourishes, the fall runways exude a Renaissance spirit. Key labels leading the way are Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Balmain & Marchesa.

Luxe Velvet – The appearance of a luxurious textile, one would gush in pleasure at the velvet of her touch. Key labels featuring velvets are Gucci, Lanvin, Kenzo & Emporio Armani.

Dolce & Gabbanna Fall Winter 2012 Key Runway Looks

Every little detail comes together and creates a very precious and princess-y persona for the wearer/models.

The corset, as with the entire collection is so beautifully and intricately embroidered.

The gradual descent from light and airy colours to dark and opulent colours.
I AM IN LOVE.
I wish I could wear the entire collection for my whole Fall Winter 2012, seriously.

Nothing escapes the Dolce & Gabbana duo. These devils surely took note of every detail. Decorated hairband, earrings and necklace over laced top over laced brassiere. Perfection. *Dies*

Watch the royal Dolce & Gabbana army strut out in glamourous style.Remember. To. Breathe.

So, tell me, are you just as in love with Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall Winter Collection as I am? Or has another label captured your heart? Leave your reply in the comment box!

Her World Day Out with YL

Hi guys!

Hope ya’ll are having a great mid-week, yes? 😉

A few weeks ago, friend YL and I attended Her World’s Day Out event at Tangs Vivo. So we took some photos while we travelled to the event. Here’s one photo post-processed in Mei Ren Xiang Ji Poco Camera (read about my review/tutorial here.) and FotoRus frame! ^^

This is the crazy queue for complimentary (read free) manicure. LOL.

So the story goes that while we were queuing up for the free manicure, I uploaded the photo of YL and I above to Instagram and tagged #igsg. Frankly, at that point of time, I thought #igsg was a form of identifying photos from Singapore (that’s why I tagged it). I didn’t realize that it was actually an uber popular, “get popular” instagram account. AND SO the photo was featured on Igsg‘s account as well as sweetyoungthing‘s (cheesy I know) account!

@igsg had some 280,000 followers then (now it’s 301,000) on Instagram and after a few hours, the photo received almost 1000 likes! :O So just imagine YL and I spazzing when we realize we had our “15 minutes” of fame, hohoho! Basically @igsg reposts popular photos, about 1 every hour and only leaves 6 photos on its account at any one time.

The same photo reposted on to @sweetyoungthing‘s instagram account.

I’ll be meeting up with @igsg’s account owner, Ken for coffee this week and we might possibly work out partnership opportunities. How exciting! I’ll update you guys if and when we’ve worked out the details! (:

Photo of my nails, post manicure! ^^

Like how my photo looks like? I decorated the photo using Snapeee, the fairly new japanese decoration and sharing app, which I reviewed in the previous post here, check it out if you haven’t.

That’s all for now!

Snapeee App Review

Hi lovelies!

It’s been some time since I last reviewed an app huh! Today I’m gonna review one of my recent favourite camera, photo decorating and sharing app, Snapeee!

Snapeee

You can download the app on this site for free – http://snape.ee/

It basically works rather similarly to Instagram with following and recommendation functions except it’s Japanese with lots of cute-sy stickers, stamps, filters and frames to decorate your photos with! I love it! My account name on Snapeee is @ena_teo, check out my account if you have Snapeee or decide to download it after reading my review! (:

Some of the photos I’ve posted on my Snapeee account:

A photo of my manicured nails I decorated and posted on Snapeee! Note the beautiful rose glitter borders, sweet graphic stamps and filter.

Another photo I edited and posted on Snapeee! Basically if you are a fan of Japanese culture, you will love Snapeee because it’s filled with Kawaii (read cute for my non-Japanese friends) photos of Japanese food, fashion, animals and celebrity models! (:

This, my friends is the kind of Kawaii stuff you find on Snapeee. Doesn’t it make your day?!
So basically I would rate 4/5 for Snapeee for being a super cute and adorable camera, photo decorating and sharing app. It has a great variety of decorations and filters for photos. The ONLY downside I have for this app would naturally be that there isn’t a lot of people using Snapeee in Singapore, so I wouldn’t use/visit it as often as I would for Instagram.
Nonetheless, Snapeee is a great app that might give Instagram a run for its money in time to come. Instagram beware! Hehe.
That’s all for today folks! Let me know if you have come across any new and interesting apps recently, comment away! 😉

ESTEE LAUDER VIOLET UNDERGROUND FALL 2012 Q&A with Liu Wen

Hello!

As mentioned in my post earlier, here’s the Q&A with Chinese supermodel & Estée Lauder Spokesmodel, Liu Wen. (:

Information credits to Estée Lauder Press team.

ESTEE LAUDER FALL 2012

PURE COLOR VIOLET UNDERGROUND

Q&A with Liu Wen, Estée Lauder Spokesmodel

1)     Where is your favorite place to be in fall?

I think Paris, because when I’m there for fashion week every October, I always love seeing the beautiful colors of the trees along the Champs-Elysees. I always imagine myself and a good friend sitting there, drinking coffee outside.

2)     How does fall in New York differ from fall in Beijing?

I don’t think there is too much difference. Maybe Beijing’s weather is drier on my skin.

3)     Will you celebrate Halloween? If so, what costume will you wear?

I really like Halloween, but I never wore a costume because I always think about what I want to wear, but never make a decision! I do pass out candy to the kids who come by my apartment though!

(Ena: Yes I will, with my classmates again! See my 2011 celebration here. Not sure, but I will start thinking about it! :D)

4)     What’s your favorite fall meal?

What I eat during fall is pretty similar to every other season, but because it might be drier, I make sure to eat meals with more vegetables, and of course more fruit during the day.

5)     What is your favorite fall activity?

Going on a short trip outside the city so I can have a picnic with my friends!

6)     What is your must-have fashion item for the fall season?

A big bag that can hold a lot of items! I feel like I have more and more to carry every season.

(Ena: I love furry vests & berets, so they would be my must-have fall items. I carry big bags everywhere too! My current Mango bag is tearing at the handles due to all the weight of the books I’ve been carrying. >.<)

7)     What’s in your handbag?

Three phones (One French, one American, and one Chinese), my wallet, keys, iPod, Lumix Camera, eye drops, travel size jar of Estée Lauder Nutritious Creme and a bottle of water!

(Ena: That’s a lot of phones she’s carrying! I always wondered how people manage with so many phones!)

8)     What were your favorite fashion shows for Fall 2012?

Jean Paul Gaultier, because the show itself is always a playful performance.

Balenciaga, because the outfit I wore was one of my favorites this season.

Oscar de la Renta, because I wore a gorgeous princess-style dress!

(Ena: Mine would be Balmain & Valentino for their intricate and lovely Shakespearean / Renaissance inspired embroidery & Victorian Beckham for  her sleek and modern take on MIlitary style. Trés chic. More about them in another post sometime soon!)

9)     How do you prepare for Fashion Week?

I make sure that I’m ready for it mentally, because it can be very stressful. But most of the time I just do it!

(Ena: Speaking hypothetically if I were to take part as a blogger/press, I would prepare for Fashion Week about 1 month in advance, making sure I have my array of classic items to be matched with trendy / covetable fashion items. I might link up with my favourite brands and work out my various attires in advance. I will definitely select which shows to attend and then plan my schedule around it. I will also prepare interesting / dying questions to ask celebrity designers, models and artistes when I meet them. Of course, I’d make sure to charge and be armed with my trusty gadgets like IPhone and camera to capture and record all the flurry of Fashion Week. (; )

10)  What is the best style advice you’ve ever been given and by whom?

I don’t think anyone has given me direct style advice, but I do check street style websites a lot to get ideas.

(Ena: It would be to be more adventurous in my style and given by my bestie, Bini. By far, Bini has the most unique and daring fashion sense amongst everyone I know irl.)

11)  Do you have any tips for taking a good photo?

Just smile!

12)  What is your fall skincare routine?

First I apply Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator because it’s gentle and gives my skin an amazing glow. For moisturizer, I love Hydrationist because it absorbs quickly and keeps my skin hydrated all day long.

(Ena: You can check out mine here: My Skincare Routine with Estée Lauder Refining Pore Minimizing )

13)  What will be your go-to fall beauty look?

I absolutely love how modern and dramatic the colors are in the Estée Lauder Five Color Eyeshadow Palette from the Violet Underground Collection. Also, the new Double Wear Two Tone Zero-Smudge Eye-Opening Mascara is great because the brushes are designed specifically for Asian women’s lashes.

14)  What was your favorite part of the beauty look from the Derek Lam Fall 2012 show?

I really loved the undereye part where they painted fake eyelashes onto the skin-it was a really cool effect.

15)  What is the best makeup tip you received from Tom Pecheux?

Tom taught me that I should always have two colors of foundation ready, so I can mix them together to get the exact right color. Also, before you apply a dark eyeshadow, always put on mascara first because it helps prevent the eyeshadow from falling onto the bottom part of your eye!

16)  What is your favorite part of being an Estée Lauder spokesmodel?

There are too many to name, but I love that I learn so many beauty tips and feel like a part of a family. Also, I met wonderful friends like my fellow spokesmodels, and I will cherish their friendship forever.

(Ena: Similarly, there’s too many to name. I’m not an Estée Lauder spokesmodel per se, but as an Estée Lauder Social Media Advocate, I love receiving new Estée Lauder skincare and makeup products which have become an integral part of my lifestyle. It has acquainted me with other advocates like Jac, allowed me to bring my friends to makeovers, given me so much content to share with my readers and increased the interest I have for skincare and makeup. Thank you Estée Lauder Singapore! )

17)  What are you listening to on your ipod?

Lana del Rey, Adele and Chinese artists like Fan Weiqi.

(Ena: Song of the moment most probably Good Time by Carly Rae Jepson & Owl Time. My most recent songs on repeat are Primmadonna, Wild One & Chasing the Sun. I also like songs by Fan Weiqi, especially 一比一

18)  What is your new favorite restaurant and where is it?

ABC Kitchen! It’s here in New York.

19)  Did you have a nickname growing up?

I didn’t really have one, but my mom always called me “bao bei,” which is “honey” or “baby” in Chinese.

( Ena: My mum calls me “En-ah!” which is a short form of my mandarin name Jia En, and my friends also call me Ernie and En. )

L.o.L <3,
Ena
