Today I’ll be reviewing two body creams and one eyelash growth serum. I’ve been using these products on and off for a few months and I have to confess that I’ve not used them for consecutive days, sufficient to see a remarkable result. And that’s also a reason why I’ve been hesitant to review these products on the blog as it’s hard to attest to the results. Nonetheless, I’ll be including details of the products, so if you find them useful, you might want to give them a try! 😉

Last but not the last, we have NewbornLash Eyelash and Brow Serum for review. I really want to like this product and see its effects on my eyelashes because I have the typical sparse, short and straight asian eyelashes. HOWEVER I have never managed to go past 3 consecutive days/nights of applying this serum. Sorry guys. I usually apply this at night before I sleep, it has a tiny brush tip applicator which makes it easy to apply the serum at your eyelash roots. I also confess that this is a very late review because I received this product last year. The product is brought in by BeaulabSEA but I can’t find any product information on its site at the moment. Let me know if you’ve any eyelash growth serum to recommend and tips to stick to the regime? 🙂

What to order at Arteastiq Plaza Singapura

A way overdue post considering Arteastiq at Plaza Singapura launched last year, but it’s still relevant and I’ll be highlighting which are the dishes I’d recommend and have gone back for since it’s opening! 😉
Arteastiq started out at Mandarin Gallery and it’s known to be a place where you can spend hours painting and/or having tea with friends, so it’s also only appropriate to dress up a little for it (not that I need any excuse to dress up, really). 😉

Promotion boards and a space for painting just in front of the store. During the weekdays when I’ve passed by, they also exhibit artworks there.
Already loving the very French-esque (read: style) shop front with the black and white canopy and old school bike prop. Have I mentioned how much I love an updated, modern yet classic interior? Loving the gold accents amidst the black and white colours.The interior decor and furnishing is eclectic yet classy and comfortable.
Green plants and candles set a cosy ambience.You could also choose to lounge in these green sofas.
You’re getting a very soothing open skies and greenery view if you’re seating by the windows. Longan tea is an Arteastiq special and many have asked where to get the tea from but it’s a trade secret! My friends and I love it iced as it’s refreshing and perfect for Singapore’s sunny weather.You can opt for biscuits and biscotti to go with the tea too!

We had a lot of dishes to share at the food tasting, but here are my top 3 dish picks! 🙂

Aphrodiate Crabmeat Benedict ($25) is a store recommended dish, the crabmeat was a little dry.

I super love this Tuscan Sun Porcine et Polenta ($20) which is eggs over mashed potatos and mushrooms, basically all my favourites on a plate!

I have yet to try Summer in Provence – Foiegras ($28) which is seared foie gras with lightly baked eggs but it’s definitely next on my list when I’m back.

This Boston Love Boat Ciponi ($29) is a highly recommended dish for sharing. Everything about this dish from the seafood to soup, is perfect.

We were basically too full to properly appreciate the desserts…

Mount Etna’s Peak ($13) Crisp chocolate triangle filled with Valrhona chocolate mousse, yuzu gelato and berries coulis – I don’t know about you, but this is basically all my favourite desserts on a platter!

Airy Fairy ($13) pairing Valrhona Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla Cream Parfait and Mixed Berries.

Stay Hip & Chic with BIG Hotel Singapore

Over the recent labour day holiday, Christabelle and I enjoyed our extended weekend at boutique hotel, BIG Hotel Singapore. Super love the chic, grey textured walls and its Pinterest-worthy minimalistic interior. <3

Belle and I made full use of our 1D1N with girly activities such as playing with new make up, photo taking at the alley ways/spots near by the hotel, thai food at Aroy Dee for dinner, The Daily Scoop (at School of the Arts) for desserts and masks (mutiple, yes, haha) time before we called it a night. During our fruitful staycation, we were also appropriately (mostly me, haha since Belle doesn’t really drinks coffee) with Nespresso and Cafedirect coffee, it’s sweet that BIG Hotel has a Nespresso machine in the room. I opted for Strawberry while Christabelle opted for Durian (Mao Shan Wang) and Avocado!

Headed back and washed up with Estee Lauder’s new micro cleansing foam and if you don’t already know about Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair serum, this stuff is the magic potion of the beauty world! I use it on nights when I need to calm redness/irritation/clear up blemishes on my skin, and it always works like a charm!

I brought along Origin’s Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask To Clear Pores, and found out that Christabelle is a huge fan of this brand and been using this mask regularly which helps with her oily skin type, once a week. Origins is an au natural skin care brand, for all you nature loving skincare fanatics! 😉

And post Origins charcoal mask, we nourished our skin with The Face Shop animal masks which I got last year and they don’t seem to be retailing any more now, but man, these smell of peaches, soooo good and its also pretty hydrating, love! The next morning, a wake up coffee is in order…
We were well fuelled by Nespresso’s limited edition coffee Tanim De Chiapas from Mexico.

And YES I had also lugged over the new ranges of skincare goodies; shower gel, scrub, body creams from The Body Shop to try out during the staycation, best decision ever! Our bathroom and room were filled and smelled so good of summer fragrances from the Pinita Colada (Pineapple and Coconut) to Polynesian Tiare (island flowers), they’ll all launch by June 9. 😉

A very cosy and bubbly lobby atmosphere when we left, ideal for friends or family to gather before heading out.

The comfy bed and sheets made for a great night’s rest. All in, BIG Hotel is an affordable, chic option that I’d recommend whether you’re considering for a local stay-cation or visiting from abroad. Staff we met at the hotel were also very pleasant and courteous – they definitely made our stay that much sweeter. Plus, it’s located conveniently close to Bugis MRT (if you’re taking the train down from Changi Airport, from the green line) and walking distance to Dhoby Ghaut and Little India where you can explore more of Singapore whether for shopping, dining or cultural spots. If you’re keen, you can also check out my alma-mater LASALLE College of the Arts which is literally behind BIG hotel, if you’re in luck you might coincide your stay with graduating students’ exhibitions. happening from now, 20th May to 1st June!

Weekend Getaway to Genting Highlands!

Hi Loves!

I’m back again! 😀

Yesterday I posted about my review of Aaron Crow’s Fearless Magic show, the highlight of my recent weekend trip to Genting Highlands. Today I’ll be posting about the rest of the trip and cover everything else we did! It’s gonna be super image heavy! 😛Traveling with my sis for this trip! On the coach~

We reached the hotel early in the morning around 5am, caught some sleep before we headed out around 10+am~

Checked out Terminal 2 cafe just at the lobby of XYZ wing.

They had nice bread, but servings were huge. We didn’t want to be too full as we were expecting a buffet lunch at Coffee Terrace~

So I snapped a few photos and we headed to check out other food places.

The porridge smelled amazing, so we decided to get a bowl to share…Teh & Chicken Porridge. Honestly the porridge was so-so, it was the fried onion that made it smell heavenly and taste good!

Then it was time for buffet lunch!!!

Next we headed to Snow World!!! I know I sound super excited now, when I was initially not. But I unexpectedly had a lot of fun for what was supposed to be for kids/children, hahaha. All you need to have fun, is to have a child’s heart! 😛
We went just shortly after Easter, so it was Easter themed!

Here’s one with the group before going in! The plan was to take 5-10 min before it was open to public, to snap some photos before we can have fun after! Photos and cameras are not allowed (except for media) inside Snow World as they have professional photographers inside and will charge you for photos, should you want.

After this we couldn’t snap photos when the Snow World opened to public and we kept our cameras away, but I did get to seat the slide which is only for people before 65kg, and we also played with the red sledges and it was a lot of fun! It’s those kiddy level kind of intensity which is just perfect for me because I don’t like scary rides, hahaha.Group we-fie outside Snow World~

After Snow World, we went to catch the Fearless Magic Show, which I’ve already covered in the previous post. After the show, we had dinner at Bubbles & Bites!

The name Bubbles & Bites originates from the fact that the restaurant serves simple western food with an exquisite list of drinks―including sparkling wines imported from such countries as Italy, Spain and France. Hence the word“Bubbles.” True to its name, Bubbles & Bites makes the perfect chillout place for effervescent young people, families and all others who believe great food and good ambience go hand in hand.

I like how it has an open concept, it’s like dining in a European cafe along the streets except it’s indoors, haha.

My favourite dish, Chicken Schnitzel, it’s crispy on the outside and tender inside. Love!

Spaghetti Bolognese.Carbonara Pizza.Lam Lee Burger, tastes like a restaurant version of Ramly burger.Ethiopian Chicken, as its name goes, it tastes like curry chicken from Africa. One of the recommended / popular dishes.

Oblong Margherita Pizza.Kampung Chicken.Old Angus Beef T-Bone Steak.Old Angus Beef T-Bone Steak. This was pretty good! Overall the food at Bubbles & Bites were of great value with prices from RM29 for Ethiopian Chicken to RM75 for the Old Angus Beef Steak. I highly recommend the Grilled Salmon Tagliatelle & Cremosa Pesto (RM33) & Chicken Schnitzel (RM29).

After dinner, Eric arranged for us to feast on Gelatos! The server reallyyy packed in a ton of Gelatos for us in this bowl. We went with Hazenut, Mango, Chocolate and Blood Orange flavors.

After desserts, we had free and easy time… My sis and went walking around the Plaza Square, there was a Japanese fair going on… It was inspired by the hanami/pink blossoms season.

After some shopping, we joined William, Leong, Gerald, Lenice and Jocelyn at K Studio for some Karaoke!

It’s located at level 4, above Nike Factory Store: Oops, I didn’t snap a pic of the room / hour rates HAHA. I thought this was it. T_T I think it’s about RM80 per hour.

We all had a lot of fun singing both chinese and english songs, I did wish the walls weren’t so thin / better cushioned as we could totally hear what the next room was singing! LOL.

After the K-session, sis and I headed back to our room to rest! It was 3am by the time we prepped for bed and slept.

The next morning we checked out some of the art at the lobby and I took shots for my OOTDS before we headed for breakfast at Food Factory! 🙂

The Food Factory is a brand new dining concept located at 3rd Floor First World Plaza. It is a 23,568 sq ft opened kitchen concept restaurant that can accommodate 1300 diners. The restaurant serves a delightful range of breakfast offering from 4 different counters ie: West Asian, East Asian, Western and pastry from 6.00am to 11.00am daily at only RM 29.00 nett (adult) and RM 14.50 nett (child).

Fascinating pancake making machine!

The chef says the machines make it possible to serve up to 2,000 people at one time. The pancake machine, for instance, can make up to 200 pieces of pancakes in approximately 30 minutes. Using the machine saves time and energy. More interesting fun facts: Making pancakes for 2,000 people requires 7.2 kg of flour, 13 eggs and 7.2 liter of milk!

Among other choices offered are varieties of freshly Baked Breads and Local Buns, Danishes, Pancakes, Cereals, Nasi Lemak, Idli, Dhokla, Putu Mayam, Pita Bread, Paratha, Congee and Condiments, assorted pau, Juice, Coffee & Tea. Pizza lovers will also enjoy freshly baked pizza from our large pizza conveyor such as Pizza with Tomato Sauce and Cheese and Vegetarian Pizza with Mushroom.

At East Asian Counter, you may find favourite local delicacies such as Fish Ball Noodle Soup or Curry Noodle Soup, Fried Carrot with XO Sauce, Grilled or Deep-fried Yam Roll, Deep-fried Cheese Roll or Chee Cheong Fun, Fried Loh See Fun or Fried Yee Mee, Chinese Soup and Dim Sum too.

At West Asian Counter, wide varieties of local cuisines such as assorted Malay and Nyonya Kuih, Nasi Lemak with condiments, Potatoes Samosa, Vegetables Pakoras, Tandoori Chicken, Fish Head Curry, Ayam Masak Merah, Chicken and Lamb Skewer to Roti Jala or Grill Seafood.

For light snackers, you may also want to enjoy some finger food such as Margherita Pizza, Chicken Ham Pizza, Toasted Bread with Kaya and Butter or even Fried Banana or Sweet Potatoes.

My review:
First of all, I love the Origins’ Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay because it only takes 10 minutes for the mask to dry up and take effect, which is faster than the usual 20 minutes masks required for clay masks. Secondly the mask leaves my skin baby smooth because it contains Jojoba beads that gently scrubs my dead skin away after I wash it out. Plus the Rose Clay draws out dirt and oil and has a tightening effect on my pores. Therefore, after the Rose Mask, I apply the Original Skin Renewal Serum which refines the skin texture and minimize pores with chestnut extract and canadian willowherb restores skin’s clarity and luminosity for that glow. It’s definitely my favourite clay mask and serum duo thus far and I highly recommend it. After my bff used it, she loved it so much, so I bought one set for her as her birthday gift! Face Forward with Clinique’s Smart Eye Serum and 3 Step Skin Care

Last August Clinique launched their meaningful Face Forward campaign encouraging women to make a promise for their future self, via social media.
Here’s mine, writing to my future 30 year old self:

Review: Slim down and tighten up with Marie France Venus Freeze

Checking in to Marie France Bodyline at Orchard International Building, first time visitors can expect to fill in particular forms before meeting a consultant to advise which treatments would best fit your needs and target areas. After my discussion with the consultant, I decided to go ahead and try out the Venus Freeze treatment on my arms.

First a gel is spread across the skin of the targeted area to reduce friction and increase effectiveness from the massage and treatment.
Then the massage begins and it is timed for an automatic 10 minutes. The heat from the massage head and massaging action gets more intense with time. If it gets too hot, you can request for a lower temperature. At first I was a bit hesitant as I was afraid it might be too hot, but after I know the heat limit from one side, I could really enjoy the heat and massage during the treatment on the other side.
The result after 10 minutes, the skin is red from the heat and massage but is not prolonged, goes down quickly after the treatment.The last step is putting on a mask with collagen, to sooth and hydrate the skin.

After the treatment, I did a post review session with the consultant and my immediate post treatment measurement shows that I lost a quarter inch from 10.75 to 10.5inch around my arm. This Venus Freeze treatment works for those looking to reduce circumference of the body, cellulite appearance and tightens the skin.

Spectacular Drama Watching Experience with ASUS ZenFone 2

Hi Loves!

After a day’s of work, how do you spend your time while resting and relaxing? For me, I love to watch dramas, especially Korean dramas of romantic comedy genre… 😀

Recently I am especially hooked on Oh My Venus, starring actress Shin Min Ah and actor Soo Ji Sub and I’m so stoked to be able to watch the drama on the latest ASUS ZenFone 2!

In my previous unboxing post I’ve compared the ASUS ZenFone 2 with my IPhone 6.

Comparing the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 6.0-inch FHD phone on the right with my current iPhone 6 on the left. iPhone 6 is 4.7inch, so the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 6.0-inch FHD is a whooping 1.3inch inches bigger! The screen is also longer, wider and bigger for a more enjoyable video watching experience, woohoo!

I am super loving drama watching on the ASUS ZenFone 2 because with its 1920 x 1080 Full HD, the screen is wider, longer and bigger resolution. Plus, the dual 5-magnet speaker makes for excellent audio too! I love that even though the screen is bigger, I can still hold it comfortably in my hands while resting in bed. I find my IPad Mini too big and bulky while drama watching and the ASUS ZenFone 2 is a great size upgrade from my IPhone 6! 🙂

Tous Floral Touch Fragrance Launch

Jewellery brand Tous that hails from Barcelona launched their fragrance Tous Floral Touch which is a sweet floral fragrance and it was a romantic affair, to say the least. The launch event was held at D’Good Cafe at Holland Village and we were treated to cupcakes, eclairs and fruit punch before being ushered to the 2nd floor where we learnt from Tous’ representative Mr Javier Bacallado Ucelay, about the story behind Tous and Tous Floral Touch. We were each given a cloth fan and taught the various sign language – how to flirt or say no with the fan, it was fun! Last but not the least we indulged in the photo taking of the new fragrance and the lovely packaging which were designed for picture photo moments. You’ll see! This perfume proves to be a feminine yet mature scent and is perfect for women who love a sweet floral fragrance with a touch of citrus and a musky base.

Tous Floral Touch is introduced in the summer of 2015 after the original Tous Touch from 2006, Tous Sensual Touch from 2012 and Tous Touch Flower Edition from 2014. Tous Floral Touch is a sweet floral scent enriched with citrus opening and sensual musky base.

The composition opens with notes of mandarin, bergamot, lemon and violet leaf. Its sweet and spicy heart includes notes of tuberose, wild strawberry and ginger. The base ends with amber, cedar and musk.

A while back Etude House launched their Moistfull White Mela Perfect Serum, a whitening serum that promises to transform your skin from the inside out for a flawlessly radiant complexion. Along with the serum, Etude House also has a new, Zero Sebum Line to rescue all princesses from the dreaded sebum built up for beautifully matte skin, all day long! Zero Sebum Line features three products for a complete sebum-free solution that removes, controls and absorb sebum throughout the day.

The Moistfull White Mela Perfect Serum is a whit-ish translucent watery consistency serum which I apply after my toner and before my make up base. It is quite moisturising as well. I would recommend if you’re looking for an affordable moisturizing and whitening serum.

Key ingredients include Pearl and Lavender Extracts which correct blemishes and spots while kissing the skin with glowing radiance! Hyaluronic Acid and Hydrolyzed Collagen nourishes and further hydrates your skin to keep it ever youthful, supple and bouncing with vitality! A good dose of Vitamin C Derivatives helps to lighten your skin naturally, penetrating deep into skin for a luminous effect everyone will notice!

The Zero Sebum Line include 1. White Sebum Clear 2. All Day Matte Gel and 3. Drying Powder.

The Zero Sebum Line is equipped with active ingredients such as Sugar Polymer, Cotton Flower and Mixed Herb Extracts, the Zero Sebum Line effectively ensures your skin stays Sebum- free and pretty throughout the day. Sugar Polymer with Plankton Extract absorbs the sebum above the skin to help skin remain powdery all day long. The Cotton Extract prevents skin damage caused by sebum while the Mixed Herb Extract helps to relax and soothe skin, with an added antibacterial effect so that your skin gets the protection and care it truly deserves

Zero Sebum White Sebum Clear is to be used after cleansing and toning, on areas like forehead, nose and chin and it will dissolve white bumpy sebum without water.

Zero Sebum All Day Matt Gel is a finishing gel that contains natural organic grain powder, which collects and controls the sebum for all day long sebum-free skin. To be used as a finishing step in the mornings and evenings. Dispense an appropriate amount and apply softly on skin in an inward to outward motion.

Last but not the least, Zero Sebum Drying Powder is a Pact Powder that absorbs sebum without affecting make up. Contains Natural Mineral Powder (80%) that adheres onto skin texture to prevent caking. Tap on areas with sebum trouble after skincare or make up application. I like to use this powder on my nose and forehead after applying my foundation to matt-ify the areas. I recommend this if you have oily T-zones and want to minimize shine, you can apply in the morning and reapply throughout the day.

Comparing the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 6.0-inch FHD phone on the right with my current iPhone 6 on the left. iPhone 6 is 4.7inch, so the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 6.0-inch FHD is a whooping 1.3inch inches bigger! The screen is also longer, wider and bigger for a more enjoyable video watching experience, woohoo!

The story of Emily fruit crisp is an interesting one. Business and life partners Emily Wong and Alex Ascani met in London. Alex studied in Singapore and it was on a trip back to Asia that they discovered how to make fruit crisp. Alex decided to name the brand after Emily, so he could bring Emily wherever he went and now, make the world fall in love with Emily… fruit crisps.

The fruit crisps come in banana, apple and pineapple flavours. All natural fruit ingredients with a touch of oil, no gluten, sugar or preservatives, very healthy and tasty.

This blog post and review is a little late in coming. Just in this year alone, I’ve published 170 articles and several more dozens to go and whilst I was preparing for another Etude House product feature and review post, I realized that I haven’t blogged about this from many months back, oops! It must have fell through the cracks, nonetheless it’s still not too late as these products are still on sale in stores. 🙂
