My journey to clearer & healthy skin with TCS Aesthetics Central Clinic

Do you face facial pigmentations, skin bumps / tacs & moles like I do? Well, I’ve got an excellent solution for your skincare woes to share with you today!

I’ve been facing small brown bumps on my cheeks for about a year plus, which are tiny, so it’s not very visible unless you see them from a very close distance. I’ve also got two pretty visible moles above my right eye, sometimes I get asked if they’re an ant! >.< See:

While waiting for the anesthetic cream to take effect ahead of the CO2 laser, with no foundation on.

So I’m very glad that I’ve been undergoing these two laser treatments at TCS Aesthetics Clinic to treat my skin issues and give me clearer, healthier skin. ☺️

1.Q Switched + Genesis Laser  are two different but relatively light laser treatments that help to reduce skin pigmentation, acne marks and allows for skin rejuvenation. Having completed 2 sessions, these  combined laser treatment help to reduce my acne outbreaks therefore helping me achieve clearer and healthier skin than before. Q Switched laser is a more focused light treatment and has a slight sensation but not painful. Genesis laser is done with the same machine and feels like a gush of warm air which feels very comfortable.

If you’re interested, you can continue to read on to find out more about this laser treatment:

What is it?

A Q-Switched (aka Q-Switched Nd-Yag Laser) Laser is used in various procedures: the laser is a beam of energy at a specific wavelength (1064nm) which is applied to the skin and is absorbed by coloured pigments such as freckles, sun spots, age spots, etc. in the skin.

The power settings of the laser can be set at different levels and frequencies to accommodate your specific condition and expectations.

What is it used for?

  • Pigmentation (such as freckles, sun spots, age spots, brown spots, melasma, birthmarks)
  • Acne marks
  • Fairer skin
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Pimples and acne
  • Tattoo removal

Genesis laser is intended to improve skin texture, reduce wrinkles, reduce acne scars, and diminish pore size

2.CO2 Laser is a more intensive laser treatment that helps remove bigger skin imperfections, such as darker bigger moles and/or birthmarks or acne scars. Dr Tan used it to remove my two moles above my right eyes and it is recovering very well – I will be doing another update in time to come.

What is it?

Fractional or “pixilated” carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers are one of the latest advances in non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments. The CO2 laser has the longest wavelength of all the lasers on the market and can be used safely on darker skin types with appropriate adjustments in the settings.

What is it used for?

Fractional CO2 lasers excel at treating deeper wrinkles, more severe textural changes from sun damage, wrinkles, blotchiness, acne scars, and surgical or traumatic scars. It can be used on the delicate eyelid skin and around the mouth. It is also a very effective treatment for sun damage and precancerous growths.

Three weeks after Q-Switched laser treatment and Two weeks after CO2 laser treatment, with foundation on. Two moles above my right eye is barely visible. Dr Tan says that the brown spots will continue to lighten with time, so I will do another update with no foundation makeup on, in time to come.

Many of my close friends have asked me where I got my laser treatments done and I have recommend them Dr Ryan Tan and his excellent team at TCS Aesthetics Clinic at The Central, Clark Quay.  Dr Ryan Tan is a very patient doctor who will gently explain the procedures before starting so I feel very safe and assured under his hands during the two different laser treatments I have gone through. Their prices are also very reasonable. I highly recommend Dr Ryan Tan and TCS Aesthetics Clinic! If you’d like to find out more about the various beauty treatments they have to offer, visit their website at www.cosmeticsurgery.sg. 🙂

Thank you Dr Tan & team at TCS Aesthetics Clinic for taking care of my skin!

You’re Never Too Old to Achieve Your Dreams

I turned 27 recently over the past July. And that got me thinking that I’m 3 years shy of hitting the big 30 . It seemed so far away, when I was in my early 20s, but all of sudden, I have friends who are past 30, more are getting married and even pregnant. No, I’m not thinking about marriage – it’s still a milestone that’s not even remotely near in sight because I’m still very much single. But my recent birthday did got me thinking, just what did I achieve in the last 3-4 years since I started working and how far am I from achieving what I’d like to achieve?

And while I am not doing exceedingly well in property as some top producers are, I am doing better with every year which I am thankful for. While I still don’t own a car or close to owning my own property, I believe that these goals will become a reality in time, if I continue to be conscientious in providing good service and strategic in my plans as a property agent. Hopefully these goals will be reached sooner than later, especially since the property market is picking up in Singapore.

And while my current love life is almost non-existent (yes I admit I am picky) I am very blessed with a wide circle of friends – not just hi-bye friends but really good and supportive friends who make my life better with laughter and valuable encouragement, advice and insights.

And it got me thinking – what do I make of my life when I am 30? Heck, what do I make of my life at the end of it? Am I just going to work hard, be successful in my career, own a car, a house, find a good husband, get married and have kids? Is that all there is to my life?

Don’t get me wrong – to work hard, be successful in one’s career, own a car, a house, find a good husband, get married and have kids – that’s a great life right there. I want a life that’s greater than just these, a life that goes beyond just me.

I starting thinking – if I die today, will I leave a legacy behind? And if I do, what will that be?

I may never be able to be the next Mark Zuckerburg of Facebook, Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google,  Bill Gates of Microsoft or Warren Buffet of the stock market world – but I still want to be able to leave a legacy and impact on this world that will live on even when I die.

My ambition in addition, or maybe in continuation of being a producing real estate agent, is to own and manage businesses and be a real estate developer (or part of a committee) when I am older. I also want to make an impact on this world by inspiring others to live a positive life – something I try to achieve through my social media platforms.

Right now I may not be able to see clearly what kind of legacy I will be leaving behind, in both tangible and intangible ways – but I believe that if I live my life earnestly one day at a time, I will be able to slow piece together the picture of my life that I envision.

No matter how old you are right now – I want to encourage you that you’re never too old to dream dreams and to achieve them.

If you’ve never heard the story of KFC by Colonel Sanders – here’s an extract from The Verge:
Sanders didn’t retire at the age of 65. That’s when he sold his first restaurant, and began developing the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in earnest. Nearly 60-years-old, he would spend days at a restaurant, peddling his chicken technique, cooking for customers, and often sleeping in the back of his car. At 73, he sold KFC for $2 million. He was not a billionaire, but he lived in comfort for the remainder of his years.

If Colonel Sanders can create a fried chicken franchise at the grand old grandfatherly age of 65 – what excuses do we have?

Checklist for Le Diner en Blanc First Timers

Hi Loves!

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be heading to my first Le Diner en Blanc this coming 3rd June! I’ve compiled a quick and simple checklist to get you prepared for your first Le Diner en Blanc experience. 😉

If you already know what Le Diner en Blanc is all about and want to get invited, head over the registration page here to get your invite!

What is Le Diner en Blanc (DEB) about?

Le Dîner en Blanc – Singapore returns for its fifth edition on 3rd June 2017 with a brand new team of dedicated hosts: Alexis Lhoyer, Guillaume Chabrières, and Jasmine Tuan

Le Dîner en Blanc is an international viral picnic event celebrated in over 60 cities in 25 countries where guests gather at a secret location for the sole purpose of sharing a gourmet meal with good friends in one of their city’s most unexpected public spaces. The Singapore edition began in 2012, and has been gaining traction ever since. The last edition of Le Dîner en Blanc – Singapore was in 2015, held at the Old Kallang Airport with 1,500 invited members and friends.

Invites are open in 3 phases:

Phase 1 – For those who have attended the last edition of Le Diner en Blanc (Opened 27th April, 9am)

Phase 2 – For the invited guests of Phase 1 to invite their friends
(Opened 3rd May, 9am)

Phase 3 – Those who are new to Le Diner en Blanc – Singapore
(Opened 9th May, 9am)

All Phases will be closed by 19th May 2017 <—– Extended to 24th May, 11.30pm

Simply put, the event started in France about 30 years ago and has now spread to major cities globally. It’s a strictly by invite event, where the venue is kept completely secret and everyone who registers comes dressed in all chic formal white outfits and also prepared with an all white dinner setting (yes tables, chairs and 3 course food!). Registration allows you to sign up for bus seats which will pick you up hours ahead of the event and then take you to the secret venue. For that special evening, hundreds other Le Diner en Blanc guests will gather and dinner together, befitting the name “Dinner in White”!

Now let’s get started with the Checklist!

1. Read Up and Get To Know Le Diner en Blanc Better.

If you’re new to a topic or subject then the right thing to do to get to know it better is to read up about it. So head over DEB’s Singapore Official Website’s FAQ to know more. From what to wear to what to bring, the answers are all there.

2. Tables, Table Cloth, Chairs & All White Cutleries

It is recommended to get square folding tables however the closest I can find online in Singapore are these 70×50 tables, so they’ll have to do! For foldable chairs you can get them here, and throw on a white lace cloth to cover it up. For affordable cutlery, make a trip down to IKEA for plates that start from $0.90!

3. 3 Course Dinner Menu Ideas

Most guests go with their Significant Other, for me I’ll be going with my bestie Christabelle and here are some very useful websites that I will refer to get inspiration for our 3 course dinner menu! Jamie Oliver’s Romantic Recipes are a great start if you’re planning to cook and pack a romantic dinner menu, they even have the level of difficulty and time taken for each meal item suggested. Another useful link is BBC’s Good Food site, they offer recipes from starters, to mains to desserts, win! One special note is that you can’t bring your own alcohol cause apparently that’s not allowed, so if you must, order from DEB’s E-Store (accessible only after registration) before closing date on 24th May and pick up at the event. Alternatively, bring your own non-alcoholic drinks. 🙂

If you want to join in the fun but have absolutely no time or skills to prepare a cooked dinner, then I suggest getting and packing these from the supermarket or convenience store:

1) Starters: Biscuits and cheese cubes

2) Mains: Chicken with Salad

3) Chocolate Cake Slices

4. All White Outfit Ideas & Inspiration

It’s not hard to look good in all white, neither is it hard to shop for it! Probably the toughest part of this is getting the right fit for the various pieces. If you need more inspiration, head over to the results for “All White Outfit” on Pinterest! Bearing in mind that the weather in Singapore can be humid but windy at night, don’t prepare jackets or outerwear that’s too thick, but be prepared with a shawl or thin coat!

5. Be prepared for Wet Weather

Last but not the least, it can get rainy in Singapore and rather unexpectedly too. So come prepared with umbrellas and raincoats -in white if possible, if not transparent will do too!

That is all for my blog post, I do hope you’ve found this quick and simple checklist helpful – see you at the event, be sure to say hi if you see me! 😉

The Body Shop Expert Masks Dinner @ Joie & More | August Recap

Hi Loves!

It’s sure been a long time since my last monthly recap! Hopefully my next recap won’t be 3 months away, LOL. Let’s dive straight in, shall we?

TheBodyShop’s Expert Mask series has been great! My faves of the 5 are Himalayan Charcoal Purifiying Mask which not only de-clog pores but also smoothens skin texture as well as British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask which leaves my skin hydrated, refresh and I always love a rose scent!

Lunch at Toa Payoh’s Mr Bean, this laksa is really good! Also, this stirrer is really cute, didn’t buy it tho! I always like to see new nail trends online for inspiration for when I do visit a nail parlour to get my nails done, which frankly, isn’t often nowadays, haha. Was in Toa Payoh for a CPD course, speaking of which it’s time for me to attend my yearly courses again. The duties of a working adult are endless. And I love my ERA office at Toa Payoh because they offer free coffee and desserts! I wish they had this at our main Mountbatten office! Some of the informative slides about landed housing during the CPD class. Lunch with Shirley at the White Bee Hoon restaurant!Got a Pineapple for a client who was collecting keys for their resale home! It’s meant to roll on the floor for prosperity and you can enjoy the sweetness of the fruit after!  Coincidentally chancing about Mark at the office!  On the same early August day after a busy day, I met up with my gfs Smita and Leanne at The Library for bites and drinks!  The drinks are conceptualized around interesting personalities, such as Marilyn Monroe menu offers sweet flavours. I opted for Sun of Fuji which is great and as I’m typing this, I’d like to revisit this place again! Actually there are a lot of cool bars around Singapore which I haven’t yet explore, so maybe I’ll check those out first, LOL.Our drinks! Wine, Sun of Fuji and Gin and Tonic. With Smita and Leanne. <3 It was a belated birthday gathering for us as we’re all July babies! I know I know, I’m taking almost an entire year to update. Blog procrastination has been real, and I’ve said many times that I will step on it, LOL. I will really try! 😛Our bites! These are delicious too!

Was invited for Aldo’s FW launch at Paragon and I got myself these pair of lovely blush pink heels which I’ve been loving and gotten many many compliments! Yes, their SS2017 is now out, you can check them out in stores. 🙂

Also checked out Uniqlo’s LifeWear exhibition at Dempsey and saw many beautiful collaborations such as the Carine Roitfeld one above. They also opened their new flagship at Orchard Central which is awesome because you literally can find everything to suit your fashion needs! If you’ve been following me on my IG, you’ll know that I’ve been checking out their recent Minnie Mouse collection and got a few pieces for myself!

If you’re searching for comfy and trendy casual shoes, be sure to check out FitFlop at Wisma!

I really love these traditional flaky skin Teo Chew style mooncakes from Thye Moh Chan soooo much! I was actually sad that they only sell these for a limited time only and couldn’t purchase after the season. Be sure to check them out for this year’s Mooncake festival, they’re actually quite affordable at $25.80/box for a set of 4 which you can mix different flavours!

Was quite obsessed with my Bitmoji and here are some that made me smile!

My sister joined the Pokemon Go craze and here’s a pic of me with her Charmander. LOL.

Another day at Toa Payoh and here’s one of my fave dish Lei Cha at the HDB Hub basement food court. Also got my nails done in Watermelon style!Had a CG gathering, although we’ve multiplied now, those were fun times! <3Dinner with le sis, we love this Chic-a-boo outlet that’s newly opened near our place!Coffee Frappe at The Coffee Bean at Marina Square while waiting for clients to arrive or a meeting.
Not quite sure what this was doing in my August photos record but anyway he’s too cute not to post, in case you’re wondering where this is from, it’s from A Bug’s Life, one my favourite Disney animations! OOTD, in my silver slip ons from Fit-flop.Dinner with my friend Royce, we had Teo Chew porridge at Beauty World.

I had the privilege to attend Anna Sui’s FW event at Sentosa and the event space was SO LOVELY. The bloggers and I in attendance couldn’t stop snapping away not only at the products but at the entire set up! One of my all time fave perfume is Anna Sui’s Lucky Wish, it’s a lovely powdery floral scent that’s neither too light nor strong. I recommend you checking it out!

Attending DFS Beauty Class at DFS Orchard and tried the Lancome Energie De Vie which was very refreshing and saw this really cute Michael Kors mini bagpack which was not cheap tho, it was around $700? You could get a bigger work tote with this price, but I guess it’s a really cute colour and design. Also got a fun goodie bag with HR mascara and IOPE blush, tried both out and they’re pretty good, you can buy these from DFS! 🙂

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Attended Clozette’s Diva event at Bugis+ and got a cute metallic tattoo and grabbed dinner with Fenny and her BF after!

Met up with Fenny for dinner and thanks to her friend, we got a 1for1 deal via his Entertainer App at ARC Cafe! The duck confit is not as good at Saveur but the beef dish was not bad!

Attended Bottega Verde’s event of the launch of their Custom Moisturizer, simply get your skin reading done at their Suntec outlet and an order will be made in Italy before sending it over to Singapore for your collection. I’ve used mine as a day moisturizer as it contains SPF and while it’s cream base it is lightweight for Singapore’s weather.  The same evening, Fenny and I visited Woow’s new store at Plaza Singapore, have you tried this refreshing rainbow dessert ice yet? 😉

Thanks to Base Asia Entertainment and Nuffnang, my sister and I attended the Premiere night of Annie the Musical which I enjoyed very much!

Went for a long overdue facial session at Atlas Medispa, always enjoy my sessions there. 🙂

Saw some kids playing at the fountain close to home and kinda wish I was a kid and able to do something like this!

Had dinner at home with the family consisting of takeaway and we kinda over did it with too many items! 😛

Celebrated Netccentric’s 10th Anniversary at Red Dot Museum with some fellow influencers! Last picture with my manager Christina who’ve left, wishing you all the best babe!  Joined Leanne’s Mac Masterclass and Robinsons styling event at Robinsons at Heeren and it was great fun with the girls, Fenny and Raa!

Funny story to tell, I use to be able to take every bus back home from the closest MRT station but then this bus 26 changed route and I would end up taking it multiple times and alight at a bus stop further away and end up walking the longer way home and it almost always happened to be on my heels! >.< After about 3 times, I would carefully avoid 26. 😛

Ending off this month’s recap with some of the beauty goodies sent my way!

TheBodyShop TeaTree Duo is great for battling acne outbreak. Recently, I had a skincare outbreak because of a product I used which was too oily for me, and I immediately use the 3in1 TeaTree as Mask and my skin improved rapidly the next morning.L’Oreal constantly comes out with new hair innovations and range, this OleoTherapy consists of Oil Infused hair products, made with Oils from 6 flowers which boasts to restore dull, dry and damaged hair. For more information check out hereThanks to my friend Sybs who went to Korea, I got a stash of Innisfree products, and she highly recommended this Sebum Oil Free Primer which really does keep skin matte all day. Thanks to my gfs who got this set of Furla pouches or my birthday I’ve found these to be so handy and useful!

Some of my favourite products for August, and the silver tube is the body gel that goes with Refa massager to keep skin moisturized and taut.

That’s all for August’s recap, hope you enjoyed it! Leave me a comment if you have any questions or suggestions and I’ll get back as soon as I can! <3

Beauty Review: Naka Kirei Enzymes From Japan

UPDATE:
I've been getting a lot of questions via comments and emails and my sincere apologies in advance that I am unable to attend to them because they are repeated questions which I will attempt to answer here.
1.If you're planning to purchase in Malaysia, you can do so via this website: http://my.nakakirei.com/
2. Any questions pertaining to how I find the product is in the last paragraph of this post, additionally there are 30 capsules in each bag, I completed the entire bag in a month and I found it helped me to maintain a flat tummy. However I cannot guarantee it will work for you and I cannot attest how effective it is compared to other fat burning products because I have not tried the others before.
3. Last but not the least, if you have any more questions pertaining to the product and purchase of the product, you can email to: tw@nakakirei.com. Many thanks for coming by my blog and good luck! <3

In case you didn’t already know, I’m a huge fan of beauty and health supplements. I started taking them for better skin since I was 18 and I’ve never looked back. As I grow older I find that I would take different health supplements to tackle whatever health issues I was more concerned at the particular point in time.

So recently I was introduced to Naka Kiri Enzymes from Japan and as a beauty/health supplement enthusiast, I was naturally very intrigued by it!

Let me break down the information I’ve obtained for your easy consumption:

  • There is no preservatives used.
  • Naka Kirei Enzymes is made in Japan, and is shipped from Japan directly to Singapore.
  • Naka Kirei Enzymes is featured in many Japanese women magazines such as Miss and ST

So How Do I take my Naka Kirei Enzymes?

My Thoughts:

I find that taking Naka Kirei Enzymes after my meal has helped me to maintain a toned tummy despite having a full dinner the night before. I like that it is super fuss free in a capsule, easily taken with a cup of water. Also the packet is convenient to carry around with me, in my bag. Last but not the least, it is made with all natural ingredients so I can take it with an ease of mind!

Are you suffering from regular constipation or looking for a weight loss health supplement? Why not give Naka Kiri Enzymes a try? Made of all natural ingredients in Japan, I like to take mine after dinner at night and I find it helps me digest my food better!

Birthday Celebrations & Batam Trip! | July Recap

Continuing on my blog recaps, let’s dive into July, my birthday month! (Check out my June post here if you haven’t)  I’ve also travelled to Bali with friends for Jac’s during the same month and will be posting about the trip in a separate blog post cause otherwise this post would be too long. Once again, tons of food posts below, don’t read on an empty stomach! 😛
Birthday Celebrations & Batam trip | Enabalista July 2016 Blog Recap_093Started my month with a homemade sandwich – a regular combination consists of ham, lettuce, cheese & tomatoes – sometimes I cook eggs and add them in too. Easy peasy!Birthday Celebrations & Batam trip | Enabalista July 2016 Blog Recap_000Headed down to Wandervale EC for a client meeting.

LAKSA STEAMBOAT SEAFOOD RESTAURANT

Laksa Steamboat Seafood Restaurant 404 Telok Blangah Road Singapore 098840. Tel: 62757069

This is really good, about $30-40/pax but fresh ingredients and really yummy Laksa soup base, recommended! 😀

Couldn’t resist trying McDonald’s Salted Egg Chicken Burger – I was lucky that I tried one after the complains that the salted egg was too little – so I got one with quite liberal amount, yay! Would most definitely eat one again except it was only on the menu for a limited time.Birthday Celebrations & Batam trip | Enabalista July 2016 Blog Recap_006

It was my first time going to Sumiya at Orchard Central and I enjoyed it! Only except we over ordered and couldn’t finish, hahaha. Also chanced upon really nice photo-taking spots on the rooftop! Always thankful for my friendship with Christabelle and Clarabelle. <3

BAD CAFE THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED

Not even gonna name the cafe, both Belles recommended this cafe but that day we went, it served up lousy lemonade – granted they replaced it but their service still sucked nonetheless. You’d notice I usually don’t complain about stuff on my blog cause I don’t like to give air time to shitty things but man – this cafe is crap and if you know which it is, don’t ever go back again and I can’t wait to pop a champagne on the day they close. Birthday Celebrations & Batam trip | Enabalista July 2016 Blog Recap_017 Birthday Celebrations & Batam trip | Enabalista July 2016 Blog Recap_018

Lunch at Whitegrass @ Chijmes is Bomb | June Recap

Hey hey!

The months have been kinda crazy, to say the least and I’ve most definitely neglected my blog. 🙁 Now that crazy January is over, and I’m slowing easing back to a somewhat more normal schedule and quitting on Korean dramas and Youtube binge watching, I’ll be compiling each month’s happening into one post each, so we’ve got 8 to go considering this is June 2016’s recap! XD Just compiling the photos for June into this post and looking back at the fond memories made me smile, I hope you’ll enjoy this post and come to enjoy the upcoming months’ updates as much as I enjoy looking back at them! Also, I’m more convinced to get active on Youtube moving forward (promise I will once I clear these 8 posts!) because it will be way more fun looking back via videos! I won’t be linking to brands and websites as I’d usually do (to save time, really) – but if you see any brands / products / whatever that a quick google doesn’t answer, let me know in comments below and I will do my best to get back to you. 6 Bags Every Lady Needs

We don’t wear the same pair of shoes for every occasion in life. There are work flats, event heels and sports shoes. Similarly, in my opinion every modern lady should have these 6 bags in her wardrobe to carry her through the week.

(1) The Everyday Work Bag

(1) Work Bag

A roomy black Boston bag like this is perfect as an everyday and work bag because it can carry most essentials like wallet, diary and water bottle. Black is also a colour that goes well with all outfits and suitable for most (if not all) occasions.

(2) Day Clutch

(2) Day Clutch

If you’re planning to head out for a quick lunch appointment or coffee run, it’s not always necessary to carry your entire bag – a handy day clutch is perfect for some cash and tissues. Also, don’t you think that this sweet floral design is really apt for the Lunar New Year period and Spring season that’s coming right up?

(3) The Weekender

(3) Weekender 2

The Weekender is my favourite type of bags – maybe it’s because I like spacious bags that allows me to carry lots of things without having to separate them into 2 bags and it’s definitely also because these bags are great for staycations and as on-flight bag.

(4) The Crossbody Bag

(4) Crossbody

For off-work and weekends, it’s recommended to switch out the everyday work bag for something more casual, laidback and pretty – to suit the mood! Bucket bags have totally been making a come back – it’s the perfect cute and trendy crossbody right now.

(5) Cosmetic Bag

(6) Cosmetic Pouch

This bag maybe small but it’s definitely essential. Instead of rummaging your bag for your lipstick and blusher, store them in this square pouch. You can also grab the entire pouch and make a quick trip to the toilet before leaving work instead of awkwardly holding them in your hands. You can even pick from multiple cute prints for this pouch!

(6) The Tote

(5) Tote

The Tote is probably the most practical bag of the lot – it’s roomy without being too bulky, it can double up as a work bag and if you pick a soft colour like beige, you can carry it for both formal and casual events.

Lately I’ve been able to go out in style on the weekends with these 2 cute clutch sling bags.

6 Bags Every Lady Needs | Enabalista_0000Each bag came with stuffing and wrapped in paper to keep the bag in shape and protected.
6 Bags Every Lady Needs | Enabalista_0001The cosmetic pouch can store quite a fair bit of items! Here’s a vintage looking clutch bag.6 Bags Every Lady Needs | Enabalista_00036 Bags Every Lady Needs | Enabalista_0002 And this is the other cute pink clutch sling, which matches well with white or pastel outfits, it also comes in other colours if you’re keen!

Unconventional Staycation @ 5footway.inn BoatQuay

Are you looking for a weekend staycation? Well, I’ve got an unconventional staycation to recommend today!

A while ago, my bestie and I enjoyed our boutique hostel staycation at 5footway.inn BoatQuay. Our loft room (Standard Triple Loft) was pretty in sky blue, I like that it has a window and natural light coming in. Even though it was small, it’s decent sized and besides we didn’t spend much time in the room apart from sleeping. What we loved the most about the boutique hostel was the view of the river and the city from the open terrace, both in the day and night.

We chose to check in on a Saturday afternoon which coincided with bestie’s birthday! To celebrate her birthday, we headed to Plaza Singapura Mall to shop, dinner and catch the thriller movie “The Accountant” featuring Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick. It was late night by the time the movie was over so we Uber-ed back to the hostel. After washing up at the communal restrooms, we headed to the open lounge cum open terrace area to enjoy a cup of milo for supper. We fell in love with the view so we decided to wake up for breakfast the next day to enjoy the same view again!

Would definitely recommend this boutique hostels to both locals and tourists – we saw a really mixed and international crowd from Thais, Indians, Chinese and French. Just be reminded that they’re located on the 2nd floor and there’s no lift access so it’s best to travel light or be prepared to lug your luggage up the stairs. If you’re planning to book a visit, I’ve got good news for you! My readers get to enjoy a 10% off the room rates – simply email the promo code “ENA10” to reservation@5footwayinn.com to book your stay. This code is valid for booking and staying before June 2017.

Of China Blue Dress & Comfy Grey Tops

I don’t know about you, but I very much prefer shopping in person in stores over online shopping when it comes to clothings – you certainly can’t touch or feel the material or see the size and fit of a piece on clothing online! That said, I consider myself blessed because my body size usually fits whatever the fit model dons on line (S or M) although I am a lot shorter then them, haha. So when I do come across a credible online website that ships affordable fashion – It makes me excited to share it with you!

The website in mention for today’s post is FashionMia. I picked a Round Neck Blue and White China Dress and 2 grey tops which I’ve been loving and wearing of late. Gotta say the material for its price is really decent and most importantly – comfortable!

Was out grocery shopping for dinner with my sister while in my dress hence the supermarket background photos you’ll see below. You can find the grey hoodie top here. For more dresses here and tops here.

Happy shopping!

5D4N Best of Korean Beauty, Food & Culture!

Hi guys!!!

You might have already seen my first blog post for my Korea trip, if you haven’t, check it out here -> 7 Recommended Beauty & Wellness Spots in Korea!

As mentioned at the end of the previous Korea trip post, I want to follow up with another blog post featuring the Korean Cultural and Food spots… But after some deliberation, I decided I’d do this massive blog post detailing pretty much the entire trip, well cus’ there’s so much information and random bits and pieces of my trip that won’t quite fall into “Cultural and Food” features. So here’s my recent 5D4N Korea trip blog post and photo diary! It definitely took me a long long while (>6 hours and counting, broke up in a few sittings) to get this post up and frankly a lot of inertia on my part to get into it – nonetheless, I’m just glad it’s finally up! 😀 I’m gonna try to follow up with a video compilation of snippets of the trip as well – so you can look out for that too! 🙂

Okayyy so let’s just get right into it! 😉

Pre Korea Trip

Bid my sister good bye as she would be leaving for her Phd studies in London while I am in Korea. We took Asiana airline with pretty good service and food! Definitely no qualms flying with them again. Sat next to Carolyn our friendly KTO Singapore personnel for both to & fro trips, glad to have someone familiar next to me to chat and enjoy meals with instead of being alone! 😀 Carolyn had the Bibimbap meal while I chose a fish option… which smelled a lot more appetising than it tasted, hence I opted for the Bibimbap meal on the trip back to Singapore, heh!

Korea Day 1:
Udong Noodles at Chungha

Chimac Dinner at Myeong Dong

Udong Noodles at Chungha

We had Udong noodles at Chungha for our first breakfast in Korea. Before that, we had about 20 min to freshen up at at the airport toilet – makeup and change of outfit to be ready for our first day! I’m not a Udon noodles fan – but after this meal, I have a renewed appreciation for Udon noodles! The way Koreans do Udon is so tasty and the little puffs you see are fried crispies (is that how you spell it, lol). It’s not life changing, but if you’ll be passing by this restaurant I’d definitely recommend trying the Udon here. 🙂

Incheon Songwol-dong Fairy Tale Village

After getting filled up, we headed for Incheon’s Songwol-dong Fairy Tale Village – it’s a fusion fairy tale village where it combines both Disney and local Korean fair tales! Very whimsical and cute, definitely recommended for fairy tale lovers to come by and check out this place that’s like a story book (or many fairytales) coming alive! I highly recommend planning a trip here the first thing in the morning from 9-10am to avoid the crowd which will start swarming in after 10am  and it’d be hard to take pictures.

Lunch At Pocheon Herb Island

For lunch, we headed to Pocheon Herb Island for a western chicken chop meal which was huge – I only finished 1.5 pieces. They also served up edible flowers which was interesting. Pocheon Herb Island isn’t an island but a european style day resort with flower and herb gardens, herb healing center, bakery, shops, restaurant – mostly boasting with natural ingredients harvested from the “island” itself. I super love the essential oils and teas and regret not stocking up more while I was there – they were very reasonably priced and I highly recommend getting more if you’re planning a trip there. Also, it’s recommended to stay until the night to watch the lights in the night which gets pretty enchanting and magical! Unfortunately we left before dusk as we had to head off for our dinner. Entry to the island is ticketed and additional costs for meals and spa. For more about Herb Healing Center Spa and Herb Island photos and review, head over to my previous post. Bibimbap Dinner at Gogung

For our first dinner, we had Korea’s famous Bibimbap (mixed rice) at a local’s favourite brand – Gogung restaurant – apparently they have a few outlets throughout Korea so you can easily locate one when you’re in Korea – Koreans have Bibimbap in a steel bowl during summer and stone bowl during winter. The bowl was however too huge for most of us bloggers – I recommend sharing a bowl if you don’t eat a lot of rice and ordering more sides for sharing!

Chimac Dinner Round 2 with Livia

After dinner, I met up with my local friend Livia for Chimac – which is chicken and beer, a trending favourite supper meal among locals, before street shopping. It was my first Chimac experience and 678 Chimac store at Myeong Dong is a great choice – I’ve had my fair share of Korean fried chicken/equivalent in Singapore – 4 Fingers, Bonchon, WingStop but seriously the Korean one takes the cake – idk why the chicken is SOO soft and tender on the inside?! Must be some kind of special recipe – unfortunately the servings were hugeee and we couldn’t finish both the fish udon soup and chicken. Both items were amazing I would most definitely go back and order both items again. chimac-dinner-myeong-dong-streets-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0007A short stroll from Lotte City Myeong Dong Hotel where I stayed.

HAHA. These stars of the latest global drama hit, Descendants of the Sun are popular in and out of Korea! The celebrity phenomenon in Korea is truly something incredible and eye opening – we don’t have major celebrities in country so small like Singapore so it’s hard to relate – and I wonder what it’s like for celebrities to see their own cut outs while shopping or just walking on the streets?  😛chimac-dinner-myeong-dong-streets-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0004 chimac-dinner-myeong-dong-streets-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0005 Tony Moly riding high on the Pokemon craze!

Korea Day 2:
K-Makeover at Beaute 101
Lunch at Duggi Tteok-bokki
Garosu-gil Simone Handbag Museum
Spa Lei
Dinner at Black Pig Korea
Seokchon Lake Super Moon Exhibition

Decided to gym twice during my trip and made it on day 2. Both times it was around 15 min but it was nonetheless great to kick start the day with – I don’t have a gym to go to back home and after this trip I realize how great it is to have one. The good news is that the gym right next door to my place (ok, 5 min walk) is opening soon and I’ve already signed up. My tip is to wear gym clothes to sleep and wake up and go down to gym, so less inertia and more motivation, since you’re already dressed for it!  HA. 😉day-2-morning-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0000

Lunch at Duggi Tteok-bokki

We had lunch at Duggi Tteok-bokki, for 9000-10,000won it’s all you can eat and a lot of instant and fried food choices – not a big fan but after speaking to a Korean friend, he was telling me that it was probably because we didn’t know how to prepare the food properly? – I’m not sure if you know how to – perhaps this is a place best visited with locals who can serve up a mean meal with the ingredients! 🙂 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0013 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0000 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0001 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0002 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0003 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0004 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0005 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0006 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0007 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0009 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0008 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0010 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0011 duggi-dokbokki-lunch-review-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0012

Simone Handbag Museum at Garosu-gil

After lunch we headed to check out branded and exquisite handbags from past and present at Simone Handbag Museum – this really reminded me of my LASALLE days and especially our fashion exposure industry trip to Hong Kong. If you’re a fashion student. fashion or history lover – I recommend dropping by and catering at least 30-60 min and opt for a guided tour cause the guide shed so much more valuable insights to the bags on display then we would have gained if we were just looking at it by ourselves – it’s best to call in to make an appointment and the guide/curator can speak pretty decent english – way better than she’s willing to take credit for. 🙂 There’s a really impressive bag studio at the basement and if you’re based in Korea – you can sign up for a class of 4 lessons to learn how to DIY/custom make your own bag. P.S. Photos are technically not allowed in the museum displays, but I sneaked these, lol.

Garosugil Gangnam Streets

After checking out the museum, we had a short interval to walk and shop the streets of Garosugil Gangnam – which is a great place to people watch – the people along Gangnam streets are very stylish and chic – if I had the chance, I’d like to spend hours just people watching while enjoying a cuppa coffee at Coffeesmith cafe.garosugil-gangnam-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0000 garosugil-gangnam-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0002 garosugil-gangnam-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0003 garosugil-gangnam-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0004 garosugil-gangnam-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0006 garosugil-gangnam-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0007

Spa Lei

We headed for Spa Lei with a short 1 hour interval so we didn’t manage to get to do much except touring the space and soaking our feet in the hot spa towards the end – photos are strictly not allowed but we had the manager’s supervision to take these while we were inside, specially for our review. BBQ Dinner at Black Pig Korea

If you’re fan of BBQ pork then this is where you’ll be right at home, hahaha. I don’t think I’ve seen any BBQ shops quite as good as this one – on hindsight the smoke suction and the entire shop and service was incredible – I don’t recall smelling like BBQ when I left the shop. Am personally not a huge fan of pork or BBQ in general but definitely appreciate the experience here.

Super Moon Installation at Seokchon Lake

Can I just say I really enjoyed and appreciate the Super Moon? Super Moon is an installation at Seokchon which coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival when the Moon is the rounded and brightest – so a lot of locals – young and old, couples and in groups were out to admire both the Super Moon and real moon. It was very nice and heartwarming to see grandpas, couples, families with young kids out in the park admiring the installation. And I super love how restful and super cute the Super Moon is!

Site Inspection @ S Class Spa

We visited this luxe S Class Spa – they have this really interesting couple suite that has 2 beds for couple massage and even a love tub for soaking and it looks like a hotel suite. King Crab Dinner @ Kim & Kim

It’s honestly hard to pick a favourite meal in Korea cause I have a few – but I can say this was my favourite dinner! The King Crab, the soup base, the seafood – top shell, salmon, the rice – everything was SO GOOD. The only issue would be having too much of a good thing(s) in one meal? LOL. So the idea is to come here with a sizable group (at least 4-5) and order to share!

Hongdae Shopping & Night Out

After Kim & Kim, we walked back to contine shopping at Hongdae! And then Siaw Ee and Brenda left to meet their friends respectively. So Joyce and I continued shopping and had desserts before I met my friend Taeseong; for supper and a walk around Hongdae club scene before heading back to the hotel!

Joyce and I wanted to try a different breakfast so we headed out of our hotel on the Saturday morning… but our hotel is in a CBD area so there wasn’t many choices available. So we headed back to the Angel In Us cafe where we have our usual coffees. HA.

K-Style Hub

K-Style Hub is a tourist information and experience center for tourists to learn more about all things Korean – culture, food, technology. We had the most fun with the Virtual Reality booths where we tried on goggles and experienced virtual skiing and taking wefies with popular Kpop stars, in our case we chose Big Bang members! We had about an hour here, but you can probably spend half a day here and still not be bored!

I still think seeking a local opinion – tried and tested options are the safest/best. That said, all surgeries have risk, so always remember that.

HAHA. If you want the full look you’ll have to wear the head accessories and shoes too. 😉

Grevin Museum

Grevin Museum is a wax museum from Paris. It’s not as famous as Madame Tussauds’s from London but it’s equally as good or even more innovative than the latter. I DID NOT EXPECT TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN. I definitely recommend it. For 18,000 won / S$21 is WORTH IT.  I don’t want to raise your expectations too high cause obviously we went without expectations and were floored – from interactive games to hob-nobbing with notable figures past and present to getting cosy with celebrities from Hollywood to Hallyu fame – you’re bound to enjoy one, if not many elements of this museum. Also, they have a “make your own wax figure” experience which is pretty cool and a fun activity for families with children to experience. So I heard from the Grevin guide that Park Shin Hye isn’t as popular as the other male actors/actresses who are in the industry with the type of credentials and years of experiences that she has – which made me sad and wonder why that’s the case? I mean, she’s such a talented and gorgeous actress, no?! She’s pretty spot on in picking popular Korean Dramas and catapulting her fellow actors to fame. Hopefully she will become a bigger star in time to come! <3

Taking a breather to stock take how long this post is, LOL. And I am more than half way through – I can do this. HAHA.

Lunch here IS FREAKING AWESOME. If you’re like me and you like traditional Korean meals then this is highly recommended – I tried to look for the address (thanks to Linda!), and I THINK it’s this one, hopefully the numbers still work!

Osulloc Tea House @ Myeong Dong

I love green tea, in case you don’t already know – I drink a cup of sugar free green tea each night before I sleep for the calming and detox benefits. And I love the flavour! So it was perfect to enjoy a cup of matcha latte and caramel/chestnut (we didn’t figure out what the brown cake flavour was, but it tastes better than the matcha cake, lol) here! They even have drip green tea here – didn’t get to try that, maybe next time! Highly recommend purchases to make include Osulloc green tea satchets, green tea powder and green tea spread! Also a tip to check out level 2 for more seats with nice decor as well!

Dinner @ Top Cloud

I know I mentioned Kim and Kim was my favourite dinner – that’s in terms of taste – but for ambience, Top Cloud’s the top choice. High up on a building – with live band music in the background, beautiful city skyline in the night, a discerning crowd, enjoyable company – and have I mentioned a really cute waitery(?!! Sorry no photos but he looks like a skinny version of Hyun Bin) Top Cloud is the place to bring your date. enjoy the time there and make beautiful memories together. 🙂

Back to Singapore!

I wasn’t planning to get up earlier for gym but a very kind friend *coughs* reminded me the night before so I kept to my promise and got up early on Sunday, pulled my weary self and went down to gym and pretty much walked and jogged for the 15 min there. Is it weird that I really enjoyed or came to appreciate my view at the gym? Like every morning I’d wake up and watch people stroll and walk to work (my room view is the same as the gym’s). And well, on Sundays there weren’t any but it just made me reflect – it’s funny how easily humans can become attached to things and surroundings. 🙂

Joyce left a bag in the room so we sneaked a pic while waiting for her before we went down to catch our mini van. 🙂 We missed a picture with my super friendly and helpful Ajusshi driver – he, along with Heather our tour guide and interpreter (far left below!) – they are the epitome of taking pride in their work – so joyful and professional – and it’s such a pleasure to be in their presence. 🙂last-day-check-out-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalistah-campina-watch-review-enabalista1-jpg-best-of-seoul-korea-food-and-culture-enabalista_0002

Heyri Art Village

For our last cultural spot we checked out Heyri Art Village – which would be a great family spot – dads can chill at cafe (if they don’t want to join the kids – and mums and children can visit the children’s fairytale museums and exhibitions. Well, we spotted an “Erotic art” museum so i guess that’s for adults only? HAHA. Seriously though,  I think this is a great place to enjoy lunch, cafe hope, check out the museum and the flowers here are very pretty too. 🙂

Lunch @ Chaesundang

Chaesundang was my favourite lunch spot while in Korea – the seafood was SO FRESH and the seafood porridge was REALLY good, as you can probably tell I tried to control myself but I still ate a lot and gained about 2 kg during the trip. #NoRegrets though! HAHAHA.

We had a very easy and smooth process of getting our tax refunds – i had about 8,000 won back which was more than enough for a cup of green tea latte and melon ice cream at Paris Baguette –  I wanted to chill so I missed out on last minute duty free shopping at Korea which stocks all your popular Korean skincare and makeup brands like Laneige, Sulwhasoo and Hera, to name a few!

Kapten & Son; for the adventurers and global citizens

How we dress is a way of self-expression and how we want others to perceive us. I’ve always worn a watch since I started going to school and I’ve always picked watches that express who I am. When I was younger, pink and white were colours of choice, they were colourful, cute and fun. But as I grew older, I gravitated to black colour as it’s not only easy to match but suitable for all occasions, totally practical. However recently I’ve taken a strong liking to rose gold as it’s not only a lovely but trending and fashionable colour.

My recent favourite watch of choice is from Kapten & Son’s in Campina with a Mesh band, black face and in rose gold colour. I love how the brand is designed for the adventurers and global citizens, folks who revel in freedom and enjoy travelling.  I also love how my watch is perfect for work appointments but also looks chic for casual events.

Grab your Kapten & Son watch of choice on their website here.

10 Practical Advice If You’re 26 and Single (like me)

It’s been a while since I blogged about something personal… 1 year and coming 10 months, to be exact. HA. And yes, if you’re reading this, you probably came because you’ve read the title and clicked – and yes, I will get to that. But before I do, a little back story is in order.  (Or you can skip and go straight to the main content below.) Why I say 1 year and 10 months, is because back in January 2015, I wrote this article <9 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Be The Third Party In A Relationship>. And if you’re lazy to read it, the TL;DR version reads: it won’t end well. And the funny thing is, this article has recently been attracting a lot of views, like consistently 20-30+ page views a day, so much so that I was intrigued and then I found out… If you google “third party relationship advice” my blog article comes out top. Not second, not third, but freaking number 1. Case in point:

screen-shot-2016-10-27-at-1-23-09-am

No kidding.

And a blogger friend (hi Tay ying!)  recently commented in a group chat how she was casually reading our blogs and she came across that post and how it was really good. And occasionally I go back to read the article and am also quite impressed (#noshame) how I actually formulated all of that post in one seating,  with no prior planning. I guess that’s why they say experience is King because that’s really all you need to actually give credible advice. And so, this recent development of that post really got me thinking – people are searching for relationship/life advice, and I do have a knack in giving them – even if I’ve never had a proper/official relationship and am single right now. And looking back, I was really frustrated with why I was “attracting” all of these attached guys when I just wanted to date a single guy and be in a proper relationship. And it really just dawned on me as I was reflecting / mentally preparing for this post earlier that maybe God intended for me to experience all of those frustrations (nonsense, really) so that I could craft that sincere and heartfelt message and that it would impact 8355 people who viewed the article, as of writing. To give you an idea of how many people 8355 is, it would seat 1.5x of The Star Auditorium which houses only 5000 seats. Additionally, in my recent conversation with a friend (Hi Larry!), I also realized that even though I’m single; I’m not apologetic for that, I’m happy being single. Even without being attached, I’ve had my fair share of dating experiences to share with both guys and girls alike on how to be happily single but still be open to relationships. And that’s what this post is about.

Ok, that was a long introduction, now let’s just dive straight into this post’s main content proper!

10 Practical Advice If You’re 26 and Single (like me)

1cd66c51aa54d1b946c7e86a995b0496

1.Face up to reality.
Let’s face it, at 26 years old, we’re no longer young, wide-eyed and innocent – as much as we might want to be. For girls, you’ve probably starting working full time at least a good 3 years and for guys, at least 1+ year. Some of my peers who had kids at 21 years old, their baby is no longer a baby, but a fully grown, walking 5 year old kindergarten-going child ,some even already had their 2nd and/or planning/expecting their second. (I know, at this point, you might be wondering what we’re doing with our lives, huh). I realized that before 25, to have a friend who’s married or pregnant really was the minority and a huge Whatsapp chat topic – but past 25, it begins to be a norm. “Oh another one” is what I think when I see another wedding announcement on Facebook, and no longer Whatsapp hot topic worthy. SO, to say that “Aiya, I’m still young.” ain’t that true anymore, we really could be parents at this age. But the silver lining is that we’ve only passed the mid 20s – we’re still 4 years shy before we hit the big 3. So yes, we’ve got time, but now ain’t the time to be shy – if you’re single, you shouldn’t be desperate to be married (really) but you should start to be concerned especially if marriage is something you’re planning for – because you know, finding the right person and dating is required before marriage, right?

2.Be open to meeting new people of the opposite gender in your life – and actually show interest.
I know this sounds like a freaking “duh” statement. But you know how some people are so absorbed with the issue/problem at hand that they don’t see anything else? If you’ve been single all your life and you’ve never or really rarely go on dates, how do you expect yourself to be attached if you let your life just remain status quo? People you’ve known all your life should/would have asked you out if they were keen. It’s true that it’s hard to make close friends with old friends. Please don’t tell me that you expect God to drop you The One from the skies. Or that you hope to knock into him/her on the way to work (speaking of which, there’s this dating app Happn (not linking them cause this is not a sponsored post, lol – but if you find The One from said app, please come back and report). BUT the probability of those are low to non-existent, so please don’t bank on them. Whether it’s joining and attending a cell group in church, volunteering for a charity or the Resident’s Committee (RC) in your neighbourhood, picking up a new hobby like taking up guitar or dance classes – you’ve got to put yourself out there, and why not choose to also spend your time meaningfully while at it? And the “actually show interest” part – I’ve got to address the girls and guys separately for this one. Girls, guys can be really quite dense and/or shy – so if you like him, and in any of the setting I’ve described above (cell group, volunteer work, classes) there WILL be opportunities where you can send a smile/sweet/tissues his way. I’m not saying that you should buy a bag of sweets and store packs of tissues in your bag and start giving them out to all the potential bfs you meet – but if you’re really interested in the guy, you’ve got to actually interact with him, so he can 1. realize that you exist 2. feel your presence 3. have the chance to talk to you, to get to know you better. Now for the guys – Guys, girls are supposedly the more sensitive gender, I know. But girls can also be very shy – and rightly so, especially when it comes to the guy they actually like. So try to engage conversation with the girl in a group setting where possible, to break the ice and if she shows positive interest, then take and continue the conversation to a private setting.

3.Know your worth.
I know this sounds like it’s more for the girls – but it’s really for both girls and guys. It’s easy to tell the girls/easier for girls to relate about knowing your worth because we tend to think that girls are more insecure and less assertive. But the truth is that insecurity hits both genders, isn’t it?

For the girls, I want you to know that you’re a woman of value – God thinks so and your parents think so. If you don’t realize and acknowledge your own worth, you can’t make others realize that  – and when they don’t, they will not value you. Hence it’s important that you first know your worth – and act like it. What is your worth, you ask? It’s your time, your words (speech, texts, messages), your actions, your body. Everything that’s got to do with you – it doesn’t define you, but rather you define your worth. It’s when you know you are a woman of value that you behave like it, and everything about you becomes valuable and precious – people want to spend time with you, they want to hear you speak, they appreciate your actions and your being/existence. Humans love what’s limited edition and exclusive – it’s a lie that the world tells when it tells you to give in easily because “true love” is about passion and physical expression – let me lay it down for you, it’s not. Love is more than words, actions and physical touch – it’s about being committed – it’s a conscious decision to remain loyal to another, despite time and aging, all odds and temptations, which WILL come.

If you’re the type that always responds to a late night date/ rendezvous after one message or call and finds it hard to be attached – it’s because people don’t appreciate you. I’m NOT saying you should play hard to get. But if you’re always readily available at 26 when one naturally has to balance work, family and friends, people might think maybe you’re just too free (read: your time is not very valuable, it’s easy to date you out.) Hence, you’ve got to explain to them that you don’t do things and spend time with just anyone – you’re making time, only because and for him/her – then they will start to see you in a different light and treat you better, try it.

For guys, if you’re 26, maybe you’re not anxious – because you’re focused on your career. BUT if you’re actively looking and getting anxious – let me explain that girls always fall for the cool guy. If you’re chatting/WApping this cute girl and she friendzoned you or if you asked a girl out and she rejected you, pls don’t swear off all girls and vow to never speak to said girl again. Firstly, you’ve got to know your worth as a man – nothing oozes more confidence than a man (same for girls) who is confident in his own skin, really.  Know that if a girl rejects you, it’s nothing personal. It’s the same if you got rejected for the job, it’s just not a good fit, nothing’s wrong with you. BUT there are ways to make yourself shine – if you know what the girl likes/sees in a partner, find ways to highlight your strengths to her so that she can see those traits in you. Know that if you’ve tried asking the girl you liked out (and hopefully gone on dates with her), it’s all that matters, at least you’ve tried! She’s not the only girl in the world, if she passes you on, know that you’ve got a better girl coming your way (don’t trust me on this, trust yourself on this!). And here’s a piece of more radical (not for the fainthearted) advice – most girls can be won with perseverance – the truth is guys these days give up too easily (you can quote me on this). IF you legit like this girl, and you think that here’s no one but her for you, without bordering on being a psycho/stalker/harassing her, there are ways to continue to show interest as friends until the day when she is finally touched and you’ll have won her heart. I can’t give you exact details or tips on this, but I’m pretty sure there’s a part of the internet that will expound on this topic – found it, it’s here (caveat: I only skimmed through it, but trust that it will be helpful).

4.Don’t settle.
Which leads me to this topic, if you know your worth, you won’t settle. We settle for something/someone when we worry that we won’t find something/someone better. Because we feel we are not good enough. But please, don’t settle. I’d rather be single in life than to be attached and have to seat through dinner with someone I have no feelings for (I’d rather be watching drama at home). Don’t, don’t settle. I recently met a friend who broke up with her bf of 9 years (they were slated to marry next year when their BTO is ready). But because she couldn’t foresee a future with then bf, she initiated the breakup. The good news is that she’s now happily attached to someone new. Don’t take my word for it and break up for the sake of breaking up – what I’m saying is, you determine your decisions, consequences and life. So take charge of your life, take charge of your relationships, take charge of your life and don’t settle.

5.Be ready for the one.
So many times we hear people saying “when will I meet Mr/Ms Right?” but have you every stopped to ponder if you will be that Mr/Ms Right for that someone? Well, I have and that’s why I’ve intentionally chose not to rush into relationship. The best “record” I’ve had was having a “friend” asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend after a grand time of one week when I was 16. Spoiler: I said no. And yes, he scared me away. And also, he threatened to jump down the building when I wanted to stop a phone conversation with him the day before Chinese O levels – I was so scared, I continued that conversation for over an hour. Looking back, it certainly wasn’t fun then, but now it brings me and my bff much laughter. And since him, suicide threats by guys have no effect on me. “You want to commit suicide? You’re kidding me.” Digressing aside, perhaps at this age we are already emotionally and mentally mature (I certainly hope you are) to be in a committed relationship sans drama and suicidal threats. Maybe you’ve got a bad temper or a bad habit, now’s a good time to work on it before meeting Mr/Ms Right. That said, ultimately, we got to know that we’re not perfect – so we’re not going to find Mr/Ms Perfect, but we can still be the right one for that right person. 🙂

6.Have a check/prayer list.
This might be debatable, but I subscribe to it and let me explain why. Like finding a house, you need to know what to look out for before house viewing and then signing the contract. If you have NO IDEA what to look for, then you may never know where to start looking, never find a place or the right one. (Unless you end up in an arranged marriage, it’s like moving in a house your parents bought for you, I guess.) And like buying a house – there is no perfect house. But if you can find someone that matches 70% of what you look for, it’s a green light! Also, if you have no idea what to look for, you won’t even know it if your Mr/Ms Right walks right by you! But if you do, it opens your eyes to know if someone potential is near you as he/she will check the boxes on your list!  It’s also helpful to pray about the list you might have – like, “dear God, I hope my significant other (SO) is good with managing finances because I’m bad at it.” – not only because God hears our prayers, but also because what our mind asks for, we receive. My friend Su once said, after salvation prayer, our prayer for our SO is the second most important decision in our life, because the person will be the one whom we will spend the rest of our life with. Also, pray for favour! That when others see you, they will naturally like you. 🙂

7.Go on dates.
And yes I mean it – try Tinder, OKCupid, CoffeeMeetsBagel – because, why not? Fun fact: I tried Tinder and OKCupid for the first time in March this year. I deleted both within 3 weeks. Went on 1 date from Tinder who picked me up in a Maserati (dude got married in June, LOL, obviously he wasn’t single in March, tsk), 5 dates from OKCupid and still friends (good friends in fact) with 1 guy. If it’s your first time trying online dating apps – it may be a little overwhelming and definitely time consuming. Tips: fill in your profile with nice photos of yourself and a descriptive profile (get a friend to help if need). For girls, go ahead and ignore, block and delete all sexual related messages. OKCupid is a lot more specific in match pairing then Tinder (swipe left or right). I have a friend who met her fiance on OKCupid and they’re getting married next March, so dating apps definitely work. I’m not recommending dating apps because I think you will definitely find your happily ever after there – but rather I think it’s an effective way of matching busy working adults who have no other avenues of meeting new people if they are too busy for social activities. And also, I think it’s a great way to figure out who you are (if you haven’t already realized this) and what you’re looking for in your SO. Also, the motivation of looking for a SO on these apps can be both a boon and a bane – on one hand, singles are motivated to find someone, which is great. But on the other hand, it might be a challenge to develop a strong friendship (which I think is really important) before jumping into a relationship. For girls, please practice safety and always be the one to decide a safe place and time to meet up with a guy – brunch, lunch. tea time coffee sessions are recommended – avoid night time and alcohol lest said guy becomes frisky and you have a hard time getting away.

8.Read up about dating, relationships and pick up helpful life skills (where time allows, lol).
So much talk about finding Mr/Ms Right and being Mr/Ms Right, there are practical ways to improve and becoming more of a Mr/Ms Right. I’m starting to feel that a guy is really attractive when he shows traits of potentially being a good husband and father, like leadership skills and being good with kids. In the same way, I reckon a guy who wants to settle down and have a family, would look for a girl who enjoys spending time with her family and likes kids. Although my cooking skills are very basic, I’m pretty sure cooking skills are much appreciated, both from guys and girls. So don’t fret if you’re single! Instead of whining and worrying, start investing your time to pick up life skills like doing house chores, cooking and taking care of kids (practise with other people’s kids, LOL). While you’re at it, it doesn’t harm to post about your experiences on FB, maybe your potential SO will notice these positive traits/posts and initiate conversation naturally. 😉

9.Talk to friends from both genders and learn from their experiences.
Again, this might seem like a very “duh” thing again. But either we’re too shy about asking for relationship advice or we don’t have the habit to ask about this kind of personal stuff. (Or maybe it’s just me, I stick to my very small social circle of super close friends that I share my personal life with, lol) The thing is, you’ll be surprised by how much people are willing to share over coffee/meal! It’s good to speak to friends from all spectrum; single, attached, married and just pick up and KIV tips as and where relevant. And also, it’s good to ask for relationship tips from a platonic friend of the opposite gender who will shed insights that a friend of the same gender doesn’t have/can’t give! 😉

10.RELAX and just be yourself.
There’s a phrase that goes “Love comes to those who least expect it. For those of you still waiting, just be a little more patient.” There’s nothing more attractive than a person who’s comfortable in his/her skin doing what he/she’s best at. So continue to work hard in your career and give your best in the things you do and do what you do best – you’re bound to attract your special someone your way! 😉

In case you’re wondering, yes I am single and available. Recently I’ve been texting and went on dinners with a particular guy which I have positive feelings for – not gonna share more on this cause it’s private and will just let nature that it’s course. As to why I’m still single, well in a nutshell, just haven’t met the right guy – maybe I have now, but I’m really not sure about that at this stage… I prefer guys who take the initiative. Thanks for reading the post, just sharing from the heart… hope it’s been helpful! 🙂

It’s been a desire of mine to upgrade my public speaking skills this year. So it couldn’t have been more apt when Nuffnang offered me the opportunity to attend a course by Speech Academy Asia along with 7 other influencers, where we learnt and honed our skills in public speaking, hosting and interviewing!

Growing up, I’ve had the chance to host school wide events such as National Day or Chinese New Year events. My most recent stint was hosting for Jeunesse Singapore’s launch in Suntec before a 1000 strong crowd. However I have never been professionally trained apart from the rehearsals and pronunciation checks by school teachers. So to be able to pick up practical tips like; standing with your feet firmly planted on the ground, watching your posture, pausing to think before speaking spontaneously and thus minimizing mistakes and superfluous words, engaging the audience has been invaluable – these tips and advice coupled with practice with peers within the classroom setting has greatly increased my confidence and skills for future public speaking opportunities. I know that I am now prepared for gigs when the opportunities arise! 🙂

Special shoutout and thanks to Shawn and Matthew for arranging, teaching and coaching us – your presence, advice and tips will go with us a long, long way. I hope we will be students that will do you proud.

If you’d like to improve your confidence and communication skills, I highly recommend Speech Academy Asia. They are currently offering $700 (Official launch at $1200) for their SLP Club Membership (Speech Linguistics Programming) that has a complimentary 12 unique sessions of confidence building, life skills, communication skills, public speaking etc during this post-soft launch. Each session comprises of 3.5 hours, once a month. For $700, you will be receiving training throughout one year. There will be more exciting programs coming up in the next few months which the members will be able to enjoy discounts! Visit their FB page for more information!

Thank you Nuffnang & Speech Academy Asia for the opportunity to develop my public speaking skills! ❤️
