A while back, I had the chance to have my hand in dessert art making under the demonstration and teaching of pastry chef Jasmin at Stellar at 1 Altitude located at One Raffles Place. It was such a pleasure and enjoyable experience to make the beautiful and delicious desserts and to be able to taste them later! We had fun making or designing rather, a platter of desserts, two of which featuring Stellar’s best loved desserts Creme Brulee and Fireball – these are sooo good. The Creme Brulee is coated with a layer of crispy caramel and is soft inside. The Fireball is presented with a coat of fire and is a ball of chocolate goodness! Always love the beautiful city scene from the top of One Raffles Place! Notes to bring home for the dessert making process.Most parts of the dessert platter was pre-made, we learnt how to design them on the platter and complete with finish touches. Head chef of Stellar at 1-Altitude popped by to say hi.Just some of the tools, ingredients we used and our drinks. Chef Jasmin showing us how she designs the plate with edible gold liquid. And her very artistically designed and plated desserts. Completely looks like a calligraphy artwork! Chef Jasmin must be very good at calligraphy.Ā Love the beautiful night scene in the background as Chef works on the dessert art. The complete look. It’s not going to be easy to duplicate this edible art piece! We try…. hahahah. It was amazing and fun to play and paint with the edible gold liquid. We also had fun putting the edible flowers on the dessert. Our table’s completed platter. Not bad right? š One more city scape for the night. A few weeks back, I travelled to Genting with a group of bloggers and friends. Although we didn’t know each other (except for our plus ones of course), we got to know each other better through the trip and had a blast! We had so much fun that by the end of the trip, I really didn’t want it to end~
There’s going to be so many exciting developments taking place in Genting! A new premium outlet mall is slated to open in mid 2016.Ā 20th Century Fox Theme Park which will be completed in phases, will open by theĀ end 2016. And that’s not it! There’ll also be a Sky Avenue Mall, Sky Plaza & a new cable car system which will connect First World Hotel & the new premium outlet mall. Which only means we totally have to go and check it out when they’re open!!!Ā By then, spending 1 weekend at Genting will not be enough, you’ll need at least 3 days or more. In the meanwhile, read on and find out what we did during our recent trip, so you can get some ideas if you’re planning to head down soon!
The bloggers and I headed to Genting via coach. We met up at Boon Lay shopping centre for the coach ride: There are a few coach providers, we travelled with The One. I must say that their buses (to and fro) and bus drivers were very good, so I would recommend them. Bus tickets are about S$80-90 for round trip. We took the night coach which departed at 10pm and we reached Genting around 4.30am.
We were welcomed by the RWGenting team when we reached Genting and were directed to our hotel rooms at the newest wing, aka Tower 3, XYZ deluxe rooms. Here’s how the lobby looks like! Tower 3 lobby. Terminal 2 cafe located at the ground floor of Tower 3.Plenty of seating spaces at Tower 3 lobby. I like the modern graphic interior design & use of fresh colours.Ā Even more spaces, yes it’s a huge lobby, but even then I think it’s still not as big as the main First World Hotel lobby. Automatic check out stations.Our rooms are located on the 25th floor. Even though there are 6 lifts, it still takes a long time (15min) for the lift to reach our floor especially during peak hours from 10-11am, which is around check out timing. So plan your time in advance to give allowance for the lifts. šOur XYZ Deluxe Room! I like the modern, simple yet chic interior design and the comfy bed & linens. However there’s no wifi in the rooms. A quick check with the RWGenting team reveals that they have already feedback to the management but it is still not confirmed if and when wifi will be provided in the rooms. If you need wifi, it is available at the lobby, as well as at cafes like Starbucks & The Bakery. You should also bring your own toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo) as they are not provided for. Should you forget, you can also buy from stores like Watsons nearby.After a few more hours of rest, we got ready for our brunch! Here’s the morning view from our #25 floor lift lobby. We started our day with brunch at Coffee Terrace, for their lunch buffet. We were allowed in earlier than the public crowd (yay to media perks!).
At the Coffee Terrace, you can savour dishes from the Local, Flavors of Malaysia, Chinese, Western, Japanese & Western Asian counters (Last two counters opens only for dinners). There are also very good varieties of appetizer, salads and desserts on the buffet spread.
The delicious spread of food on our bloggers table! We decided that we will each take food from the various counters and combine them on the table. ThisĀ fantastic idea was suggested by Chiu Yen, who has a lot of buffet experience! Most of us were full from this spread, we didn’t have to go for round 2… Well, only except to get ice cream!:Ice cream and sorbets in chocolate,Ā raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, orange and lemon flavours. It’s hard to decide, but my favorites are the lemon & blueberry flavours. Buffet dining with a view!Love what you see at the Coffee Terrace buffet spread? š The quality & variety of food is great and definitely value for money. Ā I personally really like the local food, char kway teow, chicken rice and the desserts are nice too. I’d recommend this spot for buffet lunch if you’re visiting Genting!

After a very hearty lunch buffet, we headed to Chin Swee Caves Temple. The Chin Swee Caves Temple is situated in the most scenic site of Genting Highlands. Even if you are not a devotee, like myself, you will still enjoy this cultural experience.Ā Within the temple is the statue of Reverend Master Chin Swee, who is also referred to as a deity in Fujian Province for his supernatural abilities to summon rain and drive away evil spirits. Located 4,600 feet above sea level, the temple is about 5-10 minutes drive down from the peak of the mountain. The temple attracts many local and foreign devotees as well as tourists.

Ā The story goes that the Genting Group founder Tan Sri Dato Seri (Dr) Lim Goh Tong had a dream while visiting the area and Reverend Master Chin Swee aka Chin Swee Deity appeared in his dream and blessed him, so Dato Lim donated this plot of land and built the Chin Swee Temple. Also, the face of Deity Chin Swee is black because he fought the evil spirits and escaped but resulted with a black face.Ā The temple’s relief wall and pillar art works are very beautiful and intricate. I checked with the hosting team that it’s not rude to be doing jumpshots here. š Not quite sure why I was laughing so hard! š Beautiful environment on and around the temple grounds.Then we embarked on the route towards “Journey to Enlightenment” which is a rather similar experience to the local Singapore Haw Par Villa. Our guide explains that the journey is like a walk through hell followed by heaven. This is the “registration booth”, the beginning of the 18 levels of hell. The statues torturing people are actually very very graphic, vivid and grotesque so I will spare all of my lovely readers and not post them on my blog. Well, actually I didn’t even want the photos on my camera, so I didn’t take photos of them, hahaha. I respect the buddhist religion and teachings, but I sure am glad that I believe in Jesus and I know that I am spared from hell! š This is the part of the journey where people drink Meng Po Soup to forget their past life and head towards reincarnation – their next life.
There are many scenic spots along the journey. Doesn’t it look like I’m on a forest trek? šAgain withĀ the group! ^^ Infront of another Sky Terrace arch. That’s how the #7Heavenbloggers came about! Cause we went through hell and emerged to heaven. Hahaha!!! Together with some of the Malaysian bloggers. š
After the temple visit, we headed back to First World hotel for Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem! We were early, so we settled down, finished our water from these cute bottles and did some IG postings while waiting for the show to start. ^^ I won’t give a blow by blow account of what goes down in the show,Ā I’ll just share some of the exciting parts! The show starts with a dance and there will be many along the way. As the title of the show goes, it’s a Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem, so you never really know what to expect and there are many surprises along the way. So it’s exciting to seat, watch and wonder what isĀ the next crazy thing to expect! Crazy things like this magic act of swopping out the dancer in the plastic wrappings to the little boy from the audience. You can watch the snippet in my video which I will embed at the end of this post!And crazy acts like Ed Alonzo disappearing from the stage and immediately reappearing in the middle of the audience, which is the exact Ā row where I/we were seated!! And this part was particularly hilarious, Alonzo got a man from the audience and proceeded to burst balloons located all around him. He used a knife to burst the last balloon below his crotch!
We also watched Loughron James Stephen Leslie, a contortionist who also swallow swords from Austrialia, doing BOTH at the same time. CRAZYYY I TELL YOU.Ā We also watched Ed Alonzo in many outfit changes and performing many magic acts with animals, in this case with rabbits. There was also a bird and a very cute dog.There’s alsoĀ Toru Sato from Japan eating & playing with fire – he definitely didn’t listen, or his mother never told him to “not play with fire”! šĀ With Ed Alonzo, the lovely dancers & Sato. After dinner, we headed to First World Plaza for some shopping!The First World Plaza has got to be the coolest, if not highestĀ (like literally, hahaha) shopping destination in Malaysia. There are more than 40 Retail and 25 F&B outlets plus attractions for all ages! After shopping & chilling at Starbucks, we headed back to our hotel room to drop our stuff before heading out again to check out the Casino! (No photos allowed in the Casino)
It was my first time to a Casino on land (cause I went to the cruise one before, but that was just to check out my friend’s grandma and speak to her momentarily before we went elsewhere) and at the Genting casino, it was really crazy watching all the money that the gamblers were putting on the tables and the dealers counting the notes and stuffing them into the table, by the thousands(!). I mean, ok, I must sound like a sua ku (mountain turtle, lol) but it was eye opening for me ok? š For more information about Genting Casinos, check out here. I don’t recommend nor endorse gambling, unless you have a lot of money to burn. š

Porridge, salad, carbs, beans, ham & eggs! <3
After breakfast, we headed to the last and final stop of our trip, the ITALGElato ice cream shop! ITALGElato Head Chef and mini stick ice cream.
ITALGElatoĀ is Resorts World Genting’s in house original gelato brand, which makes them the only resort with such a claim. Edward Holloway, the resort’s Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations first came up with the idea of the resort’s own ice cream brand. It started as his team and him were brainstorming concepts for the new theme park and researching how to achieve a perfect Italian gelato in Malaysia. The innovation team then dived into the processes and came up with ITALGElato. The first stall was started for fun during the school holidays and they now have 4 stores and growing. The booth we visited is at Genting First World Lobby area. There are 21 flavours available.I love the red velvet flavour, it’s tastes like the red velvet cake but in ice cream. šThe must try signature flavours are Dark Chocolate & Orange Cheese Cake. Their Mango flavour is made with the best grade Alfonzo mangoes and I am not a major mango fan (don’t love it, neither do I hate it) but this tastes great! Ice creams are sold at RM9.50 for one flavour, RM19 for two flavours, RM28.50 for three flavours and RM38.00 for four flavours. The Stick Ice Cream come in 5 flavours, lemon, hazelnut, pistachio, strawberry and Gianduja (Chocolate and hazelnut), priced at RM9.50 for sticks and RM7.50 for minou (smaller sticks). These special sticks have jam inside! I love these.Chef demonstrated how to coat the sticks with coloured sugar & decorate them. And we all had a chance to try!Here are our creations! It was thrilling and exciting to be able to step into the shop to have our hand at the sugar coating process and to be able to see our creations in the store’s fridge. ^^ With our creations!And more ice creams! (Did not actually eat this, was too full hahaha.)Mini ice creams are my favourite! I like these as you can try many different flavours. 8 pieces at RM 20 and 12 pieces at RM 26.Children’s favourite! Cool, huh! I may be wrong as I don’t come from an architectural and design background, but I do feel that the Cosentino is like the Hermes brand in the architecture world. Ā I say this because Cosentino reminds me of the private high fashion brand Hermes as both are privately owned and both have such high levels of excellence in their products. Also, beyond just marketing their products, they create such wonderful environments and also give back to society through sponsorship of artistic collaborations. In essence, brands like them inspire me! Cosentino City’s Kitchen Showroom, is a fully functioning kitchen where cooking classes are also held at. The entire space in addition to being a showroom, is also a space for events. Cosentino City’s show room with discussion & lounge space. Sleek display channels integrated into the table and on screen with various tiles / surfaces. This is where Cosentino team present ideas and visual application of solutions to partners and clients. We didn’t actually see an actual presentation but I’m sure the presentations are cool, heh! The restroom at Cosentino City is a welcomed space with the sleek design.
And we also indulged a little with a variety of Spanish food (love the link to their Spanish roots here!) from My Little Spanish Place. Although I have not Ā been to Spain before, so I can’t tell if the food is authentic but it sure does tastes amazing and I would love to visit the restaurant soon! Have I mentioned that I LOVE olives? A while back I feasted at Caffe B’s at Marina Bay Sands and today I’d like to share about this gem with you! š
Located at Marina Bay Sands #B1-15/01-83, Caffe B is a mixed Japanese and Western fusion restaurant and bar. It’s a place that’s definitely under the radar despite its lovely ambience and food. So I recommend you checking it out the next time you’re visiting MBS.Ā Ā
The amazing thing about their Set Lunch is that it’s so affordably priced at $25+ despite the posh location and delicious food. It’s a deal you definitely want to take advantage of! Diners get to pick one each; between 2 starters, from 4 main courses and dessert comes in onlyĀ 1 item. For the food tasting we got to try all of the items on the menu! Also, as it’s a media tasting, we got tasting portions for the main course (else we could not possibly try every dish) so if you’re visiting, be assured that the portions are much bigger than what you see here! š
The interior decor reminds me of classical roman mixed with modernĀ western design.

For desserts, we ended with Trio Profiteroles, filled with Matcha, Red Bean and Chocolate Cream which is a nice touch that reminds us of Caffe B’s Japanese influence.

In case you haven’t heard or tried Food Panda before, you’ll be glad to know about them now! Food Panda is an awesome online/mobile service where you can order from an array of restaurants that provide delivery to your local address based on your postcode.
You can order to your home, office, friend’s home or wherever life/work takes you to, as long as the location is recognised and food is deliverable there (don’t blame me if your location is too obscure! :p).
Based on the postcode you input, Food Panda will show you the list of restaurants nearby which will deliver to your choice of location. From my place, there’s a whole list of 42 restaurants, impressive!
And the best part is, you can order in advance so your meal is delivered during your meal time! Awesome isn’t it?
I decided on Hui Wei, which is a Tze-Char (stir fried) place which has 3.5stars based on 143 ratings. Ā Thanks to my sister Jia Hui for doing her research (I outsourced this task to her, hehe) and she decided on these few delicious dishes!

With this, you can save time on preparing your meal, you can even get your guests to look through the menu and order dishes to suit their liking and enjoy the meal in the comfort of your own home / private location~ ! The only downside is the minimum $50 order (for Hui Wei) for delivery, however if you’re ordering for a party of 8 or more, this won’t be an issue. š

For the first dinner celebration, we went to Ah Yat, which is famous for their delicious and tender Abalone! We went to the Bugis/Hotel Grand Pacific branch. I only took like the first few dishes and I think I was too busy eating to capture the rest, hahaha!

For dinner round 2, we went to Teochew Traditional Seafood Restaurant, at my dad’s friend’s recommendation and treat! He was raving about it (during dinner 1) and it really didn’t disappoint! The only downside is it’s quite inconvenient if you don’t drive. I thought I could walk from Paya Lebar and I walked REALLY FAR. I was quite amazed at how far I walked. Better to cab in! Anyhoos, this restaurant supposedly use Shark’s bones to cook the soup base so its really yummy. I won’t oversell the soup, so you won’t go with damn high expectations. Just go with an open mind and enjoy the good food!

I had the sweet privilege to enjoy this yummy Collagen Hot Pot twice, the first time with a few bloggers at the Soup Spoon Suntec store and the second time, I enjoyed it with my family… It was such a delight to enjoy the yummy collagen soup base which was thick and yummy, and sweet with all the vegetables and cordyceps chicken! I definitely think that this Collagen Hot Pot is super value for money. It’s meant for 5-6 persons but if you prepare additional rice/noodles, soup stock and ingredients, you can definitely host up to 10 people, or have 2 rounds of dinner with the recommended 5-6pax. My next favourite is theirĀ Passion Fruit Cheese Cake which is sweet, citrusy with a tinge of cheese. Chocolate lovers can find delight in their Red Cherry & Mexican Cocoa Cake as well as their decadent Rum infused Chocolate & Banana Cake. As you should know by now, I’m a big fan of Japanese pasta. Many months back (ahem), my Kose girlfriends and I went to NEX for some delicious pasta at Kabe no Ana, which is famous for their Mentaiko Pasta – which is one of favourite!!! Just like my recent recommendation of Miam Miam, this is a place that I would go back again and I enjoyed my time and food there with my lovely friends.
I don’t want to sound like a broken recorder, but I still have so many unpublished photos and material for my blog that it will take me more than 2 months to publish them, (assuming) if I were to diligently update my blog daily. Yeap, that’s material for more than 60 posts. However with my work as a real estate agent, attending current blogger events and not forgetting my obsession with Korean dramas, I don’t have the luxury of time to publish all of the materials, some of which are frankly outdated now, lol! Nonetheless I will be publishing some of the older photos and materials over the course of the next few months, so indulge me! š After I clear off the back log, my plan for this year is to streamline the content for my blog this year, so focus on quality instead of quantity. As fashion blogger Nicole Warne of GaryPepperGirl puts it, “It’s the work that you decline that also defines you.” Beginning from mid last year, I’ve been more intentional in the contentĀ that I publish on my blog, and moving along, I will be even more selective.
So for the record, I visited Miam Miam at BugisĀ Junction#02-14 many months back in May 2014 with blogger friend Clarabel for dinner and even though so many months have passed, looking at these photos remind me that I loved it. The pasta/noodles serving were very generous, thankfully I was hungry (Clarabel is blessed with high metabolism rate, always hungry and eating but still slim!) and we both loved the Molten Lava cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. I haven’t been back since but it’s a place I recommend and would definitely go back. The store is located in the atrium area of level 2 but still provides sufficient ambience with its rustic country decor for a cosy dinner. Ideal for both group and couple dates. They have a French Japanese fusion concept and at $15-$20 person for meals.

Ā We really enjoyed the Soda Spa Scalp treatment which is a “treatment that uses carbonated water and also Soda Spa Foam to flush carbon dioxide through the scalp and skin, carrying away waste in the body. At Nana’s Green Tea, we had a sumptous lunch and I was super happy with my Locomoco Hamburg set and the Green Parfait with the Green Tea ice cream is divine!

My yummilicious Locomoco Hamburg set! I really love how juicy the meat is and the sauce was just the right bit spicy with tomato. The egg is also slightly runny and perfect. I would most definitely go back to this again!

With the Green Tea Parfait which is superb with the whip cream, green tea ice cream, red beans, mochis and corn flakes. It’s a sweet tooth’s dream come true. Best to share with a friend because it’s sinful to indulge in this all alone, hahaha!

A while back Clozette hosted a tea party for Clozette ambassadors and it was a good time meeting and catching up with fellow Clozette ambassadors. If you haven’t read my previous posts about Clozette, just know that I will visit the site almost daily to see a consolidated updates by fellow fashion and beauty enthusiasts – I am currently following about 100 fashion and beauty influencers, mostly Clozette Ambassadors and Star Clozetters in Singapore and Asia who have fabulous updates. The tea party was a blast and time flies when you’re having fun. We had a delicious array of finger food and tea in a cafe decked out in cute Alice in Wonderland theme and lots of cute pink balloons! We made pink ribbons to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness for the month of October and we also filmed a video to share our love for Clozette. After the event, Vinna, Fenny & I took time to take ootd shots at places nearby. Saturdays should be like this!
A few months back, I completed a survey for Expat Living magazine and was kindly gifted a pair of tickets for Pan Pac’s The Edge’s Sunday Champagne brunch. So I invited my sister to come a long with me and it was such an unforgettable meal! We had so much fun indulging in wagyu beef, salmon sashimi, pork sausages, iberco ham and of course an unlimited amount of Veuve Cliquot champagne. Ā Guests can also order a limited offering of red wine and shiraz as part of the buffet. My personal favourites would be the wagyu beef and fine du claire fresh raw oysters. The buffet spread is very comprehensive to say the least and I would highly recommend this place for fine dining and champagne lovers. Ā Tickets are at $168++ per pax. There’s a package where 2 guests get a bed, brunch & bliss staycation with a late check out on Sunday at 5pm for $525 for 2. Perfect for a special occasion!
