Foot Care for Smooth Feet

Hi Loves!

Today I’m sharing about a part of our body that I feel is a little neglected, unloved… Our feet! Well, or is it just me? I usually don/t pay much attention to my feet, though I make sure I scrub it thoroughly at least once a month (oops, is that too long an interval even? >.<) especially removing the dead skin and dirt that has accumulated around the heel and ankle portion. I was gifted a very nifty stainless steel foot file by my friend, Jenny! She has them specially made, I love that the foot file is designed ergonomically so that it’s really comfortable to hold. One side with the protruding circles is designed to be rougher so that it removes stubborn dirt and dead skin while the other side with the lines is lighter on the skin. What I do is I soften my feet skin with warm water and soap before I use the foot file! You can also do this during or after your shower.  Since it’s stainless steel, no worries about it getting rusty. 😉 If you’d like a foot file for yourself or to purchase in bulk, contact Jenny @ 9806 7232. After cleaning my feet,I enjoy lavishing my skin with lotion, either in The Face Shop’s White Secret Whitening Body Essence or Chanel’s Chance. It always feels nice to pamper my body. Share with me your favourite body lotion!

Celebrating 4 Years of Enabalista

Hi Loves!

How’s your week coming along? 🙂
My Monday totally felt like a “weekend coma”; post hectic weekend coma. >_< Last week was a really long week with planning and executing my blog Enabalista’s 4th Anniversary giveaways, blogging appointments as well as work packed back to back. So I felt so lethargic at work on Monday… But then I was totally excited to meet up with my girlies at work for dinner at Saveur heheh.

Before it gets too late, I’d like to share my thoughts on reaching Enabalista’s 4th Anniversary! ^^,

On my Instagram last Thursday, which is also the very date of my very first post on this blog (30th Oct), I posted a series of #TBT photos that encapsulates 4 of my passions and popular topics on my blog:

Enabalista 4th Anniversary Fashion Beauty Travel Food 001

Fashion
I started off this blog to share photos and thoughts of fashion shows that I attended when I was a fashion student. I had the chance to attend many local fashion shows while assisting backstage and also as my BFF, Bini’s guest for the premium shows such as Chanel.

Enabalista 4th Anniversary Fashion Beauty Travel Food 003

Beauty
Not long after, I also started to review beauty products, starting off with skincare and a ton of lip care products. In the course of 4 years, I’ve had the pleasure to review many brands, as seen in the photo and also recommended many of them to you my readers, as well as family and friends.

Enabalista 4th Anniversary Fashion Beauty Travel Food 002

Travel
If you’ve been following my blog long enough, you’ll also know that I love to travel and to blog about my travels. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to travel far for 2014, apart from Malaysia and even for those short trips I also haven’t had the time to post up photos. >_< If you’re new to my blog, I hope you’ll enjoy reading about my trips to Seoul, HK, Japan & London. 🙂

Enabalista 4th Anniversary Fashion Beauty Travel Food 004

Food
As a true Singaporean, I’m a big fan of fine cuisine! I love to enjoy good food and I love to share where all these delicious food are on my blog here.

My Blogging Philosophy
With 4 years of blogging, I’ve come to realize that my blogging philosophy is sharing about my positive experiences, whether it’s about the 4 topics above or beyond. I relish in new, exciting & enjoyable experiences. Personally I feel that the best gift one can give & receive is spending time together and what better way is there to do than to enjoy a good experience together? 🙂

Additionally, I like to think that my posts are “edu-taining”- educational and entertaining at the same time! My wish is that when readers come to my blog, they’ll soak up new knowledge about fashion, beauty, travel & food while also really enjoy my reviews and photos. Basically every blog post is crafted according to how I would enjoy reading it as a reader! 😉

Etude House Wisma Flagship Store Opening

Did I start out my blog 4 years ago thinking it’d reach where it is today?
Absolutely not. As I mentioned above, I started out blogging to post information and photos that I was passionate about. On hindsight, these information that I have are also exclusive, so blogging is really a great way to share these exciting information and meet bloggers and readers alike who are equally passionate about these topics as I am. It was only in mid-end 2011 that I started to blog quite industriously and was posting up more content in terms of events that I attended and beauty products I’ve tried.

Best Singapore Lifestyle Blog 2013
Then December 2013 came around and I still remember that I was at my church’s 50th anniversary camp at Malacca when I was in the hotel room I shared with my friend Talia and reading the email from HotelClub.com that they have selected me to be one of the “Best Singapore Lifestyle Blog 2013“. I was super stoked and I was incredibly happy, excited and thankful to be recognized for this blog that I’ve been passionately maintaining.

Screen Shot 2014-11-04 at 4.05.15 pmKose Cinderella Finalists & Tricia Ong

Then Jan 2014 came around and I started to receive an influx of invitations from brands for events and reviews. Two very exciting things also happened for me in mid 2014, I took part in Kose Cinderella contest and OMY Best Beauty Blogs contest, one after the other. Although I didn’t win either one of it, I’m still very thankful for my family and friends who have shown so much support for me and through these contests I’ve also got to know the lovely ladies who took part in the contests and these connections are truly invaluable.

Singapore’s Lifestyle Blog
2014 also marks the year where I clearly defined that I wanted my blog to be recognized as a lifestyle blog. I am passionate about things beyond just 1 topic, and I don’t want to limit myself to be only blogging about one topic. So sometime around January this year, I set a goal that I wanted my blog to be known and ranked top as “Singapore’s Lifestyle Blog/Blogger” on Google. Lo & behold, after about 100 posts in 2014 alone, my dream came true in October this year and I was very thankful when a PR contact introduced me as “Singapore’s leading lifestyle blogger”. I don’t know if I am able to maintain my blog’s Google ranking, or how long I can maintain it for, but I know that if more readers enjoy reading what I blog about, then the easier it would be to sustain the ranking. 🙂

The future ahead
Like 4 years ago, I’m not sure where my blog will be headed to in another 4 years. But I do know for sure that I’ll continue to be passionately sharing about my positive experiences for Fashion, Beauty, Travel & Food. Currently there are 2 things that I wish to accomplish: 1. Publish a book about Lifestyle; an editorial summary of topics similar to my blog 2. Produce a series of diary/organizers. However right now I have too much on my plate for work and blogging that I am KIV-ing these goals that I wish to achieve until the time is right. If you’re reading this and would like to partner me to accomplish these goals, email me and we’ll see how we can set things in motion. 🙂

Last but definitely not the least, I want to thank God for His providence and guidance for my life and blog and my family and friends for their support and encouragement. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, my dear readers and friends for reading my blog. 🙂

If you haven’t, be sure to check out these 4 awesome giveaways that I am currently running on my IG, FB & Clozette:

Korean Fashion with OKDGG

Hi Loves!

I’m a big fan of Korean drama and recently I’m crazy over Fated to Love You, which is a korean remake of the popular Taiwan drama of the same name!

Fated-to-Love-You-Poster-1 NosKU0p FatedToLoveYou_PC_bc1 Fated-to-Love-you-korean-dramas-37561448-1280-720 fated_to_love_you-0084 641

(Images taken from various sites as watermarked, last image from Couch Kimchi)

And you know what? Watching this drama is so effective for my exercise and diet plans. >u<
That’s because when I watch HOW SKINNY these korean actresses are (I swear their legs are like my arms, ok maybe I’m exaggerating…) That after an episode a night, I’d be totally motivated to go down for a run even when I am dead tired or resist that pack of biscuits that I considered munching on.

I digress.

I’m not sure about you, but I am totally inspired by Korean fashion and make up. Every time after I watch a korean drama with a great sense of fashion styling, I’d take notes, consciously or unconsciously and be inspired to dress more like them.

But the thing is, we don’t always have access to korean fashion here in Singapore right? And not all of us can afford the luxury of time and cash to fly to Korea every season. 🙁

But with the awesomeness of the internet and OKDGG, now we can shop Korean fashion and have them shipped right to our doorstep! OMG how awesome is that?! FREAKING AWESOME I TELL YA.

What is OKDGG

DGG (Delivery Guarantee Global)service provides global post service through the network of Malltail. We safely handle and deliver your order from South Korea and also support customer satisfaction for your international delivery. – Taken from the FB page.

So basically, OKDGG stands for OK, Delivery Guranteed Globally from South Korea! 😉

My Radiant Skin with Atlas Medical Laser & Aesthetics Clinic Vit C Treatment

Hi Lovelies!

It’s my third time back at Atlas Medical Laser & Aesthetics Clinic for their facial and this time round, it was just the Vit C treatment without the Silk Peel treatment! If you haven’t, check out the first session review and the second session review.

Previous times, the Silk Peel treatment would remove the dead skin, but when I experienced the Vit C treatment alone this time, it also includes the first step where the dead skin is gently removed.

If I haven’t already mentioned in the previous posts, I am saying it now, that I’m a big fan of the Vit C treatment because of the visible hydration on my face that gives me a beautiful glow, which isn’t something that I am just shamelessly saying, but also well commented by my friends when I meet them after the facial sessions. Hehehe! >u< Check out my bareface photo taken just before the Vit C session and after, with just sun block and home room lightning, no filter! Yes I usually do use filters for my Instagram photos, but not for these two after photos to show you how glow-y and radiant my face looks even hours after the facial for the day! I definitely recommend this facial to be booked for the day or the day before a special event and you want a ***glow***! ^^V IMG_6685-0.JPG

Princess Treatment at Etude House’s World’s Largest Flagship Store @ Wisma Atria

Hi Loves!

Just last Thursday I was at Etude House’s World’s Largest Flagship Store VIP Opening @ Wisma Atria. Man, I don’t even know where to start! The experience was incredible to say the least. The folks at Etude House sure do know how to throw a big princess party! 😀 I don’t think anything I say is gonna do justice to it, so that’s why you’re gonna be treated to a feast of pretty pictures. 🙂  As Etude House’s world’s largest store, they have a dedicated booth/wall/stand for every part of your face and body. No kidding. You’ll see! And of course, one can’t escape from commenting how PRINCESSY the entire decor is. Decked in pretty pink and regal white, this store is every little / inner-little-girl’s dream. 😉 Plus, this store is SO FUN. To amp up the princess themed decor, there is a Pumpkin Carriage that you can enter with your GF/BFF to take photos with. Sorry, the cute male models were specially flown in only for the opening day. 😛 Also, there are capsule machines that will churn out 1 charm that you can add to your unique Etude House bracelet. For the month of October, you get to collect 1 pink token for every $20 spent, up till 5 tokens/$100 per receipt. Thereafter, you’ll have to spend $30 to redeem 1 pink token. And there are also special discounts and gift sets (while stocks lasts) for sale to celebrate their opening, so be sure to head down before the month is up! 🙂

As posted on my IG, I scored a selfie with Pony after the cosy blogger interview session we had. You must be curious about the Q&A, here it is!

Interview with Celebrity Top Korean Make Up Artist Pony

Q1. What do you think is the 1 thing you have done right to become so popular?
PONY (P): In addition to trendy makeup in Korea, I also try other looks from the Western make up scene, such as my recent Scarlett Johansson cover makeup. I think that is why I am popular globally.

Screen Shot 2014-10-20 at 12.03.02 am

Pony’s Scarlet Johansson Makeup Cover.

Q2. What’s your current favourite beauty trend?
P: Dewy moist makeup as it’s very dry in korea now.

Q3. What is your top favourite skincare product from Etude House and top favourite make up product from Etude House?
P: Skincare: Moistful collagen gel and mist
Makeup: Play101 as it comes in a variety of 50 colours to play with.

Q4. What is your secret to good skin?
P: 1. Don’t stress.
2. Before I do a scrub, I use a mask pack for hydration. And I also don’t do too much scrub.
3. I use fine foam when cleansing, so the bubble is soft on the skin and not pulling down the skin.

Q5. What is a big make up mistake?
P: Make up that is not balanced. I feel that the face is in a 100% ratio spread across the Eyes, Nose & cheek & Lips.
So for example, when the eyes has 50% of the attention, then spread the attention evenly 25% and 25% on the Nose/Cheeks and Lips. Don’t over do and have strong makeup all over your face, it will be too overpowering.

Q6. How do you recommend a fuss free make up routine for busy Singaporeans?
P: I think the Precious Minerial Any Cushion is great, as the foundation comes out evenly and applies really fast without having not too much on the face. This product cuts the steps of a normal foundation of application from squeezing and transferring to hand then face, so it is convenient. Then apply dark eyeliner and go for a bright lip colour.

Q7: If you could only choose 1 Etude House product to use forever, what would it be?

Etude House’s Cookie blusher. I recommend the warmer colours as it suits natural skin better.

spd_20120228212300_b

Q8: Can we expect a video on your Singapore trip to be uploaded to your Youtube channel?
P: Yes I will have a cute -style video of my trip in Singapore to be on my channel! 🙂

Q9: Will there be any future project with  Etude House?
P: I am a big fan of étude house. I hope that there will be more unique products such as the Play101 pencils to come unless Etude House doesn’t want to collaborate with me. *Sad Pouts*

Q10: How do you make makeup last longer in humid weather such as in Singapore?
P: Don’t apply too much make up, the eechnique is to make skin lighter by applying thin layer. Also I recommend using a sebum control powder to help control the oil and also using the Wonder Pore Freshener before make up.

Monochrome Fashion with Osmose

As a Fashion marketing & management graduate, Fashion is and means many things to me. Fashion is an expression of our personality, how we choose to style and adorn ourselves speaks about who we are and how we want others to perceive us. For my 24th, I had the pleasure to attend a Tag Heuer event (blog post coming up) and celebrate at Prive @ Keppel Bay with my friends. With the monochrome dresses I selected from Osmose, I was well dressed for the occasions. 😉

Decadent Scents with Penhaligon’s Singapore

A while ago Leanne & I popped by Penhaligon’s at Marina Bay Sands for a cosy and intimate Fragrance Profiling session. It was my first experience with Penhaligon’s despite passing by their ION store on several occasion, amazed by the antique yet quirky interior. Penhaligon’s is a perfect paradox; a blend of both traditional British heritage and modern technology & design to develop scents that are relevant to today’s lifestyle.

Penhaligon’s is founded by William Penhaligon who started as a hairdresser at the famous Piccadilly Turkish Baths on Jermyn Street in London before his keen eye for business led him to open a new salon down the street a few years later. Thus Penhaligon’s was born when he started to create his own scents, lotions and potions for his discerning clientele.

At every Penhaligon’s store you will see two Royal Warrants from The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh respectively, a mark of recognition for supplying goods and services to the Royal Family. This royal link was forged over 140 years ago when founder Penhaligon was appointed Royal Barber and Ferfumer to the Royal Court during Queen Victoria’s reign and Penhaligon’s was granted its first Royal Warrant from Queen Alexandra in 1903.

Today, Penhaligon’s scents are still made and bottled in England, the signature Penhaligon’s fragrance bottle echoes William’s original design; clear glass with a distinctive ribbon wrapped stopper. Even though Penhaligon’s is over 140 years old, exploring new fragrance technology is at the very heart of what they do.

Penhaligon’s Fragrance Profiling service is a fascinating and extravagant way to help customers find their perfect Penhaligon’s scent. This exclusive service is available at all their boutiques. The fragrance expert will first explore the customer’s fragrance tastes and build a personality profile while engaging in conversation. Then they will introduce the various fragrance families; citrus, floral, etc and watch the client’s reactions. Once a fragrance family is decided, further scented strips are presented to the client, narrowing the choices until only 2 are left. The client is then encouraged to try the two scents on their skin to see how they react to their skin chemistry. The final choice fragrance is then revealed. This experience normally lasts 30 minutes to a hour and is accompanied by tea, biscuits or even a glass of champagne. 😉

We were also introduced to their new (back in July, not so new by now, oops) perfume Tralala, inspired by the fantastical universe of Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchkoff, designers behind Meadham Kirchhoff. Meadham Kirchhoff’s shows have been scented by Penhaligon’s for the past nine seasons and Tralala marks the first signature scent collaboration. Tralala is an opulent, hedonistic blend created by Master Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour.

HEAD NOTES: Aldehydes, Saffron, Whiskey, Ambrette Seed Butter, Galbanum, Violet Leaf Absolute
HEART NOTES: Carnation, Leather, Tuberose, Ylang Ylang, Orris, Incense
BASE NOTES: Myrrh Resinoid, Opoponax Absolute, Patchouli, Vetiver, Cedarwood, Heliotrope, Musk Vanilla

Review: Get Scared at USS Halloween Horror Night 4!

Two weeks ago I went down to RWS’s USS Halloween Horror Night 4 with blogger friends Sheena, HP And Shu Hui! These are the photos taken from the night… Personally I’ve been to HHN2, 2 years back and truth be told, it was scarier the first time simple because I’ve never experienced anything like that before! That said, my experience this year was undoubtedly exhilarating and extremely exhausting, lol. My silly brain thought I had the tickets placed in my wallet when… it was still home and I only figured that out when I was already at Vivo at 8pm. T_T So Sheena and I cabbed down to my house where my sister kindly brought down the tickets and the same cab took us back to Harbourfront and then to Sentosa. That said, thank God for Uber because they’re having a 25% off for cabs for October. If you haven’t tried Uber taxis, try is and enjoy $10 credit when you use my code “enat3”, find the promotion tab and input the code to redeem. 😉 When we reached USS, it was before 9pm and we met up with HP and Shu Hui for haunted houses Mati Camp & The L.A.B. Then we went to Jack’s 3-Dementia which is the first 3D haunted house and it was SO FUN. I loved it! Sheena and I were too exhausted and scared to go for Jing’s Revenge which left Shu Hui’s spirit shattered, we just chilled at the restaurant with a delicious pizza slice and drinks. 😉 My final  thoughts on HHN4? You have to try it at least once if you haven’t. It’s best to go with a group of friends and I think a pax of 4-6 would be best, so it’s cosy and you will always have someone infront and behind you (if you’re a weak girl like I am, hahaha). At The L.A.B Sheena and I lost HP and Shu Hui infront of us and I literally pushed the stranger guy behind me to go infront of me to lead the way. OOPS. >.< Stranger guy, if you happen to read this, THANKS again! <3 And 1 tip! When you think of all the street roamers/scare-rs as someone to take a selfie with, they become a lot less scary. 😛  Last 3 weekends for the HHN4! Go grab your tickets here if you haven’t! Thanks RWS for the sweet tickets.
xx Ena

Healthier Steps with Arch Angel Singapore

– Sponsored Post –

Have you ever came across a piece of news or a source of knowledge that changed your life and basically you just can’t ignore what you’ve learnt?

Well, my experience with Arch Angel is exactly like that. I stepped into the Arch Angel shoe shop almost totally ignorant about feet types and walking styles and stepped out empowered with all these knowledge that I am constantly reminded about with each step I take since that day. No kidding. Read on to find out more!

At the invite of Arch Angel Singapore, I went down to their store at Star Vista, a mall I absolutely love and have a lot of affinity with, even having once won an iPad Mini from them! 🙂

I was warmly welcomed by Arch Angel staffs Agnes and Owen. Owen is Arch Angel store’s Retail Operations Manager and a certified pedorthist. If you’re like me and wondering what pedorthist means, it’s the title of a professional who has specialized training to modify footwear and employ supportive devices to address conditions which affect the feet and lower limbs.

Owen proceeded to educate me about my feet type and walking style, which I am in turn going to share with you!

Foot/Arch Types

Feet-types

There are 3 basic Foot Types: High Arch, Normal Arch or No Arch/ aka Flat Foot.

Arch Angel Singapore Review 001

Owen used this iStep machine in the store to test my feet type and you too can visit the store to have your feet type tested for free. 🙂  Basically I only took photos of the monitor but there’s a sensor pad (like a weighing scale) on the floor that is attached so that the corresponding pressure applied is reflected on the screen.

Arch Angel Singapore Review 002

This is how the pressure of my body is spread out on my feet – red indicates the heaviest pressure and the photo shows that I rely more on my right heel. As you can also tell, I have a normal arch in between each foot. That is why Owen recommends me to wear shoes that has a a built in / add on cushion to allow me to bridge the ball and heel of my feet so that I have better balance and won’t tire as easily.

Arch Angel Singapore Review 011

Here is an illustration of another type of feet (courtesy of one of the Arch Angel’s staff feet) with super high arch that the entire body is rested on 4 distinct point or ” like 4 separate islands” in Agnes’ words. So for people with such high arches, it’s even more important to have shoes with cushion for the arch.

Pronator or Supinator?

Arch Angel Singapore Review 004

This image shows shows the actual path taken by my foot from heel strike to toe off from the ground when I walks. Pronation and supination is identified during a gait analysis by a podiatrist or pedorthist.

Normal pronators with normal arch will see your ankle roll inward up to fifteen percent and push off evenly from the front of the foot. You would need a moderate pronation control shoe or stability support shoe.  Over-pronators will generally be flat footed. Your ankle will roll inwards more than fifteen percent and you will push off from the big and second toe only. You would need a motion control shoe or stability support plus shoe to control pronation. You may damage your muscles and joints if you ran barefoot, barefoot technology or shoes for neutral runners with standard insoles. If you are a Supinator (Under-Pronator) you would be landing more on the outside edge of your foot, have a high arch and tight Achilles tendon. A neutral cushioned shoe without stability devices and softer midsole to allow more flexibility for natural pronation, works for Supinators.  See more here.

Naot is a shoe brand produced in Israel and is carried by Arch Angel shoe store. This also shows the unique Strobel Construction method used in some Naot shoes. In Strobel construction, the upper is stitched onto a sole shaped piece of fabric by a special machine. This is then lasted and stitched onto the outsole. The Strobel construction makes the Naot shoes very flexible and comfortable to the feet.

Arch Angel Singapore Review 008

YES. Even when wearing slippers with the arch makes a difference to your steps! IT DOES. My experience at Arch Angel was truly eye-opening. When I was wearing all the shoes above with the right size – 37 and with the cushion to fit my normal arch feet, they were very comfortable AND I could withhold pressure better and had better balance on my feet!

These are the wonderful cushions for moderate arches, sold at Arch Angel store, you can use them to add on to your own shoes!:

Take my word for it, I high recommend you to go pay Arch Angel a visit! Allow their staff to educate you on your feet type and walking style and advice what type of shoe size and style best fits your lifestyle and needs. You are not going to regret it. This information will only benefit you for a better and healthier you! 🙂

Arch Angel Singapore Review 012

They also have a machine that kills the germs in your shoes, so that it will be odour free. It costs a nominal fee to use this and it only takes 8 minutes.

Wanderlust Strikes

Lately I think about the travels I’ve had abroad and a very strong urge of wanderlust strikes. I was very fortunate to travel to Japan, Hong Kong & London last year and this year I haven’t been abroad except for Malaysia…

I want to go to Paris, Italy (again) and Taiwan…

Let me leave you with a quote and pictures from my travels last year.

The world is a book, and those who do not travel, read only a page.

One Pretty Baby

I just read about the news that Blake Lively is expecting a baby with Ryan Reynolds and honestly it’s really exciting because watching her for years on Gossip Girl as the sexy Serena Van Der Woodsen and now she’s gonna be a mother… It’s almost surreal as much as I am elated and excited along with all Gossip Girl fans as well. One thing’s for sure, the baby is definitely gonna be good lookin’ . Congratulations Lively & Reynolds! Check out Serena’s pregnancy announcement on her own US site, Preserve here.

Couldn’t take pics whilst my hair was washed and treated to John Frieda Frizz Ease Flawlessly Straight range. Nonetheless it was undoubtedly a great experience! It was relaxing, aromatic and gentle. You don’t have to worry about this range being too harsh on the hair because the shampoo, conditioner and masque was definitely gentle! I can’t say how much it helps to straighten hair since mine’s already rebonded, but I definitely can tell it helps my hair to be frizz free. Plus the Frizz Ease range promises straight styling results for up to 24 hours. 😉

Passage New York Body Massage & Facial Review

-Sponsored Review-

A few weeks ago, I was invited down to Passage New York for a facial and body massage and here’s my review followed by perks for my readers. 🙂

IMG_4781.JPG

IMG_4782.JPG

Located close to Raffles City MRT, Passage New York is a facial and spa place that caters mainly to office ladies working in the area. When you arrive you will see two doors, one towards the shop that sells bags and clothes and the other that is the entrance to a huge facial and spa place with 22 rooms. It is the biggest facial and spa place that I have been to in Singapore, to date.

My appointment started a quick 5-10min registration, form filling and analysis and after which was the Body Massage followed by the Facial session.

IMG_4778.JPG

As I had to keep my bag and phone in the locker, I couldn’t take a photo of the body massage room I was in. It’s a big room with a bed, shower and bath tub.

I was ushered into the room by the receptionist and met the female masseuse who then showed me the new set of disposable underwear to change into for the body massage.

After I changed, the masseuse returned to the room and the body massage session started off with a “Lotus scrub with milk based” moisturizer which was warm. There was a layer of plastic on the facial bed so I guess that makes cleaning up a whole lot easier. The masseuse gently scrubbed the entire of my body from the back followed by the front, just excluding the private regions, covered by the disposable underwear. I do believe you can choose to bring your own bikini which will be more comfortable, if you want to.

After the gentle scrub down, I showered in the shower area in the room and changed into another set of disposable underwear for the body massage.

The masseuse used warm Lavender oil and the massage is done in Balinese style. The massage starts from the back, from the legs followed but the shoulders and back and then the front legs, hands and tummy. I get tickled easily so I opted for no massage at the tummy area although that area is supposedly massaged as well! I throughly enjoyed the relaxing and soothing back rub down/ massage. It was soooo awesome. I also love that the massage helps loosens where it aches/ hurts(shoulders and legs for me) and it feels so good.

2014-09-23 11.32.00

Found this image from DestinAsian.com to illustrate the awesome back rub. For illustration, this is not NY Passage or Me in the picture!

When the massage ended, I changed into their spa provided robe and headed to the facial room. Yes, with the massage oil still on the body because it is not advisable to shower after massage, until after 1-1.5 hours.

IMG_4772.JPG

IMG_4773.JPG

IMG_4774.JPG

This is how the facial room looks like, each room is named after a president!

The facial session was as such:
Cleansing:
I had light make up on so the beautician removed it with milk cleanser and double cleanses with another facial wash.
Hot Steam:
Then there was a deep cleansing mask with hot steam followed by massage.
Extraction:
The beautician removed more than 20+ black heads and It didn’t hurt cause pores opened due to the steam.
Ampoules:
She used two: sodium hyaluronate and sensitive for sensitive skin and light massage as my skin is quite clogged and sensitive.
Mask + massage:
Mask followed by a shoulder massage which was very good as I tend to have tensed shoulders, then rest 10min.
Sunblock:
After removing the mask, apply sun block.
Done!

The only drawback about the facial session was that the redness due to the extraction on my face took a few days longer to go down as compared to others that I have been to. :/

IMG_4767.JPG

IMG_4769.JPG
After the facial, I showered and changed back to my own clothes at the common area which feels like a hotel’s post sauna area where you shower and prim up yourself. 🙂

Check out the other facilities at the Passage New York which customers can use before their appointment:

Detox & Hydrate with Eumora The Moor Bar with Hma Factor

UPDATE
You can get a FREE trial now from www.FreeEumora.com with a small shipping and handling charge. 😉

Hi Lovelies! <3

How have you all been? I hope your weekend was fine, as was mine~ 😀

Today I’m sharing about a new skincare product that I’ve been using and enjoying; a facial bar to be exact!

Pre & First Impressions

When I was first invited via email to review this skincare product, I was not expecting to come to enjoy using the facial bar as I am now. As most of my skincare products, especially cleansers, come in a tube or modern plastic dispenser of some sort! Facial bar, ala LUX-style bars are meant for body soaps, not for facial cleansing, right? Well, I thought wrong. And I’m also glad to be able to report and share with you all why I enjoy using this soap bar! Read on for my review, then I will share with you just exactly what’s in this unique facial bar (marketing info. and ingredients benefits etc) that makes it effective and enjoyable to me. 😉

Eumora The Moor Bar with HMA Blogger Review Enabalista 1

My Eumora bars came in an elegant Europe-style box with baroque print details, lovely isn’t it?
The Eumora bar set do not come with the plastic holder, but it will be necessary! 🙂

Close up of the box; Eumora The Moor Bar with Hma Factor.

4 small Eumora facial bars nicely packed within! Love it, reminds me of chocolates/snacks. 😛Eumora The Moor Bar with HMA Blogger Review Enabalista 4This is how the facial bar looks like, a milk chocolate colour bar. Incase you’re wondering and hungry, it’s not edible, lol. 😛

My Review of Eumora The Moor Bar with Hma Factor

After using the Eumora The Moor Bar with Hma Factor for two weeks, in the day and evening, the very first thing I noticed is how my face has a visible shine right after using it. Its hydrating factor is definitely something worth raving about. Imma gonna insert a photo of yours truly, bare face, right after using it:

photo

Bare face, cleansed and no that is not my facial oil shine on my nose and forehead… it’s a legit and visible shine every time after I use the bar! No photoshop or filter for this pic either! When I started using the facial bar, I was very impressed with the shine on my face after cleansing, I would look at my face in the mirror and go “wow”, this stuff is really hydrating!

So in addition to the cleansing and hydration effect of this facial bar, what I like is that it gently cleanses without any taut feeling after, so I know that it doesn’t strip my face off the necessary oil. In case you don’t know, if we strip our face of the good oils, it will cause our skin to churn out more oil. So to gently cleanse your face without stripping it completely off oil is better for your skin in the long run! The facial bar is fragrance free. To use, you will have to wash your hands, lather the soap bar in your hands and then spread and leave the lather on your face for 3 minutes before washing it off with water after.

A note of caution, you might experience a healing crisis, as in a breakout after using this product as it helps you to expel the toxins in the body. So don’t worry and it is normal.

Here’s a clear Directions for use diagram:

Screen Shot 2014-07-14 at 9.40.57 pm

I will recommend people with normal to oily and acne prone skin to use this. People with dry skin should also use this. 🙂

So just what goes into this facial bar that makes it hydrating and unique as I mentioned?

1. Moor

Natural Nutrient Rich Organic Mud from Europe

Moor has been used for well being for at least 2,000 years.
The Romans prized it for its health and strength promoting qualities,
even Cleopatra was reputed to have indulged in Moor as part of her beauty regimen.

Benefits

Reacts Fast

Antiseptic

Detoxifying

Anti Inflammatory (Great for acne skin)

Wow! Sounds impressive isn’t it?

In case you think Cleopatra is merely a Shakespearean character ala in Anthony & Cleopatra, she really did exist.

REPUTATIONS: RICHARD BURTON, TAYLOR MADE FOR STARDOM

A cinematic portrayal of Anthony & Cleopatra.

Cleopatra VII Philopator (GreekΚλεοπάτρα Φιλοπάτωρ; Late 69 BC[1] – August 12, 30 BC), known to history as Cleopatra, was the last active pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, only shortly survived by her son, Caesarion as pharaoh. The name Cleopatra is derived from the Greek name Κλεοπατρα (Kleopatra) which meant “glory of the father” in the feminine form, derived from κλεος (kleos) “glory” combined with πατρος (patros) “of the father” (the masculine form would be Kleopatros Κλεοπατρος).[2][3]. – Wikipedia.

Wait a minute, let me fact check if Cleopatra really did use Moor mud, I mean, she lived so many years ago… Is it just a marketing gimmick to name drop a classic Egyptian beauty to sell a modern day product? 😛

According to this Spa shop, Queen Cleopatra took regular Mud and Milk Baths as her beauty ritual!

Therapeutic mud often comes from areas around mineral springs, and the high mineral content of the mud is regarded as one the main reasons for its beneficial effects.Cleopatra is said to have prized it so highly as a beauty treatment that she persuaded Mark Anthony to conquer the region and present it to her as a gift. Like seriously? Wow! The power of Cleopatra…

Moor mud is an organic peat substance formed by the decomposition of a variety of plants over a very long period of time. Extracted from the moorlands of Central Europe, it is a black paste that dissolves easily in water and has a high concentration of amino acids, minerals, plant hormones and vitamins. This mud has been valued for its beautifying and therapeutic properties from ancient times to the present day. It was used by the Romans and the Egyptians; Queen Cleopatra apparently took regular mud dips when she wasn’t bathing in milk. In modern times, people can avail themselves of this mud in spas and health centers, or purchase it for home use from health stores and online health therapy sites.

The unique healing properties of this mud have been used to treat a variety of human and animal ailments. The mud has been found to relieve suffering associated with arthritis and rheumatism, soothe muscle aches and reduce joint swellings, and stimulate the immune system. Being an antibiotic and astringent, the mud has a cleansing effect on skin and is used in skin care as a facial or an entire body pack. Moor mud treatment improves circulation, staves off wrinkles and gives the skin a healthy glow. It is often used to treat skin problems like acne, eczema andpsoriasiso.

Ok, so this Moor Mud thing is legit good for the skin and has healing properties, whether or not Cleopatra was so famously known to have used it in her beauty rituals.

2. MicroAlgae aka Chlorella Sorokiniana

(Sounds like a mix of Japanese and Brazil, lol)

Rich in Vitamin B1, B2, B12 and niacin which can increase the skin’s energy and protect the skin to stay away from all kinds of pressure (I think it means the radicals/pollutants in the air).

Benefits includes:
Deep moisturizing action (So this is what deeply hydrates and give me the shine after using it!)
Strengthens defense qualities of the skin barrier.
Gives extraordinary softness and brightness.

Sans & Sans Delivers Classic Looks with a Twist

Hi Lovelies!

A while back I’ve had the pleasure to be invited down for Sans & Sans’ fashion show which I unfortunately couldn’t make it to due to a clash of schedules. However I did pay a visit to their cozy boutique at Marina Square Shopping Mall to pick out a few items.

Perhaps you don’t frequent Marina Square Shopping Mall and haven’t had the chance to check out this boutique before. So allow me to introduce the Sans & Sans brand!

Sans & Sans is a homegrown (Singapore) label and it’s a brand built on the rich oriental heritage to cater to the sophisticated customers today. Think Shanghai Tang, but in a more affordable bracket.

Without further ado, check out the store:

Sans & Sans Blog Review Enabalista 002_new

The overall vibe of the store’s decor concept is Modernity meets Heritage, as contemporary chic apparels and accessories juxtapose against vintage-style furnishing. The experience of ruffling through the collection is both exciting and cozy.

I matched a blue collared white long sleeved top with what I call the Sherlock Holmes style pants for a formal look, one that exudes British sensibilities, don’t you agree?Sans & Sans Blog Review Enabalista 009_new

Here in the same top with a cute asymmetrical skort (skirt shorts) which is one of the 2 items I love. Do you ever feel that you keep wearing an item over and over again because it fits so well and you love it that much? That’s exactly how I feel with this pair of skorts. Major love, guys.

Achieve Youthful Light with Estée Lauder ANR Eye Synchronized Complex II Serum & Cream

Hi Lovelies!

It’s no secret that I’m a personal fan of Estée Lauder. And like many, I have been introduced and fallen in love with their Advanced Night Repair serum and now consider it one of my HG serum. I’m not sure about you, but I do think that serums start to come in handy as our skin age so that they can help to nourish and/or maintain the youthfulness of our skin. And truth be told, I’m not a big fan of serums as I generally find them to be too rich (read: oily or greasy) for my combination skin and occasionally pimple outbreak. However I can attest that after using the ANR serum for 2 years, I now consider it my magic potion and I apply it in the night before I sleep and in the morning after I wake up I find the blemishes on my skin is reduced remarkably and has an overall radiance and glow. It’s no wonder that the ANR is the best selling product of Estée Lauder. With amazing results as such, what’s not to love?! Well, the price may be a little steep but a little of this magic potion goes a long way and it’s a price of beauty that I think is worth paying.

IMG_9419.JPG

So a while back, I was invited down for an EL event featuring their ANR Eye Synchronized Complex II Serum & Cream and here’s photos from the lovely event held at the Fullerton Bay Hotel Floating Pod. It was an exciting and moving (literally) event. :p

IMG_9418.JPG
The stars of the event; ANR Eye Synchronized Complex II Serum & Cream, alongside the widely raved (me included) ANR.

IMG_9393.JPG
Estée Lauder trainer, Belda came in to educate us about the new range.

And here are my key takeaways from Belda’s presentation (note the headers are the main points and the paragraphs after are my personal elaborations):

1. Light = Youth
The younger the skin, the more it is able to reflect light. And that is why retaining the suppleness and fairness of the skin are keys to retaining the youth of the skin.

In fact, in light (pun intended) of this perspective, Estée Lauder has now introduced the Youth Light measurement as an Estée Lauder proprietary testing method / measurement to measure the age of the eyes.

2. Ozone = Cellular Damage
The air, sun, dirt in the environment we are exposed to, especially in the city, causes cellular damage. No surprise there, honey. Unless you’re able to somehow find solace in the Swiss mountain alps or somewhere of equivalent purity, we can’t run away from the exhaust from cars on the road, industrial factories and not to mention occasionally forest fires from neighboring countries. I hate to encourage fear where none ought to be due, and perhaps we’re not all going to start sleeping in oxygenated (not pure but in higher concentrations) rooms (which is too pricey anyways and only the likes of Mariah Carey can afford). But this is a fact of life, as we should know that 1 in 4 adults will have cancer in their lives, we may not wake up each day in fear that we will have cancer but we can surely start to use this knowledge to empower us towards healthier living.

3. Skin is 40% thinner around eyes
And that is also why the formulation differs from the regular ANR and the ANR Synchronized Complex II Serum and Cream.

4. Catabolysis Purification of Skin
I know, Catabolysis is a huge word and you’re wondering what it means. To put it simply, the geniuses in the Estée Lauder labs have found a way to formulate the ANR Eye and Cream serum to activate the skin in the way that it will renew itself, and hence purify the skin.

IMG_9397-0.JPG

How the Estée Lauder Eye Synchronized Complex II Cream looks like before application.

IMG_9400-0.JPG

Estée Lauder Eye Synchronized Complex II Cream after application.

It’s gel like in consistency and compared to the serum it is also thicker and heavier. It is recommended to use this cream as a total eye serum product, so you don’t have to layer it. Generally we apply skincare products on our skin avoiding the eye area as it might be too strong, then you can use this to cover the eye area.

IMG_9398.JPG

IMG_9399.JPG

How the Estée Lauder Synchronized Complex II Serum looks like before and after.

It is more liquid based and beige/ cream in colour. Compared to the cream it is lighter in texture and consistency. Due to the nature of my skin as mentioned at the beginning of this post, I tend to prefer using this serum over the cream. I love that it’s stored in a pump dispenser allowing ease and convenience of use. I love to use this on the night before I have little sleep or have to wake up earlier and it helps to lighten my dark eye circles. I can’t promise that it will work magic for you, if you constantly work and sleep late but it’s definitely worth a try.

As a huge fan of the ANR, I embrace these two eye serum and cream into my ANR family.

Man & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 2_new

I picked out Nerolex from Man&Wood’s Wood Fit Collection and Cube from the Ikins Collection for my iPhone 5.
Each comes in a solid paper casing with the respective gorgeous image as seen on the site. It’s always good to see consistency from what’s online to what you open to when it’s received at home, isn’t it?

Man & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 3_new

I can’t fly to winterlands on whim nor do I often head out to the woods to caress the trees. But with Nerolex, nature’s wood is brought to my hands! What a privilege this is. 🙂Man & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 4_new

I was pleasantly surprised to open the box to reveal a pretty Nerolex covered with clear plastic. You know, like doubly protected!

With Nerolex & Man & Wood’s Wood Fit collection, nature is literally always within your reach. I know it’s cheesy, but true… Like love. 😉Man & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 8_newThe feel of my new Nerolex cover is much like running your hands through a brand new wooden table, impeccable enmeshed/put together with smooth plastic which allows you to easily slot your phone in and out.

When I was selecting which cover to review for this post, Cube was love at first sight for me. It’s glamour and chic combined into one kickass cover. I’d like to think that it kinda represents my personality. HAHA. #NotShyAtAllMan & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 11_new

Under direct sunlight.Man & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 12_new

Under the shade.Man & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 13_new

Appreciate that Mother of Pearl sheen… SO GORGEOUS guys, I die.

For basis of comparison, the Cube cover is visibly shinier, smoother on the surface and it is also thicker than Nerolex. The Mother of Pearl is coated with a layer of material which I think is plastic and you can easily wipe off any dirt. It looks very, very precious. The plastic layer is quite hardy but I do recommend to avoid putting it with keys as you would avoid/prevent from scratching your screen. I am honestly so impressed with the Cube design and the Mother of Pearl glow / sheen that I’m just picking up my phone every 5 minutes to gaze and admire it when I’m crafting this review. Hehe. 🙂

Man & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 14_new

Now I feel that my wonderful phone and life companion is appropriately & honourably blinged out. 😀

Man & Wood SG Cover Review Enabalista 15_newIf our clothes express our personality, then our mobiles which we use on a daily basis also expresses who we are. Whether it’s Wood Fit or Ikins collection, you’re bound to find a design that will express your phone personality! 😉
