If you’ve been following my updates on social media, you’d know that I’ve gone through multiple hair colours in the last 2 years and most significantly in the last year when I’ve sported light brown with ash highlights, purple (which faded to a blend of blonde & purple hues, mad love) and grey hair colours. Whilst I did not regret the multiple hair colours as they were so much fun and made it easier for others to break the ice and approach me (“Wow, purple hair, so brave!” “Another hair colour?”), my hair was really dry and damaged especially after bleaching for five times to achieve a light grey hair colour. (And to think that I once dreamt of having Platinum blond hair, my hair would be fried!)
So when Chez Vous offered me to try out their latest Trilogy treatment: Synchronized Advanced Hair Rebuilder, I accepted in a heartbeat – God knows my hair needed the hair treatment!
Thanks to Chez Vous Trilogy System: Synchronized Advanced Hair Rebuilder, my dry and damaged hair (left) was restored to a healthier and manageable state (right)!
Just what exactly is Chez Vous’ Trilogy System? A simple, systematic and sustainable 3-phase approach to achieving beautiful, manageable and healthy-looking hair: Rebuild, Resculpt, Revitalize.
The three Trilogy hair services work synergistically as a complete beauty regimen for the hair, as well as separate, customised treatments for specific hair conditions and lifestyle needs.
And what does Chez Vous Synchronized Advanced Hair Rebuilder entails?
Utilising three state-of-the-art ingredients (bond rebuilder elements, a potent mix of amino acids and anti-breakage actives) in combination with a highly- effective delivery system to penetrate these complexes deep into the hair, this treatment promotes genuine and permanent reconstruction at the cellular level.
The bond rebuilder elements repair broken bonds in the hair shaft that are prevalent in damaged hair so as to strengthen hair from deep within. The amino acids complex then seals the repaired protein bonds in the hair shaft for long- lasting resilience, giving it a distinct edge over other strengthening treatments in the market. Hair is stronger, more resilient and perfectly prepped for the Resculpting Supreme treatment to follow.
In a nutshell, it is basically a hair repair treatment filling dry and damaged hair with nutrients to repair and rebuild broken bonds and strengthen hair from within, so hair becomes stronger and healthier over time.
Check out my hair transformation over the last few months:
Purple hair, this was after 4 times of bleaching to achieve a hair colour light enough for the purple to come through:Purple hair fades to blonde and purple hues – my favourite hair colour combination by far!:
Thereafter I had bleached my hair one more time to a grand total of 5 times to achieve a light grey hair colour, this was when my hair became really really dry and frizzy and it was very hard to maintain – I had to go through a strict regime of: Shampoo, conditioner, mask, hair moisturizer/essence at night and hair oil in the day just to tame the frizz and keep it manageable! Despite my damaged hair condition, I reallyyy loved the grey hair colour too!
If I washed my hair in the day, this is how frizzy it would become, I had to wash at night, blow dry and sleep overnight to reduce the frizz (but I don’t always wash my hair at night, haha): Really hate and dislike mad frizzy hair! On mornings after I washed my bleached hair at night – more tame and manageable hair. 😀
This was when I started my journey on Chez Vous Synchronized Advanced Hair Rebuilder, after a coat of dark brown:
After the second session in October 2015:
After the 7th session that ended in November 2015:
Even after a few months later in March 2016, my hair is tame and manageable just like before my crazy hair colours! I can now wash my hair in the day and it is NOT frizzy! Amazing, almost miraculous!
Without a doubt, I highly recommend Chez Vous Synchronized Advanced Hair Rebuilder to anyone who is looking for a legit, effective and long term solution to dry and damaged hair. While it takes a few sessions to see results, each session is less than an hour long and it’s always a comfortable and relaxing experience each time.
Check out the super enlarged scans of my own hair after each Synchronized Advanced Hair Rebuilder treatment:
After the 1st treatment, hair is visibly hollow and with spilt ends:
After the 2nd treatment, hair is less hollow as the treatment is beginning to fill it up, but you can still see visible split ends:
After the 3rd treatment, the gaps in the hair are gradually being filled up:
After the 4th treatment, the gaps in the hair are gradually being filled up, so its less hollow now:
After the 5th treatment, you can barely see any hollowness/gaps now.
After the 6th treatment, the results of the treatment are beginning to really show:
After the 7th treatment, hair is now repaired and restored to a healthier state!
It took me quite a while to prepare this blog post detailing my experience with Chez Vous Synchronized Advanced Hair Rebuilder treatment; as I had to compile photos and information to illustrate my hair’s journey from dry and damaged to its current rejuvenated and healthy state. I hope you find this post helpful, as much as I found it satisfying to share this wonderful treatment with you too!
If you’d like, you can watch my review on video too:
In my next Chez Vous related post, I’ll be sharing my review of the Express Revitalizing Supreme!
Prices: Starting from $155 per session of the Synchronized Advanced Hair Rebuilder, $375 for a session of the Resculpting Supreme and $185 for a session of the Express Revitalizing Supreme. A complete series of the Trilogy System is recommended for optimum results.
Chez Vous is located at #05-05 Ngee Ann City Podium, Singapore 238872. Call 6732 9388 to book an appointment, or log on to www.chezvoushair.com for more information.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure to test drive Volvo’s V40 T2 Sports Hatch for a weekend and here’s my review for the layman (sorry, no fancy car geek speak here), followed by excerpts from the official press release about the car’s key features and specifications! 😉
The New Volvo V40 T2 exudes the aura of a compact car with large car capabilities. It is equipped with Volvo’s Drive-E powertrain – designed and built in Sweden – offering a world-class blend of
drivability and low CO2 emissions. It’s hard to not fall in love with this beautiful car; it’s sporty yet practical exterior and interior design is a sight to behold.
There a few features of the car that I love, one of them being the keyless access and ignition – something that’s not new to the car world, but definitely worthy of mention as it’s a feature usually found for bigger cars and not easily available in smaller, entry level cars. I also love the overall feel of the car on the road, thanks to a powerful yet quiet engine, a gear panel that’s ergonomically designed for smooth gear changes, luxurious full leather seats and a comfortable interior for both front and back seats despite it being a rather compact car.
Overall the Volvo 40 is definitely a car I’d recommend if you’re looking for a great, safe and reliable compact car. The only few things I can think of that it is lacking is an inbuilt GPS system (though it is available on a slightly higher-end variant) and lacking a reverse camera( granted it does have a reverse sensor). I would also prefer if it came with a higher, instead of lower body, which is available for Volvo V40 Cross Country.
The Volvo V40 that I test drove came in a beautiful striking red, a colour I never imagine I’d drive as I prefer monochrome colours like black and white. Admittedly, a few days with the car made me think that a little red car might not be a bad idea, as it looks kinda hot and cute.
V40 EXTERIOR
The New Volvo V40 T2’s wide shoulder line stretches back from the headlamp with a sharp line to echo the rising beltline. As it reaches the end of the rear door it sweeps up into an integrated “hook” – a trait inherited from the legendary Volvo P1800. This highlight continues rearward integrating flawlessly into the tail lights. The roof silhouette contributes to the impression of a car leaning forward – eager to take off. The car is finished with a dynamically-sculpted rear to further emphasise its width and muscular stance, with the lower area “blacked out” to achieve an athletic, low and wide look.
INTERIOR
Designed Around People
The interior of the New Volvo V40 T2 is designed around people with a strong emphasis on ergonomics, comfort and an engaging driving experience. The wide instrument panel, together with the fluidity of the door design, creates a spacious feel where driver and passengers can bask in a relaxing atmosphere of true Scandinavian luxury.
All-New Petrol Drive-E Engine
The New Volvo V40 T2 is powered by an All-New 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. It has 122 bhp and 220 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is 5.5 L/100km with CO2 emissions at 129 g/km
SAFETY & SUPPORT
City Safety – Active Up To 50 km/h
The New Volvo V40 T2 is equipped with the enhanced City Safety system. This system is active at speeds up to 50 km/h allowing the car to brake auto matically should the driver fail to react in time when the vehicle in front slows down or stops, or if the car is approaching a stationary vehicle too fast.
OPTIONAL SAFETY TECHNOLOGY
Pedestrian Airbag Technology – A World First
In order to alleviate the consequences if a collision with a pedestrian is unavoidable, the New Volvo V40 T2 can be fitted with Pedestrian Airbag Technology, a world first. When the sensors in the front bumper register the physical contact between the car and the pedestrian, the rear end of the bonnet is released and at the same time elevated by the deployment of the airbag, cushioning any blows to the head from the front windscreen.
Watch a video explanation here:
Cross Traffic Alert – Covering Your Back Cross Traffic Alert uses the radar sensors at the rear end of the car to alert the driver on crossing traffic from both sides when reversing out of a parking space. This is especially helpful in tight and crowded areas where the side view might be obstructed by infrastructure, vegetation or other parked cars.
Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection technology
New advanced software, including more rapid vision processing made it possible to extend Volvo Cars’ detection and Auto Brake technology to cover certain cyclist situations as well.
Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection with Full Auto Brake is equipped with an advanced sensor system that scans the area ahead. If a cyclist heading in the same direction as the car suddenly swerves
out in front of the car as it approaches from behind and collision is imminent, there is an instantwarning and full braking power is applied. The technology also detects if a pedestrian steps out into the road in front of the car. If the driverdoes not respond in time, will sound a warning and automatically activate the brakes. The V40 can also detect, alert and automatically brake if the car risks colliding with another vehicle in front.
Road Sign Information – An Extra “Eye” on the Traffic Environment
Road Sign Information supports the driver by displaying road signs in the instrument cluster. It can also be combined with the Speed Alert function, which provides the driver with a visual warning in the speedometer if the speed limit is exceeded.
Active High Beam – Relax While Driving in the Dark
Active High Beam technology helps the driver utilise high beam more efficiently. It offers automatic switching between high and low beam at the right moment, when an on-coming vehicle is detected.
Driver Alert Control – Detecting and Warning Tired Drivers
Driver Alert Control technology is designed to detect and warn tired and distracted drivers. Sensors register the car’s movements, while a control unit stores the information and calculates whether the
driver is at risk of losing control of the vehicle.
Adaptive Cruise Control & Distance Alert – Keeping a Safe Distance
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) promotes comfortable driving by using radars to automatically maintain a set time-gap to the car in front. Queue Assist helps to maintain the set gap all the way till the car comes to a complete stop.
Volvo V40 Specifications

As of March, the price of the Volvo V40 is $145,000. ($182,000 previously published was for the Cross Country version)

“Refresher Course” Tips
It’s been a while (a few years) since I last drove, so my dad had accompanied me to pick up the car on Friday before I had a “refresher course” on Saturday and finally driving it on the roads by myself on Sunday. I highly recommend going to Kallang Stadium area where there are a lot of empty car park lots to practise driving and parking! Also, driving over the weekends (while avoiding town area) is a lot easier as the roads are not as congested compared to week days.
Thank you Volvo Singapore and One9Ninety PR for the kind invitation and offer to test drive the Volvo V40 for the weekend! Visit the Volvo V40 microsite here and Volvo Singapore FB here.
Tho late in coming, today I’d like to share about a movie I’d watch with Fion, at the invite of KDK! 1965 is a movie about Singapore during her pre-independence days and the struggles and racial riots the people went through. It was a heart warming movie to know how the different races came together to help each other and it was also a timely reminder of how far Singapore’s come as a country, nation and as a group of people since those dark days – and we should never take our peace and harmony for granted. The movie starred local celebrities Joanne Peh, Qi Yi Wu (though they are a couple in real life, they were not acting as a couple on screen, haha) and veteran actor Lim Kay Tong as Lee Kuan Yew. Having watched Jack Neo’s Long Long Time Ago during this year’s Chinese New Year, 1965 is a much heavier movie in terms of political coverage and emotional scenes – if history’s your kind of thing, you’d love this – though I did feel the movie was a little slow and boring, without the local celebrities star power, the movie would not have had such an appeal. I’m not sure where you can catch the film now since it’s no longer screening, but you can watch a clip of it here on Toggle (my first time actually visiting Toggle site, hahaha).
Thank you KDK for the movie tickets and cute goodie bag gifts!
Let me share my two worst period cramp experiences – the first one was when I was in JC, I almost concussed while trying to crawl out of a toilet because I was in such severe cramps. I ultimately made it to the Art classroom and ended up sleeping for 1+ hours before my dad came to pick me up. The second bad experience was on the way for a facial session at Plaza Singapura and I ended up sleeping for 1+hours before needing a friendly female security guard to guide me to the taxi stand to get on a cab and lying down at the back until I made it home. I never want to relieve these nasty experiences ever, which leads me to my top 3 tips on how to fight period cramps:
1.Mentruheat Pack
IF I had Menstruheat pack with me then, these experiences probably won’t have happened! I can’t recommend these enough – during the 1st / 2nd day of my period when it’s the worst – I’m all bloated and cramps are the severest – I open one of these and I stick it under my shirt where the abdomen / pain is and then it just soothes the pain so much! The best part is the heat lasts for 12 hours straight!
If you’re wondering how heat helps relieve period cramp, check out this article extract:
Presenting his findings to the Physiological Society’s annual conference, Dr Brian King said: ‘The pain of colic, cystitis and menstrual period pain is caused by a temporary reduction in blood flow to organs, causing local tissue damage and activating pain receptors. ‘The heat doesn’t just provide comfort and have a placebo effect – it actually deactivates the pain at a molecular level in much the same way as pharmaceutical painkillers work.
You can find and purchase them online here, $9 for 4 pieces.
2. Exercise Regularly
Exercise can help relieve menstrual cramps in a few ways. It increases blood circulation, which helps cramps to go away. Menstrual cramps are also made worse by stress; exercise is a well-known, natural way to lower stress. Extract taken from this article.
3. Increase Complex Carbohydrates (Whole Grains)
When we have periods, our brains crave for sugar, by increasing the intake of complex carbohydrates such as whole grains will help counter fluctuating blood sugar levels, which in turn helps lessen cramps. Extract taken from here.
Here’s to a healthier, happier period cramps free life!
Thank you PSLOVE for sending these Menstruheat packs over for review!
I’m not sure about you, but since I’ve started working I realized that time for exercise really needs to be scheduled due to the hectic schedule of work. And I always look forward to my company Monday evening runs along Sports Hub at Stadium nearby our office because there are’s a regular group of colleagues that will always show up and its so scenic there! Running and breathing in fresh air just really lifts my spirits and energy for the week, as it helps with my blood circulation for better skin and the endorphines released during and after exercise makes me feel happy~

Are you thinking of seeking professional help on your slimming journey? Marie France Bodyline should be no stranger to locals since we are all too familiar with the brand’s ambassador Christy Chung’s svelte figure on past campaign posters around town and more recently, our local A-list actress Fann Wong’s post pregnancy sexy figure reveal, all thanks to Marie France Bodyline treatments.
About a month back, I visited Marie France Bodyline to try out their new treatment that promises to be highly-effective in circumferential reduction, reduces cellulite appearance and enhances body skin tightening – Venus Freeze. It was my second time at MFB as I was visited earlier last year for their PRO-FREEZE treatment review. I was pleasantly surprised that Venus Freeze, unlike Pro Freeze, is a warm treatment.
More about Venus Freeze:
Safe, pain-free and results-driven, Venus Freeze is the first and only clinically-proven treatment to receive FDA clearance for the use of Magnetic Pulse technology. Magnetic Pulse fields have been used in medicine for decades and have a proven track record with regards to their regenerative properties, including synthesis of collagen, fibroblast proliferation and neo-vascularity.
Each session of Venus Freeze treatment takes about 30 to 40 minutes depending on the area and one can expect to see results as the treatments progress. The treatment is relaxing and pain-free with no downtime that gives long-term results.
Now on to photos and my review!
Checking in to Marie France Bodyline at Orchard International Building, first time visitors can expect to fill in particular forms before meeting a consultant to advise which treatments would best fit your needs and target areas. After my discussion with the consultant, I decided to go ahead and try out the Venus Freeze treatment on my arms.
In the changing room.
Changed out into the robes.. but I later changed into a towel wrapped around my body for the treatment on the arms.
Treatment room with natural sunlight streaming in. This is the massage head that was used for my Venus Freeze treatment on the arms.
Another smaller massage head. First a gel is spread across the skin of the targeted area to reduce friction and increase effectiveness from the massage and treatment. Then the massage begins and it is timed for an automatic 10 minutes. The heat from the massage head and massaging action gets more intense with time. If it gets too hot, you can request for a lower temperature. At first I was a bit hesitant as I was afraid it might be too hot, but after I know the heat limit from one side, I could really enjoy the heat and massage during the treatment on the other side. The result after 10 minutes, the skin is red from the heat and massage but is not prolonged, goes down quickly after the treatment. The last step is putting on a mask with collagen, to sooth and hydrate the skin.
After the treatment, I did a post review session with the consultant and my immediate post treatment measurement shows that I lost a quarter inch from 10.75 to 10.5inch around my arm. This Venus Freeze treatment works for those looking to reduce circumference of the body, cellulite appearance and tightens the skin.
Depending on your needs and target areas, you can adopt a treatment blend of both Venus Freeze and Pro Freeze treatments, a session with Marie France Bodyline and their professional consultants will help you to custom make a personalised treatment to achieve your desired physique and goals.

How has the New Year been for you? Short as it may have been, it’s already been full of ups and downs for me. However I’m hopeful and staying positive that the year will only get better! Today I’m sharing the third and last installment of my ASUS ZenFone 2 6 Inch Full HD review and I’ve got my mum to share her views of it! ^^ If you haven’t you may check out my unboxing review and second review.
My mum loves the new ASUS ZenFone 2 6 inch Full HD because of its wider, bigger screen and clearer sound system than her current Samsung phone. She’s happy because she doesn’t need to squint any longer. Her satisfaction of the phone is evident in the photos you’ll see, as she’s all smiles in them!
I personally think that ASUS ZenFone 2 is great for the elderly because of the wider and bigger screen, they can read from the screen and watch online videos clearly without haven’t to squint their eyes. Plus the sound system of the phone is great and clear for elderly that may have some hearing difficulties.
Thank you ASUS Singapore for the new gadget that allows my mum to catch up on her Taiwan dramas and Youtube cooking shows with much ease and comfort!
After a day’s of work, how do you spend your time while resting and relaxing? For me, I love to watch dramas, especially Korean dramas of romantic comedy genre… 😀
Recently I am especially hooked on Oh My Venus, starring actress Shin Min Ah and actor Soo Ji Sub and I’m so stoked to be able to watch the drama on the latest ASUS ZenFone 2!
In my previous unboxing post I’ve compared the ASUS ZenFone 2 with my IPhone 6.
Comparing the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 6.0-inch FHD phone on the right with my current iPhone 6 on the left. iPhone 6 is 4.7inch, so the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 6.0-inch FHD is a whooping 1.3inch inches bigger! The screen is also longer, wider and bigger for a more enjoyable video watching experience, woohoo!
And here’s how it looks like:
A bigger screen to see Shin Min Ah’s pretty face~
I am super loving drama watching on the ASUS ZenFone 2 because with its 1920 x 1080 Full HD, the screen is wider, longer and bigger resolution. Plus, the dual 5-magnet speaker makes for excellent audio too! I love that even though the screen is bigger, I can still hold it comfortably in my hands while resting in bed. I find my IPad Mini too big and bulky while drama watching and the ASUS ZenFone 2 is a great size upgrade from my IPhone 6! 🙂
Check out a snippet of the beautiful visuals, loud & crisp audio experience from the ASUS ZenFone 2 for yourself! 😉
Til the next post~
Thank you ASUS Singapore for the ASUS ZenFone 2 for review!
Are you looking for the perfect mobile video-watching gadget and companion? A phone that’s bigger than your current one yet not too heavy for your hands? Well, in this and two more upcoming blog post, I’ve got just the phone to recommend you! 😉

A teaser photo of my new ASUSZenFone 2 Laser 6 inch FHD and its vibrant Full HD screen!
A quick run through of the specifications of the phone, for those of you who like technical speak:
ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 6.0-inch FHD (ZE601KL) features a stunning hairline metallic finish, and is engineered with a laser auto-focus as quick as 0.03sec for near-instant clarity, a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, dual 5-magnet speakers for up to 80% better performance, the latest Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4 for unrivalled scratch-resistance, strength and everyday durability, and Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor with 3GB fast memory. Dubbed as the best smartphone for entertainment, the mobile theatre, ZenFone 2 Laser 6.0-inch FHD (ZE601KL) is equipped with dual-SIM 4G connectivity, perfect for gamers and for those who love watching videos on-the-go.
Are you as excited as I am after reading about this awesome phone?! I have already started watching Korean dramas (I am majorly obsessed with Korean dramas, in case you’re unaware, lol.) and boy, I am loving the wider screen and awesome audio experience! I can already imagine what will ensue when Mum starts to bug me for the phone for watching her Taiwan dramas… 😛
I’ll be sharing with you more photos and experience of the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 6 inch FHD in the next two posts, stay tuned! 😉

Finally, enjoy a “Chic Little Christmas” with Bread Society’s classic European Christmas treats. Merry Kouglof, a brioche topped with dried blueberry and lemon zest, is best enjoyed with a steaming cup of hot chocolate. For some flaky, buttery goodness, have a Merry Berry, a traditional Danish, shaped like a Christmas tree and filled with creamy, smooth, custard cream and decorated with fresh strawberries, blueberries and redcurrants. Other timeless festive favourites on the shelves at Bread Society, include the Stollen, a moist loaf-shaped fruit cake encompassing a special blend of dried fruit; and the popular Italian Panettone, usually only made fresh in hotels. The new Rudolph and O Christmas Tree complete the Christmas fun with character-shaped brioche doughs, a sure hit during the festivities.

Back in November, I attended Affordable Art Fair 2015 with my gal pal Christabelle, just like we did last year. It’s held at F1 Pit building at Marina South. This year there were 86 participating galleries from Singapore, Asia, Australia, America and Europe with works by 650 artists from all over the world. I have snapped a few of my favourite art works from Affordable Art Fair, sorry in advance if I don’t have the proper credit to the artists!
Thank you Affordable Art Fair SG and Tequila PR for the media invites to the private view before the fair opened to the public!

Back in July, I was invited to attend Cathay Motion Pictures Award 2015 private screening and award ceremony and it was a pleasure to watch the screening of all the 15 finalists’ works.
Cathay Motion Picture Awards is an annual short film competition created to fulfil Cathay Organisation’s commitment towards the development of Singapore’s film industry. Utilising its assets in cinema exhibition as the platform for aspiring filmmakers to showcase their talent, Cathay pioneers the path as the first and only movie exhibitor in Singapore to organise a short film competition. The winners have very attractive prizes. For results and videos, visit CMPA website here.
The lovely hosts of the evening.Congrats to all the winners!
It’s a tough job being the judges because a lot of the finalists are really good. My favourite short film was Zoe (super cool effects, btw), which unfortunately didn’t win the top 4 prizes. :/ All these contestants are crazy resourceful and talented, because they only had 2 days to script, produce & film and submit a video after the theme is released, so some of the directors double up as actor/actress – awesome or what right?!
Thank you Cathay Singapore for having me at the awards ceremony!
Ending of the post with a few shots with the lovely red telephone booths at Plaza Singapura… Thanks to Kenny of Kennybite Productions for these shots.
There was a slew of cool dance performances, models including cute kids rocking the runway and last but not the least SISTAR and their sexy performances!
With Smita & Kenny Cute DJ Sonia Chew hosting Cool lights and dancers rocking the stageCute kids on the runway You can match sporty SKECHERS with preppy fashion too! And do yoga with SKECHERS. Cute kids in local label, DEPRESSION kids. You can rock fashion with SKECHERS too.
We finally have SISTAR on stage after a long slew of performances! IT WAS HARD TO GET A GOOD SHOT. They had such sexy bods, seriously!!! Those abs.. those legs. BOOMS.Cute Bora. Sexy Dasom. Sorry no clear or good shots of Hyolyn or Soyou!
Super love these 3 SKECHER kicks. Guess which one I brought home with me? The summery one! Really can’t resist this sweet Hawaiian style prints. <3
Really love the printed shoes from SKECHERS, they’re really lightweight and comfy, visit their flagship store at Ngee Ann City #B2-04 to get your pair of SKECHERS.
Thank you SKECHERS Singapore and WOM PR For the media invite & goodies!

Thank you CSC @ Changi for the media kit and news update.
A while back, I had the chance to have my hand in dessert art making under the demonstration and teaching of pastry chef Jasmin at Stellar at 1 Altitude located at One Raffles Place. It was such a pleasure and enjoyable experience to make the beautiful and delicious desserts and to be able to taste them later! We had fun making or designing rather, a platter of desserts, two of which featuring Stellar’s best loved desserts Creme Brulee and Fireball – these are sooo good. The Creme Brulee is coated with a layer of crispy caramel and is soft inside. The Fireball is presented with a coat of fire and is a ball of chocolate goodness! Check out the photos of the demonstration followed by our own creations below~
Always love the beautiful city scene from the top of One Raffles Place! Notes to bring home for the dessert making process. Most parts of the dessert platter was pre-made, we learnt how to design them on the platter and complete with finish touches. Head chef of Stellar at 1-Altitude popped by to say hi.Just some of the tools, ingredients we used and our drinks. Chef Jasmin showing us how she designs the plate with edible gold liquid. And her very artistically designed and plated desserts. Completely looks like a calligraphy artwork! Chef Jasmin must be very good at calligraphy. Love the beautiful night scene in the background as Chef works on the dessert art. The complete look. It’s not going to be easy to duplicate this edible art piece! We try…. hahahah. It was amazing and fun to play and paint with the edible gold liquid. We also had fun putting the edible flowers on the dessert. Our table’s completed platter. Not bad right? 😉 One more city scape for the night. After the fire diminishes, you get a molten chocolate ball which is oh so good. Thank you Chef Jasmin, Stellar at 1-Altitude & Heat branding PR for having me at the dessert making class!
A few weeks back, I travelled to Genting with a group of bloggers and friends. Although we didn’t know each other (except for our plus ones of course), we got to know each other better through the trip and had a blast! We had so much fun that by the end of the trip, I really didn’t want it to end~
There’s going to be so many exciting developments taking place in Genting! A new premium outlet mall is slated to open in mid 2016. 20th Century Fox Theme Park which will be completed in phases, will open by the end 2016. And that’s not it! There’ll also be a Sky Avenue Mall, Sky Plaza & a new cable car system which will connect First World Hotel & the new premium outlet mall. Which only means we totally have to go and check it out when they’re open!!! By then, spending 1 weekend at Genting will not be enough, you’ll need at least 3 days or more. In the meanwhile, read on and find out what we did during our recent trip, so you can get some ideas if you’re planning to head down soon!
The bloggers and I headed to Genting via coach. We met up at Boon Lay shopping centre for the coach ride: There are a few coach providers, we travelled with The One. I must say that their buses (to and fro) and bus drivers were very good, so I would recommend them. Bus tickets are about S$80-90 for round trip. We took the night coach which departed at 10pm and we reached Genting around 4.30am.
We were welcomed by the RWGenting team when we reached Genting and were directed to our hotel rooms at the newest wing, aka Tower 3, XYZ deluxe rooms. Here’s how the lobby looks like! Tower 3 lobby. Terminal 2 cafe located at the ground floor of Tower 3.Plenty of seating spaces at Tower 3 lobby. I like the modern graphic interior design & use of fresh colours. Even more spaces, yes it’s a huge lobby, but even then I think it’s still not as big as the main First World Hotel lobby. Automatic check out stations. Our rooms are located on the 25th floor. Even though there are 6 lifts, it still takes a long time (15min) for the lift to reach our floor especially during peak hours from 10-11am, which is around check out timing. So plan your time in advance to give allowance for the lifts. 🙂Our XYZ Deluxe Room! I like the modern, simple yet chic interior design and the comfy bed & linens. However there’s no wifi in the rooms. A quick check with the RWGenting team reveals that they have already feedback to the management but it is still not confirmed if and when wifi will be provided in the rooms. If you need wifi, it is available at the lobby, as well as at cafes like Starbucks & The Bakery. You should also bring your own toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo) as they are not provided for. Should you forget, you can also buy from stores like Watsons nearby. After a few more hours of rest, we got ready for our brunch! Here’s the morning view from our #25 floor lift lobby. Am using the miniature lens effect of Casio TR60 camera. With bestie Fion on our first trip together! ^^With the local bloggers & friends~ Visit what Chiu Yen have to say about the Genting trip here and Eileen’s post here!
We started our day with brunch at Coffee Terrace, for their lunch buffet. We were allowed in earlier than the public crowd (yay to media perks!).
At the Coffee Terrace, you can savour dishes from the Local, Flavors of Malaysia, Chinese, Western, Japanese & Western Asian counters (Last two counters opens only for dinners). There are also very good varieties of appetizer, salads and desserts on the buffet spread.
The delicious spread of food on our bloggers table! We decided that we will each take food from the various counters and combine them on the table. This fantastic idea was suggested by Chiu Yen, who has a lot of buffet experience! Most of us were full from this spread, we didn’t have to go for round 2… Well, only except to get ice cream!:Ice cream and sorbets in chocolate, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, orange and lemon flavours. It’s hard to decide, but my favorites are the lemon & blueberry flavours. Buffet dining with a view!Love what you see at the Coffee Terrace buffet spread? 😉 The quality & variety of food is great and definitely value for money. I personally really like the local food, char kway teow, chicken rice and the desserts are nice too. I’d recommend this spot for buffet lunch if you’re visiting Genting!
Coffee Terrace Buffet Lunch Prices
RM 38.00 nett [adult] ; RM 19.00 nett [child] – normal days
RM 50.00 nett [adult] ; RM 25.00 nett [child] – Eve PH & PH

After a very hearty lunch buffet, we headed to Chin Swee Caves Temple. The Chin Swee Caves Temple is situated in the most scenic site of Genting Highlands. Even if you are not a devotee, like myself, you will still enjoy this cultural experience. Within the temple is the statue of Reverend Master Chin Swee, who is also referred to as a deity in Fujian Province for his supernatural abilities to summon rain and drive away evil spirits. Located 4,600 feet above sea level, the temple is about 5-10 minutes drive down from the peak of the mountain. The temple attracts many local and foreign devotees as well as tourists.
Irene explaining the history of Chin Swee Cave Temple. The story goes that the Genting Group founder Tan Sri Dato Seri (Dr) Lim Goh Tong had a dream while visiting the area and Reverend Master Chin Swee aka Chin Swee Deity appeared in his dream and blessed him, so Dato Lim donated this plot of land and built the Chin Swee Temple. Also, the face of Deity Chin Swee is black because he fought the evil spirits and escaped but resulted with a black face. The temple’s relief wall and pillar art works are very beautiful and intricate. They display high levels of craftmanship and artistry. Lotus floral ceiling relief. View of the mountains from the temple, lined with incense. Isn’t it a lovely picture? ^^ Gorgeous view of the mountains. Outdoor pond with many turtles. Turtles gathering – 乌龟舞林大会. Not quite sure what they are discussing about though. 😛
We headed to the Sky Terrace level to continue the temple tour. With the Sky Terrace arch & Pagoda behind us!Another shot at the courtyard & infront of the gigantic statue of Buddha (blocked in this photo).
Our series of jumpshots! P.S. I checked with the hosting team that it’s not rude to be doing jumpshots here. 🙂 Not quite sure why I was laughing so hard! 😛 Beautiful environment on and around the temple grounds. Then we embarked on the route towards “Journey to Enlightenment” which is a rather similar experience to the local Singapore Haw Par Villa. Our guide explains that the journey is like a walk through hell followed by heaven. This is the “registration booth”, the beginning of the 18 levels of hell. The statues torturing people are actually very very graphic, vivid and grotesque so I will spare all of my lovely readers and not post them on my blog. Well, actually I didn’t even want the photos on my camera, so I didn’t take photos of them, hahaha. I respect the buddhist religion and teachings, but I sure am glad that I believe in Jesus and I know that I am spared from hell! 🙂 This is the part of the journey where people drink Meng Po Soup to forget their past life and head towards reincarnation – their next life.
There are many scenic spots along the journey. Doesn’t it look like I’m on a forest trek? 😉Again with the group! ^^ Infront of another Sky Terrace arch. That’s how the #7Heavenbloggers came about! Cause we went through hell and emerged to heaven. Hahaha!!! Together with some of the Malaysian bloggers. 🙂
After the temple visit, we headed back to First World hotel for Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem! We were early, so we settled down, finished our water from these cute bottles and did some IG postings while waiting for the show to start. ^^ I won’t give a blow by blow account of what goes down in the show, I’ll just share some of the exciting parts! The show starts with a dance and there will be many along the way. As the title of the show goes, it’s a Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem, so you never really know what to expect and there are many surprises along the way. So it’s exciting to seat, watch and wonder what is the next crazy thing to expect! Crazy things like this magic act of swopping out the dancer in the plastic wrappings to the little boy from the audience. You can watch the snippet in my video which I will embed at the end of this post! And crazy acts like Ed Alonzo disappearing from the stage and immediately reappearing in the middle of the audience, which is the exact row where I/we were seated!! And this part was particularly hilarious, Alonzo got a man from the audience and proceeded to burst balloons located all around him. He used a knife to burst the last balloon below his crotch!
We also watched Loughron James Stephen Leslie, a contortionist who also swallow swords from Austrialia, doing BOTH at the same time. CRAZYYY I TELL YOU. We also watched Ed Alonzo in many outfit changes and performing many magic acts with animals, in this case with rabbits. There was also a bird and a very cute dog. There’s also Toru Sato from Japan eating & playing with fire – he definitely didn’t listen, or his mother never told him to “not play with fire”! 😛 With Ed Alonzo, the lovely dancers & Sato. Seems like contortionist Leslie is too cool for photos with the audience. 😛 Group pic with #7Heavenbloggers.
Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus brings the best of magic & mayhem to the audience, which is visible from the attractive cast, visually pleasing props, setting & outfits to very crazy and impressive supporting performers. From 7 Nov 2015 to 13 March 2016, catch Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus show, tickets starting from RM88 to RM134.50, you can buy your tickets here.
After the performance, we headed to the visitor center where we learnt from Eric about the founder and the history of Resorts World Genting. You can read a summary from this site.A model of Genting highlands, which would require an update when all the new developments open next year!
We also watched a few videos about the exciting developments, one of them is this video about Sky Avenue:
The stunning new Sky Avenue is nestled right in the heart of the refreshed Resorts World Genting, with easy access from all adjoining hotels and leisure attractions. This brand new centre offers a complete and balanced retail mix with 165 retail and F&B lots ranging from 500 sq ft to 15,700 sq ft.
I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to this Sky Avenue!
For dinner, we headed to Resort Seafood for seafood steamboat!
Recommended plum ice blended drink! Its sweet, sour and very refreshing. We love it! We had the set for 8 persons, with crabs, prawns and many more, see the full list below: What I like about the dinner is the fresh ingredients with big portions and variety.
Set Menu for 8 persons dining
Member – RM 456.00nett; Non-Member – RM502.00nett
For more information & prices, visit their site here.
After dinner, we headed to First World Plaza for some shopping! The First World Plaza has got to be the coolest, if not highest (like literally, hahaha) shopping destination in Malaysia. There are more than 40 Retail and 25 F&B outlets plus attractions for all ages! For more information, visit here.Didn’t take many photos while shopping, except for this one at the Nike Outlet store, haha.
First World Plaza Operating Hours:
Daily: 10am – 10pm
Shops located at Level T2 will open until 12 midnight.
After shopping & chilling at Starbucks, we headed back to our hotel room to drop our stuff before heading out again to check out the Casino! (No photos allowed in the Casino)
It was my first time to a Casino on land (cause I went to the cruise one before, but that was just to check out my friend’s grandma and speak to her momentarily before we went elsewhere) and at the Genting casino, it was really crazy watching all the money that the gamblers were putting on the tables and the dealers counting the notes and stuffing them into the table, by the thousands(!). I mean, ok, I must sound like a sua ku (mountain turtle, lol) but it was eye opening for me ok? 😛 For more information about Genting Casinos, check out here. I don’t recommend nor endorse gambling, unless you have a lot of money to burn. 😛
We woke up early next morning at 7am and here’s the makeup I brought for the trip! Etude House Any Cushion in Peach (Primer), LANEIGE BB Cushion (Whitening range for dewy look). Benefit Air Patrol Eyelids Primer (New and a fab base for longer lasting eyeshadow colours👌) The Body Shop FW Festive Eyeshadow Palettes, am super loving this Golden set which such a lovely combination of peach, gold & Browns 💕 Clio‘s Latest Tattoo Lasting Gel Brow Pencil & Waterproof Eyeliner & Last but not the least Anna Sui’s loose powder & new lipstick from the Holiday Snow collection (Which is love! Look at that star shaped lippie!⭐️😍) If my make up is not very well done, it probably is, plus puffy eyes because I didn’t have enough sleep, hahaha. 😛Caught up with Chiu Yen, her BF & Warrick at the lobby. Love the view! And another view from the ground floor! We checked out and then had our bags checked in before going for breakfast. Here we’re all using wifi hence the engrossed faces with our phones except for Chiu Yen who’s always camera ready and… not sure what Fion is doing, hahaha. 😛 We had breakfast at First World Cafe and here’s what I typically pick for a buffet breakfast! Porridge, salad, carbs, beans, ham & eggs! <3
After breakfast, we headed to the last and final stop of our trip, the ITALGElato ice cream shop! ITALGElato Head Chef and mini stick ice cream.
ITALGElato is Resorts World Genting’s in house original gelato brand, which makes them the only resort with such a claim. Edward Holloway, the resort’s Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations first came up with the idea of the resort’s own ice cream brand. It started as his team and him were brainstorming concepts for the new theme park and researching how to achieve a perfect Italian gelato in Malaysia. The innovation team then dived into the processes and came up with ITALGElato. The first stall was started for fun during the school holidays and they now have 4 stores and growing. The booth we visited is at Genting First World Lobby area. There are 21 flavours available.I love the red velvet flavour, it’s tastes like the red velvet cake but in ice cream. 🙂The must try signature flavours are Dark Chocolate & Orange Cheese Cake. Their Mango flavour is made with the best grade Alfonzo mangoes and I am not a major mango fan (don’t love it, neither do I hate it) but this tastes great! Ice creams are sold at RM9.50 for one flavour, RM19 for two flavours, RM28.50 for three flavours and RM38.00 for four flavours. The Stick Ice Cream come in 5 flavours, lemon, hazelnut, pistachio, strawberry and Gianduja (Chocolate and hazelnut), priced at RM9.50 for sticks and RM7.50 for minou (smaller sticks). These special sticks have jam inside! I love these.Chef demonstrated how to coat the sticks with coloured sugar & decorate them. And we all had a chance to try! Here are our creations! It was thrilling and exciting to be able to step into the shop to have our hand at the sugar coating process and to be able to see our creations in the store’s fridge. ^^ With our creations! And more ice creams! (Did not actually eat this, was too full hahaha.)Mini ice creams are my favourite! I like these as you can try many different flavours. 8 pieces at RM 20 and 12 pieces at RM 26.Children’s favourite! Random guest’s kids staring at the ice cream made for a cute photo. ^^
Before leaving RWGenting, we took more group shots! A “fierce” look. Followed by our natural friendly smiles. Really thank God that everyone was so friendly and easy to get along! ^^Thanks to Eric, Wei En & the team from RWGenting for taking such good care of us during the trip!
I really didn’t want to leave, and I hope to be back when the Theme Park & new mall is ready! ^^
I had this Waffle Cake at Yong Peng while on the way to Genting and I had it again on the way back to SG because it’s very yummy! It’s crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. 😛
I opted for the ChocolatePeanut Mixed flavour, RM4.50.
I compiled snippets of videos & photos from this Genting Trip into a video, hope you’ll enjoy watching it!:
Thank you RWGenting for having us and hosting us for such a fun weekend!
Now’s your turn to grab your family, friends & loved ones and plan for your next fun trip to Genting!
Well, by now you probably know that 70s style is back this season. In this post, I’m doing a modern interpretation of that Mod look. You can’t go wrong with stripes & a cute mini skirt! Pair it with a strong red lip makeup look & boots to go.
Motel striped dress & skirt from Revolve here and here. I basically want every item available from Motel, no kidding. I also wish that I could be back to Bar Canary and hang out with my girlfriends and chat over the freshest coconut juice all day.
