A while back, I received a media kit from CSC at Changi to announce their reopening!
Committed to providing premium recreational lifestyle facilities catered to the needs of its members, Civil Service Club (CSC) @ Changi has recently completed redevelopment and refurbishment works after two years and officially reopens on 4 May 2015.
The launch was officiated by President Tony Tan Keng Yam and hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, Minister-in-Charge of Civil Service.
CSC @ Changi has a newly built five-storey recreational complex housing sports facilities, an infinity swimming pool which overlooks the Changi Creek and 25 premium suites and villas designed for multi-generation Singaporean families to stay in during their weekend staycation away from the city bustle.

Thank you CSC @ Changi for the media kit and news update.
A while back, I had the chance to have my hand in dessert art making under the demonstration and teaching of pastry chef Jasmin at Stellar at 1 Altitude located at One Raffles Place. It was such a pleasure and enjoyable experience to make the beautiful and delicious desserts and to be able to taste them later! We had fun making or designing rather, a platter of desserts, two of which featuring Stellar’s best loved desserts Creme Brulee and Fireball – these are sooo good. The Creme Brulee is coated with a layer of crispy caramel and is soft inside. The Fireball is presented with a coat of fire and is a ball of chocolate goodness! Check out the photos of the demonstration followed by our own creations below~
Always love the beautiful city scene from the top of One Raffles Place! Notes to bring home for the dessert making process. Most parts of the dessert platter was pre-made, we learnt how to design them on the platter and complete with finish touches. Head chef of Stellar at 1-Altitude popped by to say hi.Just some of the tools, ingredients we used and our drinks. Chef Jasmin showing us how she designs the plate with edible gold liquid. And her very artistically designed and plated desserts. Completely looks like a calligraphy artwork! Chef Jasmin must be very good at calligraphy. Love the beautiful night scene in the background as Chef works on the dessert art. The complete look. It’s not going to be easy to duplicate this edible art piece! We try…. hahahah. It was amazing and fun to play and paint with the edible gold liquid. We also had fun putting the edible flowers on the dessert. Our table’s completed platter. Not bad right? 😉 One more city scape for the night. After the fire diminishes, you get a molten chocolate ball which is oh so good. Thank you Chef Jasmin, Stellar at 1-Altitude & Heat branding PR for having me at the dessert making class!
A few weeks back, I travelled to Genting with a group of bloggers and friends. Although we didn’t know each other (except for our plus ones of course), we got to know each other better through the trip and had a blast! We had so much fun that by the end of the trip, I really didn’t want it to end~
There’s going to be so many exciting developments taking place in Genting! A new premium outlet mall is slated to open in mid 2016. 20th Century Fox Theme Park which will be completed in phases, will open by the end 2016. And that’s not it! There’ll also be a Sky Avenue Mall, Sky Plaza & a new cable car system which will connect First World Hotel & the new premium outlet mall. Which only means we totally have to go and check it out when they’re open!!! By then, spending 1 weekend at Genting will not be enough, you’ll need at least 3 days or more. In the meanwhile, read on and find out what we did during our recent trip, so you can get some ideas if you’re planning to head down soon!
The bloggers and I headed to Genting via coach. We met up at Boon Lay shopping centre for the coach ride: There are a few coach providers, we travelled with The One. I must say that their buses (to and fro) and bus drivers were very good, so I would recommend them. Bus tickets are about S$80-90 for round trip. We took the night coach which departed at 10pm and we reached Genting around 4.30am.
We were welcomed by the RWGenting team when we reached Genting and were directed to our hotel rooms at the newest wing, aka Tower 3, XYZ deluxe rooms. Here’s how the lobby looks like! Tower 3 lobby. Terminal 2 cafe located at the ground floor of Tower 3.Plenty of seating spaces at Tower 3 lobby. I like the modern graphic interior design & use of fresh colours. Even more spaces, yes it’s a huge lobby, but even then I think it’s still not as big as the main First World Hotel lobby. Automatic check out stations. Our rooms are located on the 25th floor. Even though there are 6 lifts, it still takes a long time (15min) for the lift to reach our floor especially during peak hours from 10-11am, which is around check out timing. So plan your time in advance to give allowance for the lifts. 🙂Our XYZ Deluxe Room! I like the modern, simple yet chic interior design and the comfy bed & linens. However there’s no wifi in the rooms. A quick check with the RWGenting team reveals that they have already feedback to the management but it is still not confirmed if and when wifi will be provided in the rooms. If you need wifi, it is available at the lobby, as well as at cafes like Starbucks & The Bakery. You should also bring your own toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo) as they are not provided for. Should you forget, you can also buy from stores like Watsons nearby. After a few more hours of rest, we got ready for our brunch! Here’s the morning view from our #25 floor lift lobby. Am using the miniature lens effect of Casio TR60 camera. With bestie Fion on our first trip together! ^^With the local bloggers & friends~ Visit what Chiu Yen have to say about the Genting trip here and Eileen’s post here!
We started our day with brunch at Coffee Terrace, for their lunch buffet. We were allowed in earlier than the public crowd (yay to media perks!).
At the Coffee Terrace, you can savour dishes from the Local, Flavors of Malaysia, Chinese, Western, Japanese & Western Asian counters (Last two counters opens only for dinners). There are also very good varieties of appetizer, salads and desserts on the buffet spread.
The delicious spread of food on our bloggers table! We decided that we will each take food from the various counters and combine them on the table. This fantastic idea was suggested by Chiu Yen, who has a lot of buffet experience! Most of us were full from this spread, we didn’t have to go for round 2… Well, only except to get ice cream!:Ice cream and sorbets in chocolate, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, orange and lemon flavours. It’s hard to decide, but my favorites are the lemon & blueberry flavours. Buffet dining with a view!Love what you see at the Coffee Terrace buffet spread? 😉 The quality & variety of food is great and definitely value for money. I personally really like the local food, char kway teow, chicken rice and the desserts are nice too. I’d recommend this spot for buffet lunch if you’re visiting Genting!

After a very hearty lunch buffet, we headed to Chin Swee Caves Temple. The Chin Swee Caves Temple is situated in the most scenic site of Genting Highlands. Even if you are not a devotee, like myself, you will still enjoy this cultural experience. Within the temple is the statue of Reverend Master Chin Swee, who is also referred to as a deity in Fujian Province for his supernatural abilities to summon rain and drive away evil spirits. Located 4,600 feet above sea level, the temple is about 5-10 minutes drive down from the peak of the mountain. The temple attracts many local and foreign devotees as well as tourists.
Irene explaining the history of Chin Swee Cave Temple. The story goes that the Genting Group founder Tan Sri Dato Seri (Dr) Lim Goh Tong had a dream while visiting the area and Reverend Master Chin Swee aka Chin Swee Deity appeared in his dream and blessed him, so Dato Lim donated this plot of land and built the Chin Swee Temple. Also, the face of Deity Chin Swee is black because he fought the evil spirits and escaped but resulted with a black face. The temple’s relief wall and pillar art works are very beautiful and intricate. They display high levels of craftmanship and artistry. Lotus floral ceiling relief. View of the mountains from the temple, lined with incense. Isn’t it a lovely picture? ^^ Gorgeous view of the mountains. Outdoor pond with many turtles. Turtles gathering – 乌龟舞林大会. Not quite sure what they are discussing about though. 😛
We headed to the Sky Terrace level to continue the temple tour. With the Sky Terrace arch & Pagoda behind us!Another shot at the courtyard & infront of the gigantic statue of Buddha (blocked in this photo).
Our series of jumpshots! P.S. I checked with the hosting team that it’s not rude to be doing jumpshots here. 🙂 Not quite sure why I was laughing so hard! 😛 Beautiful environment on and around the temple grounds. Then we embarked on the route towards “Journey to Enlightenment” which is a rather similar experience to the local Singapore Haw Par Villa. Our guide explains that the journey is like a walk through hell followed by heaven. This is the “registration booth”, the beginning of the 18 levels of hell. The statues torturing people are actually very very graphic, vivid and grotesque so I will spare all of my lovely readers and not post them on my blog. Well, actually I didn’t even want the photos on my camera, so I didn’t take photos of them, hahaha. I respect the buddhist religion and teachings, but I sure am glad that I believe in Jesus and I know that I am spared from hell! 🙂 This is the part of the journey where people drink Meng Po Soup to forget their past life and head towards reincarnation – their next life.
There are many scenic spots along the journey. Doesn’t it look like I’m on a forest trek? 😉Again with the group! ^^ Infront of another Sky Terrace arch. That’s how the #7Heavenbloggers came about! Cause we went through hell and emerged to heaven. Hahaha!!! Together with some of the Malaysian bloggers. 🙂
After the temple visit, we headed back to First World hotel for Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem! We were early, so we settled down, finished our water from these cute bottles and did some IG postings while waiting for the show to start. ^^ I won’t give a blow by blow account of what goes down in the show, I’ll just share some of the exciting parts! The show starts with a dance and there will be many along the way. As the title of the show goes, it’s a Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem, so you never really know what to expect and there are many surprises along the way. So it’s exciting to seat, watch and wonder what is the next crazy thing to expect! Crazy things like this magic act of swopping out the dancer in the plastic wrappings to the little boy from the audience. You can watch the snippet in my video which I will embed at the end of this post! And crazy acts like Ed Alonzo disappearing from the stage and immediately reappearing in the middle of the audience, which is the exact row where I/we were seated!! And this part was particularly hilarious, Alonzo got a man from the audience and proceeded to burst balloons located all around him. He used a knife to burst the last balloon below his crotch!
We also watched Loughron James Stephen Leslie, a contortionist who also swallow swords from Austrialia, doing BOTH at the same time. CRAZYYY I TELL YOU. We also watched Ed Alonzo in many outfit changes and performing many magic acts with animals, in this case with rabbits. There was also a bird and a very cute dog. There’s also Toru Sato from Japan eating & playing with fire – he definitely didn’t listen, or his mother never told him to “not play with fire”! 😛 With Ed Alonzo, the lovely dancers & Sato. Seems like contortionist Leslie is too cool for photos with the audience. 😛 Group pic with #7Heavenbloggers.
Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus brings the best of magic & mayhem to the audience, which is visible from the attractive cast, visually pleasing props, setting & outfits to very crazy and impressive supporting performers. From 7 Nov 2015 to 13 March 2016, catch Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus show, tickets starting from RM88 to RM134.50, you can buy your tickets here.
After the performance, we headed to the visitor center where we learnt from Eric about the founder and the history of Resorts World Genting. You can read a summary from this site.A model of Genting highlands, which would require an update when all the new developments open next year!
We also watched a few videos about the exciting developments, one of them is this video about Sky Avenue:
The stunning new Sky Avenue is nestled right in the heart of the refreshed Resorts World Genting, with easy access from all adjoining hotels and leisure attractions. This brand new centre offers a complete and balanced retail mix with 165 retail and F&B lots ranging from 500 sq ft to 15,700 sq ft.
I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to this Sky Avenue!
For dinner, we headed to Resort Seafood for seafood steamboat!
Recommended plum ice blended drink! Its sweet, sour and very refreshing. We love it! We had the set for 8 persons, with crabs, prawns and many more, see the full list below: What I like about the dinner is the fresh ingredients with big portions and variety.
Set Menu for 8 persons dining
Member – RM 456.00nett; Non-Member – RM502.00nett
For more information & prices, visit their site here.
After dinner, we headed to First World Plaza for some shopping! The First World Plaza has got to be the coolest, if not highest (like literally, hahaha) shopping destination in Malaysia. There are more than 40 Retail and 25 F&B outlets plus attractions for all ages! For more information, visit here.Didn’t take many photos while shopping, except for this one at the Nike Outlet store, haha.
First World Plaza Operating Hours:
Daily: 10am – 10pm
Shops located at Level T2 will open until 12 midnight.
After shopping & chilling at Starbucks, we headed back to our hotel room to drop our stuff before heading out again to check out the Casino! (No photos allowed in the Casino)
It was my first time to a Casino on land (cause I went to the cruise one before, but that was just to check out my friend’s grandma and speak to her momentarily before we went elsewhere) and at the Genting casino, it was really crazy watching all the money that the gamblers were putting on the tables and the dealers counting the notes and stuffing them into the table, by the thousands(!). I mean, ok, I must sound like a sua ku (mountain turtle, lol) but it was eye opening for me ok? 😛 For more information about Genting Casinos, check out here. I don’t recommend nor endorse gambling, unless you have a lot of money to burn. 😛
We woke up early next morning at 7am and here’s the makeup I brought for the trip! Etude House Any Cushion in Peach (Primer), LANEIGE BB Cushion (Whitening range for dewy look). Benefit Air Patrol Eyelids Primer (New and a fab base for longer lasting eyeshadow colours👌) The Body Shop FW Festive Eyeshadow Palettes, am super loving this Golden set which such a lovely combination of peach, gold & Browns 💕 Clio‘s Latest Tattoo Lasting Gel Brow Pencil & Waterproof Eyeliner & Last but not the least Anna Sui’s loose powder & new lipstick from the Holiday Snow collection (Which is love! Look at that star shaped lippie!⭐️😍) If my make up is not very well done, it probably is, plus puffy eyes because I didn’t have enough sleep, hahaha. 😛Caught up with Chiu Yen, her BF & Warrick at the lobby. Love the view! And another view from the ground floor! We checked out and then had our bags checked in before going for breakfast. Here we’re all using wifi hence the engrossed faces with our phones except for Chiu Yen who’s always camera ready and… not sure what Fion is doing, hahaha. 😛 We had breakfast at First World Cafe and here’s what I typically pick for a buffet breakfast! Porridge, salad, carbs, beans, ham & eggs! <3
After breakfast, we headed to the last and final stop of our trip, the ITALGElato ice cream shop! ITALGElato Head Chef and mini stick ice cream.
ITALGElato is Resorts World Genting’s in house original gelato brand, which makes them the only resort with such a claim. Edward Holloway, the resort’s Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations first came up with the idea of the resort’s own ice cream brand. It started as his team and him were brainstorming concepts for the new theme park and researching how to achieve a perfect Italian gelato in Malaysia. The innovation team then dived into the processes and came up with ITALGElato. The first stall was started for fun during the school holidays and they now have 4 stores and growing. The booth we visited is at Genting First World Lobby area. There are 21 flavours available.I love the red velvet flavour, it’s tastes like the red velvet cake but in ice cream. 🙂The must try signature flavours are Dark Chocolate & Orange Cheese Cake. Their Mango flavour is made with the best grade Alfonzo mangoes and I am not a major mango fan (don’t love it, neither do I hate it) but this tastes great! Ice creams are sold at RM9.50 for one flavour, RM19 for two flavours, RM28.50 for three flavours and RM38.00 for four flavours. The Stick Ice Cream come in 5 flavours, lemon, hazelnut, pistachio, strawberry and Gianduja (Chocolate and hazelnut), priced at RM9.50 for sticks and RM7.50 for minou (smaller sticks). These special sticks have jam inside! I love these.Chef demonstrated how to coat the sticks with coloured sugar & decorate them. And we all had a chance to try! Here are our creations! It was thrilling and exciting to be able to step into the shop to have our hand at the sugar coating process and to be able to see our creations in the store’s fridge. ^^ With our creations! And more ice creams! (Did not actually eat this, was too full hahaha.)Mini ice creams are my favourite! I like these as you can try many different flavours. 8 pieces at RM 20 and 12 pieces at RM 26.Children’s favourite! Random guest’s kids staring at the ice cream made for a cute photo. ^^
Before leaving RWGenting, we took more group shots! A “fierce” look. Followed by our natural friendly smiles. Really thank God that everyone was so friendly and easy to get along! ^^Thanks to Eric, Wei En & the team from RWGenting for taking such good care of us during the trip!
I really didn’t want to leave, and I hope to be back when the Theme Park & new mall is ready! ^^
I had this Waffle Cake at Yong Peng while on the way to Genting and I had it again on the way back to SG because it’s very yummy! It’s crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. 😛
I opted for the ChocolatePeanut Mixed flavour, RM4.50.
I compiled snippets of videos & photos from this Genting Trip into a video, hope you’ll enjoy watching it!:
Thank you RWGenting for having us and hosting us for such a fun weekend!

We’re right in the midst of fall, if you haven’t got your wardrobe Fall ready, here are some of my picks from Sandro’s FW 2015/16 collection!
Sandro is a Parisian brand with refined & versatile men’s and women’s collections. Founded by Evelyne Chetrite in 1984, she developed a new women’s aesthetics – modern and sophisticated with a hint of androgyny. In line with the Sandro sensibility, Evelyne’s son, Ilan, launched Sandro Homme in 2008 focusing on revisited classics with a modern twist.
Sandro’s FW 2015/16 is very much on trend with this season’s revival of 70’s aesthetics. Specifically this collection pays homage to the legendary American rock festivals. Lace, floral prints and bordeaux(wine) & tan colour evokes bohemian vibes, leather, studs & demin completes the androgynous, rock look. 70’s key pieces such as the flare pants makes a reprise, paired with finely knit turtle neck for a modern look.
My favourite pieces will have to be those with lace, bordeaux colours and with studs – these pieces are timeless and will stay in the wardrobe for a long time. But I also really love the printed tops, with graphics and words like “Mirror” and “Freedom”. These adds more excitement and will also potentially be pieces that will remind you of the fun times.

The Autumn eye colours focuses on trendy orange, golds & browns with a special silver colour you can use as a base for the other eye colours to pop up, thanks to Melissa the make up artist for these insightful make up tips!
Here’s my before and after look from the Anna Sui Cosmetics Autumn Collection makeover! 😉 Anna Sui’s makeup artist & trainer used the silver as a base followed by the golds & browns and finished with the pop of orange above the pupil(center of eyelids). The trick to applying the BB creams is to use it sparingly over the face, layering where the blemishes and spots are. You can also use both the Protective BB cream and Illuminating BB cream together, use the Protective BB cream first followed by focusing the Illuminating BB cream on the cheeks and nose bridge for a bright & dewy look. Then lightly dab on the loose powder! You can dab all over for a matte look or avoid the cheeks so it remains glowy. I love that the Anna Sui BB cream & loose powder provides good coverage and it still feels lightweight on the skin.
Melissa also used Anna Sui skincare, before the makeup, it’s super good! Will update and share if they are launching in Singapore soon!

Another picture of this yummy goodness! Pork Katsu Curry Rice! The Pork Katsu was a bit tougher than expected, at less than $7.80 (hashbrown is an add on at $1.20), the portion is huge!
Strepsils’ The Right Note Competition finals took place at Bugis+, on the 30th of May, 2015. I had the pleasure to be invited to watch the finals and watch the contestants and winners croon.
Second Sunrise emerged as the unanimous winner of The Right Note Competition, winning five thousand dollars cash prize, a 3 months residency at Switch by Timbre, as well as $1,000 KBOX VIP Party Package. The rest of the finalists, Esther Lo, Rachel Chew and Julien Tardivat, Gary Song and Javin Tham and Danielle Grace Tan received $500 cash prize and $500 KBOX voucher each, as well as a certificate signed by the judges Danny Loong, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Director of Timbre Group, Kevin Doak, Sales Director of RB Singapore as well as Strepsils and The Right Note ambassador Olivia Ong.
Hosted by Jean Danker, the event saw appearances by Strepsils and The Right Note ambassador Olivia Ong and campaign judge Danny Loong. Olivia Ong performed one of her favourite song from her album Repertoire, “幸福記號” as well as a group duet, “Let It Rain” with the top 5 finalists. The top 5 finalists performed a single song each, ranging from hits by Justin Timberlake, Jessie J, Maroon 5 and more.
Second Sunrise. A lot of people gathered to watch the contestants. The judges! Olivia Ong and the contestants sang a song together – I was quite surprised to find that no one uploaded a video of them singing… so I can’t embed for you to watch, nonetheless it was a great performance! The winning contestants. With Hashy at the event~

The last time, I reviewed Tsubaki’s hair oil on my post here. This time, it’s about their newer haircare ranges, in particular the Tsubaki Extra Moist Range! I’ve used it for a while and I really like it because it’s great for moisturizing my coloured hair. If you’re like me and you need a moisturizing haircare range, I definitely recommend Tsubaki, plus it smells amazing!
Check out photos from their media preview~ The event was held at Tsubu at Orchard Gateway and we were each given a survey to decide which of the 3 new ranges would suit our hair! Here is the Extra Moist Range, which was best for my hair.
Here is the Volume Touch Range. And the damage care range. This event was before I started on my crazy hair colours, I probably need this range now, haha! Ootd taking outside Tburu. Went all Print on Print on Print that day! Took home a set for review~Went for dinner at Kko Kko Nara and had stew with Sheena after the event!
Thank you Tsubaki and Sheena for the lovely afternoon~
A few months back I was invited by Clozette to review L’Oreal’s Extraordinary Oil Haircare Range at Maax Salon, conveniently located at Siglap which is near my place.
The L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil Haircare range smells amazing as it contains 6 types of floral oils and has many amazing benefits which leaves my hair nourished and silky after the wash & blow. I love it very much.

Are you a gelish nail fan? Ever wished you could apply gelish nails in the comfort of your home at your own time and pace, without having to book a slot at your usual nail salon? Or wished that you can enjoy the longevity of gelish nails without damaging your nails with all that buffing? Well, now your wishes are fulfilled with Depend’s GelLack home salon kit!
Depend GelLack Start Kit
Comes with before/after cleanser, base coat, top coat, orange wood cuticle stick, nail file and an LED Lamp, to be used with GelLack colour (sold separately) for a high shine finish that lasts 2-3weeks. The LED lamp is easy to use and comes equipped with a timer – both stregthens and dries the nails within minutes, leaving an extremely durable surface.
Additional benefits of the Depend GelLack system:
1. Most gel nail application requires the surface to be buffed first, resulting in thinning and brittleness of the nails. However, GelLack doesn’t require buffing, as curing the polish under the LED lamp smoothens it out to achieve a shiny, ridgeless look (also good news for people who cannot paint nails very evenly with their non-dominant hand). Since it is equipped with an LED lamp and not a UV lamp, the curing and drying process is quicker (30 seconds) and kinder to the nails.
2. Plus, once the nail polish is cured, there is no drying time (YES, THE BEST!).
3. The removal process is the key highlight of GelLack’s system, as it requires only GelLack’s Remover Oil and warm water. Most (if not all) gel nail removal requires an acetone soak, which dehydrates the nails. The remaining polish is literally scraped and buffed off, which usually leads to damaged, brittle nails. However, GelLack only requires you to massage the oil into the nails, after which you place the nails in warm water (about 40 degrees) for about 5 minutes or so (depending on how long your manicure has been left on. If you’ve left on the manicure for less than three weeks, leave it in warm water for 7 – 10 minutes) and the nail polish can be peeled off with your fingers or with a cuticle stick, causing no damage to the surface.
4. If there is an event in which your current gel nails don’t match your outfit, you can paint them over with regular nail polish and remove it afterwards with acetone – the gel nails will not be affected! 🙂
Depend GelLack Start Kit retails at Watsons for S$99.00 and additional colours at S$13.90 each. Highly recommended for gelish nails lovers!

Are you a fan of natural skincare? Then you’ll be happy to know about OSEA Natural Skincare Range which I will be reviewing in this blog post! OSEA is an acronym for Ocean Sun Earth Atmosphere and founded by Jenefer Palmer, she created OSEA in tribute to her family’s holistic healing practices and belief that nature heals the body permanently and is quite popular with celebrities in the USA. You can read more about her interview with Urbanette here.
Thanks to Helen of Pure Tincture for sending me these 5 products from the OSEA Natural Skincare range:
OSEA’s Ocean Cleanser, Sea Minerals (Toner), Atmosphere Protection Cream, Vitamin Sea Serum & Black Algae Mask. Beginning the skincare range would be OSEA’s Ocean Cleanser. This is my favourite product amongst the range as I love the scent of this cleanser which has a lemon-y/citrus-y scent that smells oh-so-refreshing! This cleanser is suitable for dry, normal & combination skin types, free of chemical surfactants and great for light makeup removal. Also pH balanced. Next in the range is OSEA’s Sea Minerals Mist. This product is formulated to be an ideal delivery system for healing nutrients and antioxidants, Sea Minerals promotes skin’s natural ability to absorb moisture and oxygenate. USDA certified organic Patagonian seaweed extracts and Dead Sea Crystals provide a thorough therapeutic mineral treatment. Helps restore mineral balance to sun-damaged skin and reduces redness, tightness and inflammation. A quick spritz helps seal makeup against humidity. This toner is known to be a moisture rich, refreshing toner that is especially great for those who’s been exposed under the sun, like after a day at the beach. I recommend this toner for dry, combination and sun-damaged skin. What I don’t like about this toner is the green colour which looks artificial and odd, however considering this range is all natural, I accrue the green colour to the Patagonian seaweed extracts and Dead Sea Crystals. For Moisturizer, we have OSEA’s Atmosphere Protection Cream, which is my second favourite in the range. Described as a lightweight moisturizer that protects skin from dehydration and damage from environmental aggressors. The super emollient algae base ensures instantaneous absorption while the advanced blend of dermal proteins increases elasticity and leaves a matte, silky finish. An amazing, invisible base for makeup application. What I like about this moisturizer is it’s smooth texture and natural, moisturizing finish, The OSEA’s Atmosphere Protection Cream when dispensed on the skin, is gel like in consistency and milky in colour. After spreading out, OSEA’s Atmosphere Protection Cream is rich and moisturizing, leaving a healthy, natural shine. Next up we have OSEA’s Vitamin Sea Serum! This serum is touted to be an easily absorbed, potent serum that contains an anti-aging blend of seven organic seaweed extracts in a hydrating Hyaluronic Acid base. Packed with powerful antioxidants including Ferulic Acid, Turmeric, and Walnut Seed and Green Tea extracts, this serum will plump up moisture-depleted skin and restore a youthful glow. This is another favourite of mine in the range, I like this Vitamin Sea Serum for days when I feel that my skin is a little dull and needs a boost to look healthy and glowing. OSEA’s Vitamin Sea Serum is bright yellow and has a mid watery-gel consistency, gentle spread it out on the skin and pat it with finger tips and cover with palms until the serum is fully absorbed into the skin. Whilst it’s recommended for all skin types on their site, I recommend it more for dry skin, mature skin, fatigue skin, sun-damaged skin or skin that was exposed to the sun. Last but not the least, we have OSEA’s Black Algae Maskthat promises to detoxify, stimulate circulation and exfoliates. This concentrated formula stimulates circulation and brightens your complexion. Black marine silt and pure fig extract contain deep-cleansing enzymes for your skin while micro black jojoba spheres provide a gentle granular exfoliation. I’m telling you, this mask is really quite the bomb. After a mere recommended 10 minutes application on my skin (no rubbing or extra effort required) and washing it out, my skin was RED. I was quite shocked as this has never happened to me before in my 25 years alive, after masking. In my worry of it being some kind of allergy reaction, I quickly went to google and found out that it’s a normal reaction to the mask which dies down after 45min and the morning after, it gives a healthy natural glow. Well of course not everyone may experience redness of skin due to the mask stimulating blood circulation, but if you have very dull facial skin and is desperately in need of some natural flush and colour, I highly recommend the use of this mask on a weekly basis. Suitable for all skin except for super sensitive skin.OSEA’s Black Algae mask is rich in black marine silt and pure fig extract that contain deep-cleansing enzymes for your skin while micro black jojoba spheres provide a gentle granular exfoliation.
Just a note that OSEA’s Natural skincare range contains botanical oils (lots of different types of seed oils). These work to restore your skin’s balance and because they are noncomedogenic they do not clog your pores or cause breakouts. (Yay!) For more FAQ check out here.
In conclusion, I can see how OSEA natural skincare range will be popular in Singapore due to our sunny weather, I especially recommend this range and products especially for those exposed under the sun, like swimmers and athletes. Also, if you are trying out natural skincare for the first time, take note that natural skincare products and ranges usually take a while longer (2 weeks at least) to see more obvious effects on your skin, especially if you’re used to “instant” effect products which are popular in the market. However after the few weeks, you’ll appreciate the natural goodness and its effects on your skin.

Hi Loves!
Are you looking for a moisturizing skincare range that is able to hydrate your skin for a long period of time? Or do you feel that your skin is dry and dehydrated despite frequent application of moisturizers? It might mean that your skin barrier is damaged. Then you’ll be interested to read about my review of Goodal’s Moisture Barrier Range & their Phytowash cleanser!
Goodal is a skincare brand from Korea that focuses on natural ingredients in their skincare. Goodal is introducing its latest Moisture Barrier Range consisting of four different skincare essentials designed to repair the moisture barrier to keep skin plump and hydrated. The range is formulated with two main ingredients – Mistletoe Moisture Barrier Complex, that repairs the barrier and Mt. Seorak Water, which replenishes moisture in the skin to allow for a radiant complexion providing a defense against moisture loss by maintaining skin’s moisture barrier while actively hydrating the skin.
Goodal’s Moisture Barrier Range & Phytowash cleanser
Goodal’s Phytowash comes with a very user friendly dispenser, the foamy cleanser is soft, fine and gentle on the skin. It contains fine grains that exfoliates dead skin cells, Inca omega oil and Murumuru butter that balances the oil and water on dry skin, leaving skin hydrated even after the wash. It also contains Yerba Mate, a type of herb with polyphenol (micronutrients), saponin (natural soap), vitamins and green tea that maintains bright and healthy skin. I enjoy using this cleanser, I recommend it as a daily cleanser or you can also use it as a night cleanser, as it’s great for cleansing and exfoliating after a long day.
Now on to Goodal’s Moisture Barrier Range!
As mentioned, this range is formulated with two main ingredients – Mistletoe Moisture Barrier Complex, that repairs the barrier and Mt. Seorak Water, which replenishes moisture in the skin. More about them here:
1. Mt Seorak Water
Found from the depths of 580m underground of Mt. Seorak, the 100% natural spring water contains 16 minerals including sodium, calcium and potassium that are known for their abilities to effectively moisturize the skin. These minerals assist in the process of effectively binding water with dehydrated skin cells and replenishes the skin’s moisture level for a radiant and well-hydrated skin.
2. Mistletoe Moisture Complex Barrier
Able to bear fruit in below zero temperatures, the mistletoe plant is known for their strong endurance properties. This vitality is due to the presence of lectin (a type of protein found in plants), which promotes the secretion of cytokine, a category of smaller proteins which has been clinically proven to maintain skin homeostasis, an important process for skin renewal. Studies have shown that cytokines increases cell production and accelerates renewal of skin cells, making it suitable for use on damaged skin barriers.
Beginning with the first item in the range, 1. Goodal Moisture Barrier Liquid
Goodal Moisture Barrier Liquid is highly concentrated with Mistletoe and Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) with a thick texture with nutrients from toner, emulsion and essence.
Goodal Moisture Barrier Liquid is recommended for those with constant dry skin that needs lasting moisturizing or need to to revitalize fatigue skin from overworking, lack of sleep or stress.
Recommended usage after cleansing the face, dispense a small amount onto fingers and apply evenly on the face, tapping in to dry areas, wrap the face with your hands for absorption and finish off by massaging in the residue on the neck (no wastage!) 😉The Goodal Moisture Barrier Liquid is almost gel like in consistency since it’s highly concentrated. It’s said to be moist like toner, soft like emulsion and strong like essence. While you can use it on its own as an all in one for this range, I believe you can add on a FTE (First treatment essence) or skin prep product to prep the skin before using the Liquid.
2a. Goodal Moisture Barrier Cream Next in the range we have the Goodal Moisture Barrier Cream with similar ingredients as the Liquid except with very different function, While the Liquid is used to hydrate the skin, the Cream with its balm like texture and vegetable butter ingredient, works to firmly wrap the skin with a glowing moisture barrier.
The3rd product in the range is
2b. Goodal Moisture Barrier Cream Fresh is basically an alternative to the Cream. While the Cream is recommended for dry skin, Cream Fresh is for oily skin types. It has a snow-type texture (really does!) that melts into the skin and forms a refreshing moisture barrier. I love this product, the refreshing organic scent, snow like texture and how it keeps my skin hydrated for long hours through the night when I sleep and in the day while at work.
The last but not the least
3. Goodal Moisture Barrier Eyecream keeps your eyes hydrated!
Always be gentle when you apply eyecream on your eyes. Dab gently under the eyes, above the eyes and the rest at the eyebrow bone.
Let’s recap the Goodal Moisture Barrier Range Steps:

Introduction to Slimming by Nouri Face and Body Concepts
I had the pleasure to experience’s Nouri Face & Body Concepts Slimming Massage treatment and I was told by Valerie, the beauty salon owner that this is a popular treatment with her clients as it’s part of the weight loss program that the award winning beauty salon offers and one of the best ways to lose weight easily without exercise for her clients.
Valerie says that many of her clients come to her while at a loss on how to lose the fat build up in their bodies, mainly because they do not have someone to keep them accountable on their weight loss journey, so she is able to provide them the regular checks and actions that will spur and motivate them towards their goals. Some of her clients are busy professionals with no time for exercise, so they appreciate this slimming massage treatment that can help them to lose weight without exercise.
The slimming treatment from NouriFBC consists of slimming massages that are specially formulated using unique body massage techniques that are able to bring about the numerous benefits found in the unique and herbal secret recipe creams that are applied onto the common problematic areas such as the waistline, abdomen, thighs and buttocks.
Seeing as how Valerie’s beauty salon has numerous positive testimonials and reviews, I wanted to find out first hand if the slimming massage therapy is effective or just one of those weight loss myths we see everywhere in Singapore today.
Well of course I do know that I don’t have much excess weight to lose, however I was game to accept the slimming massage review assignment because I know that a properly done massage can help to tone up my tummy, thighs and especially my problem area, my arms. And of course, I wanted to know what’s in this slimming massage that will help people to lose weight without exercise.
The premises of Nouri Face and Body Concepts is airy with a cosy feel to it. The treatment rooms were equipped with machines that you’d find in most beauty salon establishments in Singapore .
My impression after the thorough consultation with Valerie was that she has a wealth of experience as well as the necessary certifications and skills. She broke down the important details of how exactly one can obtain great results with a weight loss program using slimming massages as the key component.
According to her, it is firstly vital to have a realistic set of goals such as how much weight you plan to lose, and in which areas of your body. Secondly, your lifestyle and eating habits need some changes to achieve optimal results. No dieting is necessary, just a sensible meal plan is enough. And if you are able to take short walks to raise your metabolism, that would also contribute to the fat burning process and produce faster results.
Last but not least, the number of slimming massage sessions and the time between each session is critical. Many people assume that going for a session as and when they are in the mood will be just the same as going on a fixed schedule. The longer you wait between each session, the chances of fatty deposits hardening and forming cellulite increases.
In short, make small changes to what you eat and your daily activities while simultaneously going for the slimming massages is the best formula to seeing a trimmer figure and longer lasting results.
Valerie’s slimming massages are highly popular amongst women who have given birth and put on a significant amount of weight. That actually is harder to lose as compared to normal weight gain or excess fat. At this point, I’m pretty sure I’m in good hands and I tell Valerie to proceed with the treatment session.
Without further ado, let’s go through what steps took place during my own session at NouriFBC:
Steps of Slimming Massage treatment
Dry Body Brushing
This process helps in exfoliating the skin and it is also part of the process for a full body detox as the dry body brushing action removes toxins trapped and accumulated in our lymph nodes. It also opens the pores for the removal of wastes found in the blood stream. It is similar to having lymphatic drainage done, for full detoxification of your body’s lymph nodes.
Steam Blanket and Aromatic Compress
The next step aids in creating perspiration,by using steam to unblock the pores of your skin which may be clogged with sweat, dirt, oil, body creams or perfume.
This important step is necessary to perform purges of the build up of toxins in the body.
This step also reduces water retention and the aromatic compress helps in the relief of muscular tension and regulates hormonal imbalance.
Fat Mobilisation
This step is done with the addition of the Exercise Slimming cream which doubles up the slimming process, making it more effective in breaking down stubborn fat. This massage also boosts sluggish blood circulation. The effect of this deep massaging helps to lift and tone saggy parts of body. Following which if you add on body care products such as body ampoules and creams, they are readily absorbed by the skin, hence producing more effective and visible results.
Red Ray Slimming Therapy
The last but not the least part of the slimming massage is the red ray slimming therapy. This step helps indigestion and bloating as the red ray and heat removes trapped wind which builds up a weak constitution. It also accelerates the effect of the Fat Mobilization process.
Post Slimming Treatment Care
It is recommended to bring a cardigan and leggings to keep yourself warm after the treatment and let your body continue the breaking down process of the fats. Valerie also has special inner wear for the ladies to wear and creams to apply while exercising to increase the effectiveness of the weight loss.
Conclusion:
Going through the above process and laying my thoughts out for this review made me realize that the steps all have their individual purposes as well as added enhancements that can aid the slimming process.
This does not seem to be a miracle treatment that over promises results, but rather a very well planned out treatment system that relies on each and every step being carried out perfectly to break down fat cells and reduce the amount of unhealthy weight in a person. I had an enjoyable experience that was both interesting and educational for me.
Thank you Valerie De Costa of Nouri Face & Body Concepts & for inviting me for this lovely Slimming Massage treatment. I thoroughly enjoyed my session with Valerie and trust her and her more than a decade’s experience and skills in assisting her clients to reach their target physique, health and weight.
If you’ve been looking for weight loss ideas and ways to lose weight fast and effectively (definitely not within days but a few months with consistent efforts and visits), then a visit to Nouri Face & Body Concepts and consultation with Valerie is definitely something I would recommend you to do!

I was at ION Orchard’s media breakfast the other morning and my heart was warmed to hear about their Christmas initiatives!
In a nutshell, ION Orchard celebrates the season of giving in partnership with a dozen designer brands as part of its efforts to give back to the less privileged.
To mark the festivities, there will be 12 Christmas trees specially designed by key brands at ION Orchard; customised gift wrapping paper jointly designed by special needs students; and the mall’s outdoor space, ION² will be transformed into a glittering Christmas Garden.
The 12 designer trees of Christmas for charity
In a unique collaboration, 12 brands at ION Orchard will each offer its interpretation of Christmas with a specially designed exquisite 2.4-metre-tall Christmas tree. They are Alice + Olivia, Braun Büffel, Buben & Zorweg, Cortina Watch, Crate & Barrel, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ermenegildo Zegna, Kurt Geiger, Kwanpen, Moncler, Parfums Christian Dior and TWG Tea.
The trees will be central to the mall’s fund-raising activities for Christmas, inspiring ION Orchard VIP members and loyal shoppers to open up their hearts and put in bids to adopt the tree or trees of their choice by using the iPad next to each tree. Bids start at S$8,000, with the highest bidder getting adoption and naming rights for each tree of their choice plus a token of appreciation from the respective brands and ION Orchard.
ION Orchard’s traditional 20-metre outdoor tree will be given a sparkling makeover in the mall’s first partnership with Swarovski. It will be adorned with more than 28,000 crystals while its cavernous walk-in interior will dazzle visitors with a kaleidoscope of lights, mirrored ceilings and a rotating chandelier. This is also Swarovski’s first outdoor Christmas tree in Singapore.
At the heart of ION Orchard’s festive celebrations will be a series of fundraising activities to benefit the Community Chest, with proceeds going to the Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School.
In a partnership with NETS, shoppers can also make direct donations at several donation points near concierge counters at Basement 3 and, Levels 1 and 4.
Funds raised will go towards helping the Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School, under the care of Community Chest. Some 350 students will benefit from the funds raised. As part of the Care & Share Movement led by Community Chest, donations received will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Government.
In addition to raising funds for the less advantaged this season, our collaboration with Community Chest creates a platform for special needs students from Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School to showcase their creativity and imagination by designing the mall’s Christmas wrappers.
Beneficiaries from Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School will be assisting with gift wrapping at the L1 concierge on 13th November from 10.30am to 12.30pm and on 14th November from 6.00 to 8.30pm, lending a personalized touch to the mall’s gift wrapping service for its shoppers.
