Best of Blueprint Tradeshow 2014

Hi Lovelies! <3

I was at Blueprint Tradeshow 2014 and here’s a selection of my version of Best of Blueprint Tradeshow 2014.
For more info., you may refer to their official site here.
There’s some 200 local and international labels, of which I’m featuring about 20 here, enjoy!

Ana Faye

Ireland. Website here. Full 2015 lookbook here.

Before the tradeshow, I was invited down to her booth by Ana Faye, who found me online while search for press/blog releases online for previous yearsBlueprint. Ana Faye hails from Ireland, having worked as a fashion and accessories designer for several years in London, Italy and China, her love for handbags and Ireland led her back home to start designing and making her own unique line of leather bags. She now stocks all over Ireland, UK, Europe and the USA and is looking to expand into Asia.

Next up we have NatalieBColeman, also an Irish designer with confident and bold womenswear designs with a tinge of quirkiness. She presented a new FW 2014 collection that I love, which unfortunately at this point in time I don’t have the press images.

So so, I only had an hour’s breeze around the Blueprint Tradeshow,
as such the labels below are the brands I see on the handbook which I like and selected to feature here.

In case you’re wondering, the premise of which I decide to feature these brands are based; mainly on what I like, which is womenswear, and a kind of aesthetics veering towards contemporary chic and irreverent. 🙂

AL’Manita

Thailand. Website here.

Stylish, contemporary, chic. Irreverent yet sophisticated. I want the entire collection, nuff’ said. See the entire Spring Summer 2014 collection here.

American Retro

France. Website here.

Lookbook in larger images/pdf here.

Irreverent slogan tees, varsity jackets, knee high socks, pink leather jackets, pencil skirts, suited blazers. Effortless cool, that’s what they are. The non-basic basics of American fashion editors and fashionistas. I am in love with the brand. My only complain is the name, American Retro – it just conjures the image of a deserted American Petrol Kiosk, which I feel isn’t relevant today. Perhaps something more updated would be better. Nonetheless, the name does explain the heritage of the brand, the french designers went to US and came back inspired to design a collection and brand.

Ange Révolte

Singapore. Website here.

Titled Metaphor, Pre-Fall 2014 Collection, where there is light, there’s darkness, where there’s good, there’s bad. Frankly I think that black and white has been done to death by local designers, but there’s something still refreshing about this collections; the little details, the geometric cuts and designs, would definitely wear them. Full collection here. Fall collection also out here.

Bitching & Junkfood

UK. Website here. FB here.

There isn’t much images available from their official site, wanted to show you their SS14 collection/lookbook but couldn’t find it so I’m showing photos posted on their FB to show you a glimpse of their brand and irreverent style, which is obviously totally in line with their name, ya’know.

Ema Savahl Couture designer with a heavy emphasis on art and textures in her creation and also worn by celebrities worldwide. I love her collections which resemble pieces of art more than fashion apparels. Those baroque details? How gorgeous they are! Check out her artworks, I mean collections on her lookbooks here. Fabitoria

Images from their FB and Etsy shop. These outfits are perfect for afternoon dates at the park, a museum visit and are simply indicative of a woman of elegant pursuits and activities. Maybe all of us will start visiting the museum more often when we don these pieces. Someone buy these beautiful designs for me, please.

Blueprint Singapore 2012 | Asia’s Fashion Gateway

With thanks to my tutor Yvonne, V and I went down to visit Blueprint Tradeshow.

BLUEPRINT is a one-stop fashion trade gateway for East-West exchange, created to present up-and-coming International and Asian designers. It uniquely specializes in launching Pre-Spring collections and curates fresh and forward menswear, womenswear and accessories including jewelry, shoes and bags from emerging designers destined for international markets. – Blueprint.sg

Here are a few interesting brands that caught my eye when we were there for a little while.

In no particular order (maybe except for how I collected the namecards for reference, haha!) :

ATGAB

Stands for All Things Green and Beautiful and lives true to its name.

ATGAB’s Booth at Blueprint Tradeshow
Loving ATGAB’s colourful necklaces and headbands.

I love the idea of ATGAB and I am very glad to know that the owner and local (Singaporean) designer of this green label, Elaine has been able to sustain the label since 2009.

And she has a huge mission: To preserve the environment we live in by starting a serious green business. Elaine collects pre-loved handbags, cuts them up, re-thinks the materials, and hand-makes them into the most unexpected accessories. Every product is made up of at least 50% – 80% upcycled materials. Elaine is very proud of the workmanship of all designs, and take even more pride in the big hearts of their Bag Goddesses. A percentage of all profits would also go towards non-profit organisations as their way of giving back to society. – allthingsgreenandbeautiful.com/

The website has a count of number of bags collected and reused for their products. Which is really cute.

ATGAB is stocked at Soon Lee
73 Haji Lane
Singapore 189266

Urface

Is a very interesting brand that collaborates with artists / graphic designers to create one of a kind canvas tote / messenger bags, each limited to only 7 in the world.

Urface Canvas Bag
Urface Canvas Bag

I feel that there is a lot of potential to their brand. They remind me of the T-shirt brand Threadless, inviting designers to design T-shirts which are then voted online and produced for buyers. Most of the information on their FB page is in Thai, hopefully they will translate to english for a wider audience in time to come.

kiki culte

Nicknamed KitKat by her friends, Penn, a Cancerian is into myths, legends and fairy tales of sorts. The nocturnally inspired artist devotes all her time to her passion for all kinds of handcrafted art, which include the recent handmade weave accessories. – http://www.kikiculte.com/

I was drawn to kiki culte’s designs because of the rocker chic series. An example here:

The Le Roche series 1 is priced from $128-$188.

Prices for her various series are available here.

Holstad & Co.

I was first drawn to the booth because of the studded bags.

Holstad & Co. Pink Python Laptop Case

Available at $416 on their website here.

Holstad & Co. Black Python Laptop Case

Available at $416 on their website here.

I love the colours, the studs and the texture of the bags.

They also feature a range of jewellery on their website.

Suecomma Bonnie

Is a shoe brand that has been likened to Louboutin’s in Korea.

Korean shoe designer Bo-hyun Lee has taken the craft of shoe designing to the highest level, with each piece looking like a coveted work of art. Suecomma Bonnie’s handmade shoes are made of the most luxurious materials imported from Europe. Known for feminine and sexy styles, the brand has been worn by many Korean celebrities and featured in almost every top fashion glossies in Korea including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and W Magazine.

You can purchase the Suecomma bonnie Pre-spring 2013 collection on FutureFashionNow here. Limited sales period, till 19 June.

GlamRockChic

Helmed by a lovely lady Sarah Sheue whom V and I talked to at length, listening to her share about her brand’s history and design inspiration.

Here are two shoes that we were in love with from her booth!

GlamRockChic Pink and Black Wedges Summer 2013

This is a sample for her Summer 2013 collection, so it’s not produced or for sale yet! We love the colour combination and the spike details.

GlamRockChic

This shoe is striking because of the blend of tribal and rocker details which makes it unique.

Priced at US$120 – 200, free shipping to Malaysia, varying additional postage to international customers. Do check out the online store here.

Tip: If you refer 5 friends to the website, you get a 20% coupon for your next purchase! So it might cover your postage fees. (;

Timo Weiland

One last brand that is one of New York’s up and coming designer label by designer duo Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein. I met them last year when I was helping backstage for their show in Blueprint 2011 and it was a wonderful coincidence to meet them again at the airport when I flew to Hong Kong.

Timo Weiland is the brainchild of New York’s dynamic IT duo Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein. Known for quirky designs and colour palette, their collections are inspired by their mutual love of European history and travel. In July 2011, Timo Weiland was personally selected by Net-a-Porter’s Director as an inductee to the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Fashion Incubator Program. – http://www.futurefashionnow.com/index.php/main/designer/5

Two of my favourite pieces from their Pre-Spring 2013 collection available for sale until June 19 here:

Timo Weiland Fossil Print Shirt Dress & Cut Out Tank
Timo Weiland Fossil Print Cutout Tank (Grey) available at USD 185.00 here.
Timo Weiland Fossil Print Shirt Dress available at USD USD 442.00 here.
Timo Weiland Shirt Dress w/ Lace Trim
Timo Weiland Shirt Dress w/ Lace Trim available at USD 450.00 here.

I love their quirky yet formal design sensibility. These pieces reminds me of what Blaire in Gossip Girl would wear.

I was excited to meet Timo again and so I took a picture with him. (:

There were of course a lot other clothing labels but alas, I didn’t have the time to venture and collect details. Nonetheless I hope you enjoyed my recap of Blueprint 2012. Support local and Asian talents! (:

Post Blueprint Reflections (2011)

(Belated) April Visual Inspirations! :)

Hi!!!

It’s been more than a week since I last updated! And almost a month since I had my last visual inspirations update! So here’s a huge chunk of visual inspirations I’ve yet to upload from April!

You’ll find a lot of images regarding the Royal Wedding, Noel Caleb, Style Bubble – Susie’s outfit posts and a bit more of home decor inspirations too! 🙂

It’s nice to keep a visual inspirations log. From it, I can start to see that my favoured aesthetics skew a lot toward key word(non-exhaustive list) such as feminine, colours, sophisticated and tastefully dramatic. Keeping a visual log helps me to find out what tickles my fancy and what I appreciate. It’s also really an exercise to open my eyes to new and different visual approach as well as keeping myself up to date to trends.

Sorry I didn’t caption where I took them from because it’s just too many to cover! I will try to be more conscientious in future and update more regularly with proper crediting. 🙂 But if you really want to know what is from where, let me know and I will try to source out the original and let you know!

A short update on how life’s been:

It’s been a great 1 week plus so far, interning with Blueprint/Mercury MC is turning out real fine, working alongside friendly colleagues – having good meals from nearby food places and knowing of like 100 over new/upcoming local and regional brands- is quite like summer school for me.

Royal wedding was all the buzz when it happened end April (the last post on my blog) and then the next was all about Singapore Elections. My batch turns 21 this year so it was a slight wet blanket when we found out only those who turn 21 on 1st of Jan gets to vote. (Why is the school intake not like this huh? :P)

I will reserve my thoughts on elections in a separate blog post titled “Post #Sgelections Thoughts” which I’ve already thought of the points but just finding the time to blog it down.

Will start to get real busy for Blueprint as the event, next weekend draws nearer! I might even be staying over at MBS if they need me to stay! Follow me on twitter (see side bar for my latest tweets)—> if you haven’t and you can read more about my daily “happenings” and cool news I read online. 😉

Twitter is like micro-blogging so I think that’s partly why I have not updated the blog for so long! Go read my tweets to see what you’ve missed out for the past 1 week plus ok! 😛

Lastly I fell sick *again* due to a flu I caught from the office… but I’m on the way to recovery so Thank God for that! I’m also very thankful for my Blueprint internship and another one coming up in June/July. 🙂

Been slacking off spiritually lately, need to be disciplined and take time for God! 🙂

Shall head to bed naooo

Xx
