Now that I am settling into my internship(more about that later), I finally have time for my blog! π
100 Friends 100 Artists 100 Inspiration exhibition is currently held at TCC @ Clarke Quay (near Raffles Place Mrt). The exhibition is managed byΒ Art-management. Itβs a celebration of Phunk Studio as they invite 100 friends to create 100 artworks β each piece representing something, someone that inspires them. Subject varies from animals to families, lovers, artists and for myself, a Singaporean fashion visionary Tjin Lee.Β
Each artwork will be sold at $199 per piece. $99 will go to funding Transmission Lab 2012 exhibition which will be held next February, showcasing the artworks of up and coming creative Singapore talents.
Photo time! π

My artwork. I am inspired by local fashion visionary and game-changer, Tjin Lee, founder of Mercury M&C, organizing company for Audi Fashion Festival and Blueprint! π
This is my write-up for my artwork:
Tjin Lee is a Singaporean woman that inspires me. As the founder of the PR and events management company Mercury Marketing and Communications and Audi Fashion Festival director, she has increased Singaporeβs awareness of fashion and level of fashion by bringing in top international designers in the past years. She is inspiring to a fashion student like myself because she is visionary, believing that Singapore can be a great fashion capital years ago and has played a great part for the fashionable city that Singapore is today!
My artwork about Tjin Lee is executed in scrapbookβstyle, a collection of bits and pieces about her that inspires a fan. The use of black and white traditional damask print complements Leeβs elegance while the orange rose and hues expresses her warmth and friendliness that she exudes in person. Lastly I hope that her quote βIβ¦ march to the beat of a different drum.β continues to inspire many more to take the lead and take the less-travelled paths.
This is one of my favourite artwork in the exhibition, it is done by my CCS (cultural and contextual studies) tutor, Lucinda and it’s kind of like a romantic tribute to her lover… Aww!!! I texted her to tell her I liked it a lot. π It was sold already (red dot) and we wonder who could have bought it…? π
Funny profile pic of an artist ! Hahaha π
Do go down and check out the exhibition at Clarke Quay! 50% of the artworks are sold and will be taken down by 15 Dec if they are sold, if not they will be on display till January! Hurry go down and purchase the artworks while they are still available, support local arts, support Transmission Lab 2011/12 and support yours truly! π

About 3 weeks ago, Jacq invited Char and I to attend IS Magazine bash at Avalon. Wondering what IS Mag bash might have in store, I decided to attend to take a look. It was terrrible to say the least. We went down at about 11pm and queued for about 30min to be told that drinks were no longer free-flow and there is only one bar open/bartender giving drinks and it wasn’t the one that we were queuing at. The music was bad, it was so very super packed, all I remembered was noise and there was no host or entertainment of any sort. Disappointed, we left without a single sip or drinks. Although there was a small door gift of Β the Face Shop facial mask and other samples… I don’t think it was worth the trip.
Fortunately, there was another event which took us by pleasant surprise. Jacq was invited to attend Heineken underground music festival which was held at what seemed like an abandoned warehouse at Stadium link, near Katong (and $8 cab fare away from my home, yay).En route to the party place.
Jacq signing in while we await for our passes as her guests. π
The first set that we heard playing was by an indie musician from UK, London. I think his name was James. The music was very strong in bass and vocals, like acoustic with strong beats. At times pretty trance and hypnotic which was… very unfortunately not Char or my kind of thing/music. HAHA. Well, we were each given a complimentary full bottle of Heineken plus the enthusiasm of the crowd bobbing to his music really made the event enjoyable.
I left early that night but not without a picture with the lovely girls! π
